  • PackageManager: Not granting permission

    - by scott
Im trying to force my phone to go to sleep as soon as i turn my screen off, but whenever i install with adb, packagemanager informs me that it wont grant the permission i need, so my service throws an exception. I was able to install another app called power save mode toggle which has the same permission, and it seems to work, so i should be able to get this to work, right?

  • Best way to write a Safari Extension

    - by username
What is the best way to write a Safari extension? I've written a couple XUL extensions for Firefox, and now I'd like to write versions of them for Safari. Is there a way that would allow you to add buttons or forms to the browser UI, since this is not possible with an Input manager or Service menu?

  • Preserving CSS styles with Javascript

    - by Eber Freitas Dias
Hey guys, I have a web service where people can edit their pages CSS, but I have a bar on the footer of that page that I want to make consistend on every page... People are, right now, able to "remove" it with CSS and I really didn't want to go and parse the CSS to remove rules related to that bar... Is there a way to preserve the styles or re-aply them after load to keep the bar always visible? Thanks in advanced!

  • Is WebService the next Big thing?

    - by theband
I was today trying to figure out on working with WebService and found many articles really gospel over the Web Service and its effectiveness in the Market share. My Questions are: For a Complex project of critical data, is it better to opt for WebService? What Makes WebService different from other way of fetching the data?

  • Network access when the Android phone is asleep

    - by Immortal
I'm using a combination of alarm (set with AlarmManager) and background service to periodically synchronize data in my application. The only problem I have is that when sleep policy terminates Wi-Fi connection the synchronization no longer works. Is there a way to "wake up" the Wi-Fi connection that has been put to sleep? GMail somehow manages to do that because it notifies me about new e-mail even if the phone entered sleep mode.

  • Channels in Socket.io

    - by mat3001
Hi, I am trying to broadcast a message through the Node.js service socket.io (http://socket.io/) to certain subset of all subscribers. To be more exact, I would like to use channels that users can subscribe to, in order to efficiently push messages to a couple hundred people at the same time. I'm not really sure if addEvent('channel_name',x) is the way to go. I have not found anything in the docs. Any ideas? Thanks Mat

  • Access to the registry key 'Global' is denied.

    - by Vivek Rathore
While giving permissions to the 'defaultAppPool' user I am getting the message 'There is no such global user or group: DefaultAppPool.' Can anyone help me here! However, using command 'net localgroup "Performance Monitor Users" DefaultAppPool /add' I am able to resolve the error but i am facing this problem in Windows Server 2003/IIS 6.0. Here, I am always prompted as 'There is no such global user or group: DefaultAppPool.' I have also added the 'Network Service' but no avail.

  • Gratuitous use of System.Runtime.Serialization attributes?

    - by rasx
Is there any cost/drawback (apart from typing too much) to adorning a class with System.Runtime.Serialization attributes (like [DataContract]) such that it can be used locally as a direct reference to a desktop Client project or as a type for a WCF service? The goal here is to write a data-tier class that can be used in both rich client (WPF) and Web scenarios. My data classes will be in a project that is separate from Client and WCF (*.svc code-behind) code. Is this a valid attempt to reuse code?

  • ASP.NET small online store, shopping cart

    - by Tyler
Currently I have a site that is using Google Checkout's mini cart system and I like it a lot, however, I'm wondering if there is a more professional way of doing it, while still keeping it simple. I've looked into an authorize.net account, but I need to find a way to handle the mini shopping cart before heading off to process the order. Are there any good open source mini shopping carts that are not linked with a merchant service?

  • Intercept method calls in Python

    - by eaigner
Hi. I'm implementing a RESTful web service in python and would like to add some QOS logging functionality by intercepting function calls and logging their execution time and so on. Basically i thought of a class from which all other services can inherit, that automatically overrides the default method implementations and wraps them in a logger function. What's the best way to achieve this?

  • How can I add HTTP request caching to an application using ASIHTTPRequests?

    - by smokey_the_bear
I'm using ASIHttpRequests and an ASINetworkQueue in an iphone app to retrieve some 100k XML files and a lot of thumbnails from a web service. I'd like to cache the requests in the style of NSURLCache. ASI doesn't seem to support caching as is, and I looked at the code and it drops to C to create the requests, so inserting the NSURLCache layer seemed tricky. What's the best way to implement this?

  • How may I teach that SOAP is not a reliable transport?

    - by Eduardo
I need to teach that a HTTP SOAP call may be received but the caller may not get the response due to a network failure (among other problems). (This problem made WS-ReliableMessaging be developed) How would you guys show this problem to a web service developer so they can develop taking into account that duplicate messages may be received?

  • Performance of a proposed JEE architecture

    - by kineas
I have concerns about the performance of the following architecture: j2ee application in an appserver, ejb session bean and DAOs remote (rich) client, a swing app. A classic, form-based client only one stateless ejb, the ejb is accessed via web services, not rmi, through a homegrown framework each web service request will get authenticated against an LDAP no state stored on the server, only client-side sessions I guess working on the rich GUI will involve a remote call in every 2-10 seconds, or more, per user. What do you think?

  • Saving image to database as varbinary, arraylength (part 2)

    - by Thomas Schoof
This is a followup to my previous question, which got solved (thank you for that) but now I am stuck at another error. I'm trying to save an image in my database (called 'Afbeelding'), for that I made a table which excists of: id: int souce: varbinary(max) I then created a wcf service to save an 'Afbeelding' to the database. private static DataClassesDataContext dc = new DataClassesDataContext(); [OperationContract] public void setAfbeelding(Afbeelding a) { //Afbeelding a = new Afbeelding(); //a.id = 1; //a.source = new Binary(bytes); dc.Afbeeldings.InsertOnSubmit(a); dc.SubmitChanges(); } I then put a reference to the service in my project and when I press the button I try to save it to the datbase. private void btnUpload_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { Afbeelding a = new Afbeelding(); OpenFileDialog openFileDialog = new OpenFileDialog(); openFileDialog.Filter = "JPEG files|*.jpg"; if (openFileDialog.ShowDialog() == true) { //string imagePath = openFileDialog.File.Name; //FileStream fileStream = new FileStream(imagePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); //byte[] buffer = new byte[fileStream.Length]; //fileStream.Read(buffer, 0, (int)fileStream.Length); //fileStream.Close(); Stream stream = (Stream)openFileDialog.File.OpenRead(); Byte[] bytes = new Byte[stream.Length]; stream.Read(bytes, 0, (int)stream.Length); string fileName = openFileDialog.File.Name; a.id = 1; a.source = new Binary { Bytes = bytes }; } EditAfbeeldingServiceClient client = new EditAfbeeldingServiceClient(); client.setAfbeeldingCompleted +=new EventHandler<System.ComponentModel.AsyncCompletedEventArgs>(client_setAfbeeldingCompleted); client.setAfbeeldingAsync(a); } void client_setAfbeeldingCompleted(object sender, System.ComponentModel.AsyncCompletedEventArgs e) { if (e.Error != null) txtEmail.Text = e.Error.ToString(); else MessageBox.Show("WIN"); } However, when I do this, I get the following error: System.ServiceModel.FaultException: The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter :a. The InnerException message was 'There was an error deserializing the object of type OndernemersAward.Web.Afbeelding. The maximum array length quota (16384) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxArrayLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader.'. Please see InnerException for more details. at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel.HandleReply(ProxyOperationRuntime operation, ProxyRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel.EndCall(String action, Object[] outs, IAsyncResult result) at System.ServiceModel.ClientBase`1.ChannelBase`1.EndInvoke(String methodName, Object[] args, IAsyncResult result) atOndernemersAward.EditAfbeeldingServiceReference.EditAfbeeldingServiceClient.EditAfbeeldingServiceClientChannel.EndsetAfbeelding(IAsyncResult result) at OndernemersAward.EditAfbeeldingServiceReference.EditAfbeeldingServiceClient.OndernemersAward.EditAfbeeldingServiceReference.EditAfbeeldingService.EndsetAfbeelding(IAsyncResult result) at OndernemersAward.EditAfbeeldingServiceReference.EditAfbeeldingServiceClient.OnEndsetAfbeelding(IAsyncResult result) at System.ServiceModel.ClientBase`1.OnAsyncCallCompleted(IAsyncResult result) I'm not sure what's causing this but I think it has something to do with the way I write the image to the database? (The array length is too big big, I don't really know how to change it) Thank you for your help, Thomas

  • NHibernate : recover session after connection lost

    - by Catalin DICU
I'm using NHibernate with SQL Server 2005 in a WPF client application. If I manually stop the SQL Server service and then restart it the session doesn't automatically reconnect. So far I'm doing this witch seems to work : try { using (ITransaction transaction = this.Session.BeginTransaction()) { // some select here } }catch(Exception ex) { if(this.Session.Connection.State == ConnectionState.Closed) { try { this.Session.Connection.Open(); } catch (Exception) { } } } Is there a better way ?
