    I have the database table logs as the following: I would like to extract the last entry of device, pollDate, status. For eg. deviceId, pollDate, status 1, 2010-95-06 10:53:28, 1 3, 2010-95-06 10:26:28, 1 I tried to run the following query but the distinct only selects the first records, not the latest SELECT DISTINCT deviceId, pollDate, status FROM logs GROUP By deviceId ORDER BY pollDate DESC So, could you please help me to extract the latest entries from the table?     I have a table with a collection of orders. The fields are: customerName (text) DateOfOrder (datetime). I would like to show totals of orders per week per customer. I would like to have it arranged for the Friday of each week so that it looks like this: all dates follow mm/dd/yyyy "bobs pizza", 3/5/2010, 10 "the phone co",3/5/2010,5 "bobs pizza", 3/12/2010, 3 "the phone co",3/12/2010,11 Could somebody please show me how to do this? Since I'm trying to save only the date, is there a better option than datetime that would work with one of these output formats?

This is causing problem for PHP DateTime function, as it fails with Failed to parse time string (2010-12-15-10.23.22.716000) at position 25 (0): Unexpected character It seems its having a problem with too much accuracy in DB2 timestamp. Can I somehow force connection to change timestamp format with it is fetching data into?

    I need to create a toplist in the page footer on a site that I'm building. The footer is created in the default SiteMesh layout template (views/layouts/main.gsp). In order to create the toplist access to the database is needed, so I've encapsulated all logic needed for the toplist creation in a service class (services/FooService). Please note that while services are usually accessed from the controller layer, in this case the default layout template (views/layouts/main.gsp) is not generated from a controller. Can the layout view (views/layouts/main.gsp) access a service class? How? Is this the correct design decision? If not, what is a better encapsulation and how do I interact with said encapsulation from the layout view (views/layouts/main.gsp)?
