I am looking for resources and references for a MySql equivalent to MSSql SMO. Also, is SMO the newest technology for programmatic management of Sql server?
Will the performance of a SQL server drastically degrade if the database is bigger than the RAM? Or does only the index have to fit in the memory? I know this is complex, but as a rule of thumb?
hi all, as per my question, i am wondering what differences are there when we are performing tests for the client side , as compared to performing tests on the client side?
For example, testing javascript on the client side versus testing server side code?
Best Regards.
Hi there,
Chef from Opscode seems to be really useful for configuring servers and such, but trying to follow their documentation is a little difficult. Some terms are defined after they are used, and definitions sometimes reference new terms that you haven't yet encountered.
Anyone know of any GOOD tutorials/walk-throughs for getting a good understanding of Chef, Chef-Server and Chef-Client?
I remember seeing one video presentation online, but it barely scratched the surface.
I once needed the lines of the stored procedures, to be able to trace whether i have a reference to some function, procedure or table, or sometimes to try to find something inside of the sp's code. Where does the sql server stores the procedures's code?
I updated a working Cygwin/Screen setup on Windows 2k3 Server to Cygwin v1.7.2 and Screen 4.00.03. After updating, backspace no longer works. I haven't made any changes to my system or configuration. The Cygwin update went fine, and I don't have any custom changes in /etc.
Any ideas?
i.e. if I create a VARCHAR(50) field, what happens if I try to assign it a value that's 100 characters long?
Will SQL Server let me do this? Is it somehow less efficient?
In sql server, we can issue sql to get data like
select * from table where column like '%myword%'
select * from person where Soundex(LastName) = Soundex('Ann')
what's the linq query to match above sql?
Hi,
Sorry if the question isn't phrased very well but I'm new to SSAS and don't know the correct terms.
I have changed the name of a table and its columns. I am using said table as a dimension for my cube, so now the cube won't process. Presumably I need to make updates in the analysis server to reflect changes to the source database?
I have no idea where to start - any help gratefully received.
Thanks
Phil
Hi,
I'm using the Visual Studio Development Server, with a specific port. Is there a way to add a virtual directory to it?
EDIT:
Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I'd like to be able to add one or more virtual directories to arbitrary physical directories. For instance: http://localhost/c_drive/ would map to C:\, http://localhost:/d_drive/ would map to D:\, etc.
same as in title? I have a test server with mentioned OS and my app is .net 3.5 based. I do want to know if win 2008 r2 comes with service pack 1 for .net 3.5 from the box. And does it come with .net 3.5 sp1 family update as WELL, since after I downloaded the update, the installer says I do not have software required to update. Could some win 2008 guru perhaps explain it to me?
thanks
luke
I need to write a function to delete the login in the database if it does not have any users to map to using SQL Server Management Objects (SMO). How can I achieve this ?
How to automatically generate documentatation of stored procedures of SQL Server 2008 like doxygen does to codes? I read about hyperSQL but it doesn't work nice with Windows.
Thanks!
Gil.
In SQL Server, is there any way to check whether the changes in the schema will impact Stored Procedures (and/or Views)?
For example a change of the column name in one table, may break some Stored Procedures; how to check the impacted stored procs?
Hi, the problem is, im using a leased windows server, and im trying to create a directory using php function mkdir, whichever path i try gives the same result.
im using absolute something like this.
mkdir('D:\Hosting\3105674\html\lepsiprisma\hola',0777);
Why is it necessary to remove and then re-add a user to a SQL Server database after restoring it from a file?
If I don't do this, I get a "User login failed" when trying to access the database using this username from apps.
I am aware of:
SELECT @@ERROR
but it will give me only an ERROR CODE (a number) and I need a full text message like:
Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.TABLE_NAME' with unique index 'IX_ID_unique'.
The statement has been terminated.
How can I do that in MS Sql Server 2005 ?
So I know that my server on real form submit turns %CE%EB%E5%E3+%DF%EA%F3%F8%EA%E8%ED into ???? ??????? . How to peform string transfer from ???? ??????? into %CE%EB%E5%E3+%DF%EA%F3%F8%EA%E8%ED using ActionScript? (Its ok if a space character as %20, not + , PHP should handle that fine.)
Question: I can get the SQL Server database language by querying:
SELECT @@language
And I can get further info via
EXEC sp_helplanguage
How can I query for a column of sp_helplanguage where name= @@language
I do SELECT * FROM sp_helplanguage WHERE name='DEUTSCH'
but that obviously doesn't work.
What's the correct way to query it ?
I hate the standard Query window that comes up when you select new query on a data connection in server explorer, I'd much rather have a T-SQL Editor come up. Is this possible?
Maybe not replace that functionality but a shortcut key or something that would bring up a T-SQL editor?
