Hello Guys,
We have been using PHP/MySQL for our web application which has been growing a lot, the database is around 4-5GB and one of the table is 2GB sometimes, hence slowing down whenever any queries to that table is called.
Should we just try to optimize, or are we using MySQL above its limit? Will switching our web app to .NET/MSSQL resolve the issues?
Thanks

I would like to find out from .NET code whether DirectX 10 is supported on the machine, preferably without using managed DirectX or XNA assemblies.
Thank you in advance!
I am not sure about the semantic of "ApplicationDirectory" membership condition. I am set it up in the .NET Framework 2.0 configuration tool. All the other membership conditions such as strong name, hash, need me to input some criterias, only the Application Directory has not. How to use it? Could someone give an explanation by example? Many thanks.

Rather a simple question. But the implications are vast.
Over the last few weeks I've been reading a lot of material about n-tier architecture and it's implementation in the .NET world. The problem is I couldn't find a relevant sample for Winforms with Linq (linq is the way to go for BLL right?).
How did you guys manage to grasp the n-tier concept? Books, articles, relevant samples etc.
I saw couple of SO questions (SO) concerning SQL-server. For SQL-server there was no decent solution. All were hacks/workarounds. What about Oracle? Is it same answer (Paremeterizing each value)? Any Oracle example without LINQ would be appreciated (I have .NET 2.0).
Thanks & BR -Matti
Hi there,
I'd like to move publicly accessible files .css, images into my ASP.NET MVC Views folder. Since the Views has a web.config denies all requests, what exactly do I need to do to achieve this, so .aspx, .ascx are still protected while .css, images are accessible. Could someone show in detail please.
Thank you,
Ray.
Microsoft .NET Framework
Assembly A
Assembly B
Contains Class C - References Assembly A
Contains Class D - Does not reference Assembly A, Does not reference Class C
Questions:
During runtime if Assembly A DLL does not exist, will Class D be able to execute successfully?
Where as Class C will fail with a reference error?
When I learned Java, I was told that the arraylist works this way:
It creates an array with room for 10 elements.
When the 11th element is added, it is created a new list with room for 20 elements, and the 10 elements are copied into the new array. This will repeat as until there are no more elements to add, or to a maximum size.
Is the List in .NET constructed the same way?
I need to return a JSON encoded response to a flash http get request.
In ASP.NET, I do this with a ASHX handler.
What's the PHP equivalent ?
I mean in order that I only get JSON back, and not the <html> etc.
Is there any built in method in the .NET library that will return all of the MX records for a given domain? I see how you get CNAMES, but not MX records.

Are there any .NET libraries etc. which allow adding layers (with text) to .tiff images?
Something like annotations, so that it would be possible to separate them from image afterwards.
I tried DotImage - it allows to add annotations, save them as embedded into image and load them afterwards, but no one other image viewer seems to recognize that they are there.
