  • Does a C++ destructor always or only sometimes call data member destructors?

    - by Magnus
I'm trying to validate my understanding of C++ destructors. I've read many times that C++ supplies a default destructor if I don't write one myself. But does this mean that if I DO write a destructor that the compiler WON'T still provide the default cleanup of stack-allocated class fields? My hunch is that the only sane behavior would be that all class fields are destroyed no matter what, whether I provide my own destructor or not. In which case the statement I've read so many times is actually a little misleading and could be better stated as: "Whether or not you write your own destructor, the C++ compiler always writes a default destructor-like sequence to deallocate the member variables of your class. You may then specify additional deallocations or other tasks as needed by defining your own destructor" Is this correct?

  • Cocoa: how to implement a custom NSView with an editable text area?

    - by Rinzwind
What's the minimum implementation needed to make a custom NSView with an editable text area? I assume NSTextFieldCell can be used for this. I've succeeded in drawing the cell in the view (which is straightforward), but making it editable seems to require a more complicated coordination between the view and the cell. Is there sample code available somewhere? Update. I should have made clear that my longer-term goal is to have many more editable text areas on the same view. AFAIU it is better to use cells in that case as they are more light-weight than full-blown views. My updated question is: What's the minimum implementation needed to make a custom NSView with an editable text area using an appropriate NSCell?

  • problem using ant move task

    - by user315228
I have a directory structure like this client/lib a.jar b-4.3.jar c-1.2.jar d-4.3.jar e.jar I need to copy some jars without version and some with version. The only information that i have is version number, and that is stored in a variable. Problem is version number that i have in variable is 4.3.1 and version that jars have is just first two digits from the variable value (i.e. 4.3 in my case). I need all the jars that has starting two digits that my variable has and some of the jars without version. For e.g. from above directory structure i need: b-4.3.jar d-4.3.jar e.jar Can somebody please help?

  • Javascript code semantics

    - by Mohammad
    if(myVar = img.parent('a').length > 0){ var Y = 1; }else{ var Y = 2; } When I run this code myVar (being announced for the first time) takes the value of img.parent('a').length > 0 and becomes either false or true depending on the case. First Question: Is this a correct way of defining myVar? Second Question: Am I defining Y for the second time? Is my second 'var' excess? i.e. should i just write Y = 2;

  • Serializing ActiveRecord objects without storing their attributes?

    - by Allan Grant
I'm working on a problem where I need to store serialized hierarchies of Ruby objects in the database. Many of the objects that will need to be saved are ActiveRecord objects with a lot of attributes. Instead of saving the entire objects and then refreshing their attributes from the DB when I load them (in case they changed, which is likely), it would be easier to just store the references (class and database id) for these objects. Does anyone know if there's already a way to do this in Rails, or if there's an existing gem for it? Wanted to check if something existed before spending a ton of time hacking on it.

  • How do I find the largest factor of an integer in mysql

    - by Bill H
    I am trying to write a select query that will dynamically determine the minimum number of items that can be packaged together. I am having trouble with one part of the query. ... CASE WHEN (pid.product_id) THEN 1 WHEN ((p.case_pack = p.inner_pack) AND (p.inner_pack % 11 = 0)) THEN CEILING(p.inner_pack / 11) WHEN ((p.case_pack = p.inner_pack) AND (p.inner_pack % 7 = 0)) THEN CEILING(p.inner_pack / 7) WHEN ((p.case_pack = p.inner_pack) AND (p.inner_pack % 6 = 0)) THEN CEILING(p.inner_pack / 6) WHEN ((p.case_pack = p.inner_pack) AND (p.inner_pack % 5 = 0)) THEN CEILING(p.inner_pack / 5) WHEN ((p.case_pack = p.inner_pack) AND (p.inner_pack % 4 = 0)) THEN CEILING(p.inner_pack / 4) WHEN ((p.case_pack = p.inner_pack) AND (p.inner_pack % 3 = 0)) THEN CEILING(p.inner_pack / 3) WHEN ((p.case_pack = p.inner_pack) AND (p.inner_pack % 2 = 0)) THEN CEILING(p.inner_pack / 2) ELSE p.inner_pack END AS min_pack ... What I want to do is find the largest factorial of an integer (p.inner_pack) that is under 12. Is there a better way to do this in mysql?

  • Custom event listener on Android app

    - by Bilthon
Hi everybody, I need to set up a simple event listener to refresh a listview from once in a while. The problem is I don't know how could I generate an event. I know that for events like key or button pressing I just need to implement the handler. But in this specific case I actually need to generate the event, which will be fired everytime another running thread of my app wakes up and refreshes it's list of news from a rss feed. I've done everything, but got stucked in here. Can I get any suggestion or link with some more info on how to implement this? Thanks Nelson R. Perez

  • Is it possible to run javascript with other target?

    - by Kristoffer Nolgren
I have a facebook app that I authenticate using a general-purpose authentification. Like this: // Fixar oAuth jso_configure({ "facebook": { client_id: "393963983989013", redirect_uri: "http://resihop.herokuapp.com/", authorization: "https://www.facebook.com/dialog/oauth", presenttoken: "qs" } }); // Make sure that you have jso_ensureTokens({ "facebook": [""] }); // This dumps all cached tokens to console, for easyer debugging. //jso_dump(); jso_ensureTokens({ "facebook": [""] }); It's tirggered on document.ready. Because it's a facebook app I can't run the authentification in the iFrame. Facebook denies this using X-Frame-Options. The solution, if you authenticate with a link is to use target="_top". How do i Achieve the same effect in javascript? Maybe I need to edit one of the funcitons (though ideally not, as they are part of a library) in that case please point me in the right direction.

  • An operator == whose parameters are non-const references

    - by Eduardo León
I this post, I've seen this: class MonitorObjectString: public MonitorObject { // some other declarations friend inline bool operator==(/*const*/ MonitorObjectString& lhs, /*const*/ MonitorObjectString& rhs) { return lhs.fVal==rhs.fVal; } } Before we can continue, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: I am not questioning anyone's ability to code. I am just wondering why someone would need non-const references in a comparison. The poster of that question did not write that code. This was just in case. This is important too: I added both /*const*/s and reformatted the code. Now, we get back to the topic: I can't think of a sane use of the equality operator that lets you modify its by-ref arguments. Do you?

  • Complain about jQuery Tag's

    - by jAndy
Hi Folks, I'm complaining about the growth of jQuery tagged questions at stackoverflow. There are so many people who ask, 'How to implement a specific plugin?' or 'How to use that plugin?' which makes me kinda sick. IMO: If you Tag a question to jQuery, javascript or C, it should be a question about the language itself and not some 'goofy' little plugin. Best case scenario, Tag those questions with jquery-plugins. I know I'm breaking my own rule along with this post, but I just realized that trend and I'm really interested in other opinions about that. Kind Regards --Andy

  • How the hell do you get clients to use your bug tracking system?

    - by louism
on larger projects i use a simple bug tracking system thats designed to be used by clients i have a lot of trouble convincing clients to use it (they send bug reports via email) does anyone have any strategies they can suggested? also, i have been playing around with a theory as to why this is the case; it goes like this: asking a client to log a bug is like taking your car to a mechanic for a service, and the mechanic hands you the engine oil and says "here, pop that in". basically, the client has paid you to do the work, logging a bug sounds too much like work, so they want you to do it thoughts? -- LM

  • Php is stripping one letter "g" from my rtrim function but not other chars

    - by Chase
I'm trying to trim some youtube URLs that I am reading in from a playlist. The first 3 work fine and all their URLs either end in caps or numbers but this one that ends in a lower case g is getting trimmed one character shorter than the rest. for ($z=0; $z <= 3; $z++) { $ythref2 = rtrim($tubeArray["feed"]["entry"][$z]["link"][0]["href"], '&feature=youtube_gdata'); The URL is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuE88oVCVjg&feature=youtube_gdata .. and it should get trimmed down to .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuE88oVCVjg but instead it is coming out as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuE88oVCVj. I think it may be the ampersand symbol but I am not sure.

  • Python comparing string against several regular expressions

    - by maerics
I'm pretty experienced with Perl and Ruby but new to Python so I'm hoping someone can show me the Pythonic way to accomplish the following task. I want to compare several lines against multiple regular expressions and retrieve the matching group. In Ruby it would be something like this: STDIN.each_line do |line| case line when /^A:(.*?)$/ then puts "FOO: #{$1}" when /^B:(.*?)$/ then puts "BAR: #{$1}" # when ... else puts "NO MATCH: #{line}" end end My attempts in Python are turning out pretty ugly because the matching group is returned from a call to match/search on a regular expression and Python has no assignment in conditionals or switch statements. What's the Pythonic way to do (or think!) about this problem?

  • Why doesn't SetNotifyWindowMessage() call my WndProc()?

    - by manuel
I'm using WinForms, and I'm trying to get SetNotifyWindowMessage() to call the WndProc, but it does not do so. The function call: HRESULT initSAPI(HWND hWnd) { ... if(FAILED( g_cpRecoCtxt->SetNotifyWindowMessage( hWnd, WM_RECOEVENT, 0, 0 ))) MessageBoxW(hWnd, L"Error sending window message", L"SAPI Initialization Error", 0); ... } The WndProc: LRESULT WndProc (HWND hWnd, UINT message, WPARAM wparam, LPARAM lparam) { case WM_RECOEVENT: ProcessRecoEvent(hWnd); break; default: return DefWindowProc(hWnd, message, wParam, lParam); } Note: initSAPI() is called on a mouse click event.

  • How to show a client-side message with Java JSF/Tobago?

    - by Marcus
I have a web application created with JSF and Tobago. The user types some date into a sheet and clicks a button (all within one sheet-row). Now my java class checks whether the data is correct or not. In case there are some problems, I would like to show up something like a messagebox containing the errormessage. I cannot use something like JDialog, since this would happen only server side. Every user independently of his location needs to get the message. I thought about setting the error information into a databean and having my jsp show up the message after reloading. But how can I achieve this? Is there something like a tag which can be used for this? Or can I use the "confirmation" facet for this? But how would I start it without having the user to do something? Thanks in advance!

  • ActionScript: Determine wether superclass implements a particular interface?

    - by David Wolever
Is there any non-hacky way to determine wether a class' superclass implements a particular interface? For example, assume I've got: class A extends EventDispatcher implements StuffHolder { private var myStuff = someKindOfStuff; public function getStuff():Array { if (super is StuffHolder) // <<< this doesn't work return super['getStuff']().concat([myStuf]); return [myStuff]; } class B extends A { private var myStuff = anotherKindOfStuff; } How could I perform that super is StuffHolder test in a way that, well, works? In this case, it always returns true.

  • Ruby on Rails: how to render a string as HTML?

    - by Tim
I have @str = "<b>Hi</b>" and in my erb view: <%= @str > What will display on the page is: <b>Hi</b> when what I really want is Hi. What's the ruby way to "interpret" a string as HTML markup? Edit: the case where @str = "<span class=\"classname\">hello</span>" If in my view I do <%raw @str %> The HTML source code is <span class=\"classname\">hello</span where what I really want is <span class="classname">hello</span> (without the backslashes that were escaping the double quotes). What's the best way to "unescape" those double quotes?

  • IO completion port key confusion

    - by Richard Tew
I'm writing an IO completion port based server (source code here) using the Windows DLL API in Python using the ctypes module. But this is a pretty direct usage of the API and this question is directed at those who have a knowledge of IOCP, not Python. As I understand the documentation for CreateIoCompletionPort, you specify your "user defined" completion key when you call this function with a file handle (in my case a socket) you are associating with the created IOCP. When you get around to calling GetQueuedCompletionStatus, you get a completion key value along with a pointer to an overlapped object. The completion key should identify what overlapped object and request has completed. However, let's say I pass in 100 as the completion key in my CreateIoCompletionPort call with an overlapped object. When the same overlapped object has its IO completed and it arrives back through GetQueuedCompletionStatus, the completion key that accompanies it is much larger and bares no resemblance to the original value of 100. Am I misunderstanding how the completion key works, or must I be doing it wrong in the source code I linked above?

  • Visual Studio: What approach do you use to 'template' plumbing for similiar projects?

    - by Sosh
When building ASP.NET projects there is a certain amount of boilerplate, or plumbing that needs to be done, which is often identical across projects. This is especially the case with MVC and ALT.NET approaches. [I'm thinking of things such as: IoC, ORM, Solution structure (projects), Session Management, User Management, I18n etc.] I would like to know what approach you find best for 'reusing' this plumbing accross projects? Have a 'master solution' which you duplicate and rename somehow? (I'm using a this to a degree at the moment, but it's fairly messy. Would be interested how people do this 'better') Mainly rely on Shared Library projects? (I find this appropriate for some things, but too restrictive for things that have to be customised) Code generation tools, such as T4? (Similar to the approach used by SharpArchitecture - have not tried this myself) Something else? Thanks for sharing your experiences!

  • Disallow private constructor invocation in friend function

  • How does Twitter for iPhone bookmarklet work?

    - by Igor Zevaka
Twitter client (formerly Tweetie) allows you to define a bookmarklet in Safari that launches the app. I want to know which iPhone API allows you to register the protocol specifier (or whatever it's called) - in this case "tweetie:" - in order for this bookmarklet to work. The instructions can be found here and the bookmarklet itself is below. javascript:window.location='tweetie:'+window.location Clicking the above bookmark is the same as typing in "tweetie:http://google.com" into the address bar. This is obviously supported on the OS/Browser level, much the same as tel: URIs. Am I correct in understanding that developers can add arbitrary URI protocol specifiers as a part of app installation?

  • Xalan redirect:write , use either of two element values to create name of new .xml file depending on

So I have the following code: <redirect:write select="concat('..\\folder\\,string(filename),'.xml')"> Where "filename" is a tag in the xml source. My problem occurs when filename is null or blank. And this is the case for several of the xml filename tags. So what I am trying to implement is a checking method. This is what I have done: <xsl-if test = "filename != ''"> <xsl:variable name = "tempName" select = "filename" /> </xsl-if> <xsl-if test ="filename = ''"> <xsl:variable name = "tempName" select = "filenameB"/> </xsl-if> <redirect:write select="concat('..\\folder\\,string($tempName),'.xml')"> I seem to be getting NPEs when I compile my Java code, saying the Variable not resolvable: tempName

  • IWebBrowser2: how to force links to open in new window?

    - by Rob McAfee
The MSDN documentation on WebBrowser Customization explains how to prevent new windows from being opened and how to cancel navigation. In my case, my application is hosting an IWebBrowser2 but I don't want the user to navigate to new pages within my app. Instead, I'd like to open all links in a new IE window. The desired behavior is: user clicks a link, and a new window opens with that URL. A similar question was asked and answered here and rather than pollute that answered post, it was suggested I open a new discussion. The members on the related post suggested I should be able to do this by trapping DISPID_BEFORENAVIGATE2, setting the cancel flag, and writing code to open a new window, but I've found out that the browser control gets lots of BeforeNavigate2 events that seem to be initiated by scripts on the main page. For example, amazon.com fires BeforeNavigate2 events like crazy, and they are not a result of link invocation. Replies appreciated!

  • Retrieving Windows Mobile browser history

    - by kurige
How can I retrieve a list of urls a user has visited on a Windows Mobile phone? I've written a program that successfully retrieves the visited urls in a user's cache, using FindFirstUrlCacheEntry and FindNextUrlCacheEntry - but as I understand it this is not the same as the user's actual web history. In any case it does not seem to give correct results. Edit: I believe the file I'm looking for is index.dat. But it's certainly not in the same place it is on a desktop machine, if it exists at all. And I'm not sure how to parse it. Any experience in this area would be greatly appreciated.
