It has weird hangs and then random CPU spikes that do a ton at once.
While remoted into the VMs I get an update all at once then it hangs for another 20 seconds.
When it lets it go through I get a CPU spike.
Basic server specs for the HW node is:
8 CPUs, 16GB ram
1TB HDD total iPERC6 raid 10
The VMs are barely used but I have them spec'd at
VM 1:
4 CPUs, 4GB Ram
VM2:
4 CPUs 6GB ram
The HW node currently says it's total CPU usage is 11% AND Used Memory is at 63%out of 16GB
I'm new to this stuff so I'm not sure.
I just recently installed this and set it all up.
Please advise if you can!
I am fairly experienced with the .NET family of languages, as well as web development (from a PHP perspective.)
I am home for winter break and have limited internet access but would like to learn ASP using C#.
Am I able to do development for ASP (and see the results) for free on my laptop (with no internet access), and if so what tools do I need?
Ideally I'd like to do development in Visual Studio and see the results in my browser via localhost. Extra tools I might need would be helpful as well.

Oracle mentions the ability to connect to their LDAP server - the Oracle Internet Directory http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/network.102/b14267/olsoid.htm. Can Oracle Label Security be configured with an alternative LDAP server such as Active Directory?
I had an old computer with Windows XP. I transferred all my music, at least I hoped I had to a flash drive. Also, my computer kept giving me error messages that it could no longer sync to my Ipod Touch First Generation. I reformatted my Ipod back to original factory specs on the old computer. I have a new computer with Windows 7. I can't transfer my music from my flash drive to the ITunes Library. I also can't transfer it to my Ipod. I keep getting the message "Songs cannot be added to the Ipod because all of its space has been reserved for data." There's nothing in the Ipod memory. It's clear. What can I do? I want my music back.
I have been doing a lot of research on vSwitch configurations, but I think I am more confused now after all of the reading that I have done. So here is my situation 3 ESX Hosts (12 nics each), 1 iSCSI SAN, 2 Force 10 switches. Should I create individual vSwitches for MGMT, vMotion, VM, and SCSI traffic? or do I need to group anything together in the same vSwitch? I am going to have 4 vLANS total, one for each of those items, do I need to do any trunking on the physical switch or just assign the correct vLAN to each physical switch port?
Always when I read about SSD usage under Linux, the advice is to disable journalling in Ext4 (or use Ext2), since it's too bad for your SSD. But in all articles about SSD tweaks for Windows, I never see any mentions that you should disable NTFS journalling, or that you should stick to FAT32.
I know Ext4's journaling is more advanced, but is it so much more damaging to a SSD than that of NTFS? Or are Linux users just a little bit more cautious?
I have an Apache HTTP Server with SSL enabled and requesting a Client Certificate.
How do I set up Apache to only request the certificate when a user hits a certain part of the website?
Example:
/myapp/ should not request the cert
/myapp2/ should request the cert
Note: These applications are being served using the mod-jk
I just purchased a domain name but I don't know what I'm doing yet. Before I get a hosting account, I want to test out some things on my own http://localhost/ How do I go about pointing the DNS to my IP address for my site? Please remember I'm just getting started and I don't know all the terminology yet.
I was trying to install another OS (ubuntu) on my laptop which already had a windows 7 installation. During the Ubuntu installation, I mistakenly clicked on the first option which was to erase the disk and install. It was only after the installation, that I realized the mistake.
My question is how can I recover my original files from the windows installation even though I accidentally reformatted and installed Ubuntu?
I just watched this video on Ted.com entitled:
Joshua Foer: Feats of memory anyone can do
and it got me thinking about memory from a programmers perspective. There are so many abstract concepts and syntactic nuances we encounter daily, and yet we still manage to remember enough information to be productive.
The memory palace may help in remembering someone's name or a random story but are there any memorization techniques that can better aid programmers?

In yesterdays post, An Overview of Extended Events , I provided some of the necessary background for Extended Events that you need to understand to begin working with Extended Events in SQL Server. After receiving some feedback by email (thanks Aaron I appreciate it), I have changed the post naming convention associated with the post to reflect “2 of 31” instead of 2/31, which apparently caused some confusion in Paul Randal’s and Glenn Berry’s series which were mentioned in the round up post for...(read more)
Yesterday, a conversation on twitter reminded me that I haven't been keeping up with posting cumulative updates. I missed these updates for SQL Server 2008 on March 15: Cumulative Update #7 for SQL Server 2008 SP1 (10.00.2766) Cumulative Update #10 for SQL Server 2008 RTM (10.00.1835) And yesterday Glenn Berry ( blog | twitter ) was the first I know of to blog about Cumulative Update #9 for SQL Server 2005 SP3 (9.00.4294). He also shares some interesting information about changes to the support policy...(read more)
Back in April, Paul Randal ( Blog | Twitter ) did a 30 day series titled A SQL Server Myth a Day , where he covered a different myth about SQL Server every day of the month. At the same time Glenn Alan Berry ( Blog |Twitter) did a 30 day series titled A DMV a Day , where he blogged about a different DMV every day of the month. Being so inspired by these two guys, I have decided to attempt a month long series on Extended Events that I am going to call A XEvent a Day . I originally wanted to do this...(read more)
