  I have a J2EE application running on an IBM Websphere Application Server on a Windows Operating System. Occasionally I see an OutOfMemoryError Exception with the following information in the javacore file. 1TISIGINFO Dump Event "systhrow" (00040000) Detail "java/lang/OutOfMemoryError":"Failed to create a thread: retVal -1073741830, errno 12" received Java is run with the following configurations: -Xms512m -Xmx1350m -Xscmx50M Analyzing the javacore file, the number of threads are just 124. Analyzing the heap dump, the memory occupied by the heap is about 500Mb. Given the relatively normal number of threads and heap size a lot lower than the maximum, I am trying to figure out why I see this error? I´m not sure if this helps, but here is the top section of the javacore file...   Hi, i'm playing with Motools + MochaUI and i'm facing a problem: I'm trying to submit a form from a modal window. It is working fine, the problem is that it is reloading the parent window. The code to my Modal: MUI.newPolicyWindow = function(){ new MUI.Modal({ id: 'modalNewPolicy', title: 'New Policy', contentURL: '/policies/new', type: 'modal', width: 340, height: 180, scrollbars: false }); } And my js to handle the action (the form's name is new_policy $('new_policy').addEvent('submit', function(e){ new Event(e).stop(); this.set('send', {onComplete: function(response) { MochaUI.notification('Policy created'); MUI.closeAll(); }}); this.send() }); Note that the form is submitted, the problem is that i would like that, on Success, it just close my Modal and send this Mocha's cute notification.

  For my current project, we're using some CLR 2 based mixed mode assemblies. In order to use these from within a .NET 4 targetted assembly, I know you have to add useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy=true to the <startup> element within app.config. I understand that this changes the activation policy, causing these mixed-mode assemblies to be loaded using the highest supported version of the CLR. However, are there any side effects to doing this? What potential issues should I watch for when enabling the non-default activation policy?

We're running on ASP.NET 3.5 on Windows Server 2008. This seems to happen in batches affecting some but not all of sites on the same App Pool. We have a large number of sites all running the same code. Once a site has failed to load a DLL it throws up a Yellow Screen of Death until the next App Pool recycle. We haven't been able to reproduce this behavior and the sites seem to work fine for days or weeks at a time (and many App Pool recycles) before failing. Has anybody else seen similar behavior? Update: We've tried reproducing the failure by setting up a few hundred sites and writing a script to hit them repeatedly while recycling the App Pool once every couple of minutes and were unable to accomplish much other than loading down the server's CPU for a few days straight. We then tried messing (locking one of the DLLs, changing the file permissions) with the copies of the DLLs that ASP.NET makes and managed to reproduce similar behavior but not the same exception. Does anybody have any ideas on how to adjust the security policy to get it to throw a System.Security.Policy.PolicyException: Execution permission cannot be acquired. when loading a specific DLL?

• How do you find the disk size of a Postgres / PostgreSQL table and its indexes

  I'm coming to Postgres from Oracle and looking for a way to find the table and index size in terms of bytes/MB/GB/etc, or even better the size for all tables. In Oracle I had a nasty long query that looked at user_lobs and user_segments to give back an answer. I assume in Postgres there's something I can use in the information_schema tables, but I'm not seeing where. Thanks in advance.

• C#.NET framework 3.5 SP1: satellite assemblies and FullTrust issues when the exe is on the network.

  Hi, I'm executing my .NET app from a network share. Since framework 3.5 SP1, and as explained here: http://blogs.msdn.com/shawnfa/archive/2008/05/12/fulltrust-on-the-localintranet.aspx, the main exe and all the DLLs located in the same folder (but not subfolders) are granted with FullTrust security policy. My problem is that I have subfolders for satellite assemblies with localized strings. Namely, I have: 1) FOLDER\APP.EXE 2) FOLDER\A whole bunch of DLLs 3) FOLDER\LANGUAGE1\Satellite assemblies 4) FOLDER\LANGUAGE2\Satellite assemblies 1 and 2 are automatically granted with FullTrust. 3 and 4 are not and my application is really slow because of that. Is there a way to grant 3 & 4 FullTrust security policy at runtime, since the application running has FullTrust? If not, is there a clean way to have satellite assemblies merged into only one DLL?   Is there any way to Linkify a specific TextView that is contained within a ListView? I tried using android:autoLink="all" but that didn't work. I was getting an out of context error. Important also to note: the ListView is my second view in the ViewFlipper. I have also tried: View mItemView = mAdapter.getView(2, null, null); TextView infoText = (TextView) mItemView.findViewById(R.id.rowText2); Linkify.addLinks(infoText, Linkify.ALL); Right after the adapter was bound to the ListView and the View was switched. No luck. • Why load increase ,ssd iops increase but cpu iowait decrease?

  There is a strange thing on my server which has a mysql running on it. The QPS is more than 4000 but TPS is less than 20. The server load is more than 80 and cpu usr is more than 86% but iowait is less than 8%. The disk iops is more than 16000 and util of disk is more than 99%. When the QPS decreases, the load decreases, the cpu iowait increases.   If I start ant compile in JDeveloper all classes are compiled successfully and copied to the classes folder. But if I run ant compile from console then no classes are copied to the classes folder. Does anyone know why?   Hi everyone! I am trying to load external SWFs in my Adobe AIR App. The loaded SWF is trying to access an URL to retrieve some informations via XML. When starting the SWF by itself it works fine. When loading the SWF from the File.applicationStorageDirectory i will get an Security-Error because the loaded App is executed in a local-with-filesystem Sandbox appareantly. First Question: Is there a way to change this? That the loaded SWF is running in a network Sandbox? Since that first attempt didn't worked i've moved the SWF to the app:// directory. Now i'll get a Security-Error because there is no policy file on the Server available where the XML data should be retrieved. Second Question: Why is the policy file not necessary when running the SWF by itself, but is necessary when trying to load the data from the application Sandbox? What am i doing wrong? Everything works fine on this application. But now I need to write another client-server application. Server for that application olso use port 943 for policy connection. I'd like to put some sort of visual indicator on the screen if in overtype mode. How can you determine if the browser is in 'overtype mode' from Javascript? Is there some property or function i can query to determine if the browser is in overtype mode? Even an IE-specific solution would be helpful, since our corporate policy dictates the browser to use as IE7 (pure torture, btw). (I do know that one solution is to do check for key presses of the Insert key. However, it's a solution that I'd prefer to avoid since that method seems a bit flaky & error-prone because I can't guarantee what mode the user would be in BEFORE he/she hits my page. ) The reasoning behind this question: The functionality of this portion of the green-screen app is such that the user can select from a list of 'preformatted bodies of text'. crude eg. The excess for this policy is: $xxxxxx and max limit is:$xxxxxx Date of policy is: xx/xx/xxxx and expires : xx/xx/xxxx Some other irrelevant text After selecting this 'preformatted text', the user would then use overtype to replace the x's with actual values, without disturbing the alignment of the rest of the text. (To be clear, they can still edit any part of the 'preformatted text' if they so wished. It's just that usually, they just wish to replace specific portions of the text. Keeping the alignment is important since these sections of text can end up on printed documents.) Of course, the same effect can be achieved by just selecting the x's to replace first, but it would be helpful (with respect to easing the transition to the web app) to allow old methods of doing things to continue to work, while still allowing 'web methods' to be used by the more tech-savvy users. Essentially, we're trying to make the initial transition from the green-screen app to the web app be as seemless as possible to minimise the resistance from the long-time green-screeners.

I happen to have a hundreds-of-megabytes SQLite database that could very well benefit from "improved performance, concurrency, scalability, and reliability", but Oracle's site appears to lack any measurements of the improvements. I created a private bucket I created a public distribution and used origin id to connect to the private bucket: works I created a private distribution and connected it the same as #3 - now I get access denied: expected I'm having a really hard time generating a url that will work. • How do you find the disk size of a Postgres table and its indexes

  I'm coming to Postgres from Oracle and looking for a way to find the table and index size in terms of bytes/MB/GB/etc, or even better the size for all tables. In Oracle I had a nasty long query that looked at user_lobs and user_segments to give back an answer. I assume in Postgres there's something I can use in the information_schema tables, but I'm not seeing where. Thanks in advance.

  My iPhone app embeds a UIWebView which loads html via a custom NSProtocol handler I have registered. My problem is that resources referenced in the returned html, which are also loaded via my custom protocol handler, are cached and never reloaded. I'd rather not do this. My presumption is that there is no problem if I were to load my content via the built-in HTTP protocol. In that case, I'm guessing that the UIWebView looks at any Cache-Control flags in the NSURLHTTPResponse object's http headers and abides by them. Since my NSURLResponseObject has no http headers (it's not http...) then perhaps UIWebView just decides to cached the resource (ignoring the NSURLRequest caching directive?). Ideas???

  Hi, I have incorporated tinymce into my application. When i execute the jsp standalone, the print size seem consistent to what it should be i.e. 12Pt comes out as 12pt. Whereas when i run the same jsp from oracle developer using oracle application server 12pt comes out to be more like 8pt. Any thoughts. Please share any pointers. Thanks, Ashok
