  • How to organize Python modules for PyPI to support 2.x and 3.x

    - by Craig McQueen
I have a Python module that I would like to upload to PyPI. So far, it is working for Python 2.x. It shouldn't be too hard to write a version for 3.x now. But, after following guidelines for making modules in these places: Distributing Python Modules The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Packaging it's not clear to me how to support multiple source distributions for different versions of Python, and it's not clear if/how PyPI could support it. I envisage I would have separate code for: 2.x 2.6 (maybe, as a special case to use the new buffer API) 3.x How is it possible to set up a Python module in PyPI so that someone can do: easy_install modulename and it will install the right thing whether the user is using 2.x or 3.x?

Please advise! Thanks for your help.

  • reStructuredText tool support

    - by Chen Levy
I love reStructuredText, however the tools that support it are scattered all over the Internet. The official tool list is incomplete and/or outdated, and can be updated only via commit privileges. For some time there was a comprehensive list at the Wikipedia reStructuredText page, but this apparently "may not meet the notability guideline for web content" and is scheduled for removal. So to put it in a question form: What tool support can one expect to find when working with reStructuredText, e.g. text editors, Wiki software, converters to and from reStructuredText etc.?

  • Does OpenRasta support Mono?

    - by Earlz
Although Mono support is not a big deal for us, I figured OpenRasta supported it cause it has some commit messages about it.. Well, I tried to build it on Mono and got Ambiguous type references(after manually creating like 10 obj directories.) So I tried just using the prebuilt assemblies I had on hand and that gave me an Object Reference Not Set To Instance of an Object (the usual error I have with mono.. ) at OpenRasta.Diagnostics.DebuggerLoggingTraceListener.WriteAll (using xsp2) Is there official support for Mono or am I missing some sorta extra step for deployment?

  • Subfolders in App_GlobalResources (ASP.NET)

    - by frankadelic
Is it possible to put resource files (.resx) within subfolders inside App_GlobalResources? For example: /App_GlobalResources/someresources/myfile.resx /App_GlobalResources/someresources/myfile.fr-fr.resx /App_GlobalResources/othereresources/otherfile.resx /App_GlobalResources/othereresources/otherfile.fr-fr.resx Or, are all the .resx files placed directly inside App_GlobalResources? If it is possible to use subfolders, how do you programmatically access resources within subfolders?

  • Safari box shadow inset support

    - by codedude
I have a box in one of my websites that has a these property: -moz-box-shadow:inset 0 0 50px #ecf4de; -webkit-box-shadow:inset 0 0 50px #ecf4de; box-shadow:inset 0 0 50px #ecf4de; This gives the box a nice gradient towards the center. However, Safari does not support the "inset" property and IE doesn't support box-shadow at all. I can't use an image for this because the height of this box changes for each situation. I don't want to use 3 images, (one for the top, a repeating one for the middle and one for the bottom), as this can get very messy code. So what I'm asking is if there is any way to produce the box shadow in all browsers.

  • Embed resource in .NET Assembly without assembly prefix?

    - by Robert Fraser
Hi all, When you embed a reosurce into a .NET assembly using Visual Studio, it is prefixed with the assembly name. However, assemblies can have embedded resources that are not assembly-name-prefixed. The only way I can see to do this is to disassemble the assembly using ildasm, then re-assemble it, adding the new resource -- which works, but... do I really need to finish that sentence? (Desktop .NET Framework 3.5, VS 2008 SP1, C#, Win7 Enterprise x64) Thanks, All the best, Robert

  • Apple iPad and PDF support

    - by STeN
Hi, I have few questions related to the PDF and its use on the Apple iPad: 1) Does the iPad support all Quartz PDF functions (i.e. all CGPDFxxx functions/classes)? 2) Does the iPad support the PDF Kit? 3) Is it possible with any of one of both APIs, based on the coordinates of the finger touch to detect the underlying PDF item (e.g. article, text, annotations) ? 4) What is the difference between the Quartz PDF functions and PDF Kit? Thanks a lot Regards, STeN

  • What DVCS support Unicode filenames?

    - by Craig McQueen
I'm interested in trying out distributed version control systems. git sounds promising, but I saw a note somewhere for the Windows port of git that says "don't use non-ASCII filenames". I can't find that now, but there is this link. It's put me off git for now, but I don't know if the other options are any better. Support for non-ASCII filenames is essential for my Japanese company. I'm looking for one that internally stores filenames as Unicode, not a platform-dependent encoding which would cause endless grief. So: What DVCS support Unicode filenames? In both Windows and Linux? Ideally, with the possibility to transfer repositories between Windows and Linux machines with minimal issues?

  • Add JSON support to Rails app

    - by Meltemi
I am experimenting with Rails and was wondering what's needed to allow/add support for JSON requests? I have a vanilla installation of Rails 2.3.5 and the default scaffolding seem to provide support for HTML & XML requests but not JSON. class EventsController < ApplicationController # GET /events # GET /events.xml def index @events = Event.all respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @events } end end # GET /events/1 # GET /events/1.xml def show @event = Event.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @event } end end ... I'm new to this but it would appear as though i would need to add a format line in each method along the lines of: format.js { render :js => @event.json } couldn't this be done automatically? perhaps there's a template somewhere i need to update...or a flag i can set? Or perhaps, and most likely, I've missed the boat entirely?!?

  • Java Localization & ResourceManager

    - by Gopalakrishnan Subramani
I want to add resources to my netbeans project but I don't know where to add or how to get the added resource via ResourceManager so that I can localize the text. I could not find any dummy guide to add the resource files and read the localized strings using resource manager. What is the format of the resource file? It is .properties or a xml file? Can you help me?

  • iPhone dev: load a file from resource folder

    - by thomax
I'm writing an iPhone app with a UIWebView which should display various html files I have in the app resource folder. In xcode my project overview, these html files are displayed like this: dirA |---> index.html |---> a1.html |---> a2.html |---> my.css |---> dirB |---> b1.html |---> b2.html |---> dirC |---> c1.html |---> c2.html These resources where added to the project as such: - Checked "Copy items into destination groups folder (if needed)". - Reference type: Default. - Text encoding: Unicode (utf-8). - Recursively create groups for any added folders. The links in my html are relative, meaning they look like this: <a href="a1.html">a2</a> <a href="a2.html">a2</a> <a href="dirB/b2.html">b2</a> <a href="dirC/c1.html">b2</a> In order to display the index.html when the app starts up, I use the following code: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"index" ofType:@"html"]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:path]; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [webView loadRequest:request]; This works fine. Following links from the index file also works fine, as long as the html files requested are directly under dirA. If the link followed points to a file in a sub-directory, then didFailLoadWithError will catch the situation and report that the requested file does not exist. Note that [webView loadHtmlString:myHtml]; cannot be part of the solution, as I need back and forward buttons to work in my web view. So the question is: How can I follow a relative link to an html file in a sub directory within my resources? I've been all over stackoverflow and the rest of the tubes for the past few days trying to figure this one out, but nowhere have I come across the solution to this exact problem. Any insight at all would be very, very much appreciated!

  • why custom state won't work with compound drawable?

    - by schwiz
    Hello I am trying to make a password registration widget that will show a little checkbox in the textbox when both password boxes match. I decided to go about this by extending EditText to implement a valid and an empty state and then just use a state-list drawable to handle everything else. I followed the same method that the CompoundButton uses to add a custom state and everything seems to be right but the image will never change no matter what the state is (custom state or even state_focused etc) Is there some reason that the compound drawables of a TextView wouldn't work as a state-list drawable? Or, am I doing something wrong? Here is attrs.xml <resources> <declare-styleable name="ValidyState"> <attr name="state_valid" format="boolean"/> <attr name="state_has_text" format="boolean"/> </declare-styleable> </resources> my selector <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/com.schwiz.test"> <item android:drawable="@drawable/emptyspace" app:state_has_text="false"/> <item android:drawable="@drawable/ic_valid" app:state_valid="true" app:state_has_text="true"/> <item android:drawable="@drawable/ic_invalid" app:state_valid="false" app:state_has_text="true"/> </selector> and in my overridden EditText class private static final int[] VALID_STATE_SET = { R.attr.state_valid }; private static final int[] HASTEXT_STATE_SET = { R.attr.state_has_text }; ... private void refreshDrawables(){ Drawable[] drawables = getCompoundDrawables(); for(int i = 0; i < drawables.length; i++){ if(drawables[i] != null) { drawables[i].setState(getDrawableState()); } } invalidate(); } @Override protected void drawableStateChanged() { super.drawableStateChanged(); refreshDrawables(); } @Override protected int[] onCreateDrawableState(int extraSpace) { final int[] drawableState = super.onCreateDrawableState(extraSpace + 2); if(hasText){ mergeDrawableStates(drawableState, HASTEXT_STATE_SET); } if(isValid){ mergeDrawableStates(drawableState, VALID_STATE_SET); } return drawableState; }

    - by Mike
