• What one feature available in other IDEs should be added to Xcode? [closed]

  This is inspired by Which features from other IDEs/editors you wish you have in Visual Studio? Xcode is a very different tool from Visual Studio, with a different feature set. While some of its capabilities are very mature (it had RAD UI layout in Interface Builder since before most other platforms), it lacks some features that e.g. Visual Studio or Eclipse provide. If you could request one feature to be added to Xcode, which would it be? How would that feature help you write better code, or write the same code faster?

• How do I install Ubuntu on an HP Touchsmart 600?

  I have a hp touchsmart 600 pc series. I tried to install the lastest version of ubuntu (12.04 LTS, 64bits) but it would not install. I popped in the cd and the menu asked for a reboot. Which I did. As ubuntu was about to install(purple background with 2 symbols underneth) the screen was dark and a prompt kept blinking for like over 10 minutes. So I turned off my pc and loaded my window os. I ran ubuntu again and used the help install feature. Needless to say the same thing happen again! does ubuntu work on hp touchsmart computers?

• Chrome dispay Glich when GPU acc. on

  Hy Everyone! I have some graphics glich when enable gpu acc. in chrome. If i disable acceleraion it fix the glich but, in full HD most of flash videos frame rate drop above frogs a**, so very slow... :) Any idea, what can i do? I Upload 2 pics from glich. My hardware: CM Hyper TX 3 on AMD A5300 with HD 7480D 6 GB RAM I use official AMD driver from amd.com, Ubuntu 14.04(I upgraded from 12.04, in Ubuntu 12, same glitch with old drivers.) I reinstalld x.org completly and purge all config files, but this didnt resolve the problem. • Java still dont recognize horizontal scroll (right click) 14.04

  I am totally trackpoint fan, I use it all the time and have disablet my touchpad. Due to my study I work a lot with MATLAB, but MATLAB uses Java, and horizontal scroll does not be recognized by java as I already reat in many other threats(well it recognizes as right click :S ). There seems to be no solution for that and disable horizontal scroll in matlab is no solution for me at all. Does anybody know about a fix for that or somehow to enable horizontal scroll java. This really drives me crazy. HELP! • Internet stopped working suddenly on 12.04

  My laptop was running smoothly until yesterday. Today, I can't connect to the Internet at home anymore. I am only able to access the router, but no Internet access. A have a Dell Latitude E6320 with Ubuntu 12.04. At my job, I don't have any problems connecting this laptop both via Wireless and Ethernet. At home, if I try connecting it through Windows, it does work fine. I even checked the MAC address and it's OK. My other laptop, which also runs Ubuntu, is not facing this problem. I have already tried to restart and downgrade network-manager package and its dependencies. Can anyone help me please? I am afraid, I will have to reinstall everything.

• I'm trying to install Bruteforce Savedata from the archiver

  I've just installed UBUNTU 12.04 for curiosity purposes. I'm a gamer and I wanted to install Brute force Save data on my comp. So i download it and it open in the Archive manager i go to run the ".exe" but encounter this message Archive: /home/c4/Desktop/Bruteforce_Save_Data_installer.exe [/home/c4/Desktop/Bruteforce_Save_Data_installer.exe] End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive.   I'm new to Ubuntu and the Linux world (switched from mac to linux) and i have a problem: I'm studyin industrial-design and a lot of my work depends on my wacom cintiq 24 HD. My problem is that ubuntu doesn't find my cintiq. I googled for wacom drivers and found the linux wacom project. The problem for me is that i hardly understand anything of what i have to do... Is there anyone who can tell me how i can set up my 24HD or is there an easy way for people who are new to linux like me. I really really like linux and want to stay with it but that isn't possible for me without my cintiq. I would be very greatefull for any help!

• Lenovo z470 getting hot, after 12.04 install

  When I was using Windows 7 my notebook temperature was very good, it stayed very cool. After I installed 12.04, my notebook base is hot all the time, I cannot even put my hands on it for a long time. My notebook has a 2nd generation Intel i5 processor. I installed Jupiter and it shows 72 Degrees Celsius constantly. Anyone got a fix for this? I don't want to go back to windows but if I do not find any solution I will have to do it. I'd be very grateful for any help.

  Our shop has identified several reasons why releasing our software solutions to the open source community would be a good idea. However, there are several reasons from a business stand point why converting our shop to open source would be questioned. I need help from anyone out there who has gone through this transition, or is in the process. Specifically a government entity. About our shop: - We develop and support web and client applications for the local law enforcement community. - We are NOT a private company, rather a public sector entity Some questions that tend to come about when we have this discussion are: We're a government agency, so isn't our code already public? How do we protect ourselves from being 'hacked' if someone looks into our code? (There are obvious answers to this question like making sure you don't hard code passwords, etc. However, the discussion needs to consider an audience of executives who are very security conscience.)

• Lubuntu 14.04 graphics problem on portege r100

  first of all I have to say that I am not an expert. I have installed Lubuntu 14.04 on my Portege R100. The problem is that the graphics session does not start. Actually I can do all but only by command line. I try to start Xsession but nothing happens. Actually by typing startx the system stop to works. I read several threads on this topic but I did not find such kind of problem. There is something similar about portege r100 concerning lowgraphics mode but the porblem I have seems to be different because graphics session does not start. Can anyone help me ? Thank you Best

• Can't start x session after updating packages

  I have recently upgraded to 12.04 and all seems ok except adobe flash plugin doesn't work. But one several days ago when I installed several update packages and rebooted the x session was unable to start and it automatically switches to console 1 for commandline login. What's frustrating is there's essentially no error messages when I click alt+F7 to see what's going on with the x session. There are a bunch of [ok]'s and the last line seems to be something like 'starting x font server' and it just hang there. The closest thing to an error is something like 'stopping system V compatability (*words I can't remember*) ... [ok]'. This is nearly the most frustrating experience I've ever had with linux in the past 10 years. Can anyone help me?

  I'm a 3rd year Computer Science student and I would like to get started with building a game engine or at least tinkering with making one. I am curious if there are any good resources to use to get started. I get the idea behind different pieces in the engine, but I'm not really sure about how they fit together. Is there anything out there to help teach me the skeleton of a game engine? So far I've been playing with the idea of a game engine that uses modules built in a circular linked list so that each can do it's computing and then pass move to the next piece of the engine to work.

  Lets say I have a link: <a href="/about/">About Us</a> But in Javascript [or jQuery] catches it and then adds the hash based off of the href attribute: $('a').click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); // Extremely oversimplified.. window.location.hash = $(this).attr('href'); }); And then we use a hashchange event to do the general 'magic' of Ajax requests. This allows for the actual href to be seen by crawlers, but gives client-side users with JS enabled an ajax-based website. Does this 'help' the general SEO issues that come along with hashtags? I know hashbangs are 'ok', but afaik they aren't reliable?

I've done this for several open-source projects (specifically D compilers) where I wanted to help out but the codebase was too complicated to learn my way around in the amount of spare time I have. I'm interested in both the perspective of the main developers (those that write the code and fix the bugs) and from the perspective of employers (in case I want to put it on my resume at some point).

• Sometimes my page can't access PHP session varible

  I am working on E-commerce Web Application, which is having users and permissions to them.. So according to their permission, For Ex: I am storing variable $chk = 'write' or $chk = 'read' on session and my condition is if ($chk == 'write') { // some function here to modify the page & its content // If true, then display SAVE button to save all changes made. } But, Sometimes my page cant access this variable, the value of $chk is unknown hence its not displaying SAVE button. But, it shows the button after refreshing the page or visiting sometime later. Can anyone help me to solve this.. Thanks in advance

  I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 recently and also downloaded Skype 4.1 (Ubuntu 12.04 multiarch). I installed it but every time I have a conversation, or a call, it crashes. Does anybody know why this happens?? I have also tried to install the Skype version Ubuntu 10.04 32bit, but the same thing happens. Also I have uninstalled and installed again more than 2 for each one, and restarted the laptop in between. Please help me!! I really need skype!!

I am quite inexperienced in the field of Java but I have researched into it and learned that it is perhaps my best bet in creating this project is Java for the fact that it has a much easier learning curve than C++ to beginners and still capable of holding massive amounts of players at a time. My question is simple: Should I start the game by creating a single player prototype and introducing multiplayer later as I become more experienced or start with multiplayer before I am completely experienced in the field. • Ubuntu 14.04 + nvidia-331-updates makes a blank desktop screen

  I upgraded my installation from 13.10 to 14.04. The problem is that whenever I install the Nvidia drivers from the GUI, upon reboot or trying to login again it only shows the wallpaper of my desktop and nothing else. The mouse does move around, but nothing works. I am unable to open a terminal or do anything else. If I go into the tty console and purge the drivers, then things seem to work again. I have an Optimus setup, with an onboard Intel and discrete Nvidia GTX770M card. It's a 64-bit architecture. I really need to work with CUDA, and was hopeful after hearing that nvidia-prime was released, but this is a real downer. Any help on this?
