  • Serving a default image with nginx

    I have the following configuration in nginx: location /static/ { root /srv/kose/; expires 2w; access_log off; } location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8089; } If a file is not found in /static/, I want to serve a default image, and not proxy_pass to 8089. Currently, it looks for the file in the root for static, if it cannot find it, it tries the proxy. I have tried the following, but it doesn't work. How can I tell nginx to serve the default image? I have also tried try_files to no avail. location /static/ { root /srv/kose/; expires 2w; access_log off; error_page 404 /srv/static/defaultimage.jpg; } location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8089; }

  • Nginx config - serving index.html not working

    I can't figure out how to redirect / to index.html. I've gone through the threads on serverfault and I think I've tried every suggestion including: rewrite statements within location / index index.html at the server level, within location / and within static content moving node.js proxy statements to location ~ /i instead of within location / Obviously something is wrong somewhere else in my configuration.   • Nginx return 444 depending on upstream response code

    I have nginx setup to pass to an upstream using proxy pass. The upstream is written to return a 502 http response on certain requests, rather then returning the 502 with all the header I would like nginx to recoginse this and return 444 so nothing is returned. Is this possible?   • Is there any way to change the VirtualBox "snapshot" folder for an existing virtual machine?

    I have a virtual machine which is currently using a folder on the C: drive to store its snapshots. I have copied the contents of the "Snapshots" folder to an alternate drive, but whenever I go into the General / Advanced settings section for that virtual machine and change the snapshot folder to the new location it resets back to the original location. What do I need to do to get VirtualBox to recognize the new location for the snapshot files?

    I have managed to get all /admin requests redirected to https by: server { listen 80; location /admin { rewrite ^ https://$server_name$request_uri?$args permanent; } } But can't figure out how to get all https requests that are not within /admin redirected to http, so far I have: server { listen 443; location ~ /admin { rewrite ^ http://$server_name$request_uri?$args permanent; } } EDIT: I have got the redirects working as required but can't stop the /admin url going to 404.   • I wrote a new X11 keyboard layout file, how do I get my system to recognize it?

    I like to configure my keys my way, so I wrote a keyboard symbols file and I put it in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/cat I use it by running setxkbmap cat -variant dvorak (and it works), but it doesn't show up in the console configuration (dpkg-reconfigure console-setup) nor in the Gnome keyboard settings... nor anywhere else, so I have to run setxkbmap every time. I suppose that I have to register it somewhere, but where? Any hints? Thanks!

The first file lists all of the photos, about 600 images, but they have zero bytes. The other 2 files are fine.     How do I use a period in a Quicksilver object to do things like search for a file with a period? By default pressing period anywhere in an object causes Quicksilver to switch to text mode. Optimally I would like period to only enter text mode when its at the start of the object. Or perhaps there is a wildcard I can use (* doesn't seem to work and . obviously doesn't :). Or perhaps there is an escape sequence for period?

Is this to say that: If the rewrite pattern matches, process the rewrite (rewrite to target) but do not process any of the other rules in the location block, and process all other (cache, proxy, etc) directives in the location block?     I'm looking for a way to set a group of File Types to "Index Properties and File Contents" (Control Panel, Indexing Options, Advanced Options, File Types). Basically I'd like to write a batch file that switches that setting for a large group of file types and be able to share it with my entire team. Clicking in the UI is time consuming for everyone. This is a great solution for bringing up the GUI, but I'd like to create a batch file What is the command line for Indexing Options?
