I'm looking to create a simple form with some textfields and a button using the Android SDK. Could someone point out a good example or tutorial for getting started?
I'm trying to locate the "throbber" (or "spinner") image used in the Firefox 3.6x chrome to show that a request is being processed:
I'm not familiar with the source code structure for Firefox, and a simple search hasn't yielded the answer.
Does anyone know which file I'm looking for? (E.g. can you provide a link to the file in the Mercurial repository, or tell me how to find it?).
I have a select from (nothing to complex)
Select * from VIEW
This view has about 6000 records and about 40 columns. It comes from a Lotus Notes SQL database. So my ODBC drive is the LotusNotesSQL driver. The query takes about 30 seconds to execute. The company I worked for used EXCEL to run the query and write everything to the worksheet. Since I am assuming it writes everything cell by cell, it used to take up to 30 - 40 minutes to complete.
I then used MS access. I made a replica local table on Access to store the data. My first try was
INSERT INTO COLUMNS OF LOCAL TABLE
FROM (SELECT * FROM VIEW)
note that this is pseudocode. This ran successfully, but again took up to 20 - 30 minutes. Then I used VBA to loop through the data and insert it in manually (using an INSERT statement) for each seperate record. This took about 10 - 15 minutes. This has been my best case yet.
What i need to do after:
After i have the data, I need to filter through it by department. The thing is if I put a where clause in the SQL query (the time jumps from 30 seconds to execute the query, to about 10 minutes + the time to write to local table/excel). I dont know why. MAYBE because the columns are all text columns?
If we change some of the columns to integer, would that make it faster in terms of the where clause?
I am lookingfor suggestions on how to approach this. My boss has said we could employ some Java based solution. Will this help? I am not a java person but a c#, and maybe I'll convince them to use c# as well, but i am mainly lookingfor suggestions on how to cut down the time. I've already cut it down from 40 minutes to 10 minutes, but the want it under 2 minutes.
Just to recap:
Query takes about 30 seconds to exceute
Query takes about 15 - 40 minutes to be used locally in excel/acess
Need it under 2 minutes
Could use java based solution
You may suggest other solutions instead of java.
I am lookingfor the best way to augment multiple javascript associative arrays.
For example the following code
a = { "one" : 1, "two" : 2 };
b = { "three" : 3 };
c = { "four" : 4, "five" : 5 };
d = Collect(a,b,c)
Should result in value of d being:
{ "one" : 1, "two" : 2, "three" : 3, "four" : 4, "five" : 5 };
What is the best way to do this?
Hi,
I am implementing a SPA tree algorithm and is lookingfor a Visual Studio plugin that let me visualize objects and their relationsships in debug/runtime.
Visualization like:
[0]-----[1]
| \ /
[2] \ /
| [4]
[3] | \
\ | [6]

Any ideas?
I am looking to set up a mail relay so that any mail sent to for example

(from the following web site http://evolt.org/incoming_mail_and_php)
Con figure an Aliases such as

then any emails sent to [email protected] will be passed to the script given..
but how can I make it that every email to @example.com is passed to the script?

Hi. I'm looking into sentence recognition to make a program that should play voice clips from the game Team Fortress 2. I have .wav files and text files containing the transcription for every sound. What I'd like to make is a system that makes two characters of the game talk to each other (trough playing sound clips), and each one recognises the sense of what the other is saying and tries to answer with another of the available sound clips (trying its best to fit the sense of what it's trying to say)
Is that possible in any way?
Hi,
I am lookingfor how to write a method that accepts some value and returns a proxy to that value where the underlying value can be retrieved with an accessor:
def p = toProxy(1)
assert p == 1
assert p * 2 == 2
assert p.underlying == 1
def p2 = toProxy(objWithMethodFoo)
p2.foo()
p2.underlying.foo()
I want to do this per object instance (not for all objects of some class) and without the need to use special 'use' constructs.
at workplace, the work I do is hardly near to challenging and doing that I think I might be loosing the skills to look at a completely new problem and think about different ideas to solve it.
A friend suggested TopCoder.com to me, but looking at the overwhelming number of problems I can not decide how to get started?
what I want is to sharpen my techniques ( not particular language or framework ).
Hello,
I am lookingfor any kind information that shows the difference between Facebook and Twitter APIs. (IE what you can retrieve via API, privacy difference etc) for my graduation thesis as a starting point.
I will be grateful if you point out any source of information.
I wonder if some of you would like the idea to collect in this place features/improvements we would like to see most in visual studio, vote for them and then send them (these with the most votes) to VS Team. Maybe some of them would make their way into another release of VS.
Looking forward to see what you're thinking about it.
I am fairly new to mocking frameworks and was trying to decide which one will be a good bet to start working on. I have been looking at this question about the best mocking framework, and I can see a lot of people preferring moq, but when i saw the moq project's change list, i can see that it has not been updated for almost an year now.
Is moq project dead? if yes, which will be a good mocking framework to start with today?
I'm looking to put an application window behind all other windows.
I was thinking of using .NET 4 and WPF or Silverlight.
I don't have any specific drawing code, I just want my application window as my desktop wallpaper while retaining the interactivity (no mucking around with screenshots etc).
Is this even possible and if so, how?
Edit: I'm using Windows 7 x64.
I'm looking at moving a program that currently embeds a Python interpreter to use Lua. With Python it's fairly easy to use modulefinder, compileall, and zipfile to make a nice tidy zip containing all the external libraries used.
Does Lua have the ability to bundle up its libraries like that, or is there some better best practice for distributing programs that embed Lua?
I've been looking at the Stanford University iphone videos on iTunes U. And saw the teacher trying to do something similar to this code but he realised and said it didn't work though I didn't get why:
- (IBAction)flashPressed{
if (window.backgroundColor == [UIColor magentaColor]){
window.backgroundColor = [UIColor redColor];
}else {
window.backgroundColor = [UIColor magentaColor];
}
}
Objective-C, windows based application. Not sure what else you need to know.
It's been a while since I am struggling to find a backup solution for cold backup of Oracle database on Linux in VMware. I am obviously not lookingfor entire vm image backup.
The TouchUtils class in the android documentation has functions like drag() [http://developer.android.com/intl/de/reference/android/test/TouchUtils.html#drag(android.test.InstrumentationTestCase,%20float,%20float,%20float,%20float,%20int)], but they do not support multi touch gestures, like a two finger swipe.
Looking at the MotionEvent.obtain() methods, there does not seem to be any way of invoking a "virtual" multi touch event from a testcase.
Anyone has got it working?
I'm new to iphone development. I want to develop a multi-timezone enabled alarm clock which can be run on iphone. But i'm not sure whether it is possible to run a timer in the background even if the application quits.
If not then is there any other way to do that.
Looking forwadr to any kind of help.
Thanks in advance

Has anyone played around with the architecture tools (uml diagrams, etc) in VS 2010 and if so what is your opinion? I really am liking Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect but am also curious about what is available in VS 2010. I'm not lookingfor responses about how much you hate Microsoft tools or love mircosoft tools, but more for answers about how useful VS2010 arc tools are for you.
Looking for a movie/TV API that offers previews (trailers), via widgets or links, as well.
I know IMDB has an API, but it only has metadata. Internet Video Archive also has an API, but, well, lets just say they seem a bit incompetent.
I could use YouTube, but I'd get a lot of cruft and unofficial results. Anyone else have any ideas?
Hi, I've done a far bit of research on this via Google and there seems to be quite a few ways of possibly doing this.
I'm looking to incrementally backup new and updated files in two directories on my Plesk run Centos 5.2 server: /backups and /var/www/vhosts (preferable only httdocs within each vhost)
Has anyone got some great feedback from using the various solutions - seems to be various Java, Perl and Ruby based solutions out there.
Many thanks,
Chris
Given a 1*N matrix or an array, how do I find the first 4 elements which have the same value and then store the index for those elements?
PS:
I'm just curious. What if we want to find the first 4 elements whose value differences are within a certain range, say below 2? For example, M=[10,15,14.5,9,15.1,8.5,15.5,9.5], the elements I'm lookingfor will be 15,14.5,15.1,15.5 and the indices will be 2,3,5,7.
How can I use more than one constant for a switch case C#? Conceptually, I'm lookingfor something like this:
switch(n)
{
case 1,2,3: //????
case 4:
default:
}
