  • Objective-C retain counts in dealloc

    - by Michael Waterfall
I'm seeing something fairly strange here, I've got breakpoints set in various dealloc methods in my app, and on inspection, the retain counts of the object self varies from 1 to 0. When dealloc is called, will the retain count of the object be set to 0 already? I'm using print (int) [self retainCount] in the console to test this. The 0's seem to only appear in the dealloc of my NSOperation's that are being run in an NSOperationQueue. Any idea why this is?

  • Load large images into Bitmap?

    - by GuyNoir
I'm trying to make a basic application that displays an image from the camera, but I when I try to load the .jpg in from the sdcard with BitmapFactory.decodeFile, it returns null. It doesn't give an out of memory error which I find strange, but the exact same code works fine on smaller images. How does the generic gallery display huge pictures from the camera with so little memory?

  • RequiredFieldValidator not working.

    - by ProfK
With the following simple mark-up, I get very strange behaviour in FF and IE8. If I give the textbox focus, and tab out, nothing happens. If I give a user name value, and erase it immediately, nothing happens. However, only when I supply a user name, tab away, the erase it and tab away again, do I finally get a red star "required" mark. The summary doesn't show at all.

  • GWT 2.0 and Dynamic (or lack thereof) Grids

    - by nick
Still new to GWT and was attempting to create a dynamic grid using the UiBinder. However I got a strange (and horribly misleading) error about the tag for grid not being properly closed. After a bit of research I found out Grid isn't currently supported for UiBinding. For those of you in the 2.0 world how have you been handling tabular layout?

  • Detect outgoing calls and problem with a real device

    - by Tobia Loschiavo
Hi, I have a strange problem. To detect outgoing calls I have registered a broadcast receiver for android.intent.action.PHONE_STATE. When the state becomes OFFHOOK, then a conversation is started. It seems working on emulator: the debugger in fact reaches some code while it doesn't work on real device (Acer Liquid). Is it possible? Which is a way to detect outgoing calls? Thanks

  • SDL_GL_SwapBuffers Segfault

    - by RyanG
I'm getting a segfault that GDB says is coming from SDL_GL_SwapBuffers. However, I can't imagine why. The SDL documentation mentions no specific pre-conditions for calling swapBuffers except that double buffering be allowed. Is this an option I have to turn on while initializing OpenGL or is this a hardware capability thing? My code: http://pastie.org/859721 (Ignore the unused variables, strange comments and other things. I haven't prettied this up at all. :P)

  • R: preventing unlist to drop NULL values

    - by nico
    I'm running into a strange problem. I have a vector of lists and I use unlist on them. Some of the elements in the vectors are NULL and unlist seems to be dropping them. How can I prevent this? Here's a simple (non) working example showing this unwanted feature of unlist a = c(list("p1"=2, "p2"=5), list("p1"=3, "p2"=4), list("p1"=NULL, "p2"=NULL), list("p1"=4, "p2"=5)) unlist(a) p1 p2 p1 p2 p1 p2 2 5 3 4 4 5

  • Why is "int + string" possible in statically-typed C# but not in dynamically-typed Python?

    - by Salvador Dali
While studying C# I found it really strange, that dynamically typed Python will rise an error in the following code: i = 5 print i + " " whereas statically typed C# will normally proceed the similar code: int i = 5; Console.Write(i + " "); I would expect other way around (in python I would be able to do this without any casting, but C# would require me to cast int to string or string to int). Just to highlight, I am not asking what language is better, I am curious what was the reason behind implementing the language this way.

My textarea is behaving very strange, when I click inside it .. the cursor appears there when I click, if I click on the middle of the textarea it appears there, and I'd like it to appear on the beginning wherever I click inside, like here on SO when asking question, wherever you click inside textarea it takes your cursor to the topmost left. • C++: incorrect swapping of nodes in linked list

    - by Dragon
    I have 2 simple structures: struct Address { char city[255]; }; typedef Address* AddressPtr; struct Person { char fullName[255]; Address* address; Person* next; }; typedef Person* PersonPtr; The Person structure forms the Linked list where new elements are added to the beginning of the list. What I want to do is to sort them by fullName. At first I tried to swap links, but I lost the beginning of the list and as a result my list was sorted partially. Then I decided to sort list by swapping the values of nodes. But I get strange results. For a list with names: Test3, Test2, Test1, I get Test3, Test3, Test3. Here is my sorting code: void sortByName(PersonPtr& head) { TaskPtr currentNode, nextNode; for(currentNode = head; currentNode->next != NULL; currentNode = currentNode->next) { for(nextNode = currentNode->next; nextNode != NULL; nextNode = nextNode->next) { if(strcmp(currentNode->fullName, nextNode->fullName) > 0) { swapNodes(currentNode, nextNode); } } } } void swapNodes(PersonPtr& node1, PersonPtr& node2) { PersonPtr temp_node = node2; strcpy(node2->fullName, node1->fullName); strcpy(node1->fullName, temp_node->fullName); strcpy(node2->address->city, node1->address->city); strcpy(node1->address->city, temp_node->address->city); } After the sorting completion, nodes values are a little bit strange. UPDATED This is how I swapped links void swapNodes(PersonPtr& node1, PersonPtr& node2) { PersonPtr temp_person; AddressPtr temp_address; temp_person = node2; node2 = node1; node1 = temp_person; temp_address = node2->address; node2->address = node1->address; node1->address = temp_address; }

  • List View Selected Index Changed in a multi-selectable list view

    - by Anton Indrawan
I have a windows form with a listview control. I set the MultiSelect property to true and I added a selected_index changed event. I get the event fired when I click the same index as the current selected index. My expectation is that I will not get the event fired. The strange thing is that the event fired 1 second after I click the index. I appreciate for any reply to explain why this is happening.
