  • How do you get the footer to stay at the bottom of a Web page?

    - by Bill the Lizard
I have a simple 2-column layout with a footer that clears both the right and left div in my markup. My problem is that I can't get the footer to stay at the bottom of the page in all browsers. It works if the content pushes the footer down, but that's not always the case. Update: It's not working properly in Firefox. I'm seeing a strip of background color below the footer when there's not enough content on the page to push the footer all the way down to the bottom of the browser window. Unfortunately, this is the default state of the page.

  • Excel Reader ASP.NET

    - by user304429
I declared a DataGrid in a ASP.NET View and I'd like to generate some C# code to populate said DataGrid with an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx). Here's the code I have: <asp:DataGrid id="DataGrid1" runat="server"/> <script language="C#" runat="server"> protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string connString = @"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=c:\FileName.xlsx;Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0;HDR=YES;"""; // Create the connection object OleDbConnection oledbConn = new OleDbConnection(connString); try { // Open connection oledbConn.Open(); // Create OleDbCommand object and select data from worksheet Sheet1 OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand("SELECT * FROM [sheetname$]", oledbConn); // Create new OleDbDataAdapter OleDbDataAdapter oleda = new OleDbDataAdapter(); oleda.SelectCommand = cmd; // Create a DataSet which will hold the data extracted from the worksheet. DataSet ds = new DataSet(); // Fill the DataSet from the data extracted from the worksheet. oleda.Fill(ds, "Something"); // Bind the data to the GridView DataGrid1.DataSource = ds.Tables[0].DefaultView; DataGrid1.DataBind(); } catch { } finally { // Close connection oledbConn.Close(); } } </script> When I run the website, nothing really happens. What gives?

  • Can we use the task list from "another" web site of same site collection as task list for Sharepoint

    - by Khurram Aziz
Can I specify/use an existing task list from "another" website but from same site collection to be used in my Sequential Sharepoint Workflow? I am using Visual Studio to code the workflow, and it will be deployed in /subsite, the root site already has a task list to which everyone has connected to Outlook etc...Instead of creating a new task list in /subsite and asking concerned to subscribe to this new task list...I want to use the existing one..

  • How to secure licensekey generation

    - by Jakob Gade
Scenario, simplified for brevity: A developer creates an application for a customer. The customer sells this app to end-users. The app requires a license key to run, and this key is generated by the customer for each end-user with a simple tool created by the developer. The license key contains an expiry date for the license and is encrypted so the end-user can’t tamper with it. The problem here is that the developer (or anybody who has a copy of the license key generator) can easily create valid license keys. Should this generator fall into the wrong hands, it could spell disaster for the customers business. Ideally, the customer would have to use a password to create new license keys. And this password would be unknown to the developer, and somehow baked into the decryption algorithm in the application so it will fail if an attempt to use an unauthorized key is made. How would you implement a solution for this problem that is both transparent and secure?

  • vsts load test datasource issues

    - by ashish.s
Hello, I have a simple test using vsts load test that is using datasource. The connection string for the source is as follows <connectionStrings> <add name="MyExcelConn" connectionString="Driver={Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls)};Dsn=Excel Files;dbq=loginusers.xls;defaultdir=.;driverid=790;maxbuffersize=4096;pagetimeout=20;ReadOnly=False" providerName="System.Data.Odbc" /> </connectionStrings> the datasource configuration is as follows and i am getting following error estError TestError 1,000 The unit test adapter failed to connect to the data source or to read the data. For more information on troubleshooting this error, see "Troubleshooting Data-Driven Unit Tests" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=62412) in the MSDN Library. • Measuring code coverage for selenium tests that reside in separate project

    - by ilu
I have two separate java maven projects: one is my web app itself and other one is tellurium+selenium automation tests for my web(I moved these tests to separate projects as their code doesnt really belong to the web app project code and doesnt use java classes of my web app, also I want to reuse some parts of those tests for testing my other web apps). Therefore, project where my tests reside doesnt know anything about my web app, except tellurium/selenium conf files(host name, credentials, browser). So the question: is there any way to measure code coverage of my webb app backend that is invoked by my tellurium/sellenium tests that reside in separate project? Thanks in advance. Any help is highly appreciated.

  • KendoUI Mobile switch and datasource

    - by OnaBai
I'm trying to have a list of items displayed using a listview, something like: <div data-role="view" data-model="my_model"> <ul data-role="listview" data-bind="source: ds" data-template="list-tmpl"></ul> </div> Where I have a view using a model called my_model and a listview where the source is bound to ds. My model is something like: var my_model = kendo.observable({ ds: new kendo.data.DataSource({ transport: { read: readData, update: updateData, create: updateData, remove: updateData }, pageSize: 10, schema: { model: { id: "id", fields: { id: { type: "number" }, name: { type: "string" }, active: { type: "boolean" } } } } }) }); Each item includes an id, a name (that is a string) and a boolean named active. The template used to render each element is: <script id="list-tmpl" type="text/kendo-tmpl"> <span>#= name # : #= active #</span> <input data-role="switch" data-bind="checked: active"/> </script> Where I display the name and (for debugging) the value of active. In addition, I render a switch bound to active. You should see something like: The problems observed are: If you click on a switch you will see that the value of active next to the name changes its value (as expected) but if then, you pick another switch, the value (neither next to name nor in the DataSource) is not updated (despite the value of the switch is correctly updated). The update handler in the DataSource is never invoked (not even for the first chosen switch and despite the DataSource for that first toggled switch is updated). You can check it in JSFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/OnaBai/K7wEC/ How do I make that the DataSource gets updated and update handler invoked?

  • How to build an offline web app using Flask?

    - by Rafael Alencar
I'm prototyping an idea for a website that will use the HTML5 offline application cache for certain purposes. The website will be built with Python and Flask and that's where my main problem comes from: I'm working with those two for the first time, so I'm having a hard time getting the manifest file to work as expected. The issue is that I'm getting 404's from the static files included in the manifest file. The manifest itself seems to be downloaded correctly, but the files that it points to are not. This is what is spit out in the console when loading the page: Creating Application Cache with manifest http://127.0.0.1:5000/static/manifest.appcache offline-app:1 Application Cache Checking event offline-app:1 Application Cache Downloading event offline-app:1 Application Cache Progress event (0 of 2) http://127.0.0.1:5000/style.css offline-app:1 Application Cache Error event: Resource fetch failed (404) http://127.0.0.1:5000/style.css The error is in the last line. When the appcache fails even once, it stops the process completely and the offline cache doesn't work. This is how my files are structured: sandbox offline-app offline-app.py static manifest.appcache script.js style.css templates offline-app.html This is the content of offline-app.py: from flask import Flask, render_template app = Flask(__name__) @app.route('/offline-app') def offline_app(): return render_template('offline-app.html') if __name__ == '__main__': app.run(host='0.0.0.0', debug=True) This is what I have in offline-app.html: <!DOCTYPE html> <html manifest="{{ url_for('static', filename='manifest.appcache') }}"> <head> <title>Offline App Sandbox - main page</title> </head> <body> <h1>Welcome to the main page for the Offline App Sandbox!</h1> <p>Some placeholder text</p> </body> </html> This is my manifest.appcache file: CACHE MANIFEST /style.css /script.js I've tried having the manifest file in all different ways I could think of: CACHE MANIFEST /static/style.css /static/script.js or CACHE MANIFEST /offline-app/static/style.css /offline-app/static/script.js None of these worked. The same error was returned every time. I'm certain the issue here is how the server is serving up the files listed in the manifest. Those files are probably being looked up in the wrong place, I guess. I either should place them somewhere else or I need something different in the cache manifest, but I have no idea what. I couldn't find anything online about having HTML5 offline applications with Flask. Is anyone able to help me out?

  • How do I stream videos from web server in ExpressionMediaPlayer control?

    - by Nick
Hello. I would like to stream videos that reside at the webserver from within a ExpressionMediaPlayer control. The following results in a network error. I believe that the problem is with my Uri. I have the videos inside the 'ClentBin' folder. Can anyone tell me how this is done? private void videoList_SelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) { var selectedVideo = (Video)videoList.SelectedItem; PlaylistItem item = new PlaylistItem(); item.MediaSource = new Uri(@"/ClientBin/" + selectedVideo.FilePath, UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute); item.IsAdaptiveStreaming = false; ep.Playlist.Items.Add(item); } Thanks!

  • can some hacker steal the cookie from a user and login with that name on the web site ?

    - by Aristos
Reading this question different users get the same cookie value in aspxanonymous and search for a solution, I start thinking, if it is possible for some one to really steal the cookie with some way, and then place it on his browser and login lets say as administrator. Do you know how form authentication can ensure that even if the cookie is stoled, the hacker not actual login using it ? Or do you know any other automatic defense mechanism ? Thank you in advanced.

  • MS Dynamics CRM trapping .NET error before I can handle it

    - by clifgriffin
This is a fun one. I have written a custom search page that provides faster, more user friendly searches than the default Contacts view and also allows searching of Leads and Contacts simultaneously. It uses GridViews bound to SqlDataSources that query filtered views. I'm sure someone will complain that I'm not using the web services for this, but this is just the design decision we made. These GridViews live in UpdatePanels to enable very slick AJAX updates upon search. It's all working great. Nearly ready to be deployed, except for one thing: Some long running searches are triggering an uncatchable SQL timeout exception. [SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.] at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.ConsumeMetaData() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.get_MetaData() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.FinishExecuteReader(SqlDataReader ds, RunBehavior runBehavior, String resetOptionsString) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReaderTds(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method, DbAsyncResult result) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteDbDataReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbCommand.System.Data.IDbCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.FillInternal(DataSet dataset, DataTable[] datatables, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, String srcTable) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSourceView.ExecuteSelect(DataSourceSelectArguments arguments) at System.Web.UI.DataSourceView.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments arguments, DataSourceViewSelectCallback callback) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataBoundControl.PerformSelect() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataBoundControl.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridView.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataBoundControl.EnsureDataBound() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.CompositeDataBoundControl.CreateChildControls() at System.Web.UI.Control.EnsureChildControls() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) I found that CRM is doing a server.transfer to capture this error because my UpdatePanels started throwing JavaSript errors when this error would occur. I was only able to get the full error message by using the JavaScript debugger in IE. Having found this error, I thought the solution would be simple. I just needed to wrap my databind calls in try/catch blocks to capture any errors. Unfortunately it seems CRM's IIS configuration has the magic ability to capture this error before it ever gets back to my code. Using the debugger I never see it. It never gets to my catch blocks, but it's clearly happening in the SQL Data Source which is clearly (by the stack trace) being triggered by my GridView bind. Any ideas on this? It's driving me crazy. • How to get mp3 files to play in iPhone Safari web browser?

    - by grrussel
How can I get an MP3 audio file to play in iPhone Safari (OS 3.1)? Currently, I am generating HTML e.g. <a href="file.mp3"><img src="sound.png" alt="Play audio"/></a> to play the file on clicking on the nested image. This works on Safari on OSX, but not on the iPhone. There, the content of the file is shown as text, but it does not appear to be a mime-type problem when checked with Live HTTP Headers from Firefox. I have found approaches referenced here. These require the Safari Plugins setting to be on in the preferences, which is why it did not previously work for me.

How can I add an Developer to a Project through the nested_attributes method? The following does not work: @p.people_attributes = [{:name => "Epic Beard Man", :type => "Developer"}] @p.people => [#<Person id: nil, name: "Epic Beard Man", type: nil>] As you can see the type attributes is set to nil instead of Developer.

  • Good places to share and showcase software on the web?

    - by jay
Quite simply: is there a place such as DeviantArt, but purely for the purpose of sharing software (and source if preferred)? I'm aware that DA has plenty of software, but only related to customisations and UI hacks. I recently came across some really useful apps I had made from way back and besides posting it on an online code hosting site or a personal portfolio that no one will ever find, is there some more community-ish places on the internet I've missed out on where coding mercenaries share and show off?

  • ASP.NET OleDbConnection Problem

    - by Matt
    I'm working on an ASP.NET website where I am using an asp:repeater with paging done through a VB.NET code-behind file. I'm having trouble with the database connection though. As far as I can tell, the paging is working, but I can't get the data to be certain. The database is a Microsoft Access database. The function that should be accessing the database is: Dim pagedData As New PagedDataSource Sub Page_Load(ByVal obj As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) doPaging() End Sub Function getTheData() As DataTable Dim DS As New DataSet() Dim strConnect As New OleDbConnection("Provider = Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=App_Data/ArtDatabase.mdb") Dim objOleDBAdapter As New OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT ArtID, FileLocation, Title, UserName, ArtDate FROM Art ORDER BY Art.ArtDate DESC", strConnect) objOleDBAdapter.Fill(DS, "Art") Return DS.Tables("Art").Copy End Function Sub doPaging() pagedData.DataSource = getTheData().DefaultView pagedData.AllowPaging = True pagedData.PageSize = 2 Try pagedData.CurrentPageIndex = Int32.Parse(Request.QueryString("Page")).ToString() Catch ex As Exception pagedData.CurrentPageIndex = 0 End Try btnPrev.Visible = (Not pagedData.IsFirstPage) btnNext.Visible = (Not pagedData.IsLastPage) pageNumber.Text = (pagedData.CurrentPageIndex + 1) & " of " & pagedData.PageCount ArtRepeater.DataSource = pagedData ArtRepeater.DataBind() End Sub The ASP.NET is: <asp:Repeater ID="ArtRepeater" runat="server"> <HeaderTemplate> <h2>Items in Selected Category:</h2> </HeaderTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <li> <asp:HyperLink runat="server" ID="HyperLink" NavigateUrl='<%# Eval("ArtID", "ArtPiece.aspx?ArtID={0}") %>'> <img src="<%# Eval("FileLocation") %>" alt="<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Title") %>t"/> <br /> <%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Title") %> </asp:HyperLink> </li> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater>
