  • Publishing WCF .NET 3.5 to IIS 6 (Windows Server 2003)

    - by Adam
I've been developing a WCF web service using .NET 3.5 with IIS7 and it works perfectly on my local computer. I tried publishing it to a server running IIS 6 and even though I can view the WSDL in my browser, the client application doesn't seem to be connecting to it correctly. I launched a packet sniffing app (Charles Proxy) and the response for the first message comes back to the client empty (0 bytes). Every message after the first one times out. The WCF service is part of a larger application that uses ASP .NET 3.5. That application has been working fine on IIS 6 for awhile now so I think it's something specific to WCF. I also tried throwing an exception in the SVC file to see if it made it that far and the exception never got thrown so I have a feeling it's something more low level that's not working. Any thoughts? Is there anything I need to install on the IIS5 server? If so how am I still able to view the WSDL in my browser? The service is being consumed via an SVC file using basicHttpBinding Here's the meat of the Web.Config (let me know if you need any other part of it): <system.net> <defaultProxy> <proxy usesystemdefault="False" proxyaddress="http://127.0.0.1:80" bypassonlocal="True"/> </defaultProxy> </system.net> ... <system.serviceModel> <services> <service name="Nexternal.Service.XMLTools.VNService" behaviorConfiguration="VNServiceBehavior"> <!--The first endpoint would be picked up from the confirg this shows how the config can be overriden with the service host--> <endpoint address="" binding="basicHttpBinding" contract="Nexternal.Service.XMLTools.IVNService" /> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexHttpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" name="mexHttpBinding" /> </service> </services> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="VNServiceBehavior"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true" /> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="true" /> </system.serviceModel>

  • wpf: usercontrol vs. customcontrol performance issue

    - by viky
Which one is better from performance view user control or custom control? Right now I am using user control and In a specific scenario, I am creating around 200(approx.) different instances of this control but it is bit slow while loading and I need to wait atlest 20-30 second to complete the operation. What should I do to increase the performance?

  • How to connect to bluetoothbee device using j2me?

    - by user1500412
I developed a simple bluetooth connection application in j2me. I try it on emulator, both server and client can found each other, but when I deploy the application to blackberry mobile phone and connect to a bluetoothbee device it says service search no records. What could it be possibly wrong? is it j2me can not find a service in bluetoothbee? The j2me itself succeed to found the bluetoothbee device, but why it can not find the service? My code is below. What I don't understand is the UUID? how to set UUID for unknown source? since I didn't know the UUID for the bluetoothbee device. class SearchingDevice extends Canvas implements Runnable,CommandListener,DiscoveryListener{ //...... public SearchingDevice(MenuUtama midlet, Display display){ this.display = display; • Asp.NET custom templated datalist throws argument out of range (index) on button press

    - by MrTortoise
I have a class BaseTemplate public abstract class BaseTemplate : ITemplate This adds the controls, and provides abstract methods to implement in the inheriting class. The inheriting class then adds its html according to its data source and manages the data binding. This all works fine - I get the control appearing with properly parsed html. The problem is that the base class adds controls into the template that have their own CommandName arguments; the idea is that the class that implements the custom templated dataList will provide the logic of setting the Selected and Edit Indexes. This class also manages the data binding, etc. It sets all of the templates on the datalist in the Init method (which was another cause of this exception). The exception gets thrown when I hit one of these buttons - I have tried hooking up both their click and command events everywhere in case this was the problem. I have also ensured that their command names do not match any of the system ones. The stack trace does not include any references to my methods or objects which is why I am so stuck. It is the most unhelpful message I can imagine. The really frustrating thing is that I cannot get a breakpoint to fire - i.e. the problem is happening after I click the button, but before and of my code can execute. The last time this exception happened was when I had this code in a user control and was assigning the templates to the datalist in the PageLoad. I moved these into init to fix that problem; however, this is a problem that was there then and I have no idea what is causing it let alone how to solve it (and index out of range doesn't really help without knowing what index.) • Why can't I get my Azure, WCF, REST, SSL project working? What am I doing wrong?

    - by Mark E
    I'm trying to get SSL, WCF and REST under Azure, but the page won't even load. Here are the steps I followed: 1) I mapped the www.mydomain.com CNAME to my azuresite.cloudapp.net 2) I procured an SSL certificate for www.mydomain.com and properly installed it at my azuresite.cloudapp.net hosted service project 3) I deployed my WCF REST service to Azure and started it. Below is my web.config configuration. The http (non-https) binding version worked correctly. My service URL, http: //www.mydomain .com/service.svc/sessions worked just fine. When I deployed the project with the web.config below, enabling SSL, https: //www.mydomain .com/service.svc/sessions does not even pull up at all. What am I doing wrong? <system.serviceModel> <services> <service name="Service"> <!-- non-https worked just fine --> <!-- <endpoint address="" binding="webHttpBinding" contract="IService" behaviorConfiguration="RestFriendly"> </endpoint> --> <!-- This does not work, what am I doing wrong? --> <endpoint address="" binding="webHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="TransportSecurity" contract="IService" behaviorConfiguration="RestFriendly"> </endpoint> </service> </services> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="RestFriendly"> <webHttp></webHttp> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> <bindings> <webHttpBinding> <binding name="TransportSecurity"> <security mode="Transport"> <transport clientCredentialType="None"/> </security> </binding> </webHttpBinding> </bindings> </system.serviceModel>

  • WinForms binding

    - by Anthony
I have some controls bound to a BindingSource control. I want to do a calculation when the value changes in one control and set the result on another control. Do i update the textbox the property is bound to or do i update the underlying entity which would update the control anyway(i hope)? When i change textbox A...textbox B is updated with the new calculated result..this works fine...but i have noticed that when i Leave textbox A..textbox B reverts back to its original value...what is going on here!

  • User controls & Composite web server controls

    - by Shekhar_Pro
Well Its both a poll and a question. Which approach should i prefer when it comes to writing a custom control in ASP.Net. Should i create a custom User control or should I create a Composite Web Server control. And how about adding a Designer support to the composite control. How are they different from each other and their Pros and Cons. Differentiating with an example of each will be preferable.

  • Android - read and delete new SMS of a specific sender only

    - by John
I'm trying to write the next function: 1) Send SMS to a service number 2) Read the response SMS content (the service's auto sent-back message that tells me if I succeed/failed to turn on the service) 3) Delete the service's auto-sent SMS I know how to do the first step, and I should be able to do the second with both: getMessageBody () getOriginatingAddress () but: 1) how can I refer the last incoming message to use the above functions? 2) how can I delete that specific message? Thanks, John

  • regex to break a string into "key" / "value" pairs when # of pairs is variable?

    - by user141146
Hi, I'm using Ruby 1.9 and I'm wondering if there's a simple regex way to do this. I have many strings that look like some variation of this: str = "Allocation: Random, Control: Active Control, Endpoint Classification: Safety Study, Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment, Masking: Double Blind (Subject, Caregiver, Investigator, Outcomes Assessor), Primary Purpose: Treatment" The idea is that I'd like to break this string into its functional components Allocation: Random Control: Active Control Endpoint Classification: Safety Study Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment Masking: Double Blind (Subject, Caregiver, Investigator, Outcomes, Assessor) Primary Purpose: Treatment The "syntax" of the string is that there is a "key" which consists of one or more "words or other characters" (e.g. Intervention Model) followed by a colon (:). Each key has a corresponding "value" (e.g., Parallel Assignment) that immediately follows the colon (:)…The "value" consists of words, commas (whatever), but the end of the "value" is signaled by a comma. The # of key/value pairs is variable. I'm also assuming that colons (:) aren't allowed to be part of the "value" and that commas (,) aren't allowed to be part of the "key". One would think that there is a "regexy" way to break this into its component pieces, but my attempt at making an appropriate matching regex only picks up the first key/value pair and I'm not sure how to capture the others. Any thoughts on how to capture the other matches? regex = /(([^,]+?): ([^:]+?,))+?/ => /(([^,]+?): ([^:]+?,))+?/ irb(main):139:0> str = "Allocation: Random, Control: Active Control, Endpoint Classification: Safety Study, Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment, Masking: Double Blind (Subject, Caregiver, Investigator, Outcomes Assessor), Primary Purpose: Treatment" => "Allocation: Random, Control: Active Control, Endpoint Classification: Safety Study, Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment, Masking: Double Blind (Subject, Caregiver, Investigator, Outcomes Assessor), Primary Purpose: Treatment" irb(main):140:0> str.match regex => #<MatchData "Allocation: Random," 1:"Allocation: Random," 2:"Allocation" 3:" Random,"> irb(main):141:0> $1 => "Allocation: Random," irb(main):142:0> $2 => "Allocation" irb(main):143:0> $3 => " Random," irb(main):144:0> $4 => nil

I am using the EnableCdn=true in my ScriptManager so that WebResource.axd and ScriptResource.axd are overridden with static links to JS libraries at the MS CDN service as follows: <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" EnableCdn="true" /> How do I override the CDN URLs or service so that I can retrieve the scripts over HTTPS from the MS CDN service rather than HTTP to avoid the browser mixed mode message? or for that matter a different or my own CDN service entirely.

  • Firing MouseLeftButtonDown event programmatically

    - by RajenK
Hi, I'm trying to manually fire a MouseLeftButtonDown event on a WPF control programmatically, as I am using the Microsoft Surface SDK, which does not fire MouseLeftButtonDown events, but ContactDown events. Basically I'm trying to push the MouseLeftButtonDown event down to the control, to fire off the correct behavior on the control, while handling a ContactDown event. I'm guessing I have to somehow use the RaiseEvent method on the control to do this with MouseButtonEventArgs, but I'm having some trouble figuring out the parameters. Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Rails 3 Abstract Class vs Inherited Class

    - by R. Yanchuleff
In my rails 3 model, I have two classes: Product, Service. I want both to be of type InventoryItem because I have another model called Store and Store has_many :InventoryItems This is what I'm trying to get to, but I'm not sure how to model this in my InventoryItem model and my Product and Service models. Should InventoryItem just be a parent class that Product and Service inherit from, or should InventoryItem be modeled as a class abstract of which Product and Service extend from. Thanks in advance for the advice!
