  • ghc can't find my cabal installed packages

    - by nont
    I've installed ghc 6.12.3, and then the Haskell Platform. I'm trying to compile a test program: $ ghc test.hs test.hs:3:0: Failed to load interface for `Bindings': Use -v to see a list of the files searched for. so, naturally, I do cabal install Bindings Which works fine, and places the package in ~/.cabal/lib/bindings-0.1.2 The problem is, that when I go to compile again with ghc, it still doesn't find the package I've installed with cabal. compiling in verbose mode gives: ghc -v test.hs Using binary package database: /home/ludflu/ghc/lib/ghc-6.12.3/package.conf.d/package.cache Using binary package database: /home/ludflu/.ghc/x86_64-linux 6.12.3/package.conf.d/package.cache As suggested by another stackoverflow user, I tried: ghc-pkg describe rts > rts.pkg vi rts.pkg # add the /home/ludflu/.cabal/lib to `library-dirs` field ghc-pkg update rts.pkg But to no avail. How to I add the .cabal to the list of package directories to search? Thank you!

  • What are nested/unnested packages in Scala 2.8?

    - by retronym
    In Scala 2.7, I could write: package com.acme.bar class Bar . package com.acme.foo class Foo { new bar.Bar } This doesn't compile in Scala 2.8 -- however this does: package com.acme package bar class Bar . package com.acme package foo class Foo { new bar.Bar } What was the motivation for this? What is the precise meaning, with regards to scope and visibility? When should I use one form over the other?

  • erlide, which eclipse/which packages?

    - by KevinDTimm
    I have downloaded eclipse 3.4 (java version) for MacOSX (carbon). I have tried to 'update' to the erlide, but see many (duplicated) options (many erlide, options that say 'only for erl SDK updates', etc.) Sometimes I get 403 errors when attempting to access http://erlide.org/update and http://erlide.sourceforge.net/update. Finally, when I get some set of options installed, I either get errors like : Loading of /Users/kevindtimm/Documents/eclipse-java-ganymede-SR2-macosx-carbon/eclipse/plugins/org.erlide.kernel.common_0.8.1.201005250801/ebin/erlide_kernel_common.beam failed: badfile (hello_world@ktmac)1> =ERROR REPORT==== 24-Nov-2010::19:17:32 === beam/beam_load.c(1768): Error loading function erlide_kernel_common:monitor/0: op put_string u u x: please re-compile this module with an R14B compiler or, when I've done different installations of erlide, I get no response in the console to : hello:hello(). Does anybody have a good reference for how to load this plug-in and which items I should install? -module(hello). -export([hello/0]). hello() -> io:write("Hello World\n"). [edit] I have installed eclipse 3.6 (c++) as requested below, and the following code still can't find hello:hello(). %%file_comment -module(hello). %% %% Include files %% %% %% Exported Functions %% -export([hello/0]). %% %% API Functions %% %% %% Local Functions %% hello() -> io:write("Hello World\n"). • Where are SSIS Packages Saved?

    - by Chris
    I right clicked on a Database in the object explorer of SQL Server 2008 Management Studio. I went to Tasks Import Data, and imported some data from a flat text file, opting to save the package on the server. Now how the heck do I get to the package to edit or run it again? Where in SQL Server Management Studio do I go? I've expanded everything and I can't find it. It's driving me nuts.

  • Source control system for single developer

    - by kaiz.net
    What's the recommended source control system for a very small team (one developer)? Price does not matter. Customer would pay :-) I'm working on Vista32 with VS 2008 in C++ and later in C# and with WPF. Setting up an extra (physical) server for this seems overkill to me. Any opinions?

  • TFS Automated Builds to Code Packages

    - by Adam Jenkin
    I would like to hear the best practices or know how people perform the following task in TFS 2008. I am intending on using TFS for building and storing web applications projects. Sometimes these projects can contain 100's of files (*.cs, *.acsx etc) During the lifetime of the website, a small bug will get raised resulting in say a stylesheet change, and a change to default.aspx.cs for example. On checking in these changes to TFS, and automated build would be triggered (great!), however for deploying the changes to the target production machine, I only need to deploy for example: style.css default.asx MyWebApplications.dll So my question is, can MSBuild be customized to generate a "code pack" of only the files which require deploying to the production server based on the changeset which cause the re-build?

  • learning django for experienced asp.net developer

    - by the berserker
    I am quite aware of the MVC Concept, though I have never developed anything bigger in ASP.NET MVC, but I have been developing ASP.NET pages for years now. So is there any good tutorial or even better: a book that is suitable for ASP.NET developer and does comparisons? Especially I am looking for info on django reusability/how to deal with components etc.

  • Leading a Developer Meeting?

    - by hypoxide
    I've recently inherited responsibility for organizing and running the hour long monthly developer meetings at my office. I've only been out of college for 2 years so I'm kind of intimidated by holding the reins for this type of thing. The group is composed of about 20 developers, more than half of which are significantly more senior than I am. I need some tips on how to make this meeting valuable for everybody, as well as any possible advice/consolation/condolences you can give me.

  • Reading another packages symbol table in Perl

    - by justintime
    I am trying to read a global symbol from another package. I have the package name as a string. I am using qualify_to_ref from Symbol module my $ref = qualify_to_ref ( 'myarray', 'Mypackage' ) ; my @array = @$ref ; gives me Not an ARRAY reference at ...... I presume I am getting the format of the dereference wrong. Here is a complete example program. use strict; use Symbol ; package Mypackage ; our @myarray = qw/a b/ ; package main ; my $ref = qualify_to_ref ( 'myarray', 'Mypackage' ) ; my @array = @$ref ;

  • C++ book for a c# developer

    - by Eldila
    I am a c# developer which finds himself having to relearn c++. The last time I programmed in c++ was in school and am looking for good books as a refresher. I want something that assumes previous programming exposure and gets straight to the point. Is there a book similar to K&R for c++? I know the language is bloated so a book that covers a subset of c++ would be ideal.

  • auto-import of packages across project in eclipse

    - by Reddy
    I have used file search functionality in eclipse to replace a specific occurrence of text with a replace text which contains a java method name in all files across the workspace. But now in all those files I have to add the import statement (for the method name to resolve). Is there an automatic way of doing this instead of manually searching and importing the package myself in all files?

  • Should we encourage coding styles in favor of developer's autonomy, or discourage it in favor of consistency?

    - by Saeed Neamati
    A developer writes if/else blocks with one-line code statements like: if (condition) // Do this one-line code else // Do this one-line code Another uses curly braces for all of them: if (condition) { // Do this one-line code } else { // Do this one-line code } A developer first instantiates an object, then uses it: HelperClass helper = new HelperClass(); helper.DoSomething(); Another developer instantiates and uses the object in one line: new HelperClass().DoSomething(); A developer is more easy with arrays, and for loops: string[] ordinals = new string[] {'First', 'Second', 'Third'}; for (i = 0; i < ordinals.Length; i++) { // Do something } Another writes: List<string> ordinals = new List<string>() {'First', 'Second', 'Third'}; foreach (string ordinal in ordinals) { // Do something } I'm sure that you know what I'm talking about. I call it coding style (cause I don't know what it's called). But whatever we call it, is it good or bad? Does encouraging it have an effect of higher productivity of developers? Should we ask developers to try to write code the way we tell them, so to make the whole system become style-consistent?

  • Migration for creating and deleting model in South

    - by Almad
    I've created a model and created initial migration for it: db.create_table('tvguide_tvguide', ( ('id', models.AutoField(primary_key=True)), ('date', models.DateField(_('Date'), auto_now=True, db_index=True)), )) db.send_create_signal('tvguide', ['TVGuide']) models = { 'tvguide.tvguide': { 'channels': ('models.ManyToManyField', ["orm['tvguide.Channel']"], {'through': "'ChannelInTVGuide'"}), 'date': ('models.DateField', ["_('Date')"], {'auto_now': 'True', 'db_index': 'True'}), 'id': ('models.AutoField', [], {'primary_key': 'True'}) } } complete_apps = ['tvguide'] Now, I'd like to drop it: db.drop_table('tvguide_tvguide') However, I have also deleted corresponding model. South (at least 0.6.2) is however trying to access it: (venv)[almad@eva-03 project]$ ./manage.py migrate tvguide Running migrations for tvguide: - Migrating forwards to 0002_removemodels. > tvguide: 0001_initial Traceback (most recent call last): File "./manage.py", line 27, in <module> execute_from_command_line() File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/__init__.py", line 353, in execute_from_command_line utility.execute() File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/__init__.py", line 303, in execute self.fetch_command(subcommand).run_from_argv(self.argv) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/base.py", line 195, in run_from_argv self.execute(*args, **options.__dict__) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/base.py", line 222, in execute output = self.handle(*args, **options) File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/management/commands/migrate.py", line 91, in handle skip = skip, File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/migration.py", line 581, in migrate_app result = run_forwards(mapp, [mname], fake=fake, db_dry_run=db_dry_run, verbosity=verbosity) File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/migration.py", line 388, in run_forwards verbosity = verbosity, File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/migration.py", line 287, in run_migrations orm = klass.orm File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/orm.py", line 62, in __get__ self.orm = FakeORM(*self._args) File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/orm.py", line 45, in FakeORM _orm_cache[args] = _FakeORM(*args) File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/orm.py", line 106, in __init__ self.models[name] = self.make_model(app_name, model_name, data) File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/orm.py", line 307, in make_model tuple(map(ask_for_it_by_name, bases)), File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/utils.py", line 23, in ask_for_it_by_name ask_for_it_by_name.cache[name] = _ask_for_it_by_name(name) File "/home/almad/projects/mypage-all/lib/python2.6/site-packages/south/utils.py", line 17, in _ask_for_it_by_name return getattr(module, bits[-1]) AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'TVGuide' Is there a way around?
