  • Phpmyadmin mysql foreign key help

    - by Alan
    Hey guys i'm using phpmyadmin (php & mysql) and i'm having alot of trouble linking the tables using foreign keys. I'm getting negative values for the field countyId (which is the foriegn key). However it is linking to my other table fine and it's cascading fine. So when I go to add data there will be a drop box for the CountyId and the vlaues will look something like this, " -1 1- " Here is my alter statement, ALTER TABLE Baronies ADD FOREIGN KEY (CountyId) REFERENCES Counties (CountyId) ON DELETE CASCADE

  • How much memory does a hashtable use?

    - by Michael
    Would a hashtable/hashmap use a lot of memory if it only consists of object references and int's? As for a school project we had to map a database to objects (that's what being done by orm/hibernate nowadays) but eager to find a good way not to store id's in objects in order to save them again we thought of putting all objects we created in a hashmap/hashtable, so we could easily retrieve it's ID. My question is if it would cost me performance using this, in my opinion more elegant way to solve this problem.

  • How to see list of html-tidy errors in VIM for Windows?

    - by stumbling
    I am using Vim 7.2 on WinXP. I've tired to run tidy like this: :compiler tidy :make :copen When I do :copen it shows me no errors to jump to. I've seen references that shellpipe might need to be set a specific way, but that refers to an earlier version of VIM. How should I be using HTML-tidy with VIM, and do I need to mess with shellpipe to get it to work with WinXP?

  • mysql error dont understand what it is saying

    Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (`mydb`.`job_listing_has_employer_details`, CONSTRAINT `job_listing_has_employer_details_ibfk_2` FOREIGN KEY (`employer_details_id`) REFERENCES `employer_details` (`id`)) INSERT INTO `job_listing_has_employer_details` (`job_listing_id`, `employer_details_id`) VALUES (6, '5') What does this mean? The two ID's I am inserting into the table exsist.

  • What good programming practices will change with C++0x?

    - by Jon
    For example, "Don't return objects by value if they are expensive to copy" (RVO can't always be used). This advice might change because of rvalue references. The same might be said about storing collections of pointers to objects, because copying them by value into the collection was too expensive; this reason might no longer be valid. Or the use of enums might be discouraged in favour of "enum class". What other practices or tips will change?

  • Why can't I SELECT a parent field that doesn't have a child?

    - by myaccount
    (rest_branches) is the table of restaurants. (phone_numbers) is another table which contains the restaurants phone_numbers, and it has a field called (branch_id) which references the restaurant id. When I try: SELECT * FROM rest_branches NATURAL JOIN phone_numbers I only get the restaurants which have a phone_number. What should I do to get all restaurants even if they don't have a phone number?

  • Function to convert a z-score into a percentage

    - by Daniel
    Google doesn't want to help! I'm able to calculate z-scores, and we are trying to produce a function that given a z-score gives us a percent of the population in a normal distribution that would be under that z-score. All I can find are references to z-score to percentage tables. Any pointers?

  • What do you consider a good API Documentation?

    - by Daniel
    I have always liked the documentation on Java APIs, generally speaking, but I know some people consider them lacking. So I'm wondering, what do you consider a good example of API documentation? Please, include a link or an actual example in any answer. I want to have references that I (and others, of course) can use to improve our own documents.

  • Why cant i use the field user in SQL Server 8?

    - by acidzombie24
    Maybe not literally but the query below gets an error near user. If i change it to userZ it works. WHY can i not use that name? Is there a way to specific its a field instead of a keyword? (or whatever it is) create table Post2 ( id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY NOT NULL, title nvarchar(max) NOT NULL, body nvarchar(max) NOT NULL, user integer REFERENCES Post1(id));

  • Looking for a full list of jQuery event types.

    - by serg555
    Where I can find a complete list of all jQuery supported events (like click, mouseup etc) with some explanations when they are triggered? I am looking for those that can be binded: $('#foo').bind('click', handler); For example I just found out by accident that there is paste event but I can't find any references to it anywhere in their docs. What else is there?

  • DateTime.Now within a statement

    - by jarrett
    In the below thisIsAlwaysTrue should always be true. DateTime d = DateTime.Now; bool thisIsAlwaysTrue = d == d; But does DateTime.Now work in such a way that isThisAlwaysTrue is guaranteed to be true? Or can the clock change between references to the Now property? bool isThisAlwaysTrue = DateTime.Now == DateTime.Now;

  • referencing desired objects in namespaced functions

    - by RyOnLife
    I'm having trouble referencing the desired object when I've namespaced functions. No problems here: obj.test = function() { // this == obj } But I'm getting tripped up when I namespace: obj.namespace.test = function() { // this == namespace } In the latter example, I know this references namespace, but I want to reference obj. How can I do it?

  • MySQL: NOW() giving me zeros

    - by Tunji Gbadamosi
    I have a table which I want to record the timestamp of every order at every insertion time. However, I'm getting zero values for the timestamps. Here's my schema: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS orders( order_no VARCHAR(16) NOT NULL, volunteer_id VARCHAR(16) NOT NULL, date TIMESTAMP DEFAULT NOW(), PRIMARY KEY (order_no), FOREIGN KEY (volunteer_id) REFERENCES volunteer(id) ON UPDATE CASCADE ON DELETE CASCADE)
