  • Multithreaded Applications

    - by j-t-s
Hi All I have been reading the articles on MSDN, but my mind is dead (this usually happens when I read MSDN (No offense MSDN, but your articles confuse me at times.)), and I'm trying to do some "background work" in may app, but not sure how. It's just a single method. But the application hangs, and I have to wait up to 1 - 3 minutes for it to become ...unhanged? Are there any simple examples that are laying 'roun online somewhere that I can have a look at/play around with? Thank you all

  • .split("1px") into ["1px",1,"px"] in Javascript

    - by Jay
I'm rubbish at Regular Expressions, really! What I'd like is to split a string containing a CCS property value into an array of [string, value, unit]. For example: if I supplied the .split() method with 1px it'd return ["1px",1,"px"]. If I were to supply, similarly, 10% it'd return ["10%",10,"%"]. Can this be done? I appreciate all your help!

  • Script to parse emails for attachments

    - by Swanny
I am looking for a way to monitor a Linux mbox email account, when an email arrives I would like to download an attachment from the email and save the attachment (CSV file) so that it may be used by a PHP script. What would be the best way of going about this? I have looked at PHP's IMAP functions but this does not appear to be the most appropriate method when a simple bash script may be all that is required?

  • How to access a (shadowed) global function in ruby.

    - by yngvedh
Hi, I was wondering how to access a global function fn in ruby from a class which also defined a method fn. I have made a workaround by aliasing the function like so: def fn end class Bar alias global_fn fn def fn # how to access the global fn here without the alias global_fn end end I'm looking for something along the lines of c++'s :: to access global scope but I can't seem to locate any information about it. I guess I don't know specifically what I'm looking for.

  • Get coordinates of beads covering the surface of a protein

    - by Hefeweizen
Given a protein structure from the PDB, I would like to generate NS spheres of radius Rs which cover totally the protein surface. Given RS there, NS is the maximum number of spheres so they do not overlap. I would need the coordinates of the center of each sphere. Does anybody know if this has been implemented in some method / program? Or how to do it with scripting. Thanks

  • C# (non-abstract) class to represent paths

    - by user289770
I'm looking for a C# class that represents a file system path. I would like to use it (instead of strings) as the data type of variables and method arguments (top reasons: type safety, concat-proof, logical comparisons). System.IO.Path provides most of the functionality I want, but it is abstract. System.IO.FileInfo, as I understand, performs IO operations to do its job. I only want a wrapper for the path string. Thanks!

  • Convert list of dicts to string

    - by John
I'm very new to Python, so forgive me if this is easier than it seems to me. I'm being presented with a list of dicts as follows: [{'directMember': 'true', 'memberType': 'User', 'memberId': '[email protected]'}, {'directMember': 'true', 'memberType': 'User', 'memberId': '[email protected]'}, {'directMember': 'true', 'memberType': 'User', 'memberId': '[email protected]'}] I would like to generate a simple string of memberIds, such as [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] but every method of converting a list to a string that I have tried fails because dicts are involved. Any advice?

  • [Zend_Framework] Group by date with Zend_Db

    - by rasouza
I have several entries in a table with name and date. I'd like to fetchAll with Zend_Db then get a grouped-by-date array. It happens that if I use group(), Zend_Db_Select method, it excludes some entries and I need them all. Actually, what I'm trying to do is to render several tables, one for each different date, with data inside. I have no ideia. How do I do that? Thx in advance

  • Need help with map (c++, STL)

    - by Mike Dooley
Hi folks! Actually I'm new to C++. I tried something out (actually the map container) but it doesn't work the way I assumed it will... Before posting my code, I will explain it shortly. I created 3 classes: ClassA ClassDerivedA ClassAnotherDerivedA The two last ones are derived from "ClassA". Further I created a map: map<string,ClassA> test_map; I put some objects (from Type ClassDerivedA and ClassAnotherDerivedA) into the map. Keep in mind: the mapped value is from type "ClassA". This will only work because of Polymorphism. Finally I created an iterator which runs over my map and compares the user input with my keys in the map. If they match, it will call a specific method called "printOutput". And there is the Problem: Although i declared "printOutput" as "virtual" the only method called is the one from my base class, but why? and here is the code: #include <iostream> #include <map> using namespace std; class ClassA { public: virtual void printOutput() { cout << "ClassA" << endl; } }; class ClassDerivedA : public ClassA { public: void printOutput() { cout << "ClassDerivedA" << endl; } }; class ClassAnotherDerivedA: public ClassA { public: void printOutput() { cout << "ClassAnotherDerivedA" << endl; } }; int main() { ClassDerivedA class_derived_a; ClassAnotherDerivedA class_another_a; map<string,ClassA> test_map; test_map.insert(pair<string,ClassA>("deriveda", class_derived_a)); test_map.insert(pair<string,ClassA>("anothera", class_another_a)); string s; while( cin >> s ) { if( s != "quit" ) { map<string,ClassA>::iterator it = test_map.find(s); if(it != test_map.end()) it->second.printOutput(); } else break; } } Blockquote
