  • Is it possible to have a Ocaml function that accepts only integer lists?

    - by Sam
I'm writing a recursive function in Ocaml that's supposed to count the number of items in an integer list (Yes I know there's a List.length function but I'm trying to do it myself). However the Ocaml compiler/interpreter forces me to use alpha list all the time. So is it wrong to say that, when a function accepts a list as a parameter, the type of that list must always be alpha? Thanks EDIT: the reason why it's inconvenient for me to use alpha lists is because i can't compare the head of the alpha list with an integer value due to type-matching complaints

  • Is it possible to define a generic lambda?

    - by Mike OBrien
I have some logic in a method that operates on a specified type and I'd like to create a generic lambda that encapsulates the logic. This is the spirit of what I'm trying to do: public void DoSomething() { // ... Func<T> GetTypeName = () => T.GetType().Name; GetTypeName<string>(); GetTypeName<DateTime>(); GetTypeName<int>(); // ... } I know I can pass the type as a parameter or create a generic method but I'm interested if it can just be a generic lambda (So I'm not looking for alternatives). From what I can tell C# 3.0 doesn't support this. TIA, m

  • rsync over ssh is not working anymore, while ssh itself is working fine (Write failed: broken pipe)

    - by brazorf
This issue started happening after i changed router. This is the scenario: Windows7 Host Ubuntu 10.04 Guest (VirtualBox) Ubuntu 10.04 remote server What i used to do is run a very basic rsync command: rsync -avz --delete /local/path/ username@host:/path/to/remote/directory This worked perfect until i did change adsl provider, and i changed router aswell: now, this happens: rsync on Ubuntu Guest is not working anymore (to any random server), if using this new router rsync on Ubuntu Guest is WORKING, if i switch back to old router i tried a new virtual box ubuntu install, and the command is WORKING with both the routers So, the not-working-combo is oldUbuntu + newRouter. To get things worst, i can state that (on the not-working ubuntu) i ping the remote host plain ssh connection to the remote host is working fine (i can auth, connect, and do stuff on the remote host) scp is NOT working (this is just a further thing i tried) This is the console output of the execution, with ssh verbose set to vvvv: root@client:~# rsync -ae 'ssh -vvvv' /root/test-rsync/ • Find a name in a list if the name is spelt wrong

    - by Matt
I've got a list of names which some code checks against to see if the person exists, and if so do some stuff.. My issue is that I want to handle the case of the name being entered incorrectly.. I.e. I have a list of names Bob Frank Tom Tim John If I type in Joohn, I want it to ask me if I meant John. If I type Tm, I get asked if I meant Tim, if I say no, it asks if i meant Tom.. Etc.. Has anyone done something like this before?

  • jquery refresh php loop?

    - by Elliott
Hi, I have a page in which users can make "posts" its similar to facebook, I am trying to figure out how I can get it to run the php loop say every 10mins, in order for the person to see new posts. Everytime a post is made it is added into the db and then the page is refreshed, I want to do it more "facebook like". Using jquery slide down etc. Below is what I have up2 now. function postdata() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", dataType: "text", url: "makepost.php", data: "post_text=" + $("#post_text").val(), cache: false, success: function(reply_text) { if (reply_text.indexOf("Successful") >= 0) { alert("Post Made"); window.location = "index.php" } else { alert(reply_text); } } }); } </script> <div id="content"> <?php if (loggedin()) { $ID = getID(); $query = "SELECT * FROM `posts`"; $result=mysql_query($query); $count=mysql_num_rows($result); $users = "SELECT `userID` FROM `users`"; $resultID=mysql_query($users); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo '<div class="posts">'; echo $row['2']."<br /><br />"; echo '<div class="posts_bottom">'; echo '<p class="name">'; echo showuser($row['1'])."</p>"; echo '<p class="rate">'; echo '<input type="submit" value="+1"/></p>'; echo '<p class="points">'; echo showpoints($row['1'])."</p>"; echo "</div>"; echo '</div>'; } echo '<div id="makepost"> <br /><textarea rows="3" cols="25" id="post_text" ></textarea><br /> <input type="submit" id="post_bttn" value="Post" onclick="postdata(); return false;"> </div>'; As they are put into a new div everytime I don't know what to refresh? Such as if it was one div I could jus refresh that, but these are being created and I don't know how many would need to be loaded. Any adivce? Thanks alot :D

  • Activator.CreateInstance(string) and Activator.CreateInstance<T>() difference

    - by Juan Manuel Formoso
No, this is not a question about generics. I have a Factory pattern with several classes with internal constructors (I don't want them being instantiated if not through the factory). My problem is that CreateInstance fails with a "No parameterless constructor defined for this object" error unless I pass "true" on the non-public parameter. Example // Fails Activator.CreateInstance(type); // Works Activator.CreateInstance(type, true); I wanted to make the factory generic to make it a little simpler, like this: public class GenericFactory<T> where T : MyAbstractType { public static T GetInstance() { return Activator.CreateInstance<T>(); } } However, I was unable to find how to pass that "true" parameter for it to accept non-public constructors (internal). Did I miss something or it isn't possible?

  • How to create a view of table that contains a timestamp column?

    - by Matt Faus
This question is an extension of a previous one I have asked. I have a table (2014_05_31_transformed.Video) with a schema that looks like this. I have put up the JSON returned by the BigQuery API describing it's schema in this gist. I am trying to create a view against this table with an API call that looks like this: { 'view': { 'query': u 'SELECT deleted_mod_time FROM [2014_05_31_transformed.Video]' }, 'tableReference': { 'datasetId': 'latest_transformed', 'tableId': u 'Video', 'projectId': 'redacted' } } But, the BigQuery API is returning this error: HttpError: https://www.googleapis.com/bigquery/v2/projects/124072386181/datasets/latest_transformed/tables?alt=json returned "Invalid field name "deleted_mod_time.usec". Fields must contain only letters, numbers, and underscores, start with a letter or underscore, and be at most 128 characters long." The schema that the BigQuery API does not make any distinction between a TIMESTAMP data type and a regular nullable INTEGER data type, so I can't think of a way to programmatically correct this problem. Is there anything I can do, or is this a bug with BigQuery's view implementation?

  • Is it safe to convert varchar and char into nvarchar and nchar in SQL Server?

    - by Svish
We currently have a number of columns in the database which are of type varchar. The application that uses them are in C# and it uses Linq2Sql for the communication (or what to call it). We would like to support unicode characters, which means we would have to convert the varchar columns into nvarchar. Is this a safe operation? Is it just a matter of changing the column type and updating the dbml file, or are there more stuff that needs to be done? Any changes in the C# code? Do I need to somehow convert the text that already exist in the database manually, or is it handled for me?

  • best option to create simple website mockup with navigation

    - by Buzzer
I'm trying to put together a static html website with full navigation. In other words, I want the user to click some links and images and actually be taken to another page. I'm a developer so I know how to do this in frameworks like ASP.Net MVC and grails. However, for this particular case, I just want to quickly mock up the UI and provide simple navigation so I can do some user testing. Can anyone advice on how to do this? Thanks,

  • SQLite doesn't have booleans or date-times...but C# does

    - by DanM
I've been thinking about using SQLite for my next project, but I'm concerned that it seems to lack proper datetime and bit data types. If I use DbLinq (or some other ORM) to generate C# classes, will the data types of the properties be "dumbed down"? Will date-time data be placed in properties of type string or double? Will boolean data be placed in properties of type int? If yes, what are the implications? I'm envisioning a scenario where I need to write a whole second layer of classes with more specific data types and do a bunch of transformations and casts, but maybe it's not so bad. If you have any experience with this or a similar scenario, what are your "lessons learned"?

  • Emails sent using Flex app are delayed

    - by user363825
I'm currently building an application in Flex that utilizes SMTP Mailer to automatically send out emails to the user when a particular condition is satisfied. The application checks this condition every 30 seconds. The condition is satisfied based on new records being returned from a database table. The problem is as follows: When the condition is first satisfied, the email is delivered to the user with no issues. The second time the condition is satisfied, the email is not delivered. In the smtp logs, the delivery attempt appears to get hung up on the following line: 354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF> No error codes are present in the smtp logs, but I do trace the following event from the SMTP Mailer class: [Event type="mailError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2] When the condition is satisfied a third time, the email that was not delivered when the condition was satisfied the previous time is now delivered, along with the email for this instance. This pattern then repeats itself, with the next email not being sent followed by two emails being sent simulatneously when the condition is met again. The smtp server being used is Windows 2003, on an internal network. The email is being sent to an outlook account hosted on an exchange server that is also on this internal network. Here is the actionscript code that creates the SMTPMailer object: public var testMail:SMTPMailer = null; public function alertNotify() { Security.loadPolicyFile("crossdomain.xml"); this.testMail = new SMTPMailer("myserver.ec.local",25); this.testMail.addEventListener(SMTPEvent.MAIL_SENT, onEmailEvent); this.testMail.addEventListener(SMTPEvent.MAIL_ERROR, onEmailError); this.testMail.addEventListener(SMTPEvent.DISCONNECTED, onEmailConn); this.testMail.addEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, onEmailError); } Here is the code that creates the email body and calls the method to send the email: public function alertUser(emailAC:ArrayCollection):void { trace ("In alertUser() before send, testMail.connected = " + testMail.connected.toString()); var testStr:String = " Key Location Event Type Comment Update Time "; for each (var event:rEntity in emailAC) { testStr = testStr + "" + event.key.toString() + "" + event.xml.address.toString() + " " + [email protected]() + "" + [email protected]() + "" + [email protected]() + "" + event.xml.attribute("update-time").toXMLString() + ""; } testStr = testStr + ""; testMail.flush(); testMail.sendHTMLMail("[email protected]","[email protected]","Event Notification",testStr); } Really not sure where the email that gets hung up is being stored until it is finally sent.... Any suggestions as to how to begin to remedy this issue would be much appreciated.

  • Wordpress database migration

    - by Sean Cull
Hi Everyone! I've looked around the Wordpress forums about this and didn't find anything so I thought I might try here. If you have a staging/dev Wordpress setup used for testing new pluging and such, how do you go about migrating the data in the staging database back to the production database? Is there a "Wordpress best practices" way to do this, or am I limited to having to manually migrate tables from one database to the other?

  • Stop PHP from creating arrays in $_POST superglobal

    - by cdmckay
PHP will automatically convert <input type="text" name="foo[0]" value="x" /> <input type="text" name="foo[1]" value="y" /> into $_POST['foo'] = array( 0 => 'x', 1 => 'y' ); Which is what you want most of the time. However, in this case I would like this not to happen. Is there anyway to tell PHP to not do this? I realize I could parse php://input myself, but I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it. I also don't have the option of renaming the input names.

  • How to detect an overflow in C++ ?

    - by Tim
Hi, I just wonder if there is some convenient way to detect if overflow happens to any variable of any default data type used in a C++ program during runtime? By convenient, I mean no need to write code to follow each variable if it is in the range of its data type every time its value changes. Or if it is impossible to achieve this, how would you do? For example, float f1=FLT_MAX+1; cout << f1 << endl; doesn't give any error or warning in either compilation with "gcc -W -Wall" or running. Thanks and regards!

  • Windows-1251 file inside UTF-8 site?

    - by Spoonk
Hello everyone Masters Of Web Delevopment :) I have a piece of PHP script that fetches last 10 played songs from my winamp. This script is inside file (lets call it "lastplayed.php") which is included in my site with php include function inside a "div". My site is on UTF-8 encoding. The problem is that some songs titles are in Windows-1251 encoding. And in my site they displays like "??????"... Is there any known way to tell to this div with included "lastplayed.php" in it, to be with windows-1251 encoding? Or any other suggestions? P.S: The file with fetching script a.k.a. "lastplayed.php", is converted to UTF-8. But if it is ANCII it's the same result. I try to put and meta tag with windows-1251 between head tag but nothing happens again. P.P.S: Script that fetches the Winamp's data (lastplayed.php): <?php /****** * You may use and/or modify this script as long as you: * 1. Keep my name & webpage mentioned * 2. • poblems with jquery code

    - by Michael
    Another jquery issue... I have tried this several times using "class" and "id" elements and I can not get it right. I am hoping the brains on stackoverflow can help! The problem that I am having is when I open the page all elments are closed. When I click on one link all links open. I believe it closes correctly the problem is that when I open the first link all items open. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Bid Items</title> <link href="bid.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="jquerry/js/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#showhideconent').hide(); $('a').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent').show('slow'); }); $('a#close').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent').hide('slow'); }) }); $(document).ready(function(){ $('#showhideconent2').hide(); $('a').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent2').show('slow'); }); $('a#close2').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent2').hide('slow'); }) }); $(document).ready(function(){ $('#showhideconent3').hide(); $('a').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent3').show('slow'); }); $('a#close3').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent3').hide('slow'); }) }); $(document).ready(function(){ $('#showhideconent4').hide(); $('a').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent4').show('slow'); }); $('a#close4').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent4').hide('slow'); }) }); </script> </head> <body class="oneColElsCtr" onload="MM_preloadImages('Assignment4b.jpg')"> <div id="container"> <div id="mainContent"> <h1>Bid Page</h1> <h1>Coke Memorbila</h1> <a href="#" id="click">Amber Bottle 1914</a> <div id="box" align="center"> <div id="showhideconent"> <p><a href="coke/Amber1914.shtml"><img src="amber1914.jpg" width="200" height="200" alt="Amber Coke" /></a></p> <p><a href="#" id="close">Close</a> </p> </div> </div> <a href="#" id="click">Amber Bottle 1915</a> <div id="box" align="center"> <div id="showhideconent2"> <p><a href="coke/Amber1915.shtml"><img src="coke/Amber1914.shtml" width="200" height="200" alt="Amber Bottle 1915" /></a></p> <p><a href="#" id="close2">Close</a> </p> </div> </div> <a href="#" id="click">Green 1929</a> <div id="box" align="center"> <div id="showhideconent3"> <p><a href="coke/green1929.shtml"><img src="green1929.jpg" width="200" height="200" alt="Green 1929" /></a></p> <p><a href="#" id="close3">Close</a> </p> </div> </div> <a href="#" id="click">1970s Cans</a> <div id="box" align="center"> <div id="showhideconent4"> <p><a href="coke/tincans.shtml"><img src="coke_tincan.jpg" width="200" height="200" alt="Tin Cans" /></a></p> <p><a href="#" id="close4">Close</a> </p> </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Constructor invocation returned null: what to do?

    - by strager
I have code which looks like: private static DirectiveNode CreateInstance(Type nodeType, DirectiveInfo info) { var ctor = nodeType.GetConstructor(new[] { typeof(DirectiveInfo) }); if(ctor == null) { throw new MissingMethodException(nodeType.FullName, "ctor"); } var node = ctor.Invoke(new[] { info }) as DirectiveNode; if(node == null) { // ???; } return node; } I am looking for what to do (e.g. what type of exception to throw) when the Invoke method returns something which isn't a DirectiveNode or when it returns null (indicated by // ??? above). (By the method's contract, nodeType will always describe a subclass of DirectiveNode.) I am not sure when calling a constructor would return null, so I am not sure if I should handle anything at all, but I still want to be on the safe side and throw an exception if something goes wrong.

  • XML, XPATH adding values

    - by user575373

  • Parse text/html part of email source using Javascript

    - by Ben McCormack
Using javascript, I need to parse the Content-Type text/html portion of an email message and extract just the HTML part. Here's an example of the part of the mail source in question: ------=_Part_1504541_510475628.1327512846983 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <html ... a bunch of html ... /html> I want to extract everything between (and including) the <html> tags after text/html. How do I do this? NOTE: I'm OK with a hacky regex. I don't expect this to be bulletproof.
