  • what is the right way to exit Windoes Service OnStart if configuration is wrong and nothing to do in

    - by matti
Is something like this ok? protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { if (SomeApp.Initialize()) { SomeApp.StartMonitorAndWork(); base.OnStart(args); } } protected override void OnStop() { SomeApp.TearDown(); base.OnStop(); } Here Initialize reads a config file and if it's wrong there's nothing to do so service should STOP! If config is ok StartMonitorAndWork starts: Timer(new TimerCallback(DoWork), null, startTime, loopTime); and DoWork polls database periodically. The question is: "Is exiting OnStart without doing nothing enough if Initialize returns false? OR should there be something like this: private void ExitService() { this.OnStop(); System.Environment.Exit(1); } protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { if (ObjectFolderApp.Initialize()) { SomeApp.StartMonitorAndWork(); base.OnStart(args); } else { ExitService(); } } Thanks & BR - Matti

  • Return nested alias for linq expression

    - by Schotime
I have the following Linq Expression var tooDeep = shoppers .Where(x => x.Cart.CartSuppliers.First().Name == "Supplier1") .ToList(); I need to turn the name part into the following string. x.Cart.CartSuppliers.Name As part of this I turned the Expression into a string and then split on the . and removed the First() argument. However, when I get to CartSuppliers this returns a Suppliers[] array. Is there a way to get the single type from this. eg. I need to get a Supplier back. Thanks

  • Precompile Lambda Expression Tree conversions as constants?

    - by Nathan
It is fairly common to take an Expression tree, and convert it to some other form, such as a string representation (for example this question and this question, and I suspect Linq2Sql does something similar). In many cases, perhaps even most cases, the Expression tree conversion will always be the same, i.e. if I have a function public string GenerateSomeSql(Expression<Func<TResult, TProperty>> expression) then any call with the same argument will always return the same result for example: GenerateSomeSql(x => x.Age) //suppose this will always return "select Age from Person" GenerateSomeSql(x => x.Ssn) //suppose this will always return "select Ssn from Person" So, in essence, the function call with a particular argument is really just a constant, except time is wasted at runtime re-computing it continuously. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that the conversion was sufficiently complex to cause a noticeable performance hit, is there any way to pre-compile the function call into an actual constant?

    - by LivingThing
I am new to Swing, UI and MVC I have created a code based on MVC. Now my problem is that that in the controller part i have an actioneventlistener which listens to different button clicks. Out of all those buttons i have "select all" and "de-select all". In my view i have a table, one of the column of that table contains "check boxes". Now, when i click the "select-all" button i want to check all the check boxes and with "de-select all" i want to uncheck all of them. Below is my code which is not working. • ASP.NET - Overriding Gridview OnRowCreated to add sort images -- columns are null

    - by Zach
I'm overriding the onrowcreated to add sort images to the header row of a gridview. This works, but actually adding a sortexpression doesn't. What I want to do is set the images as imagebuttons and set their commandarguments to the sort expression of the column they are sorting for. I would assume I could get the cell and from it's index get the gridviewcolumn. Then, I could just get the sortexpression of the gridview column, but this does not work. The columns are null. OnRowCreated Code snippet below: //if this is the header row, we add sort images to each cell if (row.RowType == DataControlRowType.Header) { //iterate through the cells for (int i = 0; i < row.Cells.Count; i++) { //if the column is sortable and visible if (this.Columns[i].SortExpression != string.Empty && this.Columns[i].Visible) { string strSort = this.Columns[i].SortExpression; } } } Can we not get columns in OnRowCreated like this?

  • Android: handle unexpected internet disconnect while downloading data

    - by M.A. Cape
Hi, I have here a function that downloads data from a remote server to file. I am still not confident with my code. My question is, what if while reading the stream and saving the data to a file and suddenly I was disconnected in the internet, will these catch exceptions below can really catch that kind of incident? If not, can you suggest how to handle this kind of incident? Note: I call this function in a thread so that the UI won't be blocked. public static boolean getFromRemote(String link, String fileName, Context context){ boolean dataReceived = false; ConnectivityManager connec = (ConnectivityManager)context.getSystemService(Context.CONNECTIVITY_SERVICE); if (connec.getNetworkInfo(0).isConnected() || connec.getNetworkInfo(1).isConnected()){ try { HttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpGet httpGet = new HttpGet(link); HttpParams params = httpClient.getParams(); HttpConnectionParams.setConnectionTimeout(params, 30000); HttpConnectionParams.setSoTimeout(params, 30000); HttpResponse response; response = httpClient.execute(httpGet); int statusCode = response.getStatusLine().getStatusCode(); if (statusCode == 200){ HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); InputStream in = null; OutputStream output = null; try{ in = entity.getContent(); String secondLevelCacheDir = context.getCacheDir() + fileName; File imageFile = new File(secondLevelCacheDir); output= new FileOutputStream(imageFile); IOUtilities.copy(in, output); output.flush(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("SAVING", "Could not load xml", e); } finally { IOUtilities.closeStream(in); IOUtilities.closeStream(output); dataReceived = true; } } }catch (SocketTimeoutException e){ //Handle not connecting to client !!!! • big O notation algorithm

    - by niggersak
Use big-O notation to classify the traditional grade school algorithms for addition and multiplication. That is, if asked to add two numbers each having N digits, how many individual additions must be performed? If asked to multiply two N-digit numbers, how many individual multiplications are required? . Suppose f is a function that returns the result of reversing the string of symbols given as its input, and g is a function that returns the concatenation of the two strings given as its input. If x is the string hrwa, what is returned by g(f(x),x)? Explain your answer - don't just provide the result!

  • How to expose a Delphi set type via Soap

    - by Wouter van Nifterick
I'm currently creating soap wrappers for some Delphi functions so that we can easily use them from PHP, C# and Delphi. I wonder what's the best way to expose sets. type TCountry = (countryUnknown, countryNL,countryD,countryB,countryS,countryFIN,countryF,countryE,countryP,countryPl,countryL); TCountrySet = set of TCountry; function GetValidCountrySet(const LicensePlate:string; const PossibleCountriesSet:TCountrySet):TCountrySet; I'm currently wrapping it like this for the soap server: type TCountryArray = array of TCountry; function TVehicleInfo.GetValidCountrySet(const LicensePlate:string; const PossibleCountriesSet:TCountryArray):TCountryArray; It works, but I need to write a lot of useless and ugly code to convert sets--arrays and arrays--sets. Is there an easier, more elegant, or more generic way to do this?

  • JPanel Layout Image Cutoff

    - by Trizicus
I am adding images to a JPanel but the images are getting cut off. I was originally trying BorderLayout but that only worked for one image and adding others added image cut-off. So I switched to other layouts and the best and closest I could get was BoxLayout however that adds a very large cut-off which is not acceptable either. So basically; How can I add images (from a custom JComponent) to a custom JPanel without bad effects such as the one present in the code. • Creating a simple templated control. Having issues...

    - by Jimock
Hi, I'm trying to create a really simple templated control. I've never done it before, but I know a lot of my controls I have created in the past would have greatly benefited if I included templating ability - so I'm learning now. The problem I have is that my template is outputted on the page but my property value is not. So all I get is the static text which I include in my template. I must be doing something correctly because the control doesn't cause any errors, so it knows my public property exists. (e.g. if I try to use Container.ThisDoesntExist it throws an exception). I'd appreciate some help on this. I may be just being a complete muppet and missing something. Online tutorials on simple templated server controls seem few and far between, so if you know of one I'd like to know about it. A cut down version of my code is below. Many Thanks, James Here is my code for the control: [ParseChildren(true)] public class TemplatedControl : Control, INamingContainer { private TemplatedControlContainer theContainer; [TemplateContainer(typeof(TemplatedControlContainer)), PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)] public ITemplate ItemTemplate { get; set; } protected override void CreateChildControls() { Controls.Clear(); theContainer = new TemplatedControlContainer("Hello World"); this.ItemTemplate.InstantiateIn(theContainer); Controls.Add(theContainer); } } Here is my code for the container: [ToolboxItem(false)] public class TemplatedControlContainer : Control, INamingContainer { private string myString; public string MyString { get { return myString; } } internal TemplatedControlContainer(string mystr) { this.myString = mystr; } } Here is my mark up: <my:TemplatedControl runat="server"> <ItemTemplate> <div style="background-color: Black; color: White;"> Text Here: <%# Container.MyString %> </div> </ItemTemplate> </my:TemplatedControl>

  • C# ArrayList calling on a constructor class

    - by EvanRyan
I'm aware that an ArrayList is probably not the way to go with this particular situation, but humor me and help me lose this headache. I have a constructor class like follows: class Peoples { public string LastName; public string FirstName; public Peoples(string lastName, string firstName) { LastName = lastName; FirstName = firstName; } } And I'm trying to build an ArrayList to build a collection by calling on this constructor. However, I can't seem to find a way to build the ArrayList properly when I use this constructor. I have figured it out with an Array, but not an ArrayList. I have been messing with this to try to build my ArrayList: ArrayList people = new ArrayList(); people[0] = new Peoples("Bar", "Foo"); people[1] = new Peoples("Quirk", "Baz"); people[2] = new Peopls("Get", "Gad"); My indexing is apparently out of range according to the exception I get.

  • eclipse CDT - Cannot open .gcda files

    - by Taani
I am developing a coverage data tool in eclipse cdt. I used gcov and build and execute my C program to generate .gcda and .gcno files. When double click on .gcda file to see the coverage data, below error message displays. An error has occurred. See error log for more details. org.eclipse.linuxtools.binutils.utils.STSymbolManager.demangle(Lorg/eclipse/cdt/core/IBinaryParser$IBinaryObject;Ljava/lang/String;Lorg/eclipse/core/resources/IProject;)Ljava/lang/String; But I already downloaded and save org.eclipse.linuxtools.binutils_4.0.0.201209191645.jar into plugins directory. Where am I doing wrong?

  • TreeMap randomly stops properly returning values

    - by smessing
I have the following TreeMap: TreeMap<String, Integer> distances = new TreeMap<String, Integer>(); and it contains both strings, "Face" and "Foo", with appropriate values, such that: System.out.println(distances); Yields: {Face=12, Foo=2} However, distances.get(Face) returns null, even though distances.get(Foo) properly returns 2. Previously, distances.get(Face) worked, but for some reason, it stopped working. Note I print out the map right before calling get() for both keys, so I haven't accidentally changed Face's value to null. Has anyone else ever encountered this problem? Is there anything I can do? I'm having a terrible time simply trying to figure out how to debug this problem.
