  • Attachment_fu file saving problem

    - by Anand
    Attachment_fu plugin is kind of old, but I have to modify an old app and I can't use another plugin like paperclip etc. So here's the code without further ado Submissions table structure --------------------------- | content_type | varchar(255) | YES | | NULL | filename | varchar(255) | YES | | NULL app/models/submission.rb ------------------------ has_attachment :storage => :file_system, :path_prefix => 'public/submissions', :max_size => 2.megabytes, :content_type => ['application/pdf', 'application/msword', 'text/plain'] app/models/user.rb ------------------ has_one :submission, :dependent => :destroy app/views/user/some_action.html.erb ----------------------------------- <% form_for :user, :url => { :action => "some_action" }, :html => {:multipart => true} do |f| %> .... <%= file_field_tag "submission[uploaded_data]" %> <%end%> app/controllers/user_controller.rb ---------------------------------- @user = User.find_user(session[:user_id]) @submission = @user.submission if request.post? @submission.uploaded_data = params[:submission][:uploaded_data] end When the form is submitted, the database fields "content_type" and "filename" get updated and display the correct values, but the file does not appear in public/submissions/ directory. I have checked the permissions on the submissions directory. What am I missing? Many Thanks

  • Calculate differences between rows while grouping with SQL

    - by Guido
    I have a postgresql table containing movements of different items (models) between warehouses. For example, the following record means that 5 units of model 1 have been sent form warehouse 1 to 2: source target model units ------ ------ ----- ----- 1 2 1 5 I am trying to build a SQL query to obtain the difference between units sent and received, grouped by models. Again with an example: source target model units ------ ------ ----- ----- 1 2 1 5 -- 5 sent from 1 to 2 1 2 2 1 2 1 1 2 -- 2 sent from 2 to 1 2 1 1 1 -- 1 more sent from 2 to 1 The result should be: source target model diff ------ ------ ----- ---- 1 2 1 2 -- 5 sent minus 3 received 1 2 2 1 I wonder if this is possible with a single SQL query. Here is the table creation script and some data, just in case anyone wants to try it: CREATE TEMP TABLE movements ( source INTEGER, target INTEGER, model INTEGER, units INTEGER ); insert into movements values (1,2,1,5); insert into movements values (1,2,2,1); insert into movements values (2,1,1,2); insert into movements values (2,1,1,1);

  • Iterating Over Params Hash

    - by Joe Clark
    I'm having an extremely frustrating time getting some images to upload. They are obviously being uploaded as rack/multipart but the way that I'm iterating over my params hash must be causing the problem. I could REALLY use some help, so I can stop pulling out my hair. So I've got a params hash that looks like this: Parameters: {"commit"=>"Submit", "sighting_report"=>[{"number_seen"=>"1", "picture"=>#<File:/var/folders/IX/IXXrbzpCHkq68OuyY-yoI++++TI/-Tmp-/RackMultipart.85991.5>, "species_id"=>"2"}], "authenticity_token"=>"u0eN5MAfvGWtfEzrqBt4qfrL54VJ9SGX0jFLZCJ8iRM=", "sighting"=>{"sighting_date(2i)"=>"6", "name"=>"", "sighting_date(3i)"=>"5", "county"=>"0", "notes"=>"", "location"=>"", "sighting_date(1i)"=>"2010", "email"=>""}} My form can have multiple sighting reports with multiple pictures in each sighting report. Here's my controller code: def create_multiple @report = Report.new @report.name = params[:sighting]["name"] @report.sighting_date = Date.civil(params[:sighting][:"sighting_date(1i)"].to_i, params[:sighting][:"sighting_date(2i)"].to_i, params[:sighting][:"sighting_date(3i)"].to_i) @report.county_id = params[:sighting][:county] @report.location = params[:sighting][:location] @report.notes = params[:sighting][:notes] @report.email = params[:sighting][:email] @report.save! @report.reload for sr in params[:sighting_report] do sighting = SightingReport.new sighting.report_id = @report.id sighting.species_id = sr[:species_id] sighting.number_seen = sr[:number_seen] sighting.save if sr[:picture] sighting.reload for pic in sr[:picture] do p = SpeciesPic.new p.uploaded_picture = pic p.species_id = sighting.species_id p.report_id = @report.id p.save! end end end redirect_to :action => 'new_multiple' end

  • latin1/unicode conversion problem with ajax request and special characters

    - by mfn
    Server is PHP5 and HTML charset is latin1 (iso-8859-1). With regular form POST requests, there's no problem with "special" characters like the em dash (–) for example. Although I don't know for sure, it works. Probably because there exists a representable character for the browser at char code 150 (which is what I see in PHP on the server for a literal em dash with ord). Now our application also provides some kind of preview mechanism via ajax: the text is sent to the server and a complete HTML for a preview is sent back. However, the ordinary char code 150 em dash character when sent via ajax (tested with GET and POST) mutates into something more: %E2%80%93. I see this already in the apache log. According to various sources I found, e.g. http://www.tachyonsoft.com/uc0020.htm , this is the UTF8 byte representation of em dash and my current knowledge is that JavaScript handles everything in Unicode. However within my app, I need everything in latin1. Simply said: just like a regular POST request would have given me that em dash as char code 150, I would need that for the translated UTF8 representation too. That's were I'm failing, because with PHP on the server when I try to decode it with either utf8_decode(...) or iconv('UTF-8', 'iso-8859-1', ...) but in both cases I get a regular ? representing this character (and iconv also throws me a notice: Detected an illegal character in input string ). My goal is to find an automated solution, but maybe I'm trying to be überclever in this case? I've found other people simply doing manual replacing with a predefined input/output set; but that would always give me the feeling I could loose characters. The observant reader will note that I'm behind on understanding the full impact/complexity with things about Unicode and conversion of chars and I definitely prefer to understand the thing as a whole then a simply manual mapping. thanks

  • Problem with JavaScript arithmetic

    - by Lynn
    I have a form for my customers to add budget projections. A prominent user wants to be able to show dollar values in either dollars, Kila-dollars or Mega-dollars. I'm trying to achieve this with a group of radio buttons that call the following JavaScript function, but am having problems with rounding that make the results look pretty crummy. Any advice would be much appreciated! Lynn function setDollars(new_mode) { var factor; var myfield; var myval; var cur_mode = document.proj_form.cur_dollars.value; if(cur_mode == new_mode) { return; } else if((cur_mode == 'd')&&(new_mode == 'kd')) { factor = "0.001"; } else if((cur_mode == 'd')&&(new_mode == 'md')) { factor = "0.000001"; } else if((cur_mode == 'kd')&&(new_mode == 'd')) { factor = "1000"; } else if((cur_mode == 'kd')&&(new_mode == 'md')) { factor = "0.001"; } else if((cur_mode == 'md')&&(new_mode == 'kd')) { factor = "1000"; } else if((cur_mode == 'md')&&(new_mode == 'd')) { factor = "1000000"; } document.proj_form.cur_dollars.value = new_mode; var cur_idx = document.proj_form.cur_idx.value; var available_slots = 13 - cur_idx; var td_name; var cell; var new_value; //Adjust dollar values for projections for(i=1;i<13;i++) { var myfield = eval('document.proj_form.proj_'+i); if(myfield.value == '') { myfield.value = 0; } var myval = parseFloat(myfield.value) * parseFloat(factor); myfield.value = myval; if(i < cur_idx) { document.getElementById("actual_"+i).innerHTML = myval; } }

  • How can I check if a user has written his username and password correctly?

    - by Sergio Tapia
    I'm using a Linq-to-SQL class called Scans.dbml. In that class I've dragged a table called Users (username, password, role) onto the graphic area and now I can access User object via a UserRepository class: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace Scanner.Classes { public class UserRepository { private ScansDataContext db = new ScansDataContext(); public User getUser(string username) { return db.Users.SingleOrDefault(x => x.username == username); } public bool exists(string username) { } } } Now in my Login form, I want to use this Linq-to-SQL goodness to do all the data related activities. UserRepository users = new UserRepository(); private void btnLogin_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { loginToSystem(); } private void loginToSystem() { if (users.getUser(txtUsername.Text)) { } //If txtUsername exists && User.password == Salt(txtPassword) //then Show.MainForm() with User.accountType in constructor to set permissions. } I need help with verifying that a user exists && that that users.password is equal to SALT(txtpassword.text). Any guidance please?

  • Subqueries on Java GAE Datastore

    - by Dmitry
    I am trying to create a database of users with connection between users (friends list). There are 2 main tables: UserEntity (main field id) and FriendEntity with fields: - initiatorId - id of user who initiated the friendship - friendId - id of user who has been invited. Now I am trying to fetch all friends of one particular user and encountered some problems with using subqueries in JDO here. Logically the query should be something like this: SQL: SELECT * FROM UserEntity WHERE EXISTS (SELECT * FORM FriendEntity WHERE (initiatorId == UserEntity.id && friendId == userId) || (friendId == UserEntity.id && initiatorId == userId)) or SELECT * FROM UserEntity WHERE userId IN (SELECT * FROM FriendEntity WHERE initiatorId == UserEntity.id) OR userId IN (SELECT * FROM FriendEntity WHERE friendId == UserEntity.id) So to replicate the last query in JDOQL, I tried to do the following: Query friendQuery = pm.newQuery(FriendEntity.class); friendQuery.setFilter("initiatorId == uidParam"); friendQuery.setResult("friendId"); Query initiatorQuery = pm.newQuery(FriendEntity.class); initiatorQuery.setFilter("friendId == uidParam"); initiatorQuery.setResult("initiatorId"); Query query = pm.newQuery(UserEntity.class); query.setFilter("initiatorQuery.contains(id) || friendQuery.contains(id)"); query.addSubquery(initiatorQuery, "List initiatorQuery", null, "String uidParam"); query.addSubquery(friendQuery, "List friendQuery", null, "String uidParam"); query.declareParameters("String uidParam"); List<UserEntity> friends = (List<UserEntity>) query.execute(userId); In result I get the following error: Unsupported method while parsing expression. Could anyone help with this query please?

  • ASP.NET output caching - dynamically update dependencies

    - by ColinE
    Hi All, I have an ASP.NET application which requires output caching. I need to invalidate the cached items when the data returned from a web service changes, so a simple duration is not good enough. I have been doing a bit of reading about cache dependencies and think I have the right idea. It looks like I will need to create a cache dependency to my web service. To associate the page output with this dependency I think I should use the following method: Response.AddCacheItemDependency(cacheKey); The thing I am struggling with is what I should add to the cache? The dependency my page has is to a single value returned by the web service. My current thinking is that I should create a Custom Cache Dependency via subclassing CacheDependency, and store the current value in the cache. I can then use Response.AddCacheItemDependency to form the dependency. I can then periodically check the value and for a NotifyDependencyChange in order to invalidate my cached HTTP response. The problem is, I need to ensure that the cache is flushed immediately, so a periodic check is not good enough. How can I ensure that my dependant object in the cache which represents the value returned by the web service is re-evaluated before the HTTP response is fetched from the cache? Regards, Colin E.

  • Update C# Chart using BackgroundWorker

    - by Mark
    I am currently trying to update a chart which is on my form to the background worker using: bwCharter.RunWorkerAsync(chart1); Which runs: private void bcCharter_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Chart chart = null; // Convert e.Argument to chart //.. // Converted.. chart.Series.Clear(); e.Result=chart; setChart(c.chart); } private void setChart(System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Chart arg) { if (chart1.InvokeRequired) { chart1.Invoke(new MethodInvoker(delegate { setChart(arg); })); return; } chart1 = arg; } However, at the point of clearing the series, an exception is thrown. Basically, I want to do a whole lot more processing after clearing the series, which slows the GUI down completely - so wanted this in another thread. I thought that by passing it as an argument, I should be safe, but apparently not! Interestingly, the chart is on a tab page. I can run this over and over if the tabpage is in the background, but if I run this, look at the chart, hide it again, and re-run, it throws the exception. Obviously, it throws if the chart is in the foreground as well. Can anyone suggest what I can do differently? Thanks!

  • NSURLConnection and empty post variables

    - by SooDesuNe
    I'm at my wits end with this one, because I've used very similar code in the past, and it worked just fine. The following code results in empty $_POST variables on the server. I verified this with: file_put_contents('log_file_name', "log: ".$word, FILE_APPEND); the only contents of log_file_name was "log: " I then verified the PHP with a simple HTML form. It performed as expected. The Objective-C: NSString *word = "this_word_gets_lost"; NSString *myRequestString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"word=%@", word]; [self postAsynchronousPHPRequest:myRequestString toPage:@"http://www.mysite.com/mypage.php" delegate:nil]; } -(void) postAsynchronousPHPRequest:(NSString*)request toPage:(NSString*)URL delegate:(id)delegate{ NSData *requestData = [ NSData dataWithBytes: [ request UTF8String ] length: [ request length ] ]; NSMutableURLRequest *URLrequest = [ [ NSMutableURLRequest alloc ] initWithURL: [ NSURL URLWithString: URL ] ]; [ URLrequest setHTTPMethod: @"POST" ]; [ URLrequest setHTTPBody: requestData ]; [ NSURLConnection connectionWithRequest:URLrequest delegate:delegate]; [URLrequest release]; } The PHP: $word = $_POST['word']; file_put_contents('log_file_name', "log: ".$word, FILE_APPEND); What am I doing wrong in the Objective-C that would cause the $_POST variable to be empty on the server?

  • How do I apply a "template" or "skeleton" of code in C# here?

    - by Scott Stafford
    In my business layer, I need many, many methods that follow the pattern: public BusinessClass PropertyName { get { if (this.m_LocallyCachedValue == null) { if (this.Record == null) { this.m_LocallyCachedValue = new BusinessClass( this.Database, this.PropertyId); } else { this.m_LocallyCachedValue = new BusinessClass( this.Database, this.Record.ForeignKeyName); } } return this.m_LocallyCachedValue; } } I am still learning C#, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to write this pattern once and add methods to each business layer class that follow this pattern with the proper types and variable names substituted. BusinessClass is a typename that must be substituted, and PropertyName, PropertyId, ForeignKeyName, and m_LocallyCachedValue are all variables that should be substituted for. Are attributes usable here? Do I need reflection? How do I write the skeleton I provided in one place and then just write a line or two containing the substitution parameters and get the pattern to propagate itself? EDIT: Modified my misleading title -- I am hoping to find a solution that doesn't involve code generation or copy/paste techniques, and rather to be able to write the skeleton of the code once in a base class in some form and have it be "instantiated" into lots of subclasses as the accessor for various properties. EDIT: Here is my solution, as suggested but left unimplemented by the chosen answerer. // I'll write many of these... public BusinessClass PropertyName { get { return GetSingleRelation(ref this.m_LocallyCachedValue, this.PropertyId, "ForeignKeyName"); } } // That all call this. public TBusinessClass GetSingleRelation<TBusinessClass>( ref TBusinessClass cachedField, int fieldId, string contextFieldName) { if (cachedField == null) { if (this.Record == null) { ConstructorInfo ci = typeof(TBusinessClass).GetConstructor( new Type[] { this.Database.GetType(), typeof(int) }); cachedField = (TBusinessClass)ci.Invoke( new object[] { this.Database, fieldId }); } else { var obj = this.Record.GetType().GetProperty(objName).GetValue( this.Record, null); ConstructorInfo ci = typeof(TBusinessClass).GetConstructor( new Type[] { this.Database.GetType(), obj.GetType()}); cachedField = (TBusinessClass)ci.Invoke( new object[] { this.Database, obj }); } } return cachedField; }

  • Theory: "Lexical Encoding"

    - by _ande_turner_
    I am using the term "Lexical Encoding" for my lack of a better one. A Word is arguably the fundamental unit of communication as opposed to a Letter. Unicode tries to assign a numeric value to each Letter of all known Alphabets. What is a Letter to one language, is a Glyph to another. Unicode 5.1 assigns more than 100,000 values to these Glyphs currently. Out of the approximately 180,000 Words being used in Modern English, it is said that with a vocabulary of about 2,000 Words, you should be able to converse in general terms. A "Lexical Encoding" would encode each Word not each Letter, and encapsulate them within a Sentence. // An simplified example of a "Lexical Encoding" String sentence = "How are you today?"; int[] sentence = { 93, 22, 14, 330, QUERY }; In this example each Token in the String was encoded as an Integer. The Encoding Scheme here simply assigned an int value based on generalised statistical ranking of word usage, and assigned a constant to the question mark. Ultimately, a Word has both a Spelling & Meaning though. Any "Lexical Encoding" would preserve the meaning and intent of the Sentence as a whole, and not be language specific. An English sentence would be encoded into "...language-neutral atomic elements of meaning ..." which could then be reconstituted into any language with a structured Syntactic Form and Grammatical Structure. What are other examples of "Lexical Encoding" techniques? If you were interested in where the word-usage statistics come from : http://www.wordcount.org

  • Issue in setting alarm time in AlarmManager Class

    - by Anshuman
    I have used the following code in setting alarm time in AlarmManager class. Now Suppose my device current date 9-july-2012 11:31:00, Now suppose i set set a alarm at 9-july-2012 11:45:00, then it works fine and pop-up an alarm at that time. But if i set an alarm at 10-aug-2012 11:40:00, then as soon as exit the app the alarm pop-up, which is wrong because i set an alarm at month of august, So why this happen, is anything wrong in my code. if anyone knows help me to solve this out. Code For Setting Alarm time in AlarmManager class Intent myIntent = new Intent(context, AlarmService.class); PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getService(context, i, myIntent, i); AlarmManager alarmManager = (AlarmManager)context.getSystemService(AlarmService.ALARM_SERVICE); Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance(); calendar.setTimeInMillis(System.currentTimeMillis()); calendar.add(Calendar.MILLISECOND, (int) dateDifferenceFromSystemTime(NoteManager.getSingletonObject().getAlarmTime(i))); alarmManager.set(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, calendar.getTimeInMillis(), pendingIntent); public static long dateDifferenceFromSystemTime(Date date) { long difference = 0; try { Calendar c = Calendar.getInstance(); difference = date.getTime() - c.getTimeInMillis(); if (difference < 0) { // if difference is -1 - means alarm time is of previous time then current // then firstly change it to +positive and subtract form 86400000 to get exact new time to play alarm // 86400000-Total no of milliseconds of 24hr Day difference = difference * -1; difference = 86400000 - difference; } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return difference; } Service class which pop-up alarm when matches time public class AlarmService extends IntentService { public void onCreate() { super.onCreate(); } public AlarmService() { super("MyAlarmService"); } @Override public int onStartCommand(Intent intent, int flags, int startId) { super.onStartCommand(intent, startId, startId); return START_STICKY; } @Override protected void onHandleIntent(Intent intent) { startActivity(new Intent(this,AlarmDialogActivity.class).setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK)); } }

  • cookie name is truncated in Servlet 3.0 HttpServletRequest (Glassfish V3)

    - by idplmal
    I'm porting our Web authentication/authorization middleware for use in containers implementing the new servlet 3.0 API (Glassfish V3 in this case). The middleware pulls cookies from the HttpServletRequest filtering on cookies with names of the form "DACS:FEDERATION::JURISDICTION:username". This works fine in the version 2.5 servlet API but is broken in 3.0. The cookie names in 3.0 are being truncated at the first ":" in the name. I understand that the servlet 3.0 implementation defaults to RFC 2109 cookies which are more restrictive about cookie names than the old Netscape spec (":" is among the characters not allowed in RFC 2109 cookie names). Digging into the servlet 3.0 source code, it appears that the use of RFC2109 names can be disabled by setting a System property "org.glassfish.web.rfc2109.cookie_names_enforced" to false. I've tried this to no avail. But besides that, the code that uses checks cookie names is in the constructor for Cookie, and it would appear that the truncation is occurring elsewhere. So - finally - the question. Have others bumped into such issues in the servlet 3.0 API and have you found a work around?

  • How can I get a static URL to a map image using the Google Static Maps API?

    - by Argote
    === BACKGROUND === Hello, so I've published a Web-App (still in "Beta") which uses the Flickr API to get information for the photos of a particular Flickr user and generates IPB code to post any of his/her images. While Flickr now gives you the IPB code to show the image and link back to the photo site directly on its site, my App also has the option of embeding the title, description, select EXIF data, location information, etc. into the post for the IPB forum. === PROBLEM === I've most recently added the option to integrate a Google Maps image of the photo's geolocation data into the post by using the Google Static Maps API. The problem is that the image URL I have is in the following form (including IPB [IMG] tags): [IMG]http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?zoom=16&size=600x600&maptype=hybrid&markers=19.387687,-99.251732&sensor=false[/IMG] Which shows this example image (In practice the image size is user selectable): However, some IPB forums seem to not support dyamic image URLs which gives me a broken image, I'd like to replace the [IMG]http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?zoom=16&size=600x600&maptype=hybrid&markers=19.387687,-99.251732&sensor=false[/IMG] with something like [IMG]http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap/map0000001.png[/IMG] which should be supported by all IPB forums. Thanks in advance for your help. In case you're interested, the most recent "released" version of my Web-App can be found here: http://flickr.argote.mx/ (The changes I mention here are still on local development server).

  • Are there any libraries for showing diffs between two web pages?

    - by Chad Johnson
    I am looking for a library in any language--preferably PHP though--that will display the difference between two web pages. The differences can be displayed side-by-side, all in one document, or in any other creative way. Examples of what this would look like: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pLC3YDiv_I4/SBZPYQMDsPI/AAAAAAAAADk/wUMxK307jXw/s1600-h/wikipediadiff.jpg http://www.rohland.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/html_diff_output_text.PNG I am NOT looking for raw code diffing, like this: http://thinkingphp.org/img/code_coverage_html_diff_view.png. I do NOT want to show the difference between two sets of HTML. I want to show differences in rendered, WYSIWYG form. Every solution I tried suffered from one or more of the following problems: If I change the attribute of an element (eg. change [table border="1"] to [table border="2"]), then I'll have an extra table tag in the output (eg. [table border="1"][table border="1"][tr][td]...). And, one table tag will have a del tag around it, while the other will have an ins tag around it, and that will obviously cause problems. If I change [html][body][b]some content here[/b][/body][/html] to [html][body][i]some other content here[/i][/body][/html] then it looks like [html][body][b][del]original[/del][i][ins]new[/ins] content here[/b][/i][/body][/html] I'm looking for out-of-the-box ideas. Any ideas are welcome.

  • How can I loop thru all controls (including ToolStripItems) C#

    - by Murray
    I need to save and restore settings for specific controls on a form. I loop thru all controls and return the one whose name matches the one I want, like so: private static Control GetControlByName(string name, Control.ControlCollection Controls) { Control thisControl = null; foreach (Control c in Controls) { if (c.Name == name) { thisControl = c; break; } if (c.Controls.Count > 0) { thisControl = GetControlByName(name, c.Controls); if (thisControl != null) { break; } } } return thisControl; } From this I can determine the type of control and therefore the property that should be / has been stored. This works well unless the control is one of the ToolStrip family which has been added to a toolstrip. e.g. this.toolStrip.Items.AddRange(new System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem[] { this.lblUsername, // ToolStripLabel this.toolStripSeparator1, this.cbxCompany}); // ToolStripComboBox In this case I can see the control I'm interested in (cbxCompany) when debugging, but the name property has no value so the code does not match to it. Any suggestions on how I can get to these controls too? Cheers, Murray

  • new page/forward in javascript

    - by acidzombie24
    I am making a greasemonkey script and i would like a link to go forward and modify the current html and allow the user to click back to go to the original page. How might i do this? using jquery + greasemonkey + javascript. Targeting firefox mostly. -edit- http://jsfiddle.net/ seems to do it. If you write random html in the html section, hit run, change the html and hit run again. You'll be able to click back/forward to see the output change (however the html input box stays the same). I am using firefox to view this. Thats the effect i want. it appears the magic is done on line 91. Is this submitting a form in a frame (perhaps the results frame?) and that is causing the movement in history? 88 run: function(e) { 89 e.stop(); 90 Layout.updateFromMirror(); 91 document.id(this.options.formId).submit(); 92 this.fireEvent('run'); 93 },

Try con.Open() reader = cmd.ExecuteReader() ' For each item, add the author name to the displayed ' list box text, and store the unique ID in the Value property. Do While reader.Read() Dim newItem As New ListItem() newItem.Text = reader("AllSites_Countries_Name") newItem.Value = reader("AllSites_Countries_Id") CType(LoginViewCart.FindControl("lstCountry"), DropDownList).Items.Add(newItem) Loop reader.Close() CType(LoginViewCart.FindControl("lstCountry"), DropDownList).SelectedValue = 182 Catch Err As Exception Response.Redirect("~/error-on-page/") MailSender.SendMailMessage("*********************", "", "", OrangeBoxSiteId.SiteName & " Error Catcher", "<p>Error in sub FillCountry</p><p>Error on page:" & HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.AbsoluteUri & "</p><p>Error details: " & Err.Message & "</p>") Response.Redirect("~/error-on-page/") Finally con.Close() End Try When the form is submitted an error occurs which says that the string "" cannot be converted to the datatype integer. For some reason the dropdownlist is posting "" rather than the value for the selected country.

  • Send HTTPService Request in flex 3 with '-' in the URl Paramerters to get Google Feeds

    - by Goysar
    I am developing application in flex 3 which interacts with the Google feeds to produce my results. The URL to which i want to send request is something like this http://books.google.com/books/feeds/volumes?q=football+-soccer&start-index=11&max-results=10 Now i can send and receive results with q parameter, but in the next two parameters has a '-' (start-index and max-results). I am using HTTPService to send the requeset like this. SearchService.url = "http://books.google.com/books/feeds/volumes"; SearchService.method = "GET"; SearchService.contentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" Here SearchService is the HTTPService var params:Object = new Object(); params.q = searchText; params.start-index = 11; params.max-results = 100; service.SearchService.send(params); Now my flex IDE throws me a error stating 'Cannot assign a non-reference value'. Only if i send the request with this parameters, i could put pagination in my application. So how can i send HTTPService request with '-' in the URL parameters?

  • Rails nested models and data separation by scope

    - by jobrahms
    I have Teacher, Student, and Parent models that all belong to User. This is so that a Teacher can create Students and Parents that can or cannot log into the app depending on the teacher's preference. Student and Parent both accept nested attributes for User so a Student and User object can be created in the same form. All four models also belong to Studio so I can do data separation by scope. The current studio is set in application_controller.rb by looking up the current subdomain. In my students controller (all of my controllers, actually) I'm using @studio.students.new instead of Student.new, etc, to scope the new student to the correct studio, and therefore the correct subdomain. However, the nested User does not pick up the studio from its parent - it gets set to nil. I was thinking that I could do something like params[:student][:user_attributes][:studio_id] = @student.studio.id in the controller, but that would require doing attr_accessible :studio_id in User, which would be bad. How can I make sure that the nested User picks up the same scope that the Student model gets when it's created? student.rb class Student < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :studio belongs_to :user, :dependent => :destroy attr_accessible :user_attributes accepts_nested_attributes_for :user, :reject_if => :all_blank end students_controller.rb def create @student = @studio.students.new @student.attributes = params[:student] if @student.save redirect_to @student, :notice => "Successfully created student." else render :action => 'new' end end user.rb class User < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :studio accepts_nested_attributes_for :studio attr_accessible :email, :password, :password_confirmation, :remember_me, :studio_attributes devise :invitable, :database_authenticatable, :recoverable, :rememberable, :trackable end

  • jQuery.post() issues with passing data to jQuery UI

    - by solefald
    Hello, I am trying to get jQuery.post() to run my php script and then open a jQuery UI dialog with the data that php script returns. Its supposed to come back as a form with a table and a textarea in it. It works great with alert(data); and i get a pop-up with all my data. The problem starts if i turn off alert(). Now it opens 2 dialogs. One containing only the table, without textarea, and the second one absolutely empty. What am i doing wrong here? How come all my data shows up in the alert(), but not in dialog? What do i need to do to fix it? Oh, and do i need to also include $.ajax() before the $.post()? Thank you. $.post("/path/to/script.php", { id: this.id, value: value }, function(data){ // THIS WORKS //alert(data); // THIS DOES NOT WORK $(data).dialog({ autoOpen: true, width: 400, modal: true, position: 'center', resizable: false, draggable: true, title: 'Pending Changes' }); } );

  • Patterns for non-layered applications

    - by Paul Stovell
    In Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture, Martin Fowler writes: This book is thus about how you decompose an enterprise application into layers and how those layers work together. Most nontrivial enterprise applications use a layered architecture of some form, but in some situations other approaches, such as pipes and filters, are valuable. I don't go into those situations, focussing instead on the context of a layered architecture because it's the most widely useful. What patterns exist for building non-layered applications/parts of an application? Take a statistical modelling engine for a financial institution. There might be a layer for data access, but I expect that most of the code would be in a single layer. Would you still expect to see Gang of Four patterns in such a layer? How about a domain model? Would you use OO at all, or would it be purely functional? The quote mentions pipes and filters as alternate models to layers. I can easily imagine a such an engine using pipes as a way to break down the data processing. What other patterns exist? Are there common patterns for areas like task scheduling, results aggregation, or work distribution? What are some alternatives to MapReduce?

  • How to store a file on a server(web container) through a Java EE web application?

    - by Yatendra Goel
    I have developed a Java EE web application. This application allows a user to upload a file with the help of a browser. Once the user has uploaded his file, this application first stores the uploaded file on the server (on which it is running) and then processes it. At present, I am storing the file on the server as follows: try { FormFile formFile = programForm.getTheFile(); // formFile represents the uploaded file String path = getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("") + "/" + formFile.getFileName(); System.out.println(path); file = new File(path); outputStream = new FileOutputStream(file); outputStream.write(formFile.getFileData()); } where, the formFile represents the uploaded file. Now, the problem is that it is running fine on some servers but on some servers the getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("") is returning null so the final path that I am getting is null/filename and the file doesn't store on the server. When I checked the API for ServletContext.getRealPath() method, I found the following: public java.lang.String getRealPath(java.lang.String path) Returns a String containing the real path for a given virtual path. For example, the path "/index.html" returns the absolute file path on the server's filesystem would be served by a request for "http://host/contextPath/index.html", where contextPath is the context path of this ServletContext. The real path returned will be in a form appropriate to the computer and operating system on which the servlet container is running, including the proper path separators. This method returns null if the servlet container cannot translate the virtual path to a real path for any reason (such as when the content is being made available from a .war archive). So, Is there any other way by which I can store files on those servers also which is returning null for getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("")
