    I'm trying to implement a simple notebook in Qt. Microsoft OneNote allows text or an image from a website to be inserted by Drag&Drop with an attached link to the source that looks like this for the stackoverflow logo on the 'ask' page: Inserted from <http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask. With the QT dropsite example, I examined all the information thats transported by the QMimeData object, but didn't find something really helpful. Do you know a way to do this in pure Qt or at least with not so much platform-dependant code?

  • How to store array of NSManagedObjects in an NSManagedObject

    I am loading my app with a property list of data from a web site. This property list file contains an NSArray of NSDictionaries which itself contains an NSArray of NSDictionaries. Basically, I'm trying to load a tableView of restaurant menu categories each of which contains menu items. My property list file is fine. I am able to load the file and loop through the nodes structure creating NSEntityDescriptions and am able to save to Core Data. Everything works fine and expectedly except that in my menu category managed object, I have an NSArray of menu items for that category. Later on, when I fetch the categories, the pointers to the menu items in a category is lost and I get all the menu items. Am I suppose to be using predicates or does Core Data keep track of my object graph for me? Can anyone look at how I am loading Core Data and point out the flaw in my logic? I'm pretty good with either SQL and OOP by themselves, but am a little bewildered by ORM. I thought that I should just be able to use aggregation in my managed objects and that the framework would keep track of the pointers for me, but apparently not.     I read On most operating systems, the addresses in memory starts from highest to lowest. So I am wondering if the heap, stack, and global memory all fall under the same ordering..? What am I doing wrong? How do I alter this so that simply doing <?= $tag->created; ?> in my view will format the date the way I want? This, essentially, needs to be an 'after filter', of sorts. EDIT If I can find a way to access the current model entity object (not the full namespaced path, $self contains that), I can probably solve my problem.

  • Robust way to save/load objects with dependencies?

    I'm writing an Android game in Java and I need a robust way to save and load application state quickly. The question seems to apply to most OO languages. To understand what I need to save: I'm using a Strategy pattern to control my game entities. The idea is I have a very general Entity class which e.g. stores the location of a bullet/player/enemy and I then attach a Behaviour class that tells the entity how to act: class Entiy { float x; float y; Behavior b; } abstract class Behavior { void update(Entity e); {} // Move about at a constant speed class MoveBehavior extends Behavior { float speed; void update ... } // Chase after another entity class ChaseBehavior extends Behavior { Entity target; void update ... } // Perform two behaviours in sequence class CombineBehavior extends Behavior { Behaviour a, b; void update ... } Essentially, Entity objects are easy to save but Behaviour objects can have a semi-complex graph of dependencies between other Entity objects and other Behaviour objects. I also have cases where a Behaviour object is shared between entities. I'm willing to change my design to make saving/loading state easier, but the above design works really well for structuring the game. Anyway, the options I've considered are: Use Java serialization. This is meant to be really slow in Android (I'll profile it sometime). I'm worried about robustness when changes are made between versions however. Use something like JSON or XML. I'm not sure how I would cope with storing the dependencies between objects however. Would I have to give each object a unique ID and then use these IDs on loading to link the right objects together? I thought I could e.g. change the ChaseBehaviour to store a ID to an entity, instead of a reference, that would be used to look up the Entity before performing the behaviour. I'd rather avoid having to write lots of loading/saving code myself as I find it really easy to make mistakes (e.g. forgetting to save something, reading things out in the wrong order). Can anyone give me any tips on good formats to save to or class designs that make saving state easier?

    I have a strange problem in C++. An address of a Boolean gets "destroyed" but it doesn't get touched. I know that there are beater way's to accomplish what I try to do, but I want to know what I do wrong. I have a main class; this main class contains a vector of another class. There is a strange problem when a new instance gets created of this object. This is how my code works: There will start a thread when the constructor gets called of the “2nd”object. This thread gets as Parameter a struct. This is the struct: struct KeyPressData { vector<bool> *AutoPressStatus; vector<int> *AutoPressTime; bool * Destroy; bool * Ready; }; The struct gets filled in the constructor: MultiBoxClient::MultiBoxClient() { //init data DestroyThread = new bool; ReadyThread = new bool; AutoThreadData = new KeyPressData; //Reseting data *DestroyThread = false; *ReadyThread = false; //KeyPressData configurating AutoThreadData->AutoPressStatus = &AutoPressStatus; AutoThreadData->AutoPressTime = &AutoPressTime; AutoThreadData->Destroy = DestroyThread; AutoThreadData->Ready = ReadyThread; //Start the keypress thread CreateThread(NULL,NULL,(LPTHREAD_START_ROUTINE)AutoKeyThread,AutoThreadData,NULL,NULL); } As long as the constructor is running will the program run fine. But when the constructor closes the address of the “AutoThreadData-Destroy” will get corrupted. The program will crash when I call the value of the pointer. void WINAPI AutoKeyThread(void * ThreadData) { KeyPressData * AutoThreadData = (KeyPressData*)ThreadData; while(true) { if(*AutoThreadData->Destroy == true) //CRASH { *AutoThreadData->Ready = true; return; } Sleep(100); } } What did I test: I logged the address of the AutoThreadData and the AutoThreadData-Destroy when the constrcutor is running and clossed; the AutoThreadData address is equal to AutoThreadData when the constructor is closed. So there is no problem here. The address of AutoThreadData-Destroy gets destroyed when the constructor is closed. But how can this happen? The Boolean is on the heap and the KeyPressData struct (AutoThreadData) is on the heap. Destroy before: 00A85328 Destroy after: FEEEFEEE Can someone maby explain why this crash? I know that I can send a pointer to my class to the thread. But I want to know what goes wrong here. That way I can learn from my mistakes. Could someone help me with this problem? Thanks!
