So two questions here: If I use <input type="button" onclick="validate()"> then the enter key wouldn't work. However, I can use type="submit" but how would I invoke validate()?
I am using an image instead of a submit button for search option and use onclick events to load the results using ajax in php.Now I need to load results by hit enter also.Is their any ways to update my application without changing the image.
Thanks

Hi,
I want to validate and commit the value entered in the DataGridViewCell ONLY when the user presses the 'Enter' key.
If the users presses any other key or mouse button (Arrow keys, Pressing a different cell using the mouse...), I want the behavior to be similar to the 'ESC' key: Move the focus to the new cell and revert the edited cell value to its previous value.
I'm trying to create a little search box that allows you to search Twitter based on the keyword you enter in the input field. While it's work, it only works if you press the Submit button. I would also like to be able to press the Enter or Return key to initiate the search. I've tried using the .sumbit function and wrapping my input around a form element with no success. Any insight would be greatly appreciate!
Live example: http://tinyurl.com/84axyym
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
function(data) {
$('#startSearch').click(function(){
$('#tweets .results').remove();
var searchTerm = 'http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q=' + $('#twitterSearch').val() + '&callback=?'
$.getJSON(searchTerm, function(data) {
$.each(data.results, function() {
$('<div class="results"></div>')
.hide()
.append('<a class="userPicLink" href="http://twitter.com/' + this.from_user + '">' + '<img class="userImg" src="' + this.profile_image_url + '">' + '</a>')
.append('<span class="userName">' + '<a href="http://twitter.com/' + this.from_user + '">' + this.from_user + '</span>')
.append('<span class="userText">' + this.text + '</span>')
.append('<time class="textTime">' + relTime(this.created_at) + '</time>')
.appendTo('#tweets')
.fadeIn();
});
});
</script>
<body>
<label id="searchLabel" for="twitterSearch">Search</label>
<input type="search" list="searchSugg" id="twitterSearch" placeholder="css3 animation" required aria-required="true">
<input id="startSearch" type="submit">

I have a form with text input + gradient-shaded button with onclick='this.form.submit()' (plus some hidden inputs).
In all browsers, clicking on the button works.
In Firefox, if I click Enter while in text input, it submits the form.
In IE, it does nothing.
How can I make it work with IE?
I have a combination of ItemNo and LotNo value.
Example :
ItemNo: I123
LotNo : L12345
Barcode Value is: "I123L12345"
I want to put the value of ItemNo to txtItemNo.Text and LotNo to txtLotNo.Text
How can I instruct the barcode to do Carriage Return or Enter so that I can be able to input 2 values on one Barcode scan.
My barcode supports CODE 128, CODE 3of9 and CODE 93.
Thanks in advance.
I am using 3.5 framework of VB.NET 2008.
I have some textboxes in my form. I want the tab like behavior when my user presses ENTER on one of my textboxes. I used the following Code:
Private Sub txtDiscount_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles txtDiscount.KeyPress
If e.KeyChar = Microsoft.VisualBasic.ChrW(Keys.Return) Then
SendKeys.Send("{TAB}")
e.Handled = True
End If
End Sub

Please give me a solution.
I am trying to make an interactive shell script in perl.
The only user input I can find is the following:
$name = <STDIN>;
print STDOUT "Hello $name\n";
But in this the user must always press enter for the changes to take effect.
How can I get the program to proceed immediately after a button has been pressed?
I have a form with a disabled submit button. Even though the user can't press this button, he can still hit Enter to submit the form. How do I prevent that?
In order to transfer text from one textbox to another, I have created a submit button. However it would be preferable to use the functionality of the 'enter' key.
I am not sure but i think the ascii code is 13.Anyway how do I go about this task at hand?
I am trying to add the onkeydown attribute to an asp:textbox. For some reason my code can't find the textbox that is inside a loginview.
Am I doing something wrong?
<script type="text/javascript">
window.onload = function() {
UserName.Attributes.Add("onKeyDown", "KeyDownHandler('" + btn.ClientID + "')");
Password.Attributes.Add("onKeyDown", "KeyDownHandler('" + btn.ClientID + "')");
}
function KeyDownHandler(btn)
{
if (event.keyCode == 13)
{
event.returnValue=false;
event.cancel = true;
document.getElementById(btn).click();
}
}
</script>
I've been looking all over for a simple example of how to have an action (or button) be triggered when the enter key is hit in the text field.
Should I subclass the text field? Would I need to set a delegate to call the action I need? Is there a way to catch the event in my main window controller class?
If you could even just point me to the right direction that would be great. Thanks.
if user enter string value in the textbox and press button, i should see error message in label about entered string value.. How can i do that? and what is the code?

Hi, not necessarily a programmer question but I need to enter a TAB after every 84th character of a text. I'm trying to do it in InDesign but I don’t see an option for this. Is there a good application to do this?
Preferably Mac OS X compatlible but Windows XP is fine too.
Thank you very much!
I need to convert Keys.Enter to a char.
This does not work in compact framework: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2518749/convert-sequence-of-system-windows-forms-keys-to-a-char (KeyInterop.VirtualKeyFromKey)
Any one have any other ideas?
I have a textarea that when a users pressed enter/return on their keyboard, I want to submit the field to a JavaScript function, just like it works on Twitter.
Ideas?
Thanks
How can I display the graphical "enter symbol" within java applet using fonts?
I want to show "?", which is U+21B5 DOWNWARDS ARROW WITH CORNER LEFTWARDS. –
I want to draw this to applet's screen so that it works in WIN, LINUX, MACOSX, etc.
Is there a font available that makes this possible or should I draw it manually somehow?
g2d.setFont("SymbolFont??which one");
g2d.drawString(myenterSymbolHere,x,Y);
I created a movable panel in WinForms. I use a ToolStrip as a titlebar in the panel. I'll use the ToolStrip to move the panel as well as indicating the panel is "active" or not. So when the panel is active, I want to change the ToolStrip's BackColor to Red.
The idea is capturing ToolStrip's Enter/Leave event to change the color, but it seems those events are never fired.
Are those events truly never fired? Should I capture other events?
I have made a Silverlight application which can read data from various URLs.
So users of the application who control a website can:
FTP text and XML files onto their website
put a clientaccesspolicy.xml in their root directory
enter their URL in the silverlight application
at which point the silverlight application then begins reading data from their site.
I would like to extend this to less technical users who do not control a website, aren't adept with FTP, etc.
What is the best service on the web that:
allows users to publish different kinds of data, e.g. put out text files on web
allows Silverlight client access (has clientaccesspolicy.xml set up)
Some ideas are:
free blog services (although then they are limited to a RSS feed, or the silverlight app would have to do some screen scraping)
Google Docs?
free cloud services?
What free services allow easy publishing of any kind of data on the web and allow Silverlight client access?
Hello, I'm working on a soundboard, however I've got a problem when it come to drag the finger over the screen to play the sounds for the buttons I drag the finger over.
Button Button3 = (Button)findViewById(R.id.button03);
Button3.setOnTouchListener(new OnTouchListener() {
@Override
public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {
if(event.getAction() == MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN){
mp.playSound(3);
}
return false;
}
});
Do anyone know how I can detect when a finger enter a button and not click the button?
THanks :)
Hi all,
this is something that i don't want to program, but i was looking for a handy way of logging on to my web app.
i'm building (and testing and running) my webapp over and over again, and here i've been provided a strong password.
needless to say it's not so nice to enter my full user name + strong password 30 times a day.
is there a nifty tool which lives in the background and when i open page localhost/mytestpage.aspx, it will say: "hey, let me type in michel and sdfs%^%gfhg in these two textboxes"?
