  • Any pitfalls using char* instead of void* when writing cross platform code?

    - by UberMongoose
Is there any pitfalls when using char*'s to write cross platform code that does memory access? I'm working on a play memory allocator to better understand how to debug memmory issues. I have come to believe char*'s are preferable because of the ability to do pointer arithmetic and derefernce them over void*'s, is that true? Do the following assumptions always hold true on different common platforms? sizeof(char) == 1 sizeof(char*) == sizeof(void*) sizeof(char*) == sizeof(size_t)

  • What does “@public” mean in Objective-C?

    - by Ty
After reading a question on @private I understand how that works. However, since all variables default to @protected and you cannot really access a variable without defining an accessor, what exactly does @public do? When would you use it?

  • Where is SubSonicCentral for SubSonic 3.0

    - by silverfox1948
I used subsoniccentral for pre-building my access code using SubSonic 2.x. My site works in medium trust. I'd like to upgrade to 3.0, but when downloading the binaries and the source, I don't see anything related to subsoniccentral. Is it now deprecated? Or can I just use the old one with the new binaries?

  • Proper Form Application Design

    - by Soo
I'm creating a WinForm application in C# and one of its functions is displaying text in text boxes. I'm coding the logic for querying a database in a separate class and am unable to access the text box element in the class I'm creating (I'm getting a "name" does not exist in the current context error). Do I put all of my form logic into my Form1.cs file?

  • How to share javascript libraries in between components of my website (i.e. lightbox)

    - by Patrick
Can I share javascript libraries I've loaded in part of my website, with other components ? For example, I'm loading a node of my drupal website into a lightbox (rel="lightmodal"), so it is not a frame. I would like to have access from the content of the lightbox to qtip.js library (at the moment I'm using its functions but it doesn't find the library, so it doesn't work..) thanks

  • operator[][] C++

    - by bobobobo
I'd like to overload operator[][] to give internal access to a 2D array of char in C++. Right now I'm only overloading operator[], which goes something like class Object { char ** charMap ; char* operator[]( int row ) { return charMap[row] ; } } ; It works ok.. Is it possible to override operator[][] though?

  • NetUserAdd() to Remote Desktop Group?

    - by Brett Powell
Is there anyway to give a newly created user from NetUserAdd() remote desktop access and/or administrative rights? I know it is possible, at least for Remote Desktop, and I have been reading through the MSDN but nothing seems to hint at what is required to be set for it to work.
