  • Best practice for copying private instance vars with NSCopying

    - by Ben
I might be missing something obvious here, but I'm implementing NSCopying on one of my objects. That object has private instance variables that are not exposed via getters, as they shouldn't be used outside the object. In my implementation of copyWithZone:, I need alloc/init the new instance, but also set up its state to match the current instance. I can obviously access current private state from inside copyWithZone:, but I can't set it into the new object, because there are no accessors for that state. Is there a standard way around this while still keeping data privacy intact? Thanks.

  • Animating a font size change in a UITableView

    - by nickthedude
    Hey Simple little app for educational purposes, its a simple uitableview and I want users to be able to use a uislider to adjust the font size as needed. The code I have now works to change the font but only when the view is updated, ie when i pull up or down the table view to reveal other cells. I'd like the font change to be reflected immediately as a user moves the uislider if possible, here's the code that I have working half way: -(UITableViewCell *) tableView: (UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *) indexPath { static NSString *SimpleTableIdentifier = @"SimpleTableIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: SimpleTableIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier: SimpleTableIdentifier] autorelease]; NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; cell.text = [listData objectAtIndex:row]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"star.png"]; cell.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:[fontSlider value]]; cell.image = image; return cell; }

  • iphone/ipad adding adding and removing a subview doesnt work

    - by Mark
Im have a slight amount of trouble adding a new view to my scene, I have the code like this: - (void) showMyDayView { NSLog(@"My Day View was touched"); MyDayViewController *temp = [[MyDayViewController alloc] initWithNibName: @"MyDayView" bundle:nil]; self.myDayViewController = temp; NSLog(@"superview: %@", [[self mainNavView] superview]); [[self mainNavView] removeFromSuperview]; NSLog(@"after removal main: %@", [self mainNavView]); NSLog(@"after removal view: %@", [self view]); NSLog(@"after removal superview: %@", [[self view] superview]); [[[self view] superview] addSubview: [self.myDayViewController view]]; [temp release]; } And when I run this code, the console says "after removal superview: (null)" so when I add the subView to the superview, nothing happens because the superview is null. Any ideas? Thanks Mark

  • Sometimes UIImageView seems to reject the image taken with iPhone Camera

    - by maxbareis
Hi, it is very strange, because this error doesn't happen all the time... I have the following code: - (IBAction)getPhoto:(id)sender { UIImagePickerController * picker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.delegate = self; #if TARGET_IPHONE_SIMULATOR picker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; #else picker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; #endif [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; } with the corresponding delegated selector - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { UIImage *image = [[info objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage"] imageByScalingToSize:CGSizeMake(480, 320)]; [[self imageView] setImage:image]; [picker dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } strange thing is, somtimes the image appears in imageView and sometimes not. I have called (gdb) po UIImagePNGRepresentation(image) right after setImage and stuffed the output into a file. The file is a perfect png. Has anyone experienced the same? Has anyone found a solution for it? Thanks in advance Max

  • How do I add artwork to an iTunes track with obj-c AppleScript?

    - by demonslayer319
aTrack is an ITReference* object, value is an NSImage* object, initialized via a URL to a jpeg. [[[[[aTrack artworks] data_] set] to:value] send]; I get the following message in GDB: 2010-03-09 16:59:42.860 Sandbox[2260:a0f] Can't pack object of class NSImage (unsupported type): <NSImage 0x10054a440 Size={0, 0} Reps=( I then tried the following code: NSData *imageData = [[NSData alloc] initWithData:[value TIFFRepresentation]]; [[[[[aTrack artworks] data_] set] to:imageData] send]; and get this message instead 2010-03-09 16:46:09.341 Sandbox[2193:a0f] Can't pack object of class NSConcreteData (unsupported type): <4d4d002a 00000000> In the AppleScript documentation, it says that the "data" property of the "artwork" item is a PICTPicture image. How do I convert an NSImage to a PICT? Am I using the AppleScript all wrong?

  • remove ViewController from memory

    - by user262325
hello everyone I hope to load an ViewController and do something then unload it from memory. if (self.vViewController5.view.superview==nil) { ViewController5 *blueController = [[ViewController5 alloc] initWithNibName:@"View5" bundle:nil]; self.vViewController5 = blueController; [self.vViewController5 setDelegate:self]; [blueController release]; } [self presentModalViewController:vViewController5 animated:YES]; later, call [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; but I found that dismissModalViewControllerAnimated does not trigger the event viewDidUnload of Viewcontroller5. I try function release but it caused program collapse. I also try removeFromSuperView but it does not trigger the event ViewDidUnload neither. Welcome any comment Thanks interdev

  • Memory problem with basic UITableView when scrolling

    - by Sheehan Alam
I have a very simple UITableView that has 3 sections, and 3 rows per section. #pragma mark - #pragma mark UITableView delegate methods - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tblView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return 3; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tblView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tblView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Configure the cell... return cell; } - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tblView { if (tblView == self.tableView) { return 3; } else { return 1; } } Everything shows up fine, but as soon as I scroll my application crashes and my debugger tells me: * -[ProfileViewController tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath:]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x5ae61b0 I'm not exactly sure what I am doing wrong.

  • Cocoa touch SDK 3.2 - How to play video

    - by teepusink
Hi, How do I play video on SDK 3.2 (iPad)? Read many questions here but they talked mostly for iPhone. For example, the MoviePlayer example here http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/samplecode/MoviePlayer_iPhone/Introduction/Intro.html That works on 3.1.3 but when I run it on 3.2, it doesn't work. So basically I'm able to play a video on 3.1.3 using this code but the same code won't run on 3.2 NSString *moviePath = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"Movie.mp4"]; MPMoviePlayerController *moviePlayer = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:moviePath]]; moviePlayer.movieControlMode = MPMovieControlModeDefault; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(movieFinishedCallback:) name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification object:moviePlayer]; [moviePlayer play]; Thanks, Tee

  • UITableViewCell repeating problem

    - by cannyboy
I have a UItableview with cells. Some cells have uilabels and some have uibuttons. The UIbuttons are created whenever the first character in an array is "^". However, the uibuttons repeat when i scroll down (appearing over the uilabel).. and then multiply over the uilabels when I scroll up. Any clues why? My voluminous code is below: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { const NSInteger LABEL_TAG = 1001; UILabel *label; UIButton *linkButton; //NSString *linkString; static NSString *CellIdentifier; UITableViewCell *cell; CellIdentifier = @"TableCell"; cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; In landscape mode the right hand pane of the UISplitViewController completely disappears.

  • Show UIAlertView that is same as UIRemoteNotification when app is running in foreground

    - by Sidwyn Koh
I understand that we can handle push notifications via the method: - (void)application:(UIApplication *)application didReceiveRemoteNotification:(NSDictionary *)userInfo and we can check if the app was running in the foreground: if (application.applicationState == UIApplicationStateActive ) { ... } How do we show the exact same notification with localisation? NSString *message = [[[userInfo valueForKey:@"aps"] valueForKey:@"alert"] valueForKey:@"loc-key"]; NSString *trueMessage = NSLocalizedString(message, nil); UIAlertView *alertView = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Alert" message:trueMessage cancelButtonItem:@"OK" otherButtonItems:@"Show", nil]; [alertView show]; This shows the raw unlocalized text, e.g. "You have a new alert from %1@ on %2@." My question is, how can we place the loc-args inside the UIAlertView as well, when the app is running in the foreground?

  • iPhone modal view inside another modal view?

    - by Rick
    My App uses a modal view when users add a new foo. The user selects a foo type using this modal view. Depending on what type is selected, the user needs to be asked for more information. I'd like to use another modal view to ask for this extra information. I've tried to create the new modal view like the first one (which works great) and it leads to stack overflow/“Loading Stack Frames” error in Xcode. Am I going about this in completely the wrong way i.e. is this just a really bad idea? Should I rethink the UI itself? UINavigationController *navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:addController]; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES];

  • touches event handler for UIImageView

    - by madmik3
I am just getting stated with iPhone development and can't seem to find the answer I am looking for what I want to do. It seems like I should be able to programmatically create a UIImageView and then set up an event handler for it's touch functions. in c# i would have something that looks like Button b = new Button(); b.Click+= my handler code right now I have this CGRect myImageRect = CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 141.0f, 151.0f); UIImageView *myImage = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:myImageRect]; myImage.userInteractionEnabled = YES; [myImage setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]]; myImage.opaque = YES; // explicitly opaque for performance [self.view addSubview:myImage]; [myImage release]; What do I need to do to override the touch events? thanks

  • Items mixed up after scrolling in UITableView

When I scroll in my UITableView, the cells become mixed up. What am I doing wrong? • UITableViewCell is 1px shorter in didSelectRowAtIndexPath than cellForRowAtIndexPath

    - by Calvin L
I have a UITableViewCell that I create in tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath:. In that method I call: UITableViewCell *cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:nil] autorelease]; NSLog(@"Cell height: %f", cell.contentView.frame.size.height); This gives me a return value of 44.000000. Then in my tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath: method, I call: UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath: indexPath]; NSLog(@"Cell height: %f", cell.contentView.frame.size.height); And this gives me a return value of 43.000000. Aren't they the same cell? What gives?

  • iphone - passing an object on an UIToolbarButton action

    - by Mike
Is that possible to make a UIToolbarButton pass an object to its target by using some exoteric method (as it seems not to be possible using regular button use)? I mean something like UIBarButtonItem *Button = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithImage:buttonImage style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:@selector(doSomething:) **withObject:usingThis**]; I know I can trigger a method that will launch the full method with the object, but for the sake of elegance I was trying to minimize the code... I suspect it is not possible, but as you guys out there are insanely good you may come with an transcendental answer... who knows...
