After installing PHP 5.3, Windows is unable to start Apache 2.2. Apache's error log is empty, no error message on startup:

Errors reported here must be corrected before the service can be started.
I have no clue where to look for the cause. php5apache2_2.dll is copied to the Apache modules folder.

Where and how can I start diagnosis? The only hint I have so far is that startup fails as soon as a PHP module is enabled in the configuration. Is there a way to get more details out of the Apache startup process?
