• Do I need to recreate statistics if I had to drop them to add a foreign key

  I have a database which had all it's foreign-key relationships dropped at some unknown time in the past (don't ask). I have an old copy of the database which isn't good to restore from, but the schema has the relationships. I'm working from that to create a script to restore the keys. In updating the tables, I've had to drop statistics from several tables. Do I need to manually recreate those, or can I just run the statistics update procedure when all the tables are updated?

• How can I start an off PC remotely?

  I am using Team Viewer to control my PCs remotely. It lets me restart my PC, and this is a good feature. Is it possible to remotely start a PC which is already turned off? Maybe it's impossible but I like to ask Superusers. All I can think of is something like sending a signal to PC's BIOS. Assume that all components of PC is connected to electrical socket and the router is on.

• Why does SOS update a file to a previous revision?

  This question is about the SOS version control system: I have a file that always updates back to revision 1. For instance, to check out the latest revision I have to specifically ask for that revision. I have checked in several revisions up to revision 5. However, everytime I do an SOS update, it reloads revision 1. How can I request that the file updates to the latest revision rather than an older one?

• On demand upload server

  I'm looking for a simple application which will do something like Allow user to sign up for an ftp account -> ask admin for approval -> create ftp account for that user now it doesn't have to be FTP, in fact I would be happy with a web based tool which supported upload via some sort of java applet or something similar. I don't care about what platform it runs on, although if we could avoid PHP that would be cool. Any ideas?

  At work and home, I use Server 2003 with Windows Shares. We also have a couple of Netgear ReadyNAS appliances at work, managed via the web interface. Is there a built-in Web Interface for managing Shares, or a free one available - for use in Server 2003 (or 2008)? The reason I ask is that it would be good to manage the Shares via the Web, rather then RDP onto the Server each time - and would allow other users to treat it as a NAS.

  Hi, I am generating a report as a web page 3MB, I am a newbie, I am not sure why it is slow: the size is big the upload internet is slow the server is slow the browser is taking long time to process the cleint code (Jquery, javascript) please ask me questions, so I can explain more,??? • How do I get Outlook to auto fill information

I'd like to setup outlook to just ask me for the case number, fill it in the appropriate place in the body and subject of the email and then send it to a preset list of recipients (it's a static list of people).   I have a small batch file which xcopies some files from one folder to another which I've scheduled (via windows scheduled tasks) to run every 1 hour: @echo off xcopy c:\foo c:\bar /E /C /F /Y Since this is my workstation, I'm most probably doing work when the task executes, and then the black dos console window is displayed (lasts 2-3 seconds) and steals window focus. I don't wish to see the files copied and of course the batch file does not ask for any user input. Is there a way to avoid displaying the console completely?

I want to inspect those files when the apps are closed in the event of a system shutdown. However, when the system comes up again I find that all temporary files have been deleted. How can I ask the system not to clear the files in /tmp/ on shutdown?
