Is their a way on Mac OS X to sync a folder on my computer with Google Documents now that Docs supports all file types?
A lot like the functionality of DropBox.
If I mistype a URL, Chrome sometimes redirects me to a search. For instance, typing "example_url_i_sometimes_mistype.conm" into the location bar gets me:
Your search - example_url_i_sometimes_mistype.conm - did not match any
documents.
Not only is this annoying, but if the mistyped URL was one on private DNS, I've now just told Google that the domain exists. (A small concern, but bad in principle.)
Can I configure Chrome to just show an error and not blab to Google Search about it?
Hello
All of the question I would like to ask is pretty much contained in the title...
I have a couple Truecrypt-encrypted folders on OS X, where I keep some .tex documents I edit in TeXShop, and the question is: does TexShop 'bleed' information? Does it store temporary files anywhere else on the system? Filenames, filecontents etc.
Cheers!
Does Word Viewer 2007 exists (with new Ribbon interface)?
I ask this because only thing I found so far is Word Viewer 2007 as a Viewer 2003 with compatibility packs (which looks like standad Office 2003), but that doesn't works very well for mydocuments.
Thanks
can anyone provide me with the dumps and useful documents for sun solaris SA-200 S10 and SA-202 S10. Please mail me with the latest dumps on my ID: [email protected]

So this is the deal. A couple of days ago I moved my profile folder C:\Documents and Settings\fmunoz to a different drive D:\fmunoz. Today, I created a directory in my desktop using the point-and-click method:
Right-click on an empty space in the desktop
Select New
Select Folder
Leave the default name New Folder and press Enter
I tried to delete the folder using the point-and-click method:
Right-click the New Folder directory
Select Delete
After five seconds, I got the following message:
---------------------------
Error Deleting File or Folder
---------------------------
Cannot delete New Folder: Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use.
---------------------------
Initially I thought that there must be some sort of indexing services locking the directory so I got a list of open files using the TuneUp Process Manager tool but the New Folder directory wasn't there.
I double-clicked My Computer, navigated to the desktop directory C:\Documents and Settings\fmunoz\Destkop, tried to delete the New Folder directory using the same point-and-click method described above and got exactly the same message at the same amount of time.
In the same window, I navigated to the actual location of the desktop directory D:\fmunoz\Desktop, tried to delete the New Folder directory and this time it worked.
I thought that this behavior was due to some special treatment that Windows gives to the desktop or the profile directories so I tried doing the same thing with a different set of directories:
Created a folder D:\dummy
Created a junction C:\dummy pointing to D:\dummy
Created a New Folder directory in C:\dummy
Tried to delete New Folder from C:\dummy. Didn't work.
Tried to delete New Folder from D:\dummy. It worked.
I tried creating the folder in the actual directory rather than the junction directory:
Created a New Folder directory in D:\dummy
Tried to delete New Folder from C:\dummy. Didn't work.
Tried to delete New Folder from D:\dummy. It worked.
I also tried using the Delete button instead of using the Delete option of the context menu but it didn't work.
When using the Shift+Delete sequence, it works. It also works by using the rd command in the console, but in both cases the deleted directory doesn't goes to the Recycle Bin, which is my intention when using the Delete context menu option or the Delete button.
Hi, I am testing Knowledge Tree (Bitnami package) and so far so good. But, looks like the indexing feature is not enabled by default. I can´t do searches within the contents of uploaded pdf files or office documents.
Thanks in advance for any answer.
Hi,
A user deleted his documents from his laptop somehow and has no backup available. How would one go on his way to recover these deleted files. I have zero experience on this issue.
Are there any open source or freeware tools that I can use to attempt a recovery of these files.
Thanks
Hi,
I have an old hard disk enclosed in a USB HDD caddy. I want to access G:\Documents and Settings(username).
It gives me the error Access is Denied.
The username is the same as my current windows username, and so is the password.
What do I need to do to access it?
Thanks,
Steve

Is there a way to set the default location of the windows explorer window when you open it?
For example whenever i open windows explorer i want it to open on the 'MyDocuments' folder.
I'm looking for software (free or paid) that could perform a weekly automatic backup to an outside server via FTP.
I've looked around and all I seem to be finding is either garbage shareware or free tools that are no longer supported. The system will be backing up from a Windows 7 desktop system to a Linux CentOS 5 server.
Can someone direct me to a stable, reliable piece of software? This is for business documents so reliability is key.
I'd like to change the keyboard mapping from command-line (Terminal) in Mac OS X Lion (10.7).
I can manually set it (System Preferences - Language & Text - Input Sources), and there's a nice option that lets me use different input sources for different documents, but I'd like to bind it to a key under zsh to easily swap between Qwerty and Dvorak layouts (I'm learning Dvorak, and having the option to switch easily would be sensational).
The only thing I need indexed in the /Applications folder are the .app files.
Is there any way to setup a filter to have mds or Spotlight ignore everything in /Applications except .apps?
Otherwise, would it be possible to setup a rule for Alfred to omit any non-.app records from /Applications? I still want documents indexed and returned, just not from that specific directory.
OS X 10.6.8 if you're wondering.
I am looking to move a file share (100 GB or so) from one domain/server to a new domain and server. I would like to do this with little to no downtime and if possible I would like to be able to map permissions from the groups/users in the current system to groups/users in the new domain.
A side question, a large number of the files in the system are office documents with hard links to the old file server. Any way to programmatically change all those links to the new file server?
How do I set OpenOffice's default font and layout? I have a font that I want it to use when I create a new document. In addition, I want new documents to appear as Web Layout.
I'm running OpenOffice.org 3.2.0 on OS X.
I have several ClarisWorks documents (*.CWK) that I'd like to import into a more modern format like Microsoft Word or Open Office. It seems Star Office can apparently open cwk files, but the product is discontinued and cannot be downloaded any more. There has been a feature request to add a cwk importer to OpenOffice since 2002, so I doubt that OpenOffice will support cwk files any time soon.
Are there any utilities that can open a cwk file besides ClarisWorks itself?
I have a question about domain joining workstations. We just upgraded Exchange and AD to a new server. I want to know how I join these old workstations to the new domain controller and preserve all the users documents etc.
In other words I don't want to create another user account on the workstations.
Thanks for all your help.
what's the best way to manage a large amount of documents? (word,ppt,pdf...) when windows explorer is not sufficient? preferably desktop based solution
What is the recommended size for a server 2008 system partition? I've seen 20GB as well as 49GB suggested but I can't seem to find any white papers or best-practices documents on the subject.
Windows (all versions) folders have their standard names such as Users, Documents, Local Settings etc that are unfortunately translated in other language versions, and thus instead of the names that are in the path to the folder they appear in the file explorer under quite different names. For example, instead Pictures I get "Moje obrazy" (translation into Polish language), and yet in the path it is still "pictures".
This is very confusing and I would like to turn this automatic translation off, but can't find how.
I understand I'll need to re-install all the applications, but will upgrading from Windows XP (32 bit) to Windows 7 (64 bit) automatically format my hard drive removing out all my stuff? Or I'll just need to install all the appls but my files (like pictures and documents) will remain on that hard drive? (Trying to figure out if I really need to get 500GB spare space anywhere to copy my data temporarily to.)
PDF documents have hyperlinks to the contents on the same document (analogous to "#section" hrefs for an HTML document). Where's the back button to go back to the page I was on (where I clicked the hyperlink).
Let's say I'm on the index of a PDF tutorial, page 4, and I click on Chapter 2's hyperlink in the index that takes me to page 38. Now, if I want to go back to page 4 again, which button or shortcut should I use?
I want my Windows XP profile directory (C:\Documents and Settings\) to be versioned, like with Vista Shadow Copies.
What's the best way to accomplish this? Would putting the whole thing under a DVCS like Bazaar or Git be a good way to go? Which one would be best?
I have a word 2007 document that is now 7MB in size that is being edited by many folks. I would like to figure out which of the many images in the document is the 'culprit'. My hunch is likely one or two of them is a bitmap or some other large image.
In smaller documents when this is happened I can do it by trial and error:
Remove an Image
Save the File
Check File size
repeat
Is there a more elegant solution to this issue?
I just discovered that if Windows Explorer is unpinned from my taskbar it displays the icon of the currently active folder. This is what I see if it's pinned
But if it's unpinned I see the current icon.
Downloads:
Documents:
C:
I really like seeing the "correct" icon, and I've noticed this also applies to other programs that have varying icons.
Is there a way I can have explorer pinned, but to see the icons as though it's unpinned?
