  • CodeIgniter Active Record Queries W/ Sub Queries

    - by Mike
Question: I really am trying to stick to using ActiveRecord and not using straight SQL.. can someone help me convert this to activerecord? Trying to get the email address and contact name from another table. map_userfields table is a one to many, multiple rows per p.id. one row per p.id per uf.fieldid. see this screenshot for a reference to the map_userfields table: Current Non active record query SELECT p.id, (SELECT uf.fieldvalue FROM map_userfields uf WHERE uf.pointid = p.id AND uf.fieldid = 20) As ContactName, (SELECT uf.fieldvalue FROM map_userfields uf WHERE uf.pointid = p.id AND uf.fieldid = 31) As ContactEmail FROM map_points p WHERE /** $pointCategory is an array of categories to look for **/ p.type IN($pointCategory) Note: I am using CodeIgniter 2.1.x, MySQL 5.x, php 5.3

  • Does ASP.NET Make Request Scheduling Decisions Based Upon SessionID?

    - by Mike Murphy
I know that a properly implemented SessionStateStoreProvider maintains an exclusive lock on session data for the duration of a request. However, considering that multiple requests could arrive simultaneously (e.g. via IFRAMEs) all but one would be able to make forward progress. All the other requests would block for a bit and reduce the number of worker threads available during that time. It seems if ASP.NET "peeked" at the session IDs on the requests early on, it could avoid running requests simultaneously that were on the same session. This would improve throughput under load for pages that didn't want to give up using IFRAMEs. This seems plausible enough that it might be true.

  • Batch convert Malformed PDFs to TIF on Linux

    - by Mike Driscoll
I need to convert a multipage PDF to TIF, but it appears to be a malformed PDF provided by our client. I tried using ImageMagick and GhostScript, but they do not convert the file correctly. The result is only about 85-90% correct. The only thing I've found that appears to do the job is GIMP, but I can't find an example to use it via its Batch Processing methods for PDFs. • Using Generics to return a literal string or from Dictionary<string, object>

    - by Mike
I think I outsmarted myself this time. Feel free to edit the title also I could not think of a good one. I am reading from a file and then in that file will be a string because its like an xml file. But in the file will be a literal value or a "command" to get the value from the workContainer so <Email>[email protected]</Email> or <Email>[? MyEmail ?]</Email> What I wanted to do instead of writing ifs all over the place to put it in a generic function so logic is If Container command grab from container else grab string and convert to desired type Its up to the user to ensure the file is ok and the type is correct so another example is so <Answer>3</Answer> or <Answer>[? NumberOfSales ?]</Answer> This is the procedure I started to work on public class WorkContainer:Dictionary<string, object> { public T GetKeyValue<T>(string Parameter) { if (Parameter.StartsWith("[? ")) { string key = Parameter.Replace("[? ", "").Replace(" ?]", ""); if (this.ContainsKey(key)) { return (T)this[key]; } else { // may throw error for value types return default(T); } } else { // Does not Compile if (typeof(T) is string) { return Parameter } // OR return (T)Parameter } } } The Call would be mail.To = container.GetKeyValue<string>("[email protected]"); or mail.To = container.GetKeyValue<string>("[? MyEmail ?]"); int answer = container.GetKeyValue<int>("3"); or answer = container.GetKeyValue<int>("[? NumberOfSales ?]"); But it does not compile?

  • How do I access the ASP.NET Configuration Tool when a site is live? This is ASP.NET MVC.

    - by Mike Marks
I was wondering if it's possible to access the ASP.NET Configuration Tool once a site is live. To be able to create and edit users and roles is obviously very important, and from what I've been reading, once a site is deployed, the Configuration Tool is no longer accessible. If this is the case, HOW do I add users, etc.? By the way, I found a User Management plugin which brings a lot of the Configuration Tool's capabilities to the front end of a User Management section of the deployed website, but it DOES NOT offer the capability to add a new user. Help??? Thanks!!

  • Perl, time efficient hash

    - by Mike
Is it possible to use a Perl hash in a manner that has O(log(n)) lookup and insertion? By default, I assume the lookup is O(n) since it's represented by an unsorted list. I know I could create a data structure to satisfy this (ie, a tree, etc) however, it would be nicer if it was built in and could be used as a normal hash (ie, with %)

  • innerHTML yielding undefined, but correct data is visible

    - by Mike Dyer
var Model, node; document.getElementById('sedans').innerHTML=''; var thismodelabbr, prevmodelabbr; for(var j=0; j<xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('data').length; j++){ node = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('data')[j]; thismodelabbr=node.getAttribute('model'); if(prevmodelabbr!=thismodelabbr){ Model+='<a href="">'+ node.getAttribute('model')+'</a>'; } prevmodelabbr=thismodelabbr; document.getElementById('sedans').innerHTML=Model; } The above javascript snippet is working correctly and as needed, but I'm getting an "Undefined" response before the entry is displayed within its respective page. I'm assuming it has to do with the .innerHTML call. Any insight would be deeply appreciated.

  • CSS of iFramed page not being applied properly

    - by Mike E.
My company has purchased a third-party package with a built-in customer facing web portal, and I'm being tasked with integrating it into our site. Unfortunately, the web portal does not look great, and we have absolutely no control over how it looks (other than asking the vendor for changes - $$). In order to make it look somewhat like the rest of our site, I've stuck it in an iFrame (I'm not thrilled about this either) to put our logo and top navigation on it. Please note, I am not attempting to manipulate the iframed page in any way. Firefox handles this just fine, but in IE7 and IE8, not all of the CSS is being applied properly when the application's pages are displayed in the iFrame. Specifically, it should be applying a font-family of Arial to all TDs, but some text inside TDs are not being displayed as Arial. Any ideas as to what is going on? This only happens when the pages are viewed inside the iFrame. Outside the iFrame, the CSS is applied as it should be. I'm guessing we're going to have to get our vendor to make some changes, but I'd love to know why the iFrame is impacting the page like this. Thanks!

  • Treeview Slow in IE?!?!

    - by Mike
I have a treeview with around 200 records that needs to be fully expanded at all times (so no loading on demand). It is inside of an update panel with the updatemode set to conditional. There are other update panels on the page as well that are set to conditional. Depending on user actions the tree may need to be rebuilt by calling databind and updating the updatepanel. Everything works fine in firefox, longest postback about 2 seconds. With IE I have to wait up to 30 seconds sometimes and the action may have nothing to do with the tree just changing a dropdown in its own updatepanel takes forever. I have considered the size of viewstate and just raw HTML generated may be causing the delay but wouldn't that effect both browsers? Anyone have anyideas what is making it so slow in IE??? Thanks!

  • How Best to Replace Ugly Queries and Dynamic PL/SQL with C#?

    - by Mike
Hi, I write a lot of one-off Oracle SQL queries (in Toad), and sometimes they can get complex, involving lots of unions, joins, and subqueries, and sometimes requiring dynamic SQL. That is, sometimes SQL queries require set based processing along with significant procedural processing. This is what PL/SQL is custom made for, but as a language it does not begin to compare to C#. Now and then I convert a PL/SQL procedure to C#, and am always amazed at how much cleaner and easier to both read and write the C# version is. The C# program might for example construct a SQL query string piece by piece and/or run several queries and process them as needed. The C# version is usually much faster as well, which must mean that I'm not very good at PL/SQL either. I do not currently have access to LINQ. My question is, how best to package all these little C# programs, which are really just mini reports, that is, replacements for ugly SQL queries? Right now I'm actually using NUnit to hold them, and calling each report a [Test], even though they aren't really tests. NUnit just happens to provide a convenient packaging framework.

  • J2SE Client Server App: Client calls RMI method. Server handles RMI method and returns, but Client

    - by Mike
J2SE Client Server App: Client calls RMI message. Server handles RMI method and returns, but Client never receives it. Any ideas how this could happen? Our attempted solution is to set client read timeouts and come up with a framework for resending requests or otherwise handling those failures gracefully. But really, I'd like to know any root causes for how this might happen rather than addressing the symptoms.

  • In C# is there a function that correlates sequential values on a IEnumerable

    - by Mike Q
Hi all, I have a IEnumerable. I have a custom Interval class which just has two DateTimes inside it. I want to convert the IEnumerable to IEnumerable where n DateTimes would enumerate to n-1 Intervals. So if I had 1st Jan, 1st Feb and 1st Mar as the DateTime then I want two intervals out, 1st Jan/1st Feb and 1st Feb/1st March. Is there an existing C# Linq function that does this. Something like the below Correlate... IEnumerable<Interval> intervals = dttms.Correlate<DateTime, Interval>((dttm1, dttm2) => new Interval(dttm1, dttm2)); If not I'll just roll my own.

  • pass custom environment variables to System.Diagnostics.Process

    - by Mike Ruhlin
I'm working on an app that invokes external processes like so: ProcessStartInfo startInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(PathToExecutable, Arguments){ ErrorDialog = false, RedirectStandardError = true, RedirectStandardOutput = true, UseShellExecute = false, CreateNoWindow = true, WorkingDirectory = WorkingDirectory }; using (Process process = new Process()) { process.StartInfo = startInfo; process.Start(); process.BeginErrorReadLine(); process.BeginOutputReadLine(); process.WaitForExit(); return process.ExitCode; } One of the processes I'm calling depends on an environment variable that I'd rather not require my users to set. Is there any way to modify the environment variables that get sent to the external process? Ideally I'd be able to make them visible only to the process that's running, but if I have to programmatically set them system-wide, I'll settle for that (but, would UAC force me to run as administrator to do that?) ProcessStartInfo.EnvironmentVariables is read only, so a lot of help that is...

  • Problems getting PowerPoint Combobox to list items correctly

    - by mike toyn
I am creating a PowerPoint in which I want users to be able to select an item from a list in a combo box. Nothing needs to happen after this, it is just to provide a record, on screen, of their choice. My problem is that I seem to either be able to populate the combo box and users can select an item but the list gets longer each time the combobox is clicked on (i.e each time it is clicked on the list gets duplicated). Or alternatively, I can clear the combo box, then populate it but in this scenario, the users choice also seems to get cleared. VBA example 1: Private Sub ComboBox1_DropButtonClick() With ComboBox1 .AddItem " ", 0 .AddItem "speed", 1 .AddItem "provisionality", 2 .AddItem "automation", 3 .AddItem "replication", 4 .AddItem "communicability", 5 .AddItem "multi-modality", 6 .AddItem "non-linearity", 7 .AddItem "capacity", 8 .AddItem "interactivity", 9 End With End Sub VBA example 2: Private Sub ComboBox1_DropButtonClick() ComboBox1.Clear With ComboBox1 .AddItem " ", 0 .AddItem "speed", 1 .AddItem "provisionality", 2 .AddItem "automation", 3 .AddItem "replication", 4 .AddItem "communicability", 5 .AddItem "multi-modality", 6 .AddItem "non-linearity", 7 .AddItem "capacity", 8 .AddItem "interactivity", 9 End With End Sub Can anyone help?

  • How can I determine the "correct" number of steps in a questionnaire where branching is used?

    - by Mike Kingscott
I have a potential maths / formula / algorithm question which I would like help on. I've written a questionnaire application in ASP.Net that takes people through a series of pages. I've introduced conditional processing, or branching, so that some pages can be skipped dependent on an answer, e.g. if you're over a certain age, you will skip the page that has Teen Music Choice and go straight to the Golden Oldies page. I wish to display how far along the questionnaire someone is (as a percentage). Let's say I have 10 pages to go through and my first answer takes me straight to page 9. Technically, I'm now 90% of the way through the questionnaire, but the user can think of themselves as being on page 2 of 3: the start page (with the branching question), page 9, then the end page (page 10). How can I show that I'm on 66% and not 90% when I'm on page 9 of 10? For further information, each Page can have a number of questions on that can have one or more conditions on them that will send the user to another page. By default, the next page will be the next one in the collection, but that can be over-ridden (e.g. entire sets of pages can be skipped). Any thoughts? :-s

  • Logging out of Facebook invalidates offline_access token

    - by Mike Pateras
I'm getting an offline access token like this: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?scope=offline_access&client_id=MYCLIENTID&redirect_uri=MYREDIRECTURI&client_secret=MYSECRET&code=MYCODE obviously the MYCLIENTID and stuff have been changed for the sake of this post. Anyway, as soon as the user logs out of facebook, the key seems to no longer be valid. Am I not requesting offline_access properly (there's still an "expires" value on it, should there be if it is actually getting offline access), or is that just how it works? If it's the latter, how can I get a key that will persist, regardless of if the user logs out of facebook? I'm sure this is possible, because Tweetdeck can still write to Facebook, even though I'm currently logged out.

  • Placeholder containing dynamic table is empty unless I create table twice

    - by Mike O.
I am dynamically creating a table that contains a textbox in each cell. The table is put in a placeholder control. Everything displays perfectly. The problem is when I go to retrieve the values entered in the cells. I have the code to generate the table in a separate method called CreateTable(). In order for my program to find a table in the placeholder when I go to save, I have to run CreateTable() in a postback event AND in the PageLoad event. If I call CreateTable() in only one of those places and I try to save, it says the placeholder is empty and, therefore, I cannot save the textbox contents. I've tried calling CreateTable() from InitLoad but that doesn't work because it needs to reference values from three static controls: 1 dropdown, 1 listbox, and 1 calendar control, which I don't believe have had their viewstate rendered yet. Anyone have any ideas? It would sure be nice not to have to double the number of database calls just to make this work.

  • Cannot debug tests using Resharper

    - by Mike
Hi, I'm not able to debug my tests using Resharper-Debug option in my project. I have seen this issue raised by lots of people, but has't come across a solid suggestion which solves my issue. The strange thing is that, if I create a sample project and write a simple unit test, I'm able to debug it without any issues. However when I try to do this in my current project, it simply throws a dialog box saying "Cannot Launch Debugger".I have checked this with my peers, and they does't face this issue :( Also I don't have any issues while running the test. It's an XP machine and following is the version of resharper: JetBrains ReSharper 5.1 C# Edition Build 5.1.1753.4 on 2010-10-15T15:51:30 Licensed to: XXXXXXX Plugins: none. Visual Studio 9.0.21022.8.
