One feature I miss from xp is the ability to hover over disks and quickly see their used/total space.
Can anyone let me know if this can be turned on in vista/7 or any other solutions?
I need a static IP address that handles SSL traffic from a known source (a partner). Our servers are behind an AWS Elastic Load Balancer (ELB), which cannot provide a static IP address; many threads about this here.
My thought is to create an instance in EC2 whose sole purpose in life is to be a reverse proxy server having it's own IP address; accepting HTTPS requests and forwarding them to the load balancer.
Are there better solutions?
I have a PSD for a website that must be sliced. I can not work in Win or OSX box(or a virtual machine).
What are the solutions for editing a PSD in Ubuntu 9.10?
Which one do you recommend?
Thank you.
I want to save a program's output (stdout) to a file but still be able to see the output on the screen in realtime.

I know Ghost and Clonezilla aren't able to build images of a system while the system is running(Without Rebooting). Haven't Checked on Acronis though, but i don't simpatize with private solutions.
Question: Is there a software solution which is able to build a "Live" image?
Would appreciate anwsers, since I'm one step away from building a Clonezilla test enviroment and this will just help on my decision.
Thank you.
I have tried using Multirow Bookmarks Toolbar Plus and Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar Firefox add-ons, but the problem is that they are constantly stressing my CPU (even when idling). It probably has something to do with version 11 of the browser. Anyway, is there some clean way to increase the height of the bookmarks toolbar?
I've read a lot of articles that refer to userChrome.css and I have tried a dozen solutions, but none worked because they were outdated. Please help me with this.
In other words, if I have a list with entries formatted "[Artist Name] - [Track Name]" without advanced knowledge of their corresponding YouTube URLs (if any exist), how might I script things so that YouTube searches for each entry, and generates the URLs for the first n number of identical or similar entries per a YouTube query? Do any simple solutions come to mind that might lever wget, PowerShell, or Python? Thanks!
We have acquired a new entity with their own AD/Exchange environment. Until they fully join our domain, we need to sync their exchange calendars or minimally free/busy for users. All users in the acquisition have a new account in our organization.
We have considered a number of options including CalDAV, but nothing seems to meet our needs.
Even a client solutions to update the NEW server with the free/busy would be workable.
I recently upgraded my main development laptop to Lucid. Lucid upgraded PHP to 5.3 and as I'm mainly a PHP developer, this has caused quite a few problems. What's the easiest way to revert back to the the 5.2 series? Googling hasn't found any good solutions.
is that even possible?
Summary, i'm running puppet master on a server and ideally we want root logins via ssh disabled, we want to force all access via sudo if root access required
however we have puppet installed using a git repo to manage the manifests, this repo is currently owned by root and currently i only know of 2 solutions
(less ideal) allow root access via key auth only - if so, what can i lock it down to to only allow the git push commands?
own the repo in /etc/puppet as a different owner - will puppet work reliably with this?
I need to connect my machine to a new domain soon. When I do so a new user profile will be created and I would like to copy all the settings/data from the old profile to the new one. This is a local profile only (no roaming). Running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
I found this previous question on the same topic, it however only seems to address Windows XP and the solutions do not seem to apply to Win7.
Hello,
I have a bunch of word forms filled in and I need to get that data to Excel / CSV / anything structured. I've seen solutions on web on how to do it one at a time but are there established methods on how to do it in batch?
I wanted to ask before writing a powershell script.
What is the cheapest solution to be able to remotely power cycle a regular 120V outlet via ethernet? I've seen solutions like iBoot, but they're really expensive. Is there a cheap way to remotely power cycle equipment?
I have a 6 channel WMA file and I would like to extract each of those 6 channels into its own mono WAV file. This is a simple task with AC-3 audio files, but apparently not with WMA. I could re-encode the WMA as an AC-3 then extract the streams, but I want lossless solution.
Please only confirmed solutions. I have put a lot of time into searching for a solution and have had my fill of "try this" and "this might work".
I am trying to implement winexit.scr in a windows terminal server. I want force logoff all "domain\domain users" from this server after 10 minutes through this. All these users along with domain admins login to this terminal server via Remote Desktop. I want to force logoff only for "domain\domain users" not for administrators and domain admin.
I have tried the solutions provided in different sites..but it's logoff administrators also.
Please help..thanks upfront.
Can we connect a LAPTOP to an external monitor ?
Here is my problem -
http://superuser.com/questions/120269/compaq-presario-laptop-monitor-problems
I want to buy a external monitor but the problem is that they come at huge cost and probably getting a new laptop or netbook seems wiser. So I am looking for cheap solutions .

I Installed wamp in windows 7 pro, and copied a joomla live site. Everything seems working well except that it doesn't load the images on the page.
Even when I try to access in directly:
localhost/logo.png
Im getting an 403 Forbidden:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /logo.png on this server.
Solutions I have tried are:
Using icacls to grant priviledge
Folder Permissions Issue in Windows 7
manually set the permission by right clicking the image and editing the security.
I realize this question was asked before here but none of the answers provided free, reliable solutions. Any suggestions on a good free app out there that does the trick?
Is there some tool within Opera, or possibly an add-on, which will let me take a screenshot of an entire web page? I usually use Screengrab to do this with Firefox, but in this situation I want a screenshot of the page as Opera renders it (because I want to show the page as rendered with HTML5 form controls like date and time).
I am currently using Opera 10.60 x86_64 on Fedora 12, so solutions that work in browser would be preferable rather than external programs.

Does anybody know a recipe manager for Windows 7 with a nice-looking GUI. I already peaked at BigOven and Rezkonv and the feature list is really impressive. Nevertheless the GUI of these recipe managers seems terrible to me compared to Mac solutions like MacGourmet.
Does anybody know a Windows recipe manager with an acceptable GUI?
I have the following in my Apache conf to get PHP-FPM working:
FastCgiExternalServer /srv/www/fast-cgi-fake-handler -host 127.0.0.1:9000
AddHandler php-fastcgi .php
AddType text/html .php
Action php-fastcgi /var/www/cgi-bin
Alias /var/www/cgi-bin /srv/www/fast-cgi-fake-handler
DirectoryIndex index.php
This works fine except that SCRIPT_NAME is always /var/www/cgi-bin and some scripts use SCRIPT_NAME to work out the location of the current script (vBulletin).
Google has plenty of solutions for Nginx but not a word for Apache.
