  • which scope should a DAO typically have.

    - by Andreas Petersson
    its out of question that a dao will not hold any state. however, for easiest access to the class, is it better to use prototype( = new every time) or singleton? simple object creation is cheap for dao's.. it typically only holds a sessionfactory, accessing the object from a list of singletons may be equally expensive. clarfication: the focus of this question is, if there is a common convention to the scoping of daos.

  • Enter Key for Login Form

    - by Andrew
    I have a search form and a login form on my website. When the enter button is pressed when the login form has focus, the search runs instead of the login. Is there a way to fix this? I've already tried using a panel around the login form and use defaultbutton, but the loginview errors when I do this.

  • WPF Listbox display next element after SelectedItem

    - by Daniil Harik
    I have TextBox and ListBox with bunch of elements. TextBox has KeyDown event handler, the idea behind this is to allow user to press up and down keys to scroll inside ListBox while focus is on TextBox. When user presses "down key" several times, selected element becomes last visible element on screen. If user has reached bottom of visible list element on screen, I want him to see next element after selected element as well.

  • WinApi equivalent of .NET KeyPreview

    - by user146780
    In .Net there is a feature called KeyPreview. How can I do this in WinApi. Maybe I don't necessarily need this but my hWnd has WM_KEYDOWN, but it does not receive it when my Text Box has focus. How can I achieve this? Thanks *Using pure Win32API... is there an alternative, how could I handle the Text Box's WM_KEYDOWN?

  • JavaScript accessing form elements using document.forms[].elements[]

    - by thecoshman
    var loc_name = document.forms['create_<?php echo(htmlspecialchars($window_ID)); ?>'].elements['location_name']; alert(loc_name); This just gives me the message 'undefined' where as... var loc_name = document.forms['create_<?php echo(htmlspecialchars($window_ID)); ?>']; alert(loc_name); Gives me the object form business. Have I just got this all wrong? What is the 'proper' way to access this form element. The form element has the correct name and it has an id, the id is similar but not the same. ** HTML - as reuqested ** <form action="javascript:void(0)" name="create_<?php echo(htmlspecialchars($window_ID)); ?>" method="GET" onsubmit="return false"> <td> <input type="text" id="location_name_<?php echo($window_ID); ?>" name="location_name" value="Enter a name" onfocus="if(this.value == 'Enter a name'){this.value = ''}" onblur="if(this.value == ''){ this.value = 'Enter a name' }" /> </td> <td colspan="2"> <input type="button" name="create_location" value="Create" onclick="var pre_row_was = $('#pre_form_row_<?php echo($window_ID); ?>').innerHTML; $('#pre_form_row_<?php echo($window_ID); ?>').innerHTML = '<td colspan=\'3\'>Validating...</td>'; var loc_name = document.forms['create_<?php echo(htmlspecialchars($window_ID)); ?>'].elements['location_name']; alert(loc_name); if(loc_name.value == '') { alert('You can\'t leave the room name blank'); loc_name.focus(); loc_name.value = 'Enter a name'; $('#pre_form_row_<?php echo($window_ID); ?>').innerHTML = pre_row_was; return false; } if(loc_name.value == 'Enter a name') { alert('You must enter a room name first'); loc_name.focus(); $('#pre_form_row_<?php echo($window_ID); ?>').innerHTML = pre_row_was; return false; } $('#pre_form_row_<?php echo($window_ID); ?>').innerHTML = pre_row_was; Window_manager.new_window().load_xml('location/create.php?location_name=' + loc_name.value).display();" /> </td> </form> ugly as sin that is...

  • Window z-ordering in java

    - by Aaron
    Is there a way to manage the window z-ordering of JDialog windows within java? I would like to able to assign each window to a layer such that windows on lower layers can never go above and obscure windows on higher layers. Even when they have focus. Similar to the Z-order capability that exists for components but for JDialog windows. The solution does not need to work across all OSes. A linux specific solution is acceptable.

  • How to keep an item selected? - ListView

    - by Dodi300
    Hello. I would like to keep an item selected, on a ListView, when the user clicks on a space which has no item. For example, the space below the items, but still on the ListView component. I've change the ListView property "HideSelection" to false, but that only works when the focus is changed to another component; not when the user clicks on the ListView itself. Thanks!

  • Do you know why introducing jquery ui autocomplete for my dropdown boxes is also changing my listbox

    - by oo
    I am trying to change my comboboxes to use autocomplete so i leverage the code listed here (which worked perfectly for my dropdowns) The issue is that i also on the same page have a listbox with the following code: <%= Html.ListBox("Cars", Model.BodyParts.Select( x => new SelectListItem { Text = x.Name, Value = x.Id, Selected = Model.CarsSelected.Any(y => y.Id == x.Id) } ))%> and it appears that the jquery ui code is changing this to a autocomplete dropdown as well (as opposed to keeping it as a multi select list box) any idea how to prevent this from happening? i literally am just using the exact code on this page <script type="text/javascript"> (function($) { $.widget("ui.combobox", { _create: function() { var self = this; var select = this.element.hide(); var input = $("<input>") .insertAfter(select) .autocomplete({ source: function(request, response) { var matcher = new RegExp(request.term, "i"); response(select.children("option").map(function() { var text = $(this).text(); if (!request.term || matcher.test(text)) return { id: $(this).val(), label: text.replace(new RegExp("(?![^&;]+;)(?!<[^<>]*)(" + request.term.replace(/([\^\$\(\)\[\]\{\}\*\.\+\?\|\\])/gi, "\\$1") + ")(?![^<>]*>)(?![^&;]+;)", "gi"), "<strong>$1</strong>"), value: text }; })); }, delay: 0, select: function(e, ui) { if (!ui.item) { // remove invalid value, as it didn't match anything $(this).val(""); return false; } $(this).focus(); select.val(ui.item.id); self._trigger("selected", null, { item: select.find("[value='" + ui.item.id + "']") }); }, minLength: 0 }) .addClass("ui-widget ui-widget-content ui-corner-left"); $("<button>&nbsp;</button>") .insertAfter(input) .button({ icons: { primary: "ui-icon-triangle-1-s" }, text: false }).removeClass("ui-corner-all") .addClass("ui-corner-right ui-button-icon") .position({ my: "left center", at: "right center", of: input, offset: "-1 0" }).css("top", "") .click(function() { // close if already visible if (input.autocomplete("widget").is(":visible")) { input.autocomplete("close"); return; } // pass empty string as value to search for, displaying all results input.autocomplete("search", ""); input.focus(); }); } }); })(jQuery); $(function() { $("select").combobox(); }); </script>

  • Is there a way to split a widescreen monitor in to two or more virtual monitors?

    - by Mike Thompson
    Like most developers I have grown to love dual monitors. I won't go into all the reasons for their goodness; just take it as a given. However, they are not perfect. You can never seem to line them up "just right". You always end up with the monitors at slight funny angles. And of course the bezel always gets in the way. And this is with identical monitors. The problem is much worse with different monitors -- VMWare's multi monitor feature won't even work with monitors of differnt resolutions. When you use multiple monnitors, one of them becomes your primary monitor of focus. Your focus may flip from one monitor to the other, but at any point in time you are usually focusing on only one monitor. There are exceptions to this (WinDiff, Excel), but this is generally the case. I suggest that having a single large monitor with all the benefits of multiple smaller monitors would be a better solution. Wide screen monitors are fantastic, but it is hard to use all the space efficiently. If you are writing code you are generally working on the left-hand side of the window. If you maximize an editor on a wide-screen monitor the right-hand side of the window will be a sea of white. Programs like WinSplit Revolution will help to organise your windows, but this is really just addressing the symptom, not the problem. Even with WinSplit Revolution, when you maximise a window it will take up the whole screen. You can't lock a window into a specific section of the screen. This is where virtual monitors comes in. What would be really nice is a video driver that sits on top of the existing driver, but allows a single monitor to be virtualised into multiple monitors. Control Panel would see your single physical monitor as two or more virtual monitors. The software could even support a virtual bezel to emphasise what is happening, or you could opt for seamless mode. Programs like WinSplit Revolution and UltraMon would still work. This virtual video driver would allow you to slice & dice your physical monitor into as many virtual monitors as you want. Does anybody know if such software exists? If not, are there any budding Windows display driver guru's out there willing to take up the challenge? I am not after the myriad of virtual desktop/window manager programs that are available. I get frustrated with these programs. They seem good at first but they usually have some strange behaviour and don't work well with other programs (such as WinSplit Revolution). I want the real thing!

  • AJAX modalpopupextender pressing enter when cancel is focused doesn't trigger cancel

    - by Jonn
    Been using the Ajax modalpopupextender. I used a script to set focus on the cancel button when it gets showed on the page but when I press enter (expecting that cancel would've been triggered since it was focused) it went ahead and triggered the event for the OK button (which, unfortunately was a delete event). I've tried using various methods for focusing on the Cancel button and trying to make it work. Anyone know how to make this work?

  • What color to use in owner-draw Windows List Control background?

    - by Mark Ransom
    I have an owner-drawn list control in my Windows program. I use CListCtrl::GetBkColor to get the background color, and for a selected item I use GetSysColor(COLOR_HIGHLIGHT). This matches what Windows uses for non owner drawn list controls, except for the case where the control doesn't have focus - then the background is replaced with gray. Does Windows use one of the GetSysColor constants for the selected but unfocused background? If so, which one?

    The official "MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-562): Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 ASP.NET Application Development" will not be released until mid-April. For the time being, what is the best book with which to prepare for the exam? I'm not asking which book is the best ASP.NET 3.5 book in general, just which is best with regard to the skills measured on the exam. The book should focus on C#, not VB.

  • UITextfield is becoming focused after UIButton pressed

    - by Chris
    I have a UITextfield for entering text. A button triggers a functionality. After completion of the IBAction the UITextfield is getting focused again. After the IBAction I want to keyboard to disappear. What happends now is that due to the IBAction of the button, the keyboards disappears (I'm showing a UIAlert) and after the IBAction the keyboards pop's up again together with the focus in the UITextfield. Is it possible to prevent the UITextfield to be focused after the IBAction?

  • How to tell when an HTML textarea has been changed by Javascript

    - by at
    A widget I'm using modifies an HTML textarea element. I need to know when that element has been modified and preferably I'd like to actually hide that element as well. I'm using jQuery, so I naturally tried the $('#textarea_id').change() event. But it's never triggered because I guess the textarea never loses focus. What's the best way to monitor that textarea, preferably hidden (css has display:none)? Please don't tell me setInterval...
