I am using ASP.NET C# with mySql database. What is the best way for implementation of login system like Membership and Role. Membership and Role dont work with mySql database.
I am working with few simple xoml workflow (.NET 3.5), and I want to add few simple comment and note on the xoml file.
I can find a "Description" property on activity, but that not easy to read.
I have content like this stored in a database
<p>This a sample text. <%= Html.ActionLink("test", "myaction", "mycontroller") %></p>
The content is part of my data repository, that is the reason I want to keep it inside the database.
I would like to know how it is possible to render it and execute it at compile time.
I am using it on an asp.net mvc project.
Thank you.
Hello, I am looking to integrate an existing product with Hawk (http://www.hawkms.com/), which our application support team uses to keep an eye on operations. I've never used the product so I was wondering if anyone could point me to some resources about how to expose performance data so that it can be monitored with Hawk.
Specifically, the technologies we're using is asp.net and wcf ... but resources on other technology stacks would still be useful if they are available.
Thanks!
Hey,
I want to use the Windows logon information to check if a user can use my "classic asp" site. So if the user is logon at a certain Windows Domain network he/she can enter the site and i can use this persons Windows logon information on my asp site.
I know its possible with ASP.NET but is it also possible with "classic asp", if yes, how?
Retrofitting ASP.NET WebForms themes to an old application I have a need to theme an <input> tag such that the JavaScript click event is different for each theme. I replaced with tag with an asp:Button, only to disciver that the OnClientClick property is not themeable.
Can anyone suggest a workaround for this?
.NET 4 introduced some types to nicely support cooperative cancellation. I would like to be able to cancel an operation which is running in a different AppDomain. The CancellationToken type is a struct. If I pass it to another AppDomain, will it work as normal?
Hi Everyone
i m developing a website using .NET 3.5 with MVC 2.0. For server side validations i m using ComponentModel.DataAnnotations. these validations are reflected to client side by html helper's method Html.EnableClientValidation(). this scheme works fine for except that it triggers the validation on blur event of each form control whereas i want to have it triggered on form's submit event. any suggestions in this regard are highly appreciated
regards
I'm trying to find some info about removing an image background "automagically" if possible in .NET.
Actually I could not find much data and I don't event know if it's possible or are there any API components available.
Any ideas?
hey all,
I have to make a SMS sending application in .NET which uses a connected CDMA based Windows mobile 6.1 device to send sms. The problem is I have never worked on smartphone app development so don't have any idea about how should i go about it. Couldn't find anything useful on SO or elsewhere, so please guide me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance to all those who reply.
P.S.:I posted a similar question regarding blackberry here
Should you always close a DataReader before closing the connection, or is it okay to just close the connection? By just closing the connection does that effectively close the reader?
(This is for c#.net 3.5)
Thanks!
I did a system test on a new ASP.NET app. I encountered several exceptions when using the BACK button in my browser (IE 7).
I stated in a review-record that the web-app must support the use of a BACK button (or at least handle it gracefully with for example session-time out warnings). The teamlead did not agree with me as he stated that a web-app should not support working with the back-button by default.
Do you agree?
It seems that CompilationMode=Never doesn't permit Sessions to be properly wired.
It first complains that the EnbaleSessionState directive is not allowed on this page.
Explicitly assigning the System.Web.SessionState.IRequiresSessionState to the Page [1] avoids the null reference exceptions (around .Session access) but still doesn't persist or wire-up sessions correctly.
Has anyone successfully used ASP.NET Sessions with CompilationMode=Never?
Conceptually, why should these be disjoint??

Hi guys:
I would like to seek your suggestion for the tool faciliate the multiple-browser testing of web site.
PS: ASP.NET is my current working environment.
I have a .net assembly that needs to be 32-Bit and needs to be /LARGEADDRESSAWARE.
I know how to do this with EditBin, but I wonder if there is a built-in way in Visual Studio 2010? Or alternatively, did someone write an MSBuild Task for this?
When using stored procedures I am able to add default values to parameters, for example:
@name varchar(50) = NULL
Is is possible to do something similar when using a parameterized query in .NET.
Thanks
I am using ASP.NET 4.0 and MVC 2 I have added these lines which i found in other articles -
To the Web-Config -
<httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0"/>
To the Controller -
<ValidateInput(False), AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)>
To the View Page -
<%@ Page ValidateRequest="false" %>
But still gives me "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client"
I am trying to use the Markitp editor in this way -
<%= Html.TextAreaFor( model => model.Description,"markitup")%>

I have an asp.net ascx control file and I have put the control on an aspx page. The aspx page has a button in which when I press enter on the keyboard, I want it to fire the event handler for the button. Is there a way to set this?
I am using a master page with a button already on it, so now when I press the enter key, the event handler for that button fires.
Is there any way of specifying a URI (rather than a physical path) as the "Data Source" parameter in an OleDB connection string, or the "Dbq" parameter in an ODBC connection string, such that the default ADO.Net providers will work with it?
I've tried file://, and it's a no go, so I just wanted to confirm whether or not this is possible. I'm guessing not, but any confirmation or documentation links would be appreciated.
Hi,
What is the best way to reference an existing .NET dll (Class library)? Is there any benefit to expose web services from the class library and reference these as opposed to referencing the actual .dll (Although one benefit of the web service approach is the granularity and thus surface area exposed is up to you at coding time)?
I am thinking with loose coupling in mind, as a criteria.
Thanks
I am using RPX for authentication. Now I get the user profile with identifier. What to do next to set authentication cookie and other things? Also the logout feature. in ASP.net 3.5 and C#.
Google custom search code is provided as a form tag. However, Asp.net only allows a single form tag on a page. What is the best way to implement their code so you can include it on an aspx page (say as part of a Masterpage or navigation element).
