I am just starting to use weblogic workshop and can't figure out how to build a restful web service.
Anyone have a good tutorial on the subject? or some tips or suggestions?
Say in my web.xml file, I define a servlet like so:
<url-pattern>/MyURL/*</url-pattern>
How do i access anything passed in the * in my servlet? I'm planning to use use this scheme for pretty(-ish) URLs.
When I try to select the following "File Open Web Site" or use the shortcut key "Shift + Alt + O" (which does the same), Visual Studio 2008 hangs with the loading mouse icon for about 8-10 seconds then the file.
But if I do "File Open Project/Solution.." or "File Open File..." the explorer window comes up in under a second, instantly most times.
Computer Specs:
Windows 7 x64
Visual Studio 2008 Pro Edition with Service Pack 1
Intel Core2 Due e6420 @ 3.2GHz
4GB DDR2
Hey there,
I've heard about web scraping software that can take data from a webpage. i'm building an android app and I want to take information from this site www.menupages.ie
All I need is the names of the restaurants, and typing them in myself would be very tedious.
Can someone tell me how i'd go about doing this in eclipse, what methods i need etc.
I dont know anything about it.
Thanks alot.
When your vs.net project is type website, what's the namespace/dll you reference in your handler web.config setting?
you normally have to do:
"YourNameSpace.Class, Class"
Hello,
The company I work for has started using Confluence for documenting software development and the associated processes. We are looking into using content created on the wiki to create a user manual, as both a PDF for hardcopy and HTML for a web based manual. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for this specific workflow?
Cheers.
I read somewhere the you can't remove response headers once they've been added. Given that, I'm wondering where in a standard ASP.NET web forms application do response headers get added initially. For example, these:
Date Fri, 23 Apr 2010 16:25:56 GMT
Server Microsoft-IIS/6.0
X-Powered-By ASP.NET
Cache-Control private
And can I stop it from happening? Do subsequent headers override old headers? Does my question even make sense?
Thanks.
By default, when you print a web page, the page title and and URL are printed at the top of the page, and likewise the date and time are printed at the bottom.
It is possible to remove this additional as you are printing through the PAGE SETUP menu (under FILE in Internet Exp)
Does anyone know of a way of doing this via CSS or javascript?
I'm writing a download manager, and I've noticed that all the web pages I've encountered don't seem to set the ContentLength header, whereas other media types (images) do. However, when I load a page (in Firefox), I get a progress as it loads. What's that based off if not file size?
Currently I am developing Web Parts for MOSS 2007 using .NET 2.0 and deploying them to the GAC with WSPBuilder. I would like to move to .NET 3.5 to open up things like LINQ and WCF.
Is this possible and will there be any significant changes required to MOSS to support doing so?
I'm looking for a quick way to log some data - I seem to remember a way to write to the access log, similar to System.Out.Println() but I can't seem to remember how to do it.
I can't attach a debugger, nor can I add additional information to the web app via Response.Write().
Is there a simple way - a single statement with no configuration changes would be ideal - to write to either the error or access logs?
What is the more efficient way to create a web video chat ?
What tecnologies ?
What server side and client side languages ?
What type fo server ?
etc

Thanks ;)
I know SysCache uses ASP caching under the hood, but since I'm not aware of the implementation of the ASP cache (and if it depends on anything IIS), I was wondering if SysCache would work in a non-web application (like a Windows Service)?
Activating it and using NHprofiler seems to show it is not.
Ok, I asked a question earlier about Flex and ADO.NET Data Services but didn't get much response so I thought I'd rephrase. Does anyone have any experience building Adobe Flex applications with a .NET back-end? If so, what architecture did you use and what third-party tools if any did you employ. I've read a little about doing Flex remoting with WebORB but it seems more complicated than it should be, are web services an adequate alternative?
If there is a URL in a source file comment, I can "CTRL + click to follow link." However, when I do this, the link opens inside Visual Studio. How can I make it open in my web browser--in my case, Google Chrome?
I am working on an app which calls a rest web service. Sometimes the xml responses contain characters which the phone can not understand. When displaying these characters, an empty box is displayed instead. I would like to filter out these characters. How can I detect if a character will be able to be displayed on the screen?
I'm loading profile pictures from Facebook, cache them on disk and load them into cells of a UITableView.
Now I'm wondering, how I can find out when someone has changed his/her profile picture on Facebook that I have to load the new image from the web instead of using the one cached disk.
The url of the image is always the same. Is there a lightweight way of doing this without downloading the image and comparing it to the local file?
I have been searching the web for recent benchmarks measuring Grails overall performance compared to its competitors (Rails, Django, ASP.NET MVC...), but I didn't find anything more recent than a 3 years-old article with obsolete grails version (0.5). See here and here.
So, starting from grails 1.2, are there any more recent grails benchmarks you are aware of ?
Or do you have your own performance tests for grails (compared to others if possible) ?
I have a large project in Vb.net which drives a web browser control around. What's the best, and easiest, way to manage browser pop ups? Note, I am not just looking to cancel or close them. I need to manage them just like the main window.
Hi guys! I was wondering if it's possibile to create a web-client that can connect two users and then it sends their webcam stream to each other. This should happen without using Red5 or any other flash/media server.
What protocol can I use? What api etc...
Consider multiple domains (with different country extensions) that go to one singe physical website.
Depending on the country extension of the domain, I want to route to a specific subfolder while keeping the active domain!
Examples:
www.mydomain.com/we/about-us.aspx to www.mydomain.com/content/com/we/about-us.aspx
www.mydomain.fr/we/about-us.aspx to www.mydomain.fr/content/fr/we/about-us.aspx
www.mydomain.be/we/about-us.aspx to www.mydomain.be/content/be/we/about-us.aspx
Is this possible with the new web routing features in ASP.NET 4.0?
Thanks,
Nick
