How can I delete the local user profile on a Windows 7 Machine that is connected to a Windows Server 2008 domain?
delprof doesn't seem to exist on Windows 7.
Processor: Intel i5 4430 4-Core 4x3Ghz
Motherboard: msi h87-g41
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX760
Power supply: eps-750 cm
RAM: 8GB
I bought a new assembled gaming PC which worked fine for a few days. Then it started rebooting without warning. After it restarts windows 7 gives me an bbc 116 error code. Apparently it's something to do with my video card, either it overheating or wrong drivers. I've installed the latest driver from Nvidia for my graphics card. Since it's brand new it can't be dust, I'm running it with its lid open to see if the problem persists. I'm also running prime95 now to see if it tells me anything else. Using core temp it tells me that my CPU reaches up to 95° celsius with the blend stress test from prime95. Aaaand it just peaked to 100°. Of course it doesn't reach these temperatures at all while idle/gaming.
I'm gonna let prime95 run for a night and to see what happens. Until then does anyone know what I should do next?
My desktop now displays video artifacts after been exposed to rain. Only a very small amount of moisture went inside the case. The only place I noticed any water was on the CPU socket. I used a hair dryer and paper towels to wick any remaining moisture. When I boot the PC it loads it the OS, but there are large numbers of video artifacts. The artifacts appear symmetric if that helps.
I am wondering what components I need to replace. I'd like to salvage what I can.
My setup: AMD Athlon x3, Asus main board (AM2 socket), nVidia GT 430 PCIe, 8gb (4gb x2) DDR3
I'd like to create a mini dropbox and print server on a small soho network of 5 users (all of them use windows XP desktops).
The device need to run 24/7 or at least 12/7 (I can accept just workday hours too but the other two options would be better).
Dropbox mini server: I mean I will have a 90gb dropbox on every computer on my network LAN syncing with It and the one onto It syncing to the web.
Print Server: I have Samsung SCX 4521F (fax/print/scan/copy), Samsung ML2010, HP Laser jet P1006, HP Color Laserjet CP1215, HP Office jet pro K8600, HP Design jet 500. All of them now are connected using little print servers and I want to get rid of them hooking everything to this mini server. The fax/print/scan/copy machine need to stay connected to a PC to make me able to use the software that comes with It. The mini server would save me on this too.
Fax/Scan server: since I have the above mentioned fax/print/scan/copy machine I would like to make people use It from/to their computers through the mini server.
I thought to a recent EEEBOX machine because I heard good things about ATOM cpus and because It seems that a recent BIOS version could switch It off and on autonomously.
I'd like to listen some advice from You. Best of all would be:
If You have something similar running for a long time
If You disagree with this hardware choice and If You would suggest some other device.
If You see any issues with my printing setup
Anything else ;)
My budget is from Zero (using right sw to build something on top on a old PC) to 500€ max.
I've three questions.
Is it better/faster/optimal to set up your server's preferred and alternate DNS servers in your OS's network settings or in your router settings?
Will it cause problems if it is set up in both places, both pointing to the same IPs?
I am running Windows and I have my network assign a static IP to one of my computers. This doesn't allow me to obtain the DNS server addresses from my router automatically. Is there an IP I can put in that will cause it to take the DNS server addresses from the router?
Is there any free software that will detect the status of internet and shutdown the system when the internet disconnects?
Or (more generally) can something run a task when the internet disconnects, and I can route it to shutdown the machine?
I am downloading things overnight. But my problem is that sometimes the internet connection will be disconnected in the middle of the night, so there is no point in keeping the system running the rest of the night.
So I need to avoid this problem by detecting the net connectivity.
I just noted this question due to a game (which happens to be Diablo 2), but the matter of fact is: why is my brand new mac book pro, made in 2009 with latest technology (tho it's the cheapest one) can't rival my computer which used to run this much faster back in 2000? Really, it was much faster on my AMD K6 450 back in those days, and I could even run two clients at same time with no slow down.
I've always had the feeling this machine was slow, but this is a very odd way to attest it.
Granted, the machine is smaller, runs on wifi and "boots" way faster thanks to sleep mode. But other than that, what have we evolved after all?! I'm pretty sure this shouldn't be graphical card's fault.
Sure if I buy latest technology it will run fast, and probably most people here can confirm this and won't even understand my question. But the thing is, all the hardware is supposedly much faster and better than the stuff from 10 years ago. The software and operating system became more complex, but also more well refined. Now I'm trying a piece of software that is actually 10 years old and it's not getting any better results! Why?
Alright - so this might be a stupid question but I've never been all that much into TV. I currently have Comcast cable. I've just got the 'basic' 2-60 package or whatever; I've just always plugged the cable into the back of my TV. I've never had a cable box.
Recently, Comcast has been pulling channels off of my line-up. Most recently, the stole the TV Guide channel from me. I'm told this is part of a push to get customers to switch to their digital line-up. But, I'm also told it requires some sort of digital receiver for each TV you've got.
I don't want to buy a bunch of these digital receivers and I don't want to pay the monthly rental fee...but I have heard of how awesome media center PCs are and some really cool things they can do. And, I've got loads of PC parts sitting around.
So, can someone guide me through this a bit? Are there computer video cards or TV tuners that are going to work with Comcast's digital cable? What kind of price range are we looking at?
There is a file server in my office that is not connected to my office LAN. In this server there are folders that are shared. This server is connected to a switch and a wireless router. Everyone who wants to access this server uses wireless network connection. They log in to this server by providing user name and password registered to the server.
Some people can log in to my office file server by providing user name in (the server name)/(user name) format, while other must use (the server IP address)/(user name) format. Why is it like this? I need everyone can access the file server by providing user name in (the server name)/(user name) format.
I have tried to change the %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file, as some suggested, but it won't work. Any other suggestion?
I am attempting to connect MySQLWorkbench to a remote MySQL Server.
The server has granted access to
user@IPAddress
However, when I try to connect MySQLWorkbench, it sends
user@computername
instead. How do I configure the connection to use the IP address instead in MySQLWorkbench?
Reference: The remote server is on the local network, so I need to use the local IP address assigned to my client.
EDIT
What I have tried so far:
from the server:
mysql -u user@IPAddress -p --host=(ServerIPAddress)
Returns:
mysql>
So that tells me the user account is operational. Furthermore, I confirmed it exists using:
select user from mysql.user;
returning a table of all users, of which the user I am using is present.
I have also opened the port 3306:
sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -s clientIPAddress -p tcp --destination-port3306 -j ACCEPT
Still I encounter Access Denied
I have a laptop which occasionally uses Ethernet and most of the time WiFi. Now I want to forward a port in the router so that it always points to my current IP. I'm likely to get different IPs from time to time and I can't really use a dedicated IP for the machine since the IPs are assigned by MAC address and the wireless card has a different MAC address than the Ethernet port.
I'm using a NetGear CG3100 router.
I have a Mac (OS X 10.5) that I would like to connect to a dedicated/isolated Internet connection (one that is not connected to the LAN), and a LAN.
The LAN is set up with its own, separate, Internet connection which is shared by several dozen computers (and is quite slow).
I want to set it up so that the Mac uses its own dedicated Internet connection (on a different account with a different company) for its Internet access, but can still access the local area network as well.
How can I configure the Mac & the network to allow this?
hello there
i am a engineering student. I am doing my project which requires mobile to pc real time voice transfer via bluetooth and vice versa.is it possible? I am using windows 7. plz help me.
Why do computers have speakers inside of them that are pretty much only used for stuff before the OS boots? Are there other uses? Why were they added? Do newer computers still have them?
Hi,
Every time I turn on my PC the viewport isn't aligned correctly on the screen - there is always a black strip on the right hand side. This is not a big issue as it can be resolved by pressing the menu button on the screen and doing a factory reset. However it is irritating having to do it every time.
I am using a flat screen monitor with vga connections.
The weird thing it never used to happen before with the tower Im using. Is potentially out of date drivers a problem?
Thanks.

I'm got a custom built PC running 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate. So far everything works great except for one thing: it will not wake up from sleep mode for a wake timer or scheduled task.
Sleep mode itself works great. If it's sleeping, it wakes successfully when I press the power button, mash the keyboard, wiggle the mouse, or send a WOL packet. The only problem is wake timers. I even tried the program WakeupOnStandBy but it looks like that uses wake timers, so it doesn't do anything for me either.
And yes, wake timers are enabled:
Any ideas on how to fix the problem, or troubleshoot it? I'd imagine that there would be a log somewhere telling me exactly why the wake timers are having trouble, but if there is I haven't found it.
Why doesn't this work? it looks like it will but nothing happens.

Hi,
I'm having a problem with my desktop whereby it sometimes resets itself semi-randomly. For example, I'll switch it on, it'll boot an OS and shortly after getting to the desktop it will immediately reset with no warning. The time isn't consistent - sometimes it does it before reaching login.
I'm pretty sure it's not an OS thing; have tried Ubuntu and a Windows install and both exhibit it. It also doesn't appear to be heat-related because sometimes it appears to be able to "get past" it and will then run stably even under load; if anything it seems to be worse from a cold start.
My gut feeling is some kind of power issue but I'm clutching at straws a little. Any suggestions on how I could go about testing it or trying to narrow the problem down would be appreciated.
The machine is four years old now so while I can replace components if needed, it's not worth enough that I'm comfortable buying new parts without being pretty confident that they'll fix the problem.
Thanks in advance for any help :)
Edit: Okay, the motherboard is a MSI K8N SLI; CPU is an Athlon64 X2 4200+. Has one video card, a GeForce 7800GT. 1GB RAM, not sure of brand; 3 hard drives, two SATA and one PATA. Flashed motherboard to latest BIOS some time ago.
Edit the Second: I thought I'd narrowed it down to the PSU for a while, but then it recurred again. I ended up pulling everything out but CPU, RAM and motherboard and it still seems to be stuffed (if anything, it's gotten worse in the last couple of days). I assume it's one of those three components, but the machine is old enough that I don't really want to spend money replacing any of them. So thanks for everyone's suggestions; much appreciated!
I wanted to connect to internet from my mobile through laptop wireless-broadband internet connection..
For that I have gone to Network Places, there i have done appropriate settings for "Wireless Network Connection" and "Bluetooth Personal Area Network Connection",, but that Bluetooth connection is still not showing connected..
I have checked the option for "Allow other network users to connect through this computers Internet connection", but still my Bluetooth Connection is still showing not connected..
Please help me out,, as to how can i achieve the same,, as i am having Broadband internet connection, which comes wirelessly to my laptop through a router/modem..
I am trying to build a new server around a Biostar TH61 motherboard and an Adaptec 6405E RAID controller card.
The machine booted fine from USB before the RAID card and drives were installed. After installing, on the first boot the card was detected, but then started to spit out the following message every 10 seconds:
Error: Controller Kernel Stopped Running
<< Press any key to continue ...
Following the troubleshooting guide I unplugged everything, reseated the card, and reattached all the drives. This time the machine is sitting on the boot screen without any error messages and flashing a cursor, but after 15 minutes of this, nothing seems to be happening. Given that there are no error messages I'm hesitant to reboot again.
Is it normal for a RAID card to sit without a status message when it firsts boots, maybe to initialise the drives or something?
The current screen output looks a bit like this:
Controller #00 found at PCI Slot:01, Bus:01, Dev:00, Func:00
Controller Model: Adaptec 6405E
Firmware Version: 5.2-0[18512]
Memory Size: 128MB
Serial number: 111111111111111
SAS WWN: 50000D1104AE9180
_
Update: So after waiting 30 minutes I've rebooted back to the Kernal Stopped Running error. Maybe time to update the RAID BIOS.
I have a desktop PC which was recently moved. Since moving I've noticed that even while the PC is turned off (but wall socket turned on) the NumLock LED on the keyboard is on.
It may have been doing this before the move, but I've only noticed it now.
Maybe it matters that the keyboard is connected via a shared mouse/keyboard PS/2 port and I'm running Windows 7.
I've not checked whether the LEDs are just keeping whatever state they were in when I turned the PC off but will do this if that information could be relevant.
Why does the led stay on when the PC is turned off and how can I prevent this?
I'm in a ssh connection and I would like to play a sound after a command completes (not on the server where I connected).
Something:
ssh [email protected]
make && play-sound-local
I have built-in pc-speaker disabled so echo -e "\a" doesn't work.
Any suggestions?
