I downloaded dotnetopenauth last week and I have seen people mention the samples, but all I see is a desktop sample. Where would I find a web/asp.net sample?
.Net has the built in ToShortDateString() function for DateTime that uses the CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.DateTimeFormat.ShortTimePattern format. It returns something like this for en-US: "5:00 pm". For a 24 hour culture such as de-DE it would return "17:00".
What I want is a way to just return just the hour (So "5 pm" and "17" in the cases above) that works with every culture. What's the best/cleanest way to do this?
Thanks!
Hi StackOverflow,
I'm trying to group the following string into three groups.
0:0:Awesome:awesome
That being "0", "0" and "Awesome:awesome"
Using this regular expression:
^([0-9]+)\:([0-9]*)\:(.*)$
It works fine on online regex services: http://rubular.com/r/QePxt57EwU
But it seems like .NET doesn't agree.
In .net objects like DataTable when you have two grids(Master and Detail) and add a row to the second one(Detail), The new row will have the Foreign-Key Values automatically.
How can i do it(I don't use DataTables because they suck)?
thanks.
I had applied the following code as said by you :
byte[] b = YourByteArrayFromDb;
File.WriteAllBytes(MyFilePath, b);
But I am receiving an exception "Access to the path is denied". How do I solve this using ASP.Net with C# ? And is there any format to set the path as string ?
I'm going through a phase where I'm not being productive at all. I find it hard to justify to myself getting paid six figures to sit in front of my computer and act busy. Management is completely disengaged, and the users as well. What do you do in this type of situation? I've taken to learning some deeper aspects of .Net and software construction in general, but don't like the feeling that I'm stiffing my employer.
I've recently started a new project in C#, and, as I was coding some exception throw in a function, I figured out I didn't really know which exception I should use.
Here are common exceptions that are often thrown in many programs :
ArgumentException
ArgumentNullException
InvalidOperationException
Are there any framework exceptions you often use in your programs ?
Which exceptions should every .net programmer know about ?
When do you use custom exception ?
Hi,
We have an existing web application developed using ASP.NET/Ajax
We are planning to move it to either WPF or Silverlight.
Can someone please compare these 2 technologies with respect to productivity,performance, maintainability,trade-offs, their pros and cons etc ?
Thanks for reading.

I'm doing course 3354 (Implementing System Types and Interfaces in the .NET Framework 2.0) and it is said that for simple classes, with members variables and functions, it is better to use a struct than a class because of overhead.
I have never heard of such a thing, what is the validity of this claim?
I am migrating an ASP.NET Web Service toward WCF. The old Web Service endpoint had a nice extensive description page generated from the comment of the underlying class exposed as a service endpoint. In particular, all available web methods were listed.
Is there a way to emulate somehow this behavior with WCF? At least, how can I customize the HTML content of the WCF endpoint?

I'm looking for a while to programmatically convert (or use a tool already created) MACESS .cra, .acr, and .err files to a readable format?
I'd prefer a .NET way of doing it however at this point I'll take any programmatic way.
PS I tried adding tags "MACESS Sungard" but I don't have 250 rep yet to do so.
i have a piece of code here that breaks if the directory doesn't exist
System.IO.File.WriteAllText(filePath, content);
is it possible to do in one line (or a few lines) to check the directory leading to the new file doesn't exist and if not, to create it before creating the new file.
i'm in .NET 3.5 here.
I have a Asp.net web application running with the following config setting.
<xhtmlConformance mode="Legacy"/>
This limits use of AJAX and compatibility with multiple browser.
If my understanding is correct, the HTML code of the aspx pages need to be fixed to comply with XHTML 1.0 Transitional.
There are alot of HTML pages, ~1000, is there a tool that could speed up this process?
I'm developing a CMS aplication in ASP .Net using WebForms and I'm looking for a way to create new PDF files based on a template.
This feature will be used to generate contracts where some placeholders will be replaced with the customer data.
What's the best approach to do that?
As per title. I want to be able to save some data in a cache object but this object must be available to all users/sessions and can expire.
What is the best method to achieve this in a asp.net web app?
Is it possible to add other menu items to other pinned applications right click menu in the Windows 7 taskbar? I'm using .NET, but I will accept P/Invokes as well. I've been reading the documentation on the API, and can't seem to find a way to do this. I just thought I'd check here as a last ditch effort to find a way.
For example I have class to serialize
[Serializable]
class Person
{
[XmlAttribute("name")]
string Name {get;set;}
}
I need to make Name attribute required. How to do this in .NET?
how to get a list of files / folders as an IEnumerable and not an array?
the reason I want to do this is a have many folders with 20,000+ files in them, and i need to loop through all of them but do not want to wait for them to be compiled into an array. but just want to go through one at a time.
also i'm using .net 3.5 not v4
I need load XNA.Texture2D to PictureBox.
i've tried this: http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/viewreply.asp?ID=3224621 but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
I want to write a basic if statement on my site to display either item 1 or item 2 depending on if a variable is set to true.
I am not to familiar with .Net and need a little help with the basic structure of how to get an if statement to work on the aspx page.
thank you for your help.
I have checked the following article on how to use the sqlMembershipProvider. My doubt, is this the way most of the asp.net applications authentication schemes implemented.
Is there any other method, any references will be quite helpful for me.
How does one control the application recycle settings for an ASP.NET application runnin on mod_mono & Apache ?
On IIS6 & 7 there was an option to specify either a time period, a number of requests, etc. when the AppDomain would be recycled and the application would basically do an Application_End() / Application_Start().
I am seeing the same behaviour on mod_mono & Apache ,but I can't find where to change the settings.
I have an asp.net app that uses System.IO.Path.GetTempFileName() for temporary files. In the production IIS environment (W2K3), the temp folder (System.IO.Path.GetTempPath()) points to C:\Windows\Temp. But on my XP dev machine it's C:\documents and settings\machinename\ASPNET\temp.
Is it possible to change this folder without affecting other accounts on my machine?
