  • SQL Server 2000, how to automate import data from excel

    Say the source data comes in excel format, below is how I import the data. Converting to csv format via MS Excel Roughly find bad rows/columns by inspecting backup the table that needs to be updated in SQL Query Analyzer truncate the table (may need to drop foreign key constraint as well) import data from the revised csv file in SQL Server Enterprise Manager If there's an error like duplicate columns, I need to check the original csv and remove them I was wondering how to make this procedure more effecient in every step? I have some idea but not complete. For step 2&6, using scripts that can check automatically and print out all error row/column data. So it's easier to remove all errors once. For step 3&5, is there any way to automatically update the table without manually go through the importing steps? Could the community advise, please? Thanks.

    Is there any plugings or text editor to auto-complete SQL statement? I am using SQL Server Management Studio (ssms) 90% of time, but most of time I have to type SELECT FROM WITH(NOLOCK) WHERE blahblah. Trying to find a more efficient way. Thanks.

    I want to output my sql rows on each side of a line, without breaking the line. Forexample the html/css code i would like to end up with is something like this: <div id='container'> <div style='float:left;'> Even loops here.. </div> <div id='line' style='float:left;'> </div> <div style='float:right;'> Uneven loops here.. </div> <div style='clear:both;'></div> </div> Is there a way to output the sql rows in two diffrent divs?

  • version control projects in eclipse

    Say I have eclipse installed in office and home. Both eclipse are 3.5 but may have slightly difference, like plugins version. I'd like to commit the code to online repo when get off work and then checkout at home. What would be a possible solution? github? sourceforge? Are they free? Would those slightly difference in eclipse cause any problem? Since I might commit whole project folder which consist some configurations. Can the community explain a bit or suggest some keyword? I will look up more online. Thanks.

    My slides say that A recurssive call should always be on a smaller data structure than the current one There must be a non recurssive option if the data structure is too small You need a wrapper method to make the recurssive method accessible Just reading this from the slides makes no sence, especially seeing as it was a topic from before christmas!   • Python configuration file generator

    I want to use Python to make a configuration file generator. My roughly idea is feeding input with template files and some XML files with the real settings. Then use the program to generate the real configuration files. I got several questions: Is there any open source configuration generator program? (what could be the keyword), I wonder if there's anything can be added/modified in the design. Does Python have good XML parser module? Is it good idea to use XML file to save the original settings? I've been thinking to use Excel since it's more intuitive to maintain, but harder for program to parse. Not sure how people deal with this. Hope the community can give me some suggestions.     I am not sure if you can post revision programming questions in here but i am stuck with some algorithms revision If an algorithm is quadratic it takes time proportional to the number of n^2 ? So if the slides say its almost 1/2 the square of n records is this the same as saying (n^2 * 0.5) Thanks
