  • How to return model state from child action handler in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Joe Future
In my blog engine, I have one controller action that displays blog content, and in that view, I call Html.RenderAction(...) to render the "CreateComment" form. When a user posts a comment, the post is handled by the comment controller (not the blog controller). If the comment data is valid, I simply return a Redirect back to the blog page's URL. If the comment data is invalid (e.g. comment body is empty), I want to return the ViewData with the error information back to the blog controller and through the blog view to the CreateComment action/view so I can display which fields are bad. I have this working fine via AJAX when Javascript is enabled, but now I'm working on the case where Javascript might be disabled. If I return a RedirecToAction or Redirect from the comment controller, the model state information is lost. Any ideas?

  • Fluent NHibernate OptimisticLock.None() causes "The string 'none' is not a valid Boolean value."

    - by David Thomas Garcia
I'm using the following mapping: public class LoadMap : IAutoMappingOverride<Load> { public void Override(AutoMapping<Load> mapping) { mapping.HasMany(x => x.Bids).OptimisticLock.None(); mapping.Version(x => x.Version); } } But when I try to create the session I get the following exception: [FormatException: The string 'none' is not a valid Boolean value.] [XmlSchemaValidationException: The 'optimistic-lock' attribute is invalid - The value 'none' is invalid according to its datatype 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema:boolean' - The string 'none' is not a valid Boolean value.] I'm using NHibernate 2.1.2.4000 and I was using Fluent NHibernate 1.0RTM, but tried the latest build 636 just to be sure this isn't something that was fixed recently or something. As a side note, in case I'm doing this all wrong, I would like to be able to make changes to the .Bids list without incrementing Version. I saw an example on Ayende's blog that did what I wanted with properties.

  • jQuery validations not working in IE 7?

    - by Pselus
I have a problem. The client is claiming that a prize signup form I built for them is not working in IE 7. It works in IE 8 just fine which they agree about, but in IE 7 it doesn't. (luckily they don't care about IE 6). I was hoping someone could help me debug it since I don't have access to a machine with IE 7 (I work on a Mac). The page is here: http://www.fuchscorp.com/midamerica/prizes/prize.signup.php When you click the Submit button in IE 7 it just doesn't work. Don't worry about submitting information as the site isn't live (so, no...you won't be winning any prizes). If someone could please help me debug this and figure out what's going on that would be amazingly helpful.

  • Is it really necessary to have a competely validated Mark Up and css for SEO purposes

    - by Hitesh Manchanda
Hi , While validating my CSS on http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ I am getting following errors: 1.Property zoom doesn't exist : 1 1. 2.Property -webkit-transition doesn't exist : all 200ms ease-in all 200ms ease-in 3.Property opacity doesn't exist in CSS level 2.1 4.Property -moz-border-radius doesn't exist 5.Property -webkit-border-radius doesn't exist Is it really required to validate the MarkUp and CSS completely for SEO or these errors which mostly are browser specific can be ignored for now. If these errors have to removed can someone please suggest the way to do so also.

  • How to exclude an enumeration value in XML file using XSD?

    - by infant programmer
Is it possible to specify the value of a tag or attribute should not be like some_value ? I have a strange requirement, where the xsd isn't aware of the values being sent to it. The value of that particular tag can be a string with any value except one value ( say data_migration). The sender should be acknowledged with the error, if that particular value is sent. Is it possible to specify this restriction?

  • can a valid xml body have escaped characters for the '<' and '>' around the element names

    - by prmatta
My web service is receiving xml from a third party that looks like this: <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"> <SOAP-ENV:Body> &lt;Foo&gt;bar&lt;/Foo&gt; </SOAP-ENV:Body> </SOAP-ENV:Envelope> My jaxws web service rejects this with a parsing error. Also if I try to validate this xml using soapui it says Body with element-only content type cannot have text element. My question is, is that xml valid? Or is the client supposed to send me something without escaping the < and . Any references to xml standards or rules are appreciated.

  • ASP.Net WebForms requiredfieldvalidator not working in FireFox?

    - by larryq
I have a WebForms app that uses a field validator on a dropdownlist. It works in IE but not FireFox. This is pretty straightforward stuff I'm doing. Here are the setups for the dropdown and validator: <asp:DropDownList ID ="dmbFileActNo" runat="server" CssClass="DROPDOWN_MEDIUM" AutoPostBack="True"></asp:DropDownList> <asp:requiredfieldvalidator EnableClientScript="true" id="rfvFileActNo" Display="None" ControlToValidate="dmbFileActNo" Runat="server" InitialValue="-1"></asp:requiredfieldvalidator> I'm running ASP.Net 2.0 on the web server. Javascript is enabled on the FireFox browser-- this problem happens on all FF browsers I've tested, on multiple everyday machines, so I don't believe it's due to a locked down install.

  • Restricting empty elements in xsd

    - by Chris Welsh
Is there a way to prevent empty elements of the form <myElement/> being used in your xml? In other words, can you specify in your xsd that <myElement/> is invalid? Using nillable="false" doesn't work, nor does minOccurs="1" - both of those allow <myElement/>.

  • How can I stop rails validating xml?

    - by Andrei T. Ursan
    I'm submitting to a rails webservice the following message: xmlPostData = "<message> <message-text>" + MESSAGE_WITH_XML + "</message-text> <name>" + subject + "</name> <f1>" + toPhone + "</f1> <f2>" + fromPhone + "</f2> </message>"; The problem is the the field with contain a text with XML data, is a workaround but I need to be able to submit that xml to the db and get it from there. Can I stop rails validating and replacing my xml in json format? this is how it looks: --- !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess smil: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess head: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess layout: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess root_layout: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess height: &quot;600&quot; background_color: white width: &quot;800&quot; type: text/smil-basic-layout body: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess par: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess text: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess left: &quot;33&quot; begin: &quot;33&quot; dur: &quot;33&quot; val: 34343434343434343aaaaaaa height: &quot;33&quot; width: &quot;33&quot; top: &quot;33&quot; And this is the ruby method from the rails webservice: # POST /messages # POST /messages.xml def create @message = Message.new(params[:message]) respond_to do |format| if @message.save flash[:notice] = 'Message was successfully created.' format.html { redirect_to(@message) } format.xml { render :xml => @message, :status => :created, :location => @message } else format.html { render :action => "new" } format.xml { render :xml => @message.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end Is a workaround but for the moment this has to work ...

  • Django: Overriding the clean() method in forms - question about raising errors

    - by Monika Sulik
I've been doing things like this in the clean method: if self.cleaned_data['type'].organized_by != self.cleaned_data['organized_by']: raise forms.ValidationError('The type and organization do not match.') if self.cleaned_data['start'] > self.cleaned_data['end']: raise forms.ValidationError('The start date cannot be later than the end date.') But then that means that the form can only raise one of these errors at a time. Is there a way for the form to raise both of these errors? EDIT #1: Any solutions for the above are great, but would love something that would also work in a scenario like: if self.cleaned_data['type'].organized_by != self.cleaned_data['organized_by']: raise forms.ValidationError('The type and organization do not match.') if self.cleaned_data['start'] > self.cleaned_data['end']: raise forms.ValidationError('The start date cannot be later than the end date.') super(FooAddForm, self).clean() Where FooAddForm is a ModelForm and has unique constraints that might also cause errors. If anyone knows of something like that, that would be great...

  • How can I tell the Data Annotations validator to also validate complex child properties?

    - by GWB
Can I automatically validate complex child objects when validating a parent object and include the results in the populated ICollection<ValidationResult>? If I run the following code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { public class Person { [Required] public string Name { get; set; } public Address Address { get; set; } } public class Address { [Required] public string Street { get; set; } [Required] public string City { get; set; } [Required] public string State { get; set; } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Person person = new Person { Name = null, Address = new Address { Street = "123 Any St", City = "New York", State = null } }; var validationContext = new ValidationContext(person, null, null); var validationResults = new List<ValidationResult>(); var isValid = Validator.TryValidateObject(person, validationContext, validationResults); Console.WriteLine(isValid); validationResults.ForEach(r => Console.WriteLine(r.ErrorMessage)); Console.ReadKey(true); } } } I get the following output: False The Name field is required. But I was expecting something similar to: False The Name field is required. The State field is required.

  • Help with password complexity regex

    - by Alex
I'm using the following regex to validate password complexity: /^.*(?=.{6,12})(?=.*[0-9]{2})(?=.*[A-Z]{2})(?=.*[a-z]{2}).*$/ In a nutshell: 2 lowercase, 2 uppercase, 2 numbers, min length is 6 and max length is 12. It works perfectly, except for the maximum length, when I'm using a minimum length as well. For example: /^.*(?=.{6,})(?=.*[0-9]{2})(?=.*[A-Z]{2})(?=.*[a-z]{2}).*$/ This correctly requires a minimum length of 6! And this: /^.*(?=.{,12})(?=.*[0-9]{2})(?=.*[A-Z]{2})(?=.*[a-z]{2}).*$/ Correctly requires a maximum length of 12. However, when I pair them together as in the first example, it just doesn't work!! What gives? Thanks!

  • Changing the message (or exception) in WPF ValidatesOnException binding

    - by Emad
I have a WPF application using MVVM. I am using binding to a POCO object. The Textbox is bound to a property in the object like: <TextBox.Text> <Binding Path="CertainProperty" Mode="TwoWay" > <Binding.ValidationRules> <ExceptionValidationRule/> </Binding.ValidationRules> </Binding> </TextBox.Text> Now this property is a a int property and when the user tried to enter a non-numeric value, they get the "input string was not in a correct format". What I need to do is customize this message to a more user friendly one. How can I do that ?

  • Intercepting creation of new object.

    - by amctammany
I'm adding a categorization functionality to my app and struggling with it. Objects have many categories through categorizations. I'm trying to intercept the creation of a new categorization, check if theres a similar one, if so, increment it's count, if not, create a new object. Here's what I have so far. validate :check_unique protected def check_unique categorization = Categorization.where(:category_id => self.category_id, :categorizable_id => self.categorizable_id, :categorizable_type => self.categorizable_type) if categorization.first categorization.first.increment(:count) end end

  • Override the default row error behavior for a DataGridView

    - by Pat
I have a DataGridView that is bound to a DataTable. When a row in the table has an error (row.RowError is not empty), the DGV helpfully displays an error icon and tooltip with the error text. Instead of, or in addition to, this behavior, I would like to change the entire row color. What event does the DGV subscribe to in order to handle errors and/or how can I override the DGV's default behavior?
