  • Can there be TEXT/BLOB columns in a table without filesort in MySQL?

    - by Tower
    Hi, I'm working on a database program and I noticed that when I'm doing queries with tables that have TEXT/BLOB columns, MySQL will use temp tables and use filesort. I'm not entirely sure when and how this happens, but are there cases where MySQL does not use filesort when there are BLOB/TEXT columns? Like if the sort column is type of VARCHAR() with an index?

  • Replace umlaute (äüö) for SEO link in rails - best way

    - by ole_berlin
    Hi, I'm using the permalink_fu plugin to create permalinks from titles. My problem is: If the title contains german characters, they are just replaced with '_'. What I need is something that replaces ä with ae ü with ue ö with oe I fount String.tr but the problem here is that it replaces 1 character with 1 replacement, so it would work for replacing é with e ø with o etc. Does anyone have a nice and clean solution for that? Thanks

  • Dependency Properties

    - by developer
    Hi All, Can anybody explain me what a dependency property is in WPF and what is its use. I know there are a lot of tutorials on google for it, but they teach how to create a dependency property. I am confused as to where I would use it. I mean will I use it in XAML? If anybody could explain me in simple terms, that would be great.

    Hi, I am developing a greeting card application for iPhone. I have an image as greeting card, where-in i should allow user to add his own text, which(text) appends to that greeting image and save it on the device. Is it possible and edit an image and add some text on top of the image and save the modified image in the device storage somewhere? If anybody knows the solution, please share your ideas. Thank you.

  • Correct usage(s) of const_cast<>

    - by ereOn
    Hi, As a common rule, it is very often considered a bad practice to use const_cast<>() in C++ code as it reveals (most of the time) a flaw in the design. While I totally agree with this, I however wonder what are the cases were using const_cast<>() is ok and the only solution. Could you guys please give me some examples you know/you encountered ? Thank you very much.

  • How remove node ID [nid:n] in NodeReference fields

    - by Snazzy
    Hi. This is the same question of this link: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1515722/removing-nidn-in-nodereference-autocomplete According with the first answer (Grayside) I've created my own module and activated. Then I create a new content, I look sth up in the nodereference field and finally select it - it works (Doesn't appear the [nid:n]). But, when I view/preview or save or edit the content, the [nid:n] appears again. Anybody can help me?

  • Searching strings C

    - by Skittles
    First time posting here so I'm sorry if I mess up. I need to search a string and return any strings containing the search data with the search data highlighted. If my string is Hi my name is and I searched name it would produce Hi my NAME is This is a quick code I wrote that works but it only works once. If I try and search again it seg faults. I was hoping someone could hint me at a better way to write this because this code is disgusting! void search(char * srcStr, int n){ int cnt = 0, pnt,i = 0; char tmpText[500]; char tmpName[500]; char *ptr, *ptr2, *ptrLast; int num; while(*(node->text+cnt) != '\0'){ //finds length of string cnt++; } for(pnt = 0; pnt < cnt; pnt++){ //copies node->text into a tmp string tmpText[pnt] = *(node->text+pnt); } tmpText[pnt+1] = '\0'; //prints up to first occurrence of srcStr ptr = strcasestr(tmpText, srcStr); for(num = 0; num < ptr-tmpText; num++){ printf("%c",tmpText[num]); } //prints first occurrence of srcStr in capitals for(num = 0; num < n; num++){ printf("%c",toupper(tmpText[ptr-tmpText+num])); } ptr2 = strcasestr((ptr+n),srcStr); for(num = (ptr-tmpText+n); num < (ptr2-tmpText); num++){ printf("%c",tmpText[num]); } while((ptr = strcasestr((ptr+n), srcStr)) != NULL){ ptr2 = strcasestr((ptr+n),srcStr); for(num = (ptr-tmpText+n); num < (ptr2-tmpText); num++){ printf("%c",tmpText[num]); } for(num = 0; num < n; num++){ printf("%c",toupper(tmpText[ptr-tmpText+num])); } ptrLast = ptr; } //prints remaining string after last occurrence for(num = (ptrLast-tmpText+n); num < cnt; num++){ printf("%c",tmpText[num]); } }
