  • Nhibernate Complex Type binding

    - by user329983
I have two oracle user defined types: Audit_Type – A normal object with two fields a string and a number Audit_Table_Type – A table of audit_types, (an array) I have a stored procedure that takes as a parameter an Audit_Table_Type. List<Audit_Type> table = new List<Audit_Type>(); var query = session.CreateSQLQuery("call Audit_Rows(Audit_Table_Type(:table))") .SetParameterList("table", table, NHibernateUtil.Custom(typeof(AuditTypeUDT))) This is what I did intuativly created the ICompositeType and just set in a list of them in but this gives me nothing close to what I wanted. I couldn’t figure out how to bind to a table at all. I have built the inline sql that would do this for me but it would destroy my shared pool (not using binds). So a General question how do I bind to complex/composite types using Nhibernate?

  • SQL query: how to translate IN() into a JOIN?

    - by tangens
I have a lot of SQL queries like this: SELECT o.Id, o.attrib1, o.attrib2 FROM table1 o WHERE o.Id IN ( SELECT DISTINCT Id FROM table1, table2, table3 WHERE ... ) These queries have to run on different database engines (MySql, Oracle, DB2, MS-Sql, Hypersonic), so I can only use common SQL syntax. Here I read, that with MySql the IN statement isn't optimized and it's really slow, so I want to switch this into a JOIN. I tried: SELECT o.Id, o.attrib1, o.attrib2 FROM table1 o, table2, table3 WHERE ... But this does not take into account the DISTINCT keyword. Question: How do I get rid of the duplicate rows using the JOIN approach?

  • get timestamp using OracleCachedRowSet

    - by chetan
    Code : OracleCachedRowSet rowSet = new OracleCachedRowSet(); ResultObject obj = new ResultObject(0,null); PreparedStatement pstat = connection.prepareStatement(strQry); rowSet.populate(pstat.executeQuery()); rowSet.beforeFirst(); while(rowSet.next()){ System.out.println("Conference name "+rowSet.getString(1)); System.out.println("StartTime "+rowSet.getTimestamp(5)) ; } When i run above code i got error like : java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column type at oracle.jdbc.rowset.OracleCachedRowSet.getTimestamp(OracleCachedRowSet.java:4399) at test.Test.main(Test.java:102) Same thing is working fine(check below correct code) if i use ResultSet instead of OracleCachedRowSet PreparedStatement pstat = connection.prepareStatement(strQry); ResultSet rset = pstat.executeQuery(); while(rset.next()){ System.out.println("Conference name "+rset.getString(1)); System.out.println("StartTime "+rset.getTimestamp(5)) ; } Is there any way to getTimestamp() using OracleCachedRowSet

  • How do I write raw binary data in Python?

    - by Chris B.
I've got a Python program that stores and writes data to a file. The data is raw binary data, stored internally as str. I'm writing it out through a utf-8 codec. However, I get UnicodeDecodeError: 'charmap' codec can't decode byte 0x8d in position 25: character maps to <undefined> in the cp1252.py file. This looks to me like Python is trying to interpret the data using the default code page. But it doesn't have a default code page. That's why I'm using str, not unicode. I guess my questions are: How do I represent raw binary data in memory, in Python? When I'm writing raw binary data out through a codec, how do I encode/unencode it?

  • Query two tables from different schema

    - by Guru
Hi- I have two different schemas in Oracle (say S1, S2). And two tables in those schemas(say S1.Table1, S2.Table2). I want to query these two tables from schema S1. Both S1 and S2 are in different databases. From DB1 - Schema S1, I want to do something like this, select T1.Id from S1.Table1 T1 , S2.Table2 T2 Where T1.Id = T2.refId I know one way of doing this would be creating a DB Link for the second schema and use it in querying. But sadly, I don't have priv to create DB link. Is there some way to do without DB link, like, in TOAD, you can compare two schema objects. But again, two schema objects and it is general comparision. Not like querying them. Any ideas, suggestions are greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

  • How to use SQL trigger to record the affected column's row number

    - by Freeman
I want to have an 'updateinfo' table in order to record every update/insert/delete operations on another table. In oracle I've written this: CREATE TABLE updateinfo ( rnumber NUMBER(10), tablename VARCHAR2(100 BYTE), action VARCHAR2(100 BYTE), UPDATE_DATE date ) DROP TRIGGER TRI_TABLE; CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER TRI_TABLE AFTER DELETE OR INSERT OR UPDATE ON demo REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD FOR EACH ROW BEGIN if inserting then insert into updateinfo(rnumber,tablename,action,update_date ) values(rownum,'demo', 'insert',sysdate); elsif updating then insert into updateinfo(rnumber,tablename,action,update_date ) values(rownum,'demo', 'update',sysdate); elsif deleting then insert into updateinfo(rnumber,tablename,action,update_date ) values(rownum,'demo', 'delete',sysdate); end if; -- EXCEPTION -- WHEN OTHERS THEN -- Consider logging the error and then re-raise -- RAISE; END TRI_TABLE; but when checking updateinfo, all rnumber column is zero. is there anyway to retrieve the correct row number?

  • What are the repercussions of not checking existing data when adding a foreign key?

    - by scottm
I've inherited a database that doesn't exactly strive for data integrity. I am trying to add some foreign keys to change that, but there is data in some tables that doesn't fit the constraints. Most likely, the data won't be used again so I want to know what problems I might face by leaving it there. The other option I see is to move it into some kind of table without referential constraints, just for historical purposes. So, what are the repercussions of not checking existing data? If I create a foreign key constraint on a table and don't check existing data, will all new data inserted into the table be enforced?

  • Is there a combination of "LIKE" and "IN" in SQL?

    - by Techpriester
Hi folks. In SQL I (sadly) often have to use "LIKE" conditions due to databases that violate nearly every rule of normalization. I can't change that right now. But that's irrelevant to the question. Further, I often use conditions like WHERE something in (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21) for better readability and flexibility of my SQL statements. Is there any possible way to combine these two things without writing complicated sub-selects? I want something as easy as WHERE something LIKE ('bla%', '%foo%', 'batz%') instead of WHERE something LIKE 'bla%' OR something LIKE '%foo%' OR something LIKE 'batz%' I'm working with MS SQl Server and Oracle here but I'm interested if this is possible in any RDBMS at all.

  • Accessing inter-schema tables and relations in hibernate

    - by nitesh
There is a typical situation being faced where different tables are scattered through different schemas in Oracle database and they are related to each other (encompassing all different types of relations). How can they be represented in Hibernate using annotations as when a sessionfactory handle is created for one schema, tables in that schema can't access other related tables (foreign key relation to tables in other schema)? For a query like following, exception is thrown - "from table1 as model where model.table2Name.table2column = "+foo Exception comes as - org.hibernate.QueryException: could not resolve property: table2column of: com.test.table1 [from com.test.table1 as model where model.table2Name.table2column = 1] Here table1 and table2 are present in different schemas.

  • database row/ record pointers

    - by David
Hi I don't know the correct words for what I'm trying to find out about and as such having a hard time googling. I want to know whether its possible with databases (technology independent but would be interested to hear whether its possible with Oracle, MySQL and Postgres) to point to specific rows instead of executing my query again. So I might initially execute a query find some rows of interest and then wish to avoid searching for them again by having a list of pointers or some other metadata which indicates the location on a database which I can go to straight away the next time I want those results. I realise there is caching on databases, but I want to keep these "pointers" else where and as such caching doesn't ultimately solve this problem. Is this just an index and I store the index and look up by this? most of my current tables don't have indexes and I don't want the speed decrease that sometimes comes with indexes. So whats the magic term I've been trying to put into google? Cheers

The problem is that i need to set the ApplicationContext on the connection given that the i am using oracle connection. I know how to create a connection and set the applicationContext on to it.. but the problem is that i don't know how to force hibernate to use the connection that i have created.. Please help..

  • Want to save data field from form into two columns of two models.

    - by vette982
I have a Profile model with a hasOne relationship to a Detail model. I have a registration form that saves data into both model's tables, but I want the username field from the profile model to be copied over to the usernamefield in the details model so that each has the same username. function new_account() { if(!empty($this->data)) { $this->Profile->modified = date("Y-m-d H:i:s"); if($this->Profile->save($this->data)) { $this->data['Detail']['profile_id'] = $this->Profile->id; $this->data['Detail']['username'] = $this->Profile->username; $this->Profile->Detail->save($this->data); $this->Session->setFlash('Your registration was successful.'); $this->redirect(array('action'=>'index')); } } } This code in my Profile controller gives me the error: Undefined property: Profile::$username Any ideas?

  • How the existing data to be if entity structure modified or deleted on GAE?

    - by Eonil
GAE recommends using JDO/JPA. But I have serious question about using OODB like them. JDO based on user's class structure. And data structure should be modified continually as service advances. So, If data(entity) class property being removed, what happened to existing data on the property? If data(entity) class renamed for refactoring reason, how the JDO know those renaming? Or all data loss? Major point is "How JDO/GAE/BigTable applies modification of class into existing entity structure and data?".

  • How to implement nested SQL transactions with ADO.NET?

    - by manza_jurjur
I need to implement nested transactions in .NET using ADO.NET. The situation is as follows: --> Start Process (Begin Transaction) --> Begin Transaction for step 1 --> Step 1 --> Commit transaction for step 1 --> Begin transaction for step 2 --> Step 2 --> Rollback transaction for step 2 --> etc ... --> End Process (Commit or Rollback ALL commited steps) Can that be done with transaction scopes? Could anyone post an example? In addition I'd need the prcoess to work for SQL Server 2005 AND Oracle 10g databases... will transaction scopes work with both database engines?

  • How to determine the radius and center of a circle when only three noncollinear points are known?

    - by Bob
I'm working on a C# program that deals with Oracle Spatial geometry. When circle data is stored in a geometry field only three non-collinear points are stored to represent the circle. The problem is that I need to use this data on a Google Maps web page and need the center point and radius of the circle (since my circle drawing function uses that information). Can anyone help with the math involved and translating said math to C#? I think this page may hold the answer, but I'm having a hard time following it. There are formulas for radius and center given three points, but then they define the variables as matrices and I get lost at that point. How would I solve that in code?

  • Are conditional subqueries optimized out, if the condition is false?

    - by Tobias Schulte
I have a table foo and a table bar, where each foo might have a bar (and a bar might belong to multiple foos). Now I need to select all foos with a bar. My sql looks like this SELECT * FROM foo f WHERE [...] AND ($param IS NULL OR (SELECT ((COUNT(*))>0) FROM bar b WHERE f.bar = b.id)) with $param being replaced at runtime. The question is: Will the subquery be executed even if param is null, or will the dbms optimize the subquery out? We are using mysql, mssql and oracle. Is there a difference between these regarding the above?

  • What's the most simple way to retrieve all data from a table and save it back in .NET 3.5?

    - by zoman
I have a number of tables containing some basic (business related) mapping data. What's the most simple way to load the data from those tables, then save the modified values back. (all data should be replaced in the tables) An ORM is out of question as I would like to avoid creating domain objects for each table. The actual editing of the data is not an issue. (it is exported into Excel where the data is edited, then the file is uploaded with the modified data) The technology is .NET 3.5 (ASP.NET MVC) and SQL Server 2005. Thanks.

  • How to enforce DB field size limit to related Java String?

    - by Sri Sankaran
What is the correct way to defend against trying to store more text than can be accommodated in a VARCHAR2 database field? Say the PARTNER_ROLE field of the REGISTRATIONS table is declared as VARCHAR2(80). This field is mapped in the Registration class in Java as public class Registration { @Column(name=”PARTNER_ROLE” length=”80”) private String partnerRole; } However, the setPartnerRole() method allows the user to stuff a string of any length. The problem is encountered only when one subsequently tries to insert or update the REGISTRATIONS record. Oracle complains. What is the correct way to handle this situation?

  • What's the most auditable way to organize database maintenance scripting/scheduling?

    - by RenderIn
I'm using PHP, Oracle and crontab. Crontab is invoking a php script, which is going to synchronize some data between a local and remote database. First I thought about putting this all in one large, anonymous inline PL/SQL block and executing it in PHP. The problem is that without creating a table to audit the procedure it's really opaque to my PHP code until it returns. And then when it does return, the best I can do is receive a string in an out parameter which I've concatenated together as an audit log. Then I considered breaking it up into several SQL statements and have PHP do some intermediate auditing/logging and manipulation of the data between each of them. I'm not really satisfied with either of these. How do you organize maintenance code that is called in a cronjob?

I have an URL to a location on the server where it can find teh report. The report works just fine if i manually refresh it. I tried using rc:ClearSession=TRUE and i also tried sending a random parameter, but the report is still not being refreshed. Any ideas? The main scenario: User eneters the page(with a grid view) User clicks on Export User sees the Report User deletes an entry from the page - grid view User clicks on Export again User sees the exact same report P.S. : The report query returns the data that should be displayed but the report returns the previous data.

  • Generating incremental numeric column values during INSERT SELECT statement

    - by Charles
I need to copy some data from one table to another in Oracle, while generating incremental values for a numeric column in the new table. This is a once-only exercise with a trivial number of rows (100). I have an adequate solution to this problem but I'm curious to know if there is a more elegant way. I'm doing it with a temporary sequence, like so: CREATE SEQUENCE temp_seq START WITH 1; INSERT INTO new_table (new_col, copied_col1, copied_col2) SELECT temp_seq.NEXTVAL, o.* FROM (SELECT old_col1, old_col2 FROM old_table) o; DROP SEQUENCE temp_seq; Is there way to do with without creating the sequence or any other temporary object? Specifically, can this be done with a self-contained INSERT SELECT statement? There are similar questions, but I believe the specifics of my question are original to SO.

  • Regex if-else expression

    - by craig
I'm trying to extract the # of minutes from a text field using Oracle's REGEXP_SUBSTR() function. Data: Treatment of PC7, PT1 on left. 15 min. 15 minutes. 15 minutes 15 mins. 15 mins 15 min. 15 min 15min 15 In each case, I'm hoping to extract the '15' part of the string. Attempts: \d+ gets all of the numeric values, including the '7' and '1', which is undesirable. (\d)+(?=\ ?min) get the '15' from all rows except the last. (?((\d)+(?=\ ?min))((\d)+(?=\ ?min))|\d+), an if-else statement, doesnt' match anything. What is wrong with my if-else statement?
