Hi,
Can anyone give a good explanation and / or links to a good resource of how hash codes are used in storing and retrieving objects in hashtables, dictionaries etc, specifically in C# / .NET.
I'm interested to see how Equals and GetHashCode are used collectively when storing and retrieving items.

How to do this in asp.net? Give me a idea to implement this in to my application.
i don't have idea from where. I have to start this.
This code, when built in .Net for Any CPU platform and running on a 64-bit machine, simply returns a DialogResult of Cancel without showing the expected dialog box.
Dim dlg As New System.Windows.Forms.PrintDialog
If dlg.ShowDialog() = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then
'... print the document '
End If
However, it works fine when the application is built for the x86 platform, and run on a 64-bit machine. How can you display the dialog with a 64-bit compile?
For eg..in Stackoverflow site, after giving answer, if we are refreshing the page, it displays the answer with orange color and turns to white beautifully?

Hello ...
I´m new to ORMs and I have a new project I´ll do in .Net MVC.
In the Model Layer I´ll create my classes: Videos and I´ll work with APIs as a DataLayer (BrightCove & YouTube APIs).
So, I dont have a Relational Database as a Data Layer. Is it possible to work with an ORM (as Subsonic)?
Thanks!

I've inherited a Visual Studio/VB.Net numerical simulation project that has a likely inefficient calculation. Profiling indicates that the function is called a lot (1 million times plus) and spends about 50% of the overall calculation within this function. Here is the problematic portion
Result = (A * (E ^ C)) / (D ^ C * B) (where A-C are local double variables and D & E global double variables)
Result is then compared to a threshold which might have additional improvements as well, but I'll leave them another day
any thoughts or help would be appreciated

In an ASP.NET project I have the following HTML:
<asp:PlaceHolder ID="plcTitle" runat="server"></asp:PlaceHolder>
<div id="divStrapline" runat="server" />
which are populated with this code:
if (this.TitlePanel != null)
{
plcTitle.Controls.Add(this.TitlePanel);
}
if (this.Strapline != null)
{
divStrapline.Controls.Add(this.Strapline);
}
Are they both the same thing? Is either better than the other? Why?
I would like to display the contents of a DataTable, divided into several groups depending on the value of one of the columns. So, if I have a DataTable (from SQL query) with:

I would like to place all records containing GroupID 1 in one div, all records with GroupID 2 in another div, and so on. How can I do this?

Let's assume you have a big complex index page, that shows news articles and stuff. It's not going to change very often. Can you cache it somehow on the serverside, so requests don't force to server to dynamically generate the entire page every time someone visits it? Or does ASP.NET do this automatically?
If so, how does it know if something has changed?
Lets say I have
class Person
{
public Person(int age, string name)
{
Age = age;
Name = name;
}
public int Age{get;set}
public string Name{get;set}
}
and I would like to create a method that accepts a string that contains either
"age" or "name" and returns an object with the value of that property.
Like the following pseudo code:
public object GetVal(string propName)
{
return <propName>.value;
}
How can I do this using reflection?
