  Hey Everybody I'm trying to understand better how windows sessions work, so if I have some weird mistakes in the question, please, let me know :-) . I use LsaEnumerateLogonSessions() to get all the logged on sessions in the system. Now I have LUID that represents a log-on, and if I understand correctly, it represents a user that logged on or a build it user like SYSTEM. Now, if user X starts a process, windows gives that process a token that represents X. So here comes my question: Is there a way (in a windows service) to get the user's token from LUID? I know I can get it from a process HANDLE, but that is not what I want... Thanks a lot!

• WinXP computer hangs at boot and then cycles to "F1, F2" screen

  I have a Dell desktop that is hanging at the Windows XP splash screen and eventually (after about 5 minutes) cycles to a "F1 to retry boot F2 to enter setup utility". I tried to start the computer in Safe Mode but it eventually cycles to the same "F1, F2" screen. What are the likely causes and what are the remedies?

• Can't connect my school laptop to my homegroup

  Well I've been trying quite a lot of things, it worked to connect through my other laptop which is not given by my school so there's nothing wrong with the homegroup itself. But I need a way to connect this "domain owned laptop" into my homegroup. It has IPv6 working, all the services are started and I've also deleted idstore.sst without success. • Tversity DNLA services with Xbox 360

  I'm hosting a Tversity instance on my Windows 2008 server and sharing some media. My PS3 detects this as a DNLA device and can play back the media just fine. Tversity shows up on my Xbox 360, but when i click on it, it just loads and loads and after a minute it times out and tells me it can't connect. Has anyone successfully gotten this working?

  I was rebooting a remote server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) over remote desktop and the session now shows the blue screen during the shutdown sequence, and the message "Please wait for the System Event Notification Service..." It seems that everything is still running on the server (for instance, http://jeffhandley.com is still responding), but I need to get the machine to finish the reboot sequence. How can I force the machine past this point? It's been stuck there for about 30 minutes.

• My firefox scrolling is jerky and very slow - how can I fix this?

  I have already turned 'smooth scrolling' on and have downloaded a plugin called 'smooth scrolling'. Whenever I scroll down, the browser movement is very jerky and slow. It is pretty much unusable. However, scrolling in a div with overflow: auto (like the related questions div above the question input textarea) scrolls fine. I am using Windows XP freshly installed with Firefox 3.5.1 Anyone have any solutions?

I think I was in the middle of typing the word "for" but whatever button I hit seemed to be the confirmation to shutdown the computer. • Why do scrollbars stop working when the mouse is too far away?

  Dragging a (Windows) scrollbar only works as long as the cursor is not too far away from the scrollbar itself. How can I 'fix' this bevaviour? Is there some kind of threshold in the registry? Tip: to see this behavior: click on a scrollbar (dont' release the mouse button) and move up/down. This works, as long as you don't move too much to the left.

  I have couple of windows 7 entprise virtual machines in collection as part of VDI environment - so users connecting to them through RDS 2012 web site. Is there any way to fix resolution of remote desktops, that user receives (instead of full screen all time) ? I've tried different group policies, but none of them are worked, probably because all those policies are for RDS sessions and not virtual desktops ... And i don't know how to limit resolution locally on win7 machine itself, so connecting users will receive fixed resolution.

But after every 30-40 mins of log-on the system automatically logs-off the current user (closing all the applications, ofcourse).   i had a failed SP1 install... now im stuck with the system trying (and failing) to finilize instalation @boot, the system after log-in thinks its SP1 SP1 uninstaller says it cant uninstall SP1 installer says allready installed SP2 installer says install SP1 is there a way to remove SP1 information, fool the system to think it doesnt have service pack and install it again ? i REALLY dont want to reinstall windows. that would suck so badly that id rather stick with this pre-SP1 relic...
