  • IE is losing ClearType

    - by Adis
I'm experiencing something really strange! I have a div that I'm hiding with JS (jQuery). Like this: $('#myDiv').hide(); Then when I make a fadeIn like this: $("#myDiv").fadeIn('slow'); then the text loses ClearType in IE but not in FF. If I go with toggle insted of fadeIn, then it's all fine. What is IE up to and is there any solutions for it because it looks horrible. (I have ClearType on as you maybe understand at this point)

  • IE attachEvent on object tag causes memory corruption

    - by larswa
I've an ActiveX Control within an embedded IE8 HTML page that has the following event MessageReceived([in] BSTR srcWindowId, [in] BSTR json). On Windows the event is registered with OCX.attachEvent("MessageReceived", onMessageReceivedFunc). Following code fires the event in the HTML page. HRESULT Fire_MessageReceived(BSTR id, BSTR json) { CComVariant varResult; T* pT = static_cast<T*>(this); int nConnectionIndex; CComVariant* pvars = new CComVariant[2]; int nConnections = m_vec.GetSize(); for (nConnectionIndex = 0; nConnectionIndex < nConnections; nConnectionIndex++) { pT->Lock(); CComPtr<IUnknown> sp = m_vec.GetAt(nConnectionIndex); pT->Unlock(); IDispatch* pDispatch = reinterpret_cast<IDispatch*>(sp.p); if (pDispatch != NULL) { VariantClear(&varResult); pvars[1] = id; pvars[0] = json; DISPPARAMS disp = { pvars, NULL, 2, 0 }; pDispatch->Invoke(0x1, IID_NULL, LOCALE_USER_DEFAULT, DISPATCH_METHOD, &disp, &varResult, NULL, NULL); } } delete[] pvars; // -> Memory Corruption here! return varResult.scode; } After I enabled gflags.exe with application verifier, the following strange behaviour occur: After Invoke() that is executing the JavaScript callback, the BSTR from pvars[1] is copied to pvars[0] for some unknown reason!? The delete[] of pvars causes a double free of the same string then which ends in a heap corruption. Does anybody has an idea whats going on here? Is this a IE bug or is there a trick within the OCX Implementation that I'm missing? If I use the tag like: <script for="OCX" event="MessageReceived(id, json)" language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> window.onMessageReceivedFunc(windowId, json); </script> ... the strange copy operation does not occur. The following code also seem to be ok due to the fact that the caller of Fire_MessageReceived() is responsible for freeing the BSTRs. HRESULT Fire_MessageReceived(BSTR srcWindowId, BSTR json) { CComVariant varResult; T* pT = static_cast<T*>(this); int nConnectionIndex; VARIANT pvars[2]; int nConnections = m_vec.GetSize(); for (nConnectionIndex = 0; nConnectionIndex < nConnections; nConnectionIndex++) { pT->Lock(); CComPtr<IUnknown> sp = m_vec.GetAt(nConnectionIndex); pT->Unlock(); IDispatch* pDispatch = reinterpret_cast<IDispatch*>(sp.p); if (pDispatch != NULL) { VariantClear(&varResult); pvars[1].vt = VT_BSTR; pvars[1].bstrVal = srcWindowId; pvars[0].vt = VT_BSTR; pvars[0].bstrVal = json; DISPPARAMS disp = { pvars, NULL, 2, 0 }; pDispatch->Invoke(0x1, IID_NULL, LOCALE_USER_DEFAULT, DISPATCH_METHOD, &disp, &varResult, NULL, NULL); } } delete[] pvars; return varResult.scode; } Thanks!

  • IE8 Developer Tools won't open

    - by Dave
Just installed IE8 on WinXP. Trying to use the Dev Tools but, clicking on the menu item or hitting F12 doesn't do anything. I can see the option in the tools menu, just can't use it. I've checked to make sure it wasn't opening minimized or off screen and I've checked the registry settings used to disable them. Those registry keys don't even exists. Suggestions? I was going to reinstall, but, thought I'd check here first.

  • How to use WatiN to control browser tabs?

    - by Dmitri Nesteruk
I want to use WatiN with IE in a parallel setting, i.e. work with dozens/hundreds of pages at once. I've tried sticking it into a Parallel. For loop only to see the whole thing crash, so I'm thinking opening multiple tabs in the browser is the way to go. Can someone suggest how this can be done using WatiN (or just some IE-related API) or whether there's a better way? TIA!

  • [URGENT] IE: ‘nodeType’ is null or not an object

    - by Patrick
hi, I'm having this issue on my website in IE (6,7,8): ‘nodeType’ is null or not an object The error refers to "f.nodeType" property. Basically f is undefined, so the issue is before, but I cannot fix it. Could you give me some help ? www.donatellabernardi.ch/drupal (from IE developer toolbar debug it appears to be this line that is throwing the error) (autocolumn.min.js line 13 expanded below for readability) function split($putInHere,$pullOutHere,$parentColumn, height){ if($pullOutHere.children().length){ $cloneMe=$pullOutHere.children(":first"); $clone=$cloneMe.clone(true); if($clone.attr("nodeType")==1&&!$clone.hasClass("dontend")){ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Chokes on $putInHere.append($clone); if($clone.is("img")&&$parentColumn.height()<height+20){ $cloneMe.remove(); }else if(!$cloneMe.hasClass("dontsplit")&&$parentColumn.height()<height+20){ $cloneMe.remove(); }else if($clone.is("img")||$cloneMe.hasClass("dontsplit")){ $clone.remove(); }else{ $clone.empty(); if(!columnize($clone,$cloneMe,$parentColumn, height)){ if($cloneMe.children().length){ split($clone,$cloneMe,$parentColumn, height); } } if($clone.get(0).childNodes.length==0){ $clone.remove(); } } } } } Thanks

  • Any serious problems when making an old java web app run on new IE 8 browser?

    - by pinichi

  • Make an image transparent in IE to show non-transparent background

    - by Select0r
Hi, I'm trying to get this thing to work in IE (any version - works in FF, Opera, Safari, Chrome ...): I have a DIV with a background-image. The DIV also contains an image that should be transparent onMouseOver. The expected behaviour now is that the DIV-background would shine through the transparent image (which it does in all browsers but IE). Instead it looks like the image is getting transparent but on a white background, I can't see the DIV's background through the image. Here's some code: <div><a href="#" class"dragItem"><img /></a></div> And some CSS: .dojoDndItemOver { cursor : pointer; filter : alpha(opacity = 50); opacity : 0.5; -moz-opacity : 0.5; -khtml-opacity : 0.5; } .dragItem:hover { filter : alpha(opacity = 30); opacity : 0.3; -moz-opacity : 0.3; -khtml-opacity : 0.3; background : none; } All of this is embedded in a Dojo Drag-n-Drop-system, so dojoDndItemOver will automatically be set to the DIV on MouseOver, dragItem is set to the href around the image (using the same class on the image directly doesn't work at all as IE doesn't support "hover" on other items that href). Any ideas? Or is it an IE-speciality to just "simulate" transparency on images by somehow just greying them out instead of providing real transparency and showing whatever is beneath?

  • IE Security Warning with widgets

    - by superexsl
Hey I'm creating an ASP.NET application which uses Facebook Connect and fbml tags. It also uses the LinkedIn widget. When I run this app in any browser, there are no warnings and everything works. However, in IE, a message like this comes up: Security Warning: The current webpage is trying to open a site in your Trusted sites list. Do you want to allow this? Current site:http://www.facebook.com Trusted site:http://localhost (same for LinkedIn.com). I know how to fix this from a client perspective and to stop the security warning showing up. However, is it possible to ensure this message doesn't come up as it could be off putting for users who don't know how to suppress this warning? I haven't tried uploading it to my webhost, so not sure if this message will appear for everyone in production. However, I always get it on my local machine. (None of my pages use SSL, so I don't think that's the issue. I tried using FB's HTTPS urls but that didn't make a difference). Thanks

  • Make two page navigations on top ang bottom of a list

    - by sees
I'm creating a simple PHP page that reads CSV file content and display some selected columns to users in pages Currently, I'm reading each line and display it immediately. Because of this method, I only know total of lines after finishing reading entire file( searching in file also). What I want is displaying two page navigations on the top and bottom of the list. Like this: Page 1|2|3|4 Field 1|Field 2|Field 3|Field 4|Field 5....|Field n Row1 Row2 .... Rown Page 1|2|3|4 After displaying all rows, bottom page nav, I used jquery function: insertBefore to insert another page navi to the top. Problems are: 1) Top page nav not displayed in IE8 but displayed ater pressing F5(worked in FF, Chrome). 2) Using insertBefore function, the top page nav is suddenly poppep up afer displaying the bottom one. It doesn't look naturally Any suggestion?

  • How to upload a file with watir and IE?

    - by karlthorwald
I am writing a watir script to test an upload form. But the script does not automatically choose the file that is to be uploaded from my harddrive. Instead IE stops with the file chooser dialog open. As soon as I manually select the to be uploaded file in the dialog and click ok, watir continues as desired. I wonder why it stops. This is from my watir script: ie.file_field(:name, 'upload').set("s:\\localwatir\\Test_Pdf.pdf") ie.button(:name, 'submit').click I got the code from this page: http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/File+Uploads This is the form: <form name="form1" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post" action="uploadlegacy.php"> <input type="file" name="upload" size="30"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="upload"> </form> I have found this manual http://svn.openqa.org/svn/watir/trunk/watir/unittests/filefield_test.rb also, but as I do not know what $htmlRoot stands for, I cannot really follow it. Does that mean, I have to put some "file///" into the parameter for set()? If so, how exactly? I am using IE 6 for the testing.

  • jQuery click event on IE7-8, does not execute on the div, only on its text

    - by user3665301
I have a problem using the jQuery click event with IE7-8-9. I apply the event on a div. But on these two IE versions, I have to click on the text contained within the div to make the event work. I don't understand because it was still normally working on these versions until I made a few changes (like adding the font css properties) but when I try to delete these changes it stil does not work as I want; Here is a jsfiddle illustrating the situation and its full screen result. http://jsfiddle.net/rC632/ function clickEvent(){ $('.answerDiv').click(function(){ $( "div:animated" ).stop(); if ( idPreviousClick === $(this)[0].id) { } else { if (idPreviousClick != -1) { $("#"+idPreviousClick).css({height:'100px', width:'100px', top:'0', 'line-height': '100px'}); $("#"+idPreviousClick).parent().css({height:'100px', width:'100px', top:'0'}); } $(this).animate({height:'120px', width:'120px', 'line-height': '120px'}); $(this).parent().animate({height:'120px', width:'120px', top:'-10px'}); idPreviousClick = $(this)[0].id; } }); } $(document).ready(function(){ clickEvent(); }); var idPreviousClick = -1; http://jsfiddle.net/rC632/embedded/result/ Could you have any idea of what is missing ? • How to determine direction of navigation from IE WebBrowser (IHtmlWindow2 or Javascript)

    - by Geoff Cox
I'm uisng the WPF Web Browser control and when it fires the Navigating event, the event args always contain NavigationMode.New. It should be set to NavigationMode.Back if the user chooses to 'Go Back' from the web control. So its off to the COM ActiveX control underneath to determine the direction of navigation. I've been looking at IHtmlWindow2 and IHtmlDocument2 and IOmHistory, but don't see anything that happens on navigation to tell me if the navigation is caused by going back, forward, a new address, or a refresh. Since IHtmlWindow and Javascript have the same DOM, maybe someone knows how from Javascript. I've also been looking at the IWebBrowser2 interface, but can't find anything there either. Is there an event or property I need to inspect?

  • Named Function Expressions in IE, part 2

    - by Polshgiant
I asked this question a while back and was happy with the accepted answer. I just now realized, however, that the following technique: var testaroo = 0; (function executeOnLoad() { if (testaroo++ < 5) { setTimeout(executeOnLoad, 25); return; } alert(testaroo); // alerts "6" })(); returns the result I expect. If T.J.Crowder's answer from my first question is correct, then shouldn't this technique not work?

  • Changing a form's action attribute in IE?

    - by Jonatan Littke
Hey. I'm trying to set a hash value in a form's action, to keep it when the form is submitted. Firefox allows me to update the hash and redirects accordingly, but IE doesn't. I initially thought this was related to IE not allowing hash values in the action attribute at all, but it seems I can't dynamically set the action at all in IE - with a hash or not? Is that right? I'm using the following jQuery: $("#options-form").attr('action', '#' + hash); To update: <form id="options-form" action="" method="get"> (On a sidenote, this wasn't needed in Firefox, because FF appears to preserve the current hash if it was only the GET params that changed.)

  • Solve the IE select overlap bug

    - by Vincent Robert
When using IE, you cannot put an absolutely positioned div over a select input element. That's because the select element is considered an ActiveX object and is on top of every HTML element in the page. I already saw people hiding selects when opening a popup div, that leads to pretty bad user experience having controls disappearing. FogBugz actually had a pretty smart solution (before v6) of turning every select into text boxes when a popup was displayed. This solved the bug and tricked the user eye but the behavior was not perfect. Another solution is in FogBugz 6 where they no more use the select element and recoded it everywhere. Last solution I currently use is messing up the IE rendering engine and force it to render the absolutely positioned div as an ActiveX element too, ensuring it can live over a select element. This is achieved by placing an invisible iframe inside the div and styling it with: #MyDiv iframe { position: absolute; z-index: -1; filter: mask(); border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0; top: 0; left: 0; width: 9999px; height: 9999px; overflow: hidden; } Anyone has a even better solution than this one ? EDIT: The purpose of this question is as much informative as it is a real question. I find the iframe trick to be a good solution but I am still looking for improvement like removing this ugly useless iframe tag that degrade accessibility.

  • CurvyCorners in Wordpress Theme only rounds some corners in IE - what am I doing wrong?

    - by user346602
Hi, I'm implementing the CurvyCorners script on a blog I'm developing. The script works in IE on some parts of the blog, but not others. I've used the following code to add it to the functions.php file (as suggested by someone smarter than me): function load_curvy_corners() { wp_enqueue_script('curvycorners', get_bloginfo('stylesheet_directory') .'/scripts /curvycorners.src.js','','',true); } add_action('init', 'load_curvy_corners'); Here is the site I'm working on: http://www.bellissimafashions.com/blog/ The container and logo area appear rounded in IE, but the navigation area is still square and seems to take awhile to load now. I don't know if this has something to do with the fact the theme I'm using (Pure II by beathemes) has placed the left side in the footer.php?

  • InternetExplorer.Application object and cookie container

    - by Darin Dimitrov
I have the following console application written in VB.NET: Sub Main() Dim ie As Object = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") ie.Visible = True ie.Navigate2("http://localhost:4631/Default.aspx") End Sub This program uses the InternetExplorer.Application automation object to launch an IE window and navigate a given url. The problem that I encountered is that even if I launch multiple instances of my application, the IE windows that are created with this method all share the same cookie container. Is there any parameter I could use specifying that a different cookie container is created for every window? This is the web page I used to test cookies: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <script runat="server"> protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Store something into the session in order to create the cookie Session["foo"] "bar"; Response.Write(Session.SessionID); } </script> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"></form> </body> </html>

  • IE8 AJAX GET setRequestHeaders not working unless params provided in URL

    - by bobthabuilda
I'm trying to create an AJAX request in IE8. var xhr = new ActiveXObject( 'Msxml2.XMLHTTP' ); xhr.open( 'GET', '/ajax/' ); // Required header for Django to detect AJAX request xhr.setRequestHeader( 'X-Requested-With', 'XMLHttpRequest' ); xhr.onreadystatechange = function() { if ( this.readyState == 4 ) console.log(this.responseText); } xhr.send( null ); This works perfectly fine in Firefox, Chrome, Safari. In IE8 however, all of my AJAX test requests work EXCEPT for ones where I'm performing GETs without any query string params (such as the one above). POSTs work without question, and GET requests only work whenever I include query strings in the URL, like this: xhr.open( 'GET', '/ajax/?foo=bar' ) I'm also 110% positive that my server code is handling these requests appropriately, so, this stumps me completely. Does anyone have any clue as to what might be causing this?

  • wrap text around image IE

Is there another way to wrap text around an image? Or is that just not possible for IE yet?... Great wrap example in firefox but not so great in IE: http://jwf.us/projects/jQSlickWrap/example1.html There is this manuel way to create div's but in my case that is a no-go since it is multible images uploaded by a webmaster. • CSS Menu disappear

    - by WtFudgE
Hi, I created a menu in html/css but where I wanted the subitems to be shown on parent item hover. The problem is when I hover on it in IE it only shows it's subitems when I hover on the text in the menu item, If I hover over the element and not the text the subitems disappear again. So if I hover and want to move my mouse to my submenu the submenu disappears unless I'm fast enough. This is very annoying, does anyone know how I can solve this? MY menu code is like so: <ul id="leftnav"> Item1 SubItem1 SubItem2 SubItem3 Item2 SubItem1 SubItem2 SubItem3 The menu should be a left sided menu which shows it's subitems only on hover, so I used css to achieve this with the following code: #leftnav, #leftnav ul { padding: 0; margin: 0; } #leftnav ul li { margin-left: 102px; position: relative; top: -19px; /*sets the childitems on the same height as the parent item*/ } #leftnav li { float: left; width: 100px; } #leftnav ul { position: absolute; width: 100px; left: -1000px; /*makes it disappear*/ } #leftnav li:hover ul, #leftnav li.ie_does_hover ul { left: auto; } #leftnav a { display: block; height: 15px; margin-top: 2px; margin-bottom: 2px; } Since this only works with firefox I also had to insert a javascript to get this to work in IE using code: <script language="JavaScript"> sfHover = function() { var sfElsE = document.getElementById("leftnav").getElementsByTagName("LI"); for (var i=0; i<sfElsE.length; i++) { sfElsE[i].onmouseover=function() { this.className+=" ie_does_hover"; } sfElsE[i].onmouseout=function() { this.className=this.className.replace(new RegExp(" ie_does_hover\\b"), ""); } } } if (window.attachEvent) window.attachEvent("onload", sfHover); </script> Many many many thanks for replies

  • IE positioning problems

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
In every browser but IE, on euroworker.no/order the little green arrow under the word "produkt" sits on top of my div container. Why in the world does this not work in IE? Thing is, it works on two pages out of four in IE but all four in other browsers. • jQuery .animate() not animating backgroundPosition in IE

    - by mikemike
I'm trying to animate a background image to move down a set amount of pixels but remain in the center of the page. Upon another click of an element I need it to move back to the top, but still remain in the center. Below is the current code: $(document).ready(function() { $('#email_campaigns').click(function(){ var width = $(window).width(); width = (width / 2) - 700; if($('#email_campaigns_box').css('display') == 'none'){ //$('body').css('background-position','center 119px'); $('body').animate({ backgroundPosition: (width + "px 119px") }, {duration:500}); } else { //$('body').css('background-position','center top'); $('body').animate({ backgroundPosition: (width + "px 0px") }, {duration:500}); } $('#email_campaigns_box').slideToggle("slow"); $('#client_login_box').slideUp("slow"); }); $('#client_login').click(function(){ var width = $(window).width(); width = (width / 2) - 700; alert(width); if($('#client_login_box').css('display') == 'none'){ //$('body').css('background-position','center 119px'); $('body').animate({ backgroundPosition: (width + "px 119px") }, {duration:500}); } else { //$('body').css('background-position','center top'); $('body').animate({ backgroundPosition: (width + "px 0px") }, {duration:500}); } $('#client_login_box').slideToggle("slow"); $('#email_campaigns_box').slideUp("slow"); }); }); I cannot pass 'center', as it will onyl accept numeric values. My goal is to calulate the center of the page in pixels (width = (width / 2) - 700;), and then animate to this rough position (it's normally out by a few pixels due to scrollbars, and then force to the center using a .css() call. The problem is that IE does not want to play ball. IE will not animate at all. Firefox/Safari/Chrome all work as expected. Below is a live example: http://recklessnewmedia.com/new/# (click 'email campaigns' at the top). Thanks
