  • Anchor tag issue in FF; targeting hidden div...

    - by Biff
Hello! I'm having an issue with Firefox and anchor links from an external page to a tab div on the landing page; while IE render these correctly (I know, that means little), FF and Chrome both send the user to a place somewhat above or below the actual anchor tag. I didn't write the original code, but I'm not able to find much about a FF bug that would cause this, or a solution? • Pie chart of *nix shell use [closed]

    - by hayk.mart
I've encountered a situation where it would be very helpful to know the breakdown of shell use by percentage. For example, I'm looking for something like bash: X%, sh: Y%, csh, tcsh, zsh, ksh, dash, etc.. Obviously, I know there are several complications - multiple shells, the definition of "use", uncertainty and so forth, but I would like to see an informed answer derived from actual data and based on some stated metric, even if the result could be horribly wrong. Bonus if there is historical data demonstrating a shift in preferences.

  • Getting a substring in Ruby by x number of chars

    - by wotaskd
I'm trying to produce some Ruby code that will take a string and return a new one, with a number x number of characters removed from its end - these can be actual letters, numbers, spaces etc. Ex: given the following string a_string = "a1wer4zx" I need a simple way to get the same string, minus - say - the 3 last digits. In the case above, that would be "a1wer". The way I'm doing it right now seems very convoluted: an_array = a_string.split(//,(a_string.length-2)) an_array.pop new_string = an_array.join Any ideas?

  • Binding to element in WPF: can the Path expression do math?

    - by John
Hi I'm trying to bind a control to the parent's Height/width property using ElementName and a Path. However, I don't want to bind to the actual height, but to exactly half the height. Can the Path expression do the math? e.g. Path={ActualHeight/2} I couldn't find a way to do that. IS there any other clever approach? Thanks!

  • Convert numbers to enumeration of strings in bash

    - by User1
Using bash, I have a list of strings that I want to use to replace an int. Here's an example: day1=Monday day2=Tuesday day3=Wednesday day4=Thursday day5=Friday day6=Saturday day7=Sunday If I have an int, $dow, to represent the day of the week, how do I print the actual string? I tried this: echo ${day`echo $dow`} but get error of "bad substitution". How do I make this work? Note: I can change the $day variables to a list or something.

  • Making a screensaver

    - by user1718744
No, I'm not talking about making a slideshow of pictures. How can I make the actual file that windows (at least windows 7) uses for screensavers? It is a .scr format, and when I opened it in Notepad, I got a bunch of symbols, with a few words scattered throughout, but that was expected. It looks like it was made with directx, xml, and even assembly (for the shaders) based on the recognizable code there. I just went on to a site-hosting place and made this: Link to ribbons.scr code

  • Stored Procedure in postgresql, multiple queries w/ agreggates.

    - by fenix
I'm trying to write a store procedure that can take some input parameters (obviously), run multiple queries against those, taking the output from those and doing calculations, and from those calculations and the original queries, outputting a formatted text string like: Number of Rows for max(Z) matching condition x and y of total rows matching x (x&y/x*100). To explain the max(Z) bit, this will be the username field, it won't matter which actual entry is picked, because the where clause will filter the results by user id, is there a saner way to do this?

  • Implementing GetHashCode

    - by dotnetdev
Hi, What constitutes a good implementation of the GetHashCode method? I did some googling, and found some goodlines (MSDN) but it seems like the logic just manipulates two numbers stored as fields in the class. Is the actual logic this simple to implement this method?

  • Is this a correct syntax (c code found on wikipedia)?

    - by m4design
I just found this code on wikipedia. Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sizeof#Use The code: /* the following code illustrates the use of sizeof * with variables and expressions (no parentheses needed), * and with type names (parentheses needed) */ char c; printf("%zu,%zu", sizeof c, sizeof(int)); It states that: "The z prefix should be used to print it, because the actual size can differ on each architecture." I tried it on my compiler, but it gives the following result: 'zu,zu'
