The .Focus() function will not work in Windows Server 2003. Is there any thing i can do to make it work?
WScript.Sleep 1000
.getElementByID("quickSearchMsisdn").value = "085729916"
WScript.Sleep 1000
.getElementByID("quickSearchMsisdn").value = "0857299167"
WScript.Sleep 1000

We have a program which launches a child process that hosts a local COM server, which for various reasons must be launched elevated. Everything works fine so long as both the parent and the child process are elevated.
However, we also want to run when the parent process is non-elevated. Launching the child process results in a UAC dialog (which is acceptable), and the child appears to start correctly and successfully calls CoRegisterClassObject. However, the parent process gets REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG when calling CoCreateInstance with the same CLSID.
I assume this is some sort of permissions issue. How can I register my class in the elevated server to allow it to be called from a non-elevated process.
Hi!
Does anyone have a real-world experience in building such a project? I'd like to move away questions about "is it good idea or not", but focus on possible solutions. I see one simple way - HTTP GET/POST + xml/json - and one more elegant - AJAX/DWR. As for the first one - I understand that it is possible, but needs quite a lot coding. As for second way - is it possible to use Java DWR engine with PHP front-end? Is DWR language-independent for client side (as it uses just JavaScript)?
Would it be a problem, that client page was generated by one web server (for example, apache+php) and served on server-side by another (for example, tomcat)? I suspect, that Tomcat will complain about sessions. Can this problem be fixed with allowing cross-domain AJAX?
Thank you in advance.
Denis.
SQL Server doesn't allow creating an view with schema binding where the view query uses OpenQuery as shown below.
Is there a way or a walk-around to create an index on such a view?
For example, the users of our app want to search products by entering a keyword of productName.
The Products table of the sql server database contains about 10 million records.
Is there any better and higher-performance search method implement instead of productName.Contains("keyword") using asp.net C# ?
I need to study about load-balancers, such as Network Load Balancing, Linux Virtual Server, HAProxy,...There're somethings under-the-hood I need to know:
What algorithms/technologies are used in these load-balancers? Which is the most popular? most effective?
I expect that these algorithms/technologies will not be too complicated. Are there some resources written about them?
Thank you very much for your help.
I have to write a UDP client. Unfortunately, the source system is not always available
Is there a simple tool out there that I can use to create a fake UDP server/traffic on my machine?
We want to use the Entity Framework (.NET 4.0) to build applications that can deal with Sql Server, MySQL and Oracle. And maybe Sqlite too.
It should be easy to switch the db vendor by some setting in a config file.
Is this possible? I prefer real life examples!
What kind of providers did you use?

What's needed:
To move several directories between two Windows 2008 servers on a regular basis.
Due to security requirements, neither server is supposed to have network shares set up or extraneous software installed.
What's available:
Administrator access to both machines (including remote desktop access if that helps).
A third machine with:
Visual Studio 2010
Cygwin
Bonus extras
The script that does the rest of the work (apart from moving the files) is currently written in F#, but any .net/command line based solution would be fine.
How can I refresh the tab in Visual Studio for a database table? Currently I re-open the table but I would think there is a way to refresh the table. I am referring to tables opened via the Server Explorer/SQL Express.
The clear results does not seem to refresh.
Hi all,
For a new project, we need to use WF 4.0 for deploying and running workflows. Instead of hosting workflows within the application itself, we decided to implement a server-side component that is in charge of running workflows.
Before WF 4.0, one had explicit access to the the runtime engine (WorkflowRuntime), which provided some basic management functionalities, such as retrieving the workflows currently running etc ... As far as I could find out, WF 4.0 lacks this explicit access, as workflows are created via the WorkflowInstance class and no reference is immediately available to the WorkflowRuntime ...
If I need these management functionalities on the server side, I'm a correct that I will need to implement these myself? Or did I miss out on something ...
Thanks in advance for your answers!
I work as a freelance web dev, and up until now have been ftping my scripts / databases / static files to my web server manually, but I'm finding that is too error prone. So I'm looking for an app to automate uploading new and updated scripts / files / databases / etc. I know a lot of independent devs use WinSCP or Unison, but I don't think those apps can synch databases.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? It doesn't need to be anything overly feature rich as I'm not working within a team or across multiple operating systems or anything like that. I can purchase any reasonably priced license if necesary. My work is primarily for PHP / MySQL / Apache on a Windows system, and then uploaded to a Linux / Apache server.
thanks for your time!

In reference to this question that I just asked, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2451579/sql-select-all-when-filter-value-is-empty, it appears that for some reason, an empty text box's value is not being fed to SQL Server as NULL, as it ought to be. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi,
I am currently working on a project for a company with a Ubuntu LAMP server set up. All the workstations are on Windows XP/Vista. What we are trying to do is create a program to track parts in our warehouse. Server side would be programmed in PHP. However, I was thinking about using C# on the workstation side.
Is this possible? If so, is this practical? What kind of problems could arise from something like this?
I want to create a rotating logic in sql like consider there are 3 numbers 1,2,3 then first week 1,2 will be selected next 3,1 next 2,3 and so on..... if there are 4 numbers 1,2,3,4 then 1,2 next 3,4 next 1,2 so on... Like that i want to generate the numbers in sql server. Please help me.
I have a portal development work in process... I had some troubles time to time like losing, overwriting wrong files, etc... So I decided to go for Mercurial for this development. My first experience with Source Control.
I work on server [bluehost] for this project, is there any way to keep update backups at local? Do I have to setup Mercurial to Bluehost? any way to sync changes on server to my local mac?
I'm building a very simple ASP.NET MVC site that doesn't require a database and doesn't have user accounts or any other special ASP.NET stuff. When I first created the site with the ASP.NET MVC 1.0 site template in Visual Studio, the web.config page was configured to automatically connect to SQL Server Express as a User Instance.
Can I completely remove this dependency? If so, how do I get rid of all this database stuff?
