  • What can lead to a zone memory exhaustion and how Nginx reacts to it?

    - by Miles Hughes
What is a possible scenario for exhausting the memory designated to a connection zone with limit_conn_zone directive and what are the implication in this case? Suppose I have this in my configuration: http { limit_conn_zone $binary_remote_addr zone=connzone:1m; ... server { limit_conn connzone 5; which, according to the documentation, allocates 16000 states for connzone on a 64-bit server. It also says that If the storage for a zone is exhausted, the server will return error 503 (Service Temporarily Unavailable) to all further requests. Well, Ok. But what does it mean on practice? When does this happen? Who receives those 503s? Does it mean that if the number of IPs somehow associated with connzone hits 16000 everyone gets a 503 and it's all over? How does Nginx decide? The documentation is weirdly vague on this. So, considering the example config, who would actually get a 503 and under which circumstances and how would things go from there? Same with request zones?

  • Select and Insert across dblink

    - by Domtar
I am having a bit of trouble with a select into insert across a dblink in oracle 10. I am using the following statement: INSERT INTO LOCAL.TABLE_1 ( COL1, COL2) SELECT COL1, COL2 FROM REMOTE.TABLE1@dblink s WHERE COL1 IN ( SELECT COL1 FROM WORKING_TABLE) When I run the statement the following is what gets run against the remote server on the DB Link: SELECT /*+ OPAQUE_TRANSFORM */ "COL1", "COL2" FROM "REMOTE"."TABLE1" "S" If I run the select only and do not do the insert into the following is run: SELECT /*+ */ "A1"."COL1" , "A1"."COL2" FROM "REMOTE"."TABLE1" "A1" WHERE "A1"."COL1" = ANY ( SELECT "A2"."COL1" FROM "LOCAL"."TABLE1"@! "A2") The issue is in the insert case the enitre table is being pulled across the dblink and then limited localy which takes a fair bit of time given the table size. Is there any reason adding the insert would change the behavior in this manner?

  • ORA-22835 using JPA (Buffer too small)

    - by Kenneth
I am trying to persist an Entity with a @Lob annotated String field. The content of that fiels if bigger than the 40k buffer size limit. The first problem I had was related to the setString method used internally by the JPA implementation (Hibernate in my case) and the Oracle JDBC Driver. This problem was solved adding <property name="hibernate.connection.SetBigStringTryClob" value="true"/> to my persistence.xml file. Then, the error changed to a ORA-22835 error (the buffer is too small). ¿Is there any way that JPA solves this problem without going to a low-level implementation? ¿Any suggestions?

  • Entity Framework - Why does EF use LEFT OUTER JOIN's in a 1-to-1 join?

    - by Taylor L
    Why does .NET Entity Framework produce SQL that uses a subquery and left outer join on a simple 1-to-1 relationship? I expected to see a simple join on the two tables. I'm using Devart Dotconnect for Oracle. Any ideas? Below is the output I see courtesy of the EFTracingProvider: SELECT 1 AS C1, "Join1".USER_ID1 AS USER_ID, ... FROM "MY$NAMESPACE".MYTABLE1 "Extent1" INNER JOIN (... FROM "MY$NAMESPACE".MYTABLE2 "Extent2" LEFT OUTER JOIN "MY$NAMESPACE".MYTABLE1 "Extent3" ON "Extent2".OTHER_ID = "Extent3".OTHER_ID ) "Join1" ON "Extent1".OTHER_ID = "Join1".OTHER_ID1 WHERE "Extent1".USER_ID = :EntityKeyValue1 -- EntityKeyValue1 (dbtype=String, size=6, direction=Input) = "000000"

  • migrating from mysql to oracle9i.Equivalent create table syntax

    - by Android_Crazy
Hi Following is the syntax for creating table in mysql. I want to create table with same properties in oracle9i. Can anyone provide me the equivalent syntax for oracle? • How do you execute Data Synchronizations between EPMA applications programmatically?

    - by Curtis Inderwiesche
I would like to schedule a batch job in which a can execute a move of data between two workspace application in Hyperion Fusion Edition for Oracle. The tool provided is called 'Data Synchronization' This tool allows for this type if activity to occur upon request via the workspace environment. How might I do this automatically? I noticed there is a Batch Scheduler for which I can request command line batch file to run at a pre-specified time. However, I do not know what resources are available to show me how to do this for the Data-Synchronizations.

  • Can Hibernate automatically uppercase a column on read/insert via configuration?

    - by T Reddy
We have some columns with data that must always be in uppercase to ensure uniqueness. I was wondering if hibernate can force all such columns to uppercase via some configuration file change? We actually use a custom UserType for encrypting/decrypting column data for some other table, but I figured that would be overkill just to uppercase everything... Alternatively, I was thinking about modifying the models such that all getters/setters will uppercase any string coming and going. The worst(?) case scenario is to modify the Oracle column constraint to ignore case while checking uniqueness. Any thoughts?

  • pl/sql object types "ORA-06530: Reference to uninitialized composite" error

    - by mutoss
hi, i have a type as follows: CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE tbusiness_inter_item_bag AS OBJECT ( item_id NUMBER, system_event_cd VARCHAR2 (20), CONSTRUCTOR FUNCTION tbusiness_inter_item_bag RETURN SELF AS RESULT ); CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE BODY tbusiness_inter_item_bag AS CONSTRUCTOR FUNCTION tbusiness_inter_item_bag RETURN SELF AS RESULT AS BEGIN RETURN; END; END; when i execute the following script, i got a "Reference to uninitialized composite" error, which is imho quite suitable. DECLARE item tbusiness_inter_item_bag; BEGIN item.system_event_cd := 'ABC'; END; This also raises the same error: item.item_id := 3; But if i change my object type into: CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE tbusiness_inter_item_bag AS OBJECT ( item_id NUMBER(1), system_event_cd VARCHAR2 (20), CONSTRUCTOR FUNCTION tbusiness_inter_item_bag RETURN SELF AS RESULT ); then the last statement raises no more error (where my "item" is still uninitialized): item.item_id := 3; Shouldn't i get the same ORA-06530 error? ps: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi

  • PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "end-of-file" in simple update block

This appears to be a rather simple statement. If it helps any, I had a similar statement that performed an INSERT which used to work, but today has been giving me the same message.

  • Java Date Hibernate cut off time

    - by Vlad
Hi folks, I have a Date type column in Oracle DB and it contains date and time for sure. But when I'm trying to get data in java application it will return date with bunch of zeros instead of real time. In code it'll be like: SQLQuery sqlQuery = session.createSQLQuery("SELECT table.id, table.date FROM table"); List<Object[]> resultArray = sqlQuery.list(); Date date = (Date)resultArray[1]; If it was 26-feb-2010 17:59:16 in DB I'll get 26-feb-2010 00:00:00 How to get it with time?

  • passing value of sqlplus variable from one script to another.

    - by FrustratedWithFormsDesigner
I have a script that gets the current time, and must pass it to another script. variable v_s_time varchar2(30); exec :v_s_time := to_char(sysdate,'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS AM'); --Lots of unrelated code here variable v_e_time varchar2(30); exec :v_e_time := to_char(sysdate,'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS AM'); @"test report script.sql" :v_s_time :v_e_time; --yes, I also tried ":v_s_time", didn't seem to do anything. This does not work, it seems that the literal :v_s_time is passed to the script, instead of what I want: "2010-04-14 05:50:01 PM". To execute this manually, I could enter: @"test report script.sql" "2010-04-14 05:50:01 PM" "2010-04-14 05:57:34 PM" I found that what does work is this: define v_s_time = "2010-04-14 05:50:01 PM" --Lots of unrelated code here define v_e_time = "2010-04-14 05:57:34 PM" @"test report script.sql" "&&v_s_time" "&&v_e_time"; But it is unrealistic to hardcode the datetimes. Anyone know how to handle this? (Oracle 10g)

  • Change Large Number of Record Keys using Map Table

    - by Coyote
I have a set of records indexed by id numbers, I need to convert these record's indexes to a new id number. I have a two column table mapping the old numbers to the new numbers. For example given these two tables, what would the update statement look like? Given: OLD_TO_NEW oldid | newid ----------------- 1234 0987 7698 5645 ... ... and id | data ---------------- 1234 'yo' 7698 'hey' ... ... Need: id | data ---------------- 0987 'yo' 5645 'hey' ... ... This oracle so I have access to PL/SQL, I'm just trying to avoid it.

  • Better way to set unix permissions when deploying war file

    - by Chris G
We have a vendor application where we download their updates and deploy a war file. We are deploying the war file on a unix application server running oracle application server 9i. I believe when we deploy the war file, we remove the previous install and then deploy the new war file. When we deploy the war file, sometimes we have to manually set the unix file permissions for the class and other files. We do this so all the unix user ids can run the processes they need. Is there a better way to do this?

  • orale clients dead wait

    - by Macroideal
hi all friends I meet a problem yestoday...maybe it's becoz it is april 1st... but it did exist. here i begin clarifying: i have 3 pcs in remote area..2 clients and 1 oracle server.. my app is running seperately in the two clients hourly connecting to the oracles,,my clients worked well be4 April 1th, but suddenly my app in the clients mechines went down...first i did not change any configurations.... i used libsqlora8 to connect the server...I went into a dead loop in the library...I tried sqlplus, but it dead there in my shell terminal, like it meets a infinite loop....no return until i pressed ctrl + c, the reason i guess is "infinite loop" somewhere..... btw, when i used my local pc to connect the server, it worked well...just from this phenomenon, wen can see the is problems lie in the client mechines..and i check the configuration file both in local mechine and client mechines..they are identical have you met a problem like this.... I dont hope it's frank of April 1st

  • Lot of time spent with following waits 'SQL*Net message from client' and 'wait for unread message on

    - by Shravan
My application that wraps around Oracle Data pump's executables IMPDP and EXPDP takes random amounts of time for the same work. On further investigation, I see it waiting for again random amounts of time with the event 'wait for unread message on broadcast channel'. This makes the application take anytime b/w 10 minutes to over an hour for the same work. I fail to understand if this has something to do with the way my application uses these executables, or it has got something to do with Load on my server or something totally alien to me.

  • Using memtables in sql. When is it reasonable and is it safe?

    - by Spiros
I was just reading an update from a friend's project, mentioning the use of memtables to store data temporatily and then flush to a table on disk. Up to now, I have never faced a situation where I would use a memtable, or a situation where I would think the use of a mem table would be beneficial; so I wonder, when would someone use mem tables? what makes a memtable (appart from access speed) a reasonable choice? and how safe is it, even for temp data? there is always the limitation of available physical memory.

  • Select from table and function

    - by David Oneill
I have a function that returns a table. The returned table contains (among other things) a store_id. I can get the store_id for a particular transaction_id and city_id as follows: select store_id from table(f_get_store(city_id, transaction_id)); I have another table that contains a list of transactions (which includes transaction_id and city_id). I want a query that returns store_id, city_id, transaction_id for every entry in the transaction table. My first guess was: select f_get_store(city_id, transaction_id), city_id, transaction_id from table; (simplified away the unimportant details) However, this yields an "ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes" error. How do I need to structure this query? (I'm using Oracle)

  • Create a group indicator (SQL)

    - by user1723699
    I am looking to create a group indicator for a query using SQL (Oracle specifically). Basically, I am looking for duplicate entries for certain columns and while I can find those what I also want is some kind of indicator to say what rows the duplicates are from. Below is an example of what I am looking to do (looking for duplicates on Name, Zip, Phone). The rows with Name = aaa are all in the same group, bb are not, and c are. Is there even a way to do this? I was thinking something with OVER (PARTITION BY ... but I can't think of a way to only increment for each group. +----------+---------+-----------+------------+-----------+-----------+ | Name | Zip | Phone | Amount | Duplicate | Group | +----------+---------+-----------+------------+-----------+-----------+ | aaa | 1234 | 5555555 | 500 | X | 1 | | aaa | 1234 | 5555555 | 285 | X | 1 | | bb | 545 | 6666666 | 358 | | 2 | | bb | 686 | 7777777 | 898 | | 3 | | aaa | 1234 | 5555555 | 550 | X | 1 | | c | 5555 | 8888888 | 234 | X | 4 | | c | 5555 | 8888888 | 999 | X | 4 | | c | 5555 | 8888888 | 230 | X | 4 | +----------+---------+-----------+------------+-----------+-----------+

  • SecurityException when trying to export a java resource

    - by thecoop
I'm trying to get the source of a java resource stored in an oracle database using this code (connecting as SYSTEM for testing): DECLARE javalob CLOB; BEGIN DBMS_LOB.CREATETEMPORARY(javalob, false); DBMS_JAVA.EXPORT_RESOURCE('RESOURCENAME', 'SCHEMA', javalob); DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(javalob); END; But when I try to run it I get this: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.SecurityException: cannot read <Resource Handle: RESOURCENAME|SCHEMA|301> because SYSTEM does not have execute privilege on it This thing is, I'm not sure how to grant permissions on <Resource Handle: RESOURCENAME|SCHEMA|301>, as this isn't a SQL or PL/SQL object. And why doesn't SYSTEM have access to it anyway?

  • Hard drive degredation from large memory usage and paging files?

    - by Stephen R
I've had a question(s) regarding computer degradation going through my head for a while and haven't found many good resources for researching it. 1) First off, when is the virtual RAM/paging file on a hard drive used by Windows? Is it used when the RAM is full? Or does it use the Virtual RAM/paging file as intermediate caching between the RAM and actual hard drive space all the time? 2) If I were to run many applications on my computer at the same time and have a bad habit of doing this for the entire lifetime of the computer, does it use more of the virtual RAM/paging file than if I were to have fewer programs running? Just to note, the RAM never fills up on my computer but it is used heavily. 3) By extension of question 2, if the virtual RAM/paging file is used more heavily, would that result in rapid hard drive degradation? I have seen a pattern among all of the computers that I have owned or used in the past 5 years. I am the kind of person to leave my web browser up with 40 tabs among other programs which will eat up 40% of my memory typically. Over time my computer will slow down, browsers start crashing, programs start seizing up or crashing themselves, eventually the computer becomes essentially unusable. I have been trying to rack my mind to come up with a solution other than to purchase a new PC to have it die on me in the next couple years as well. This is the only thought that has come to mind that might have a simple hardware fix...Windows ReadyBoost...Maybe? I'd like to be able to discuss this so I can learn something about all of the above. Thanks.
