Retrieval of Single Entity + Ria Services

Hi there, I am reading and doing some RnD on RIA as a solution for a new Silverlight project. I have read alot of the documentation and decided to do a small mockup of a system using .Net RIA Services. I want to know how to get a Single Entity from the Domain Service? example: I want to get a person and populate a form: public Person GetSinglePerson() { return new Person { ID = 4, FirstName = "Cyanide", LastName = "Happiness", Status=3 }; } Say I use the the DomainDataSource: <riaControls:DomainDataSource x:Name="source2" QueryName="GetSinglePersonQuery" AutoLoad="True"> <riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> <web:DataContext/> </riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> </riaControls:DomainDataSource> This only returns a EntityCollectionView? How do I bind for example in a form to properties that are in the Person Class? Like: <TextBox Text="{Binding FirstName, ElementName=source2}"/> Everything seems to come back as IEnumerable or as CollectionViews (like the DATA binding in the samples) which aren't useful for a single entity. I want a single persons entry, why do I want a CollectionView in which I cannot access properties directly. I have also use the: LoadOperation<Person> oLoadOperation = oDataContext.Load(oDataContext.GetSinglePersonQuery()); I am very close to giving up on this RIA idea and just going with a normal WCF service as it is more predictable and manageable at this stage.

Hiding a button on pushed view and showing it when back to list view

When I load my list view it has several blog posts and a refresh button on the top left. If I tap on a list item a view is pushed with the contents of that specific post. When this view is pushed in, the refresh button is hidden. But when I tap 'Back' to the parent list view, I'd like the refresh button to show (un-hide) - but it remains hidden. Any idea how to make this work? APC values randomly disappear

I'm using APC for storing a map of class names to class file paths. Getting => class_paths Array ( [MCS\CMS\Helper\LayoutHelper] => /Users/mbl/Documents/Projects/mcs_ibob/core/trunk/src/MCS/CMS/Helper/LayoutHelper.php [MCS\CMS\Model\Spot] => /Users/mbl/Documents/Projects/mcs_ibob/core/trunk/src/MCS/CMS/Model/Spot.php ) Getting => class_paths {null} Many times the cached value will also be gone between page requests. What could be the reason for this? I'm using APC as an extension (PECL) running PHP 5.3.

How do I fully reload my Sencha Touch App when tapping 'refresh'?

My list view layout is similar to Pinterest, with absolutely positioned blocks. Unfortunately, this seems to require a full re-initialization at refresh. If reload only the store (as below) the new blocks are incorrectly positioned. How do I reload the app when the user clicks on refresh? I am having a problem retrieving the parameters from the url section of a json store for a combobox in EXTJS from my code behind page in c#. After hours and hours trying to do this, I need your help. I have to models : Project and Task. A project hasMany tasks and a task belong to a project. Everyting works well if you don't use a store to save these models. I want to save both tasks and projects in two stores (TaskStore and ProjectStore). These stores use a LocalStorage proxy. However, he does not give a working example of this (in the example that he uses data is loaded into a form through a file called data.php). Silverlight logging out causes "Object reference not set to an instance"

I am using the Silverlight 4 Business Application Template. I've created a DomainDataSource in XAML like so: <riaControls:DomainDataSource x:Name="LogData" QueryName="GetLogs" AutoLoad="True" LoadSize="20" > <riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> <local:AdminDomainContext /> </riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> <riaControls:DomainDataSource.QueryParameters> <riaControls:Parameter ParameterName="UserLoginID" Value="{Binding Path=User.UserLoginID, Source={StaticResource WebContext}}" /> </riaControls:DomainDataSource.QueryParameters> </riaControls:DomainDataSource> The problem I'm experiencing is that whenever I log out, I get: Load operation failed for query 'GetLogs'. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I assume that because I've logged out, User.UserLoginID is now null and is causing the exception. So... anybody know a good way for me to solve this? I don't really want to set the QueryParameter programmatically.

No result when Rally.data.WsapiDataStore lacks permissions

I'm calling Ext.create('Rally.data.WsapiDataStore', params), and looking for results with the load event. I'm requesting a number of objects across programs that the user may or may not have read permission for. This works fine for queries where the user has permissions. But in the case where the user does not have permission and presumably gets zero results back, the load event does not seem to fire at all. I would expect it to fire with the unsuccessful flag or else to return with empty results. Since I don't know that the request has failed, my program waits and waits. How can I tell if a this request fails to return because of security? BTW, looking at the network stats, I believe all my requests get a "200 OK" status back. Unable to install Xdebug

I've registered xdebug in php.ini (as per http://xdebug.org/docs/install) but it's not showing up when i run "php -m" or when i get a test page to run "phpinfo()". I've just installed the latest version of XAMPP. Can anyone provide any suggestions in getting xdebug to show up? C#/WPF - RoutedEvent in WPF class that isn't a UIElement

I have a class that needs to notify that something significant has occured. The class is in a WPF-project, even though this specific class, is lookless (and doesn't inherit from UIElement, neither directly or indirectly). Normally, I just register a RoutedEvent to get this functionality but as this class neither has AddHandler nor RemoveHandler, I can't get it to work. Anyone knows of another way of get the RoutedEvent behaviour?

MVVM load data during or after ViewModel construction?

My generic question is as the title states, is it best to load data during ViewModel construction or afterward through some Loaded event handling? I'm guessing the answer is after construction via some Loaded event handling, but I'm wondering how that is most cleanly coordinated between ViewModel and View? Here's more details about my situation and the particular problem I'm trying to solve: I am using the MVVM Light framework as well as Unity for DI. I have some nested Views, each bound to a corresponding ViewModel. The ViewModels are bound to each View's root control DataContext via the ViewModelLocator idea that Laurent Bugnion has put into MVVM Light. This allows for finding ViewModels via a static resource and for controlling the lifetime of ViewModels via a Dependency Injection framework, in this case Unity. It also allows for Expression Blend to see everything in regard to ViewModels and how to bind them. So anyway, I've got a parent View that has a ComboBox databound to an ObservableCollection in its ViewModel. The ComboBox's SelectedItem is also bound (two-way) to a property on the ViewModel. When the selection of the ComboBox changes, this is to trigger updates in other views and subviews. Currently I am accomplishing this via the Messaging system that is found in MVVM Light. This is all working great and as expected when you choose different items in the ComboBox. However, the ViewModel is getting its data during construction time via a series of initializing method calls. This seems to only be a problem if I want to control what the initial SelectedItem of the ComboBox is. Using MVVM Light's messaging system, I currently have it set up where the setter of the ViewModel's SelectedItem property is the one broadcasting the update and the other interested ViewModels register for the message in their constructors. It appears I am currently trying to set the SelectedItem via the ViewModel at construction time, which hasn't allowed sub-ViewModels to be constructed and register yet. What would be the cleanest way to coordinate the data load and initial setting of SelectedItem within the ViewModel? I really want to stick with putting as little in the View's code-behind as is reasonable. I think I just need a way for the ViewModel to know when stuff has Loaded and that it can then continue to load the data and finalize the setup phase. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hey I am using apache library. I have created a class which sends a post request to a servlet. I have set up the parameters for the client and i have created a HTTP post object to be sent but for some reason when i excute the request i get a reposnse that says the get method is not supported(which is true cause i have only made a dopost method in my servlet). It seems that a get request is being sent but i dont know why. The post method worked before but i started gettng http error 417 "Expectation Failed" which i fixed by adding paramenters. below is my class with the post method. ASP.NET MVC Html.ValidationSummary(true) does not display model errors

I have some problem with Html.ValidationSummary. I don't want to display property errors in ValidationSummary. And when I set Html.ValidationSummary(true) it does not display error messages from ModelState. When there is some Exception in controller action on string MembersManager.RegisterMember(member); catch section adds an error to the ModelState: ModelState.AddModelError("error", ex.Message); But ValidationSummary does not display this error message. When I set Html.ValidationSummary(false) all messages are displaying, but I don't want to display property errors. How can I fix this problem? jQuery - growlUI and ASP Update Panel Postback Problem

I am using the jQuery blockUI plugin's growlUI to display a return status message to the user when returning from an async postback from an update panel. What happens is after returning and displaying the growl notification, any further postbacks seem to be broken and the app just spins. I am using the ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock method to register the script. and calling the growl UI method in javascript with $.growlUI('Notification', 'Message'); There are no javascript errors being displayed.

I have an ASP.NET GridView which has columns that look like this: | Foo | Bar | Total1 | Total2 | Total3 | Is it possible to create a header on two rows that looks like this? | | Totals | | Foo | Bar | 1 | 2 | 3 | The data in each row will remain unchanged as this is just to pretty up the header and decrease the horizontal space that the grid takes up. The entire GridView is sortable in case that matters. I don't intend for the added "Totals" spanning column to have any sort functionality.
