  • .net 3.5 message framing

    - by Rob
We have message framing working by using a lengh prefix but using .NET 2.0 beginSend/BeginReceive. Is message framing any different in 3.5, if so how should we implement it using the new framework? Are there any useable examples out there which focus purely on message framing using 3.5? Many thanks

  • How did you choose a technology to specialize in

    - by Tomh
I know it is kind of subjective, but as I've seen questions around like "How did you land your first job" etc. I thought it might be suitable. With so many technologies coming out these days and employers asking for specialists in those (no one is looking for generalists), I'm wondering how people here managed to pick one technology (or area) and focus on that. If this question is not suitable here, then where can I ask?

  • How to catch key press on a form c# .net

    - by flavour404
Hi, I have a parent form that contains a lot of controls. What I am trying to do is filter all of the key presses for that form. The trouble is that if the focus is on one of the controls on the form then the parent form is not getting the key press event, so how do I capture the key down event? Thanks, R.

  • How to embed a google map with a changeable area?

    - by Tom
I haven't worded this very well But basically, I'd like to embed a map on my site - but the area it shows will change. I've tried doing this, but it never seems to work as it will focus on the wrong area - the old area, rather than the new area. Basically, I'd like a google map code that uses $place as a location. Thanks.

  • Your favorite time-off between programming.

    - by Harsha
I am sure all coding pundits here will have one (or multiple) ways of spending some time-off between hectic coding sessions just to relax. Would love to hear from you all as I am a newbie and want to take little breaks (non-physical) from coding and do things which actually help me focus again. Thanks.

  • Can I use anything other than BIGINT as Primary Key data type in SQLite?

    - by weenet
I was psyched about the possibility of using SQLite as a database solution during development so that I could focus on writing the code first and dynamically generating the db at runtime using NHibernate's ShemaExport functionality. However, I'm running into a few issues, not the least of which is that it seems that SQLite requires me to use Int64 for my primary keys (vs, say, Int32 or Guid). Is there any way around this?

  • Printf example in bash does not create a newline

    - by WolfHumble
Working with printf in a bash script, adding no spaces after "\n" does not create a newline, whereas adding a space creates a newline, e. g.: No space after "\n" NewLine=`printf "\n"` echo -e "Firstline${NewLine}Lastline" Result: FirstlineLastline Space after "\n " NewLine=`printf "\n "` echo -e "Firstline${NewLine}Lastline" Result: Firstline Lastline Question: Why doesn't 1. create the following result: Firstline Lastline I know that this specific issue could have been worked around using other techniques, but I want to focus on why 1. does not work.

  • Weird jQuery UI Slider behavior using Page Up/Down

    - by qlassic
I'm using jQuery UI's slider to update a div containing a number. Dragging or using the left/right keys should only allow the user to choose a number between 1 and 5 (this works as intended). However, if the handle has focus and I use page up/down, I start to get rounded values that are well out of the range of 1-5. Anybody experience the same? Thoughts?

I'd like to do some professional development during my commute, but I find that reading programming texts on the bus and train cause nausia because of how much I have to focus on them. I'd like to find some good technical programming audio books, either free or for purchase/download and some good technical podcasts. What are the best programming audio books or podcasts out there, and where can they be found?

  • java swing, simulate JTable terminateEditOnFocusLost behaviour

    - by blow
Hi all, i'm using putClientProperty("terminateEditOnFocusLost", Boolean); to make jtable end editing and clear current selected rows when it lose focus or when simply click over an other GUI component. This is very useful, but with "terminateEditOnFocusLost" there are some strange behaviours if it is used with editCellAt and changeSelection. There are also some undesiderable TableModelEvents fired for some fake table updates. So, im looking for an hack to simulate "terminateEditOnFocusLost without using it, is this possibile? Thanks all.

  • Extracting iPhone Exposure Setting

    - by dereck
It seems that a similar question has been asked before, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/373357/obtaining-iphone-photo-exposure-information I wondering with the new iPhone camera, if there is any way to extract exposure data from the camera? it seems that it is able to sample different exposures based on where you focus, but I have yet to find any further documentation. Thanks
