  • Why is my .htaccess file redirecting to full server path instead of relative path?

    - by death.au
I've never had a problem with cakePHP before, but something's odd about this server and is causing the redirects in the .htaccess files to behave oddly. CakePHP uses mod_rewrite in .htaccess files to redirect requests to its own webroot folder. The problem is that the redirects are listing the wrong path and causing a 404 error. My CakePHP application, which is stored in the listings directory, has a .htaccess file as follows: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^$ app/webroot/ [R=301,L] RewriteRule (.*) app/webroot/$1 [R=301,L] </IfModule> (*note that the R=301 causes an external redirect so we can see what is going on from our end. It should really omit this flag and do the redirect internally, transparent to end-users) This is supposed to redirect any request from http://hostname.com/~username/listings/ to http://hostname.com/~username/listings/app/webroot/ However, rather than simply adding “app/webroot/” to the end as it is supposed to, it is adding the full server path ( /home/username/public_html/listings/app/webroot/ ) resulting in the final URL http://hostname.com/home/username/public_html/listings/app/webroot/ which is obviously incorrect and triggers a 404 error. The hosting is on a shared hosting account, so that limits what I can do with the settings. I've never seen this happen before, and I'm thinking it's something wrong from the hosting side of things, but if anyone has some helpful suggestions then I can put them to the hosting company as well.

  • .htaccess mod force extra characters

    - by user1090809
I need to be able to write/post links on the web that look like 'mysite.com/?d=foo', and take the user to filepath '/foo.php'. Here is my htaccess: RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/$ $1.php [L] RewriteRule ^([^/]+(/[^/]+)*)/$ /$1.php [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(\.[a-zA-Z0-9]{1,5}|/)$ RewriteRule ^([^.]+[^/.])$ /$1/ [R=301,L,NC] Baically I need to "force" '/?d=' before the filename, kinda like I've already modded my htaccess to force a trailing slash. How do I need to reconstruct my htaccess to make that possible?

  • Python namespace in between builtins and global?

    - by Paul
Hello, As I understand it python has the following outermost namespaces: Builtin - This namespace is global across the entire interpreter and all scripts running within an interpreter instance. Globals - This namespace is global across a module, ie across a single file. I am looking for a namespace in between these two, where I can share a few variables declared within the main script to modules called by it. For example, script.py: import Log from Log import foo from foo log = Log() foo() foo.py: def foo(): log.Log('test') # I want this to refer to the callers log object I want to be able to call script.py multiple times and in each case, expose the module level log object to the foo method. Any ideas if this is possible? It won't be too painful to pass down the log object, but I am working with a large chunk of code that has been ported from Javascript. I also understand that this places constraints on the caller of foo to expose its log object. Thanks, Paul

  • mod_rewrite different rules for different pages

    - by Sophia Gavish
Hi, I'm trying to understand how mod_rewrite works. I've been using it before but this week I tried to write rules to a new website and it doesn't works. I want to make a rule to make : www.example.com/media/?gallery=galleryname&album=albumname&pid=pictureid looks like: www.example.com/media/galleryname/albumname/pictureid The rule is: RewriteRule ^([^/])/([^/])/([^/]*)$ /media/?gallery=$1&album=$2&pid=$3 [L] and here is the code below: Options -Indexes Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} !^(TRACE|TRACK|GET|POST|HEAD)$ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l RewriteRule ^([^/])/([^/])/([^/]*)$ /media/?gallery=$1&album=$2&pid=$3 [L] I really want to know what I'm missing, because I tried some examples and it looks fine to me. maybe because /media/ is an actual folder the rule is wrong? Thanks.

  • Recommended Python publish/subscribe/dispatch module ?

    - by Eli Bendersky
From PyPubSub: Pypubsub provides a simple way for your Python application to decouple its components: parts of your application can publish messages (with or without data) and other parts can subscribe/receive them. This allows message "senders" and message "listeners" to be unaware of each other: one doesn't need to import the other a sender doesn't need to know "who" gets the messages, what the listeners will do with the data, or even if any listener will get the message data. similarly, listeners don't need to worry about where messages come from. This is a great tool for implementing a Model-View-Controller architecture or any similar architecture that promotes decoupling of its components. There seem to be quite a few Python modules for publishing/subscribing floating around the web, from PyPubSub, to PyDispatcher to simple "home-cooked" classes. Can you recommend a module that works well in most cases ? Which modules have you had positive experience with ? Negative ? Thanks in advance

  • Am I missing a flag or something? RewriteRule tip needed

    - by Kirill
RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9_]+)$ index.php?p=$1&l=$2 RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9_]+)/$ index.php?p=$1&l=$2 this works fine if I do site.com/param_one/param_two/, but returns a 404 when I omit param_two. I'm a newbie to routing requests with htaccess, is there a simple quick fix?

  • What CPAN module can summarize Perl error logs?

    - by mithaldu
I'm maintaining some website code that will soon dump all its errors and warnings into a log file. In order to make this a bit more pro-active I plan to parse this log file daily, summarize the warnings and errors (i.e. count the occurrence of each specific one and group by either warning/error) and then email this to the devs on the project. This would likely admittedly be rather trivial with a hash and some further fiddling, I wondered if there is a suitable module on CPAN that I could use to do this task. It would either be one that summarizes specifically Perl error/warnings logs or one that summarizes arbitrary text files. Any suggestions?

  • accessing required modules from other modules

    - by john smith
I have a bare-bone express application, exactly the one that is created with the express command. I have installed socket.io and attached it to my server, like this: var app = express(), server = http.createServer(app), io = io.listen(server); server.listen(8000); Now, I also have the routes files, which is called like this: app.get('/', routes.index); Inside this module I have the following function: exports.index = function(req, res){ socket.emit('news', { message: "foo" }); }; This obviously leads to a 500 reference error, because the routes file is an exportable module, and obviously has no idea what the socket is, as it is located in the app.js file. Is there a way I can access this socket object from this, or any other file? Please note that it is attached to the express generated app. extra: what about getting/setting session data? Thanks in advance.

  • .htaccess Redirect Loop, adding multiple .php extensions

    - by Ryan Smith
I have sort of a small parent/teacher social network set up for my school. I use my .htaccess file to make the links to teacher profiles cleaner and to add a trailing slash to all urls. I get this problem when going to /teachers/teacher-name/ the link (sometimes) redirects to /teachers/teacher-name.php.php.php.php.php.php.php.php... Below is my .htaccess file. Sometimes if I clear my browser cache in Chrome it temporarily fixes it. I can't exactly wright .htaccess syntax, but I'm pretty familiar with it. Any suggestions are appreciated! RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / #remove php ext RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.php -f RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/$ $1.php RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^/]+)/$ $1/$2.php #force trailing slash/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)([^/])$ /$1$2/ [L,R=301] #other rewrites RewriteRule ^teachers/([^/\.]+)/$ /teachers/profile.php?u=$1 RewriteRule ^teachers/([^/\.]+)/posts/$ /teachers/posts.php?u=$1 RewriteRule ^teachers/([^/\.]+)/posts/([^/\.]+)/$ /teachers/post.php?u=$1&p=$2 RewriteRule ^gallery/([^/\.]+)/$ /gallery/album.php?n=$1 RewriteRule ^gallery/([^/\.]+)/slideshow/$ /gallery/slideshow.php?n=$1 RewriteRule ^gallery/([^/\.]+)/([^/\.]+)/([^/\.]+)/$ /gallery/photo.php?a=$1&p=$2&e=$3 EDIT:I have attached a screenshot of exactly what I'm talking about.

  • Include ":" character in parameter using Apache's mod_rewrite

    - by travis
I use something like that to pass to the parameter 'text' what follows after the domain RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?text=$1 [L,QSA] So if I have www.example.com/tralala I get $text='tralala' But I want it to be possible to have in the parameter the character ":" multiple times: www.example.com/me:you:him Can you give me a hand? If I test www.example.com/me:you:him I get the error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /you:me:him on this server.

  • How do I ignore a directory in mod_rewrite?

    - by eddowding
I'm trying to have the modrewrite rules skip the directory vip. I've tried a number of things as you can see below, but to no avail. # BEGIN WordPress <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / #RewriteRule ^vip$ - [PT] RewriteRule ^vip/.$ - [PT] #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/vip RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> # END WordPress How do I get modrewrite to entirely ignore the /vip/ directory so that all requests pass directly to the folder?

  • htaccess rewriterule

    - by user322731
I currently have this rule where I want the page to just render my static content. RewriteRule ^videos\/coverage\/view\/236159\-([0-9a-zA-Z-]+) http: //website.com/static/236159.html [NC] However, this doesn't work. It works with a L tag but then the URL is different: RewriteRule ^videos\/coverage\/view\/236159\-([0-9a-zA-Z-]+) http: //website.com/static/236159.html [L, NC] My goal is to keep the URL the same but the content different. Can anyone point out to what flags are needed in order to get this working properly? Thanks!

  • .htaccess URL is being cut at a space (I'm using Codeigniter)

    - by Ice
I've used the following code to map https://live.example.com on to http://example.com/api Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} =on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^live\.example\.com [NC] RewriteRule (.+)$ "http://example.com/api/$1" [L,P] The following url: https://live.example.com/userlinks/xml/John%20James/MvPjeUTo15/ Is suppose to map onto: http://example.com/api/userlinks/xml/John%20James/MvPjeUTo15/ Instead it maps it to: http://example.com/api/userlinks/xml/John So it seems to cut it at the space. I am using the Codeigniter framework but I am not sure if the problem lies there. Also using %20 or just a space in the url bar produces no different results. Anyone any idea and/or solution why this happens? Thank you very much, Ice

  • RewriteCond to change displayed host, but not server

    - by coneybeare
Typing out the title to this leads me to believe this might not be possible due to security concerns, but I will ask anyway. I have shortcode support running on my server, lets call it xx.yy I want it so when a user sends a request to xx.yy, it just changes the displayed host to another valid domain running on the same box. I have this so far (lets the server know to accept requests from xx.yy): RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*xx.yy [NC] RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:<PORT_OMITTED>%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*mysite.com [NC] RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:<PORT_OMITTED>%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] It works, and it directs the traffic into my app, but the url says http://xx.yy when I would rather it say http://mysite.com I know i could redirect to http://mysite.com instead of 127.0.0.1, but I have 4 parallel boxes of mysite.com and going back out to DNS to maybe go to another box seems like a waste when I am already here. Also, I am not sure how POST requests would work like that. What can I do?

  • htaccess Redirect - First Segment to PHP File, Second Segment as Parameter

    - by Steve
My htaccess redirect knowledge is somewhat weak, so I was hoping to get some help here. I currently have the following redirect, which works well: # remove trailing slash RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301] # redirect to clean URL RewriteCond /%{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -f RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-\s]+)$ /$1.php This takes a URL like www.mysite.com/about to www.mysite.com/about.php Now I would like to keep this behavior, but add parameters (if applicable), as such: www.mysite.com/about = www.mysite.com/about.php www.mysite.com/gallery/1 = www.mysite.com/gallery.php?id=1 If possible, I might like to expand this system to 2 or more parameters, as such: www.mysite.com/gallery/1/2 = www.mysite.com/gallery.php?id=1&section=2 So the pattern would be: First URL segment redirects to a PHP file (Optionally) the second segment gets added as the id parameter (Optionally) the third segment gets added as the section parameter

  • Exclude certain subfolders and domains in redirects

    - by Alexsander Akers
This is a continuation from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1704845/redirect-only-html-files How can I change my .htaccess to make it exclude certain subfolders or subdomains from the HTML-only redirect? I tried doing using this code to exclude the 'downloads' subfolder and the 'dev' and 'support' subdomains, but it didn't work: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^pandamonia.us$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.pandamonia.us$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !download [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !faq RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !support [OR] RewriteRule /.+\.html$ "http\:\/\/pandamonia\.us\/" [L]

  • Case Insensitive URLs with mod_rewrite

    - by Paul Tarjan
I'd like for any url that doesn't hit an existing file, to do a lookup on the other possible cases and see if those files exist, and if so, 302 to them. If that's not possible, then I'm ok with these compromises: Only check the lowercase version Only check the first path portion For example http://example.com/CoOl/PaTH/CaMELcaSE should redirect to http://example.com/cool/path/camelCase (assuming the latter exists). but of course a full solution is much more useful to me and others

  • 503 server response for Googlebot

    - by Hallik
I put an .htaccess file in my webroot with the following contents RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*(Googlebot|Googlebot|Mediapartners|Adsbot|Feedfetcher)-?(Google|Image)? [NC] RewriteRule .* /var/www/503.html This website is in maintenance mode, and I don't want anything indexed yet. I tested the code with a firefox User-Agent switcher plugin, and looking at the access log it shows this at the end of each log entry, but watching in TamperData or Firebug, it still returns a 200 server response instead of a 503. What am I doing wrong? "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)" contents of /var/www/503.html <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"> <html> <head> <title>503 - Service temporary unavailable</title> </head> <body> <h1>503 - Service temporary unavailable</h1> <p>Sorry, this website is currently down for maintainance please retry later</p> </body> </html> I get this in my error log. LogLevel debug, would that go into the vhost in a specific place? Every answer I see on google is something different. Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace.

  • Mod_Rewrite: Testing URL got indexed in Google - How do I create a proper 301 redirect?

    - by Jonathan Wold
I worked on a website for which I had a "development URL" that looked something like this: www.domainname.com.php5-9.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/ Now, several weeks after the website launch, there is at least one page of content indexed on Google with that URL. Question: How do I redirect all requests from that test URL to reroute to the actual domain? So, for instance, I would want: www.domainname.com.php5-9.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/page-name To go to: www.domainname.com/page-name The website is powered by WordPress and hosted on a PHP server. I've experimented with .htaccess without much success.

  • Apache .htaccess: ErrorDocument and RewriteEngine not working together

Please take a look at the following .htaccess ErrorDocument 404 /404/ RewriteEngine On RewriteRule (.*) index.php [L] With this setup, I am using header('HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found'); in PHP to redirect to the error handling page and send the appropriate HTTP status code. The correct 404 status code is sent, but the browser shows a blank page and the access log shows "GET /invalid-url/ HTTP/1.1" 404 - Can anyone tell me how to make ErrorDocument work with Apache URL rewrites?
