  • Adding a loading gif to simple script

    - by bluedaniel
    Hello everyone, Im really really new to Javascript but Ive got this script that loads the contents of a url and everything works fine. I call the plannerSpin function with an onClick method on a button but how would I go about displaying an animated gif whilst all this is going on? var xmlHttp function plannerSpin(str) { xmlHttp = GetXmlHttpObject() if (xmlHttp == null) { alert("Browser does not support HTTP Request") return } var url = "/recipes/planner/data" xmlHttp.onreadystatechange = stateChanged xmlHttp.open("GET", url, true) xmlHttp.send(null) } function stateChanged() { if (xmlHttp.readyState == 4 || xmlHttp.readyState == "complete") { document.getElementById("recipe_planner_container").innerHTML = xmlHttp.responseText } } function GetXmlHttpObject() { var xmlHttp = null; try { // Firefox, Opera 8.0+, Safari xmlHttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e) { // Internet Explorer try { xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } return xmlHttp; }

  • Simple ranking algorithm in Groovy

    - by Richard Paul
    I have a short groovy algorithm for assigning rankings to food based on their rating. This can be run in the groovy console. The code works perfectly, but I'm wondering if there is a more Groovy or functional way of writing the code. Thinking it would be nice to get rid of the previousItem and rank local variables if possible. def food = [ [name:'Chocolate Brownie',rating:5.5, rank:null], [name:'Pizza',rating:3.4, rank:null], [name:'Icecream', rating:2.1, rank:null], [name:'Fudge', rating:2.1, rank:null], [name:'Cabbage', rating:1.4, rank:null]] food.sort { -it.rating } def previousItem = food[0] def rank = 1 previousItem.rank = rank food.each { item -> if (item.rating == previousItem.rating) { item.rank = previousItem.rank } else { item.rank = rank } previousItem = item rank++ } assert food[0].rank == 1 assert food[1].rank == 2 assert food[2].rank == 3 assert food[3].rank == 3 // Note same rating = same rank assert food[4].rank == 5 // Note, 4 skipped as we have two at rank 3 Suggestions?

  • Simple subclass mappable class in lift

  • using JMock to write unit test for a simple spring JDBC DAO

    - by Quincy
    I'm writing an unit test for spring jdbc dao. The method to test is: public long getALong() { return simpleJdbcTemplate.queryForObject("sql query here", new RowMapper<Long>() { public Long mapRow(ResultSet resultSet, int i) throws SQLException { return resultSet.getLong("a_long"); } }); } Here is what I have in the test: public void testGetALong() throws Exception { final Long result = 1000L; context.checking(new Expectations() {{ oneOf(simpleJdbcTemplate).queryForObject("sql_query", new RowMapper<Long>() { public Long mapRow(ResultSet resultSet, int i) throws SQLException { return resultSet.getLong("a_long"); } }); will(returnValue(result)); }}); Long seq = dao.getALong(); context.assertIsSatisfied(); assertEquals(seq, result); } Naturally, the test doesn't work (otherwise, I wouldn't be asking this question here). The problem is the rowmapper in the test is different from the rowmapper in the DAO. So the expectation is not met. I tried to put with around the sql query and with(any(RowMapper.class)) for the rowmapper. It wouldn't work either, complains about "not all parameters were given explicit matchers: either all parameters must be specified by matchers or all must be specified by values, you cannot mix matchers and values"

  • Simple select not working on JDBC MSSQL ?

    - by Xinus
    I am trying to move project which was using MySQL database to the one that uses MSSQL 2008, But the select that was working in mysql is no longer working in MSSQL PreparedStatement statement = connection .prepareStatement("select u.user_firstname,u.user_lastname from user_details u, login l where l.username=? and l.login_user = u.user_id"); statement.setString(1, userName); ResultSet resultSet = (ResultSet) statement.executeQuery(); It always gives me empty resultset even when there are values corresponding to that username, When I run query using MSSQL management studio - query works properly i.e. it gives non-zero rows, Are there any MSSQL specific change I need to do ?

  • Simple .HTACCESS Passing Variables

    - by Willie Murray III
    Let's says I have a classifieds site which has a URL structure similar to the one which I have listed below: Ex. http://takarat.com/openclassifieds/?category=iphone&location=tennessee This is what shows up when I click "tennessee" as the location and then click on "iphone" as the category. Now let's say this site has a search box and I wanted a URL which comes up after using this search box to show up as opposed to the previous URL. Let's say that whenever I search for the word "iphone" while WITHIN the iphone CATEGORY the following link shows up: Iphone SEARCH Ex. http://takarat.com/openclassifieds/?s=iphone&category=iphone&location=tennessee Ok, I want THAT iphone SEARCH to come up whenever anyone clicks Tennessee Iphone..How would I do this [by the way, I want this to be dynamic so that I can use the code for different combinations of locations and products etc..I want the code to use the CATEGORY name to conduct the search basically]? I believe that this will involve "Passing varibles" from the original link... I am new to programming so I may have my terminology wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. TURN THIS: takarat.com/openclassifieds/?category=iphone[var 1]&location=tennessee[var2] INTO THIS: takarat.com/openclassifieds/?s=iphone[var 1]&category=iphone[var 1]&location=tennessee[var2]

  • Wanting a simple overview on how to connect to a SQLite database in Cocoa/Objective-C

    - by Jesse
    Hi, everyone. I've been experimenting with Cocoa and Objective-C programming on the Mac for a few months now, and I am wanting to start developing applications that manage large amounts of data. The trouble is, I'm not really sure where to start with databases. I have a good background in Java programming with SQLite. I've read a bit about CoreData and I haven't been able to find any good resources for just manually connecting to the database. I'm looking for recommendations. Should I try CoreData, and if so, can anyone recommend a good tutorial for someone new to the language? Or, should I try to manually connect and query an SQLite database somehow, and, if so, any tutorials? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • How do I make "simple" throughput servlet-filter?

    - by Tommy
    I'm looking to create a filter that can give me two things: number of request pr minute, and average responsetime pr minute. I already got the individual readings, I'm just not sure how to add them up. My filter captures every request, and it records the time each request takes: public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ...() { long start = System.currentTimeMillis(); chain.doFilter(request, response); long stop = System.currentTimeMillis(); String time = Util.getTimeDifferenceInSec(start, stop); } This information will be used to create some pretty Google Chart charts. I don't want to store the data in any database. Just a way to get current numbers out when requested As this is a high volume application; low overhead is essential. I'm assuming my applicationserver doesn't provide this information.

  • Objective-C Simple Inheritance and OO Principles

    - by bleeckerj
    I have a subclass SubClass that inherits from baseclass BaseClass. BaseClass has an initializer, like so: -(id)init { self = [super init]; if(self) { [self commonInit]; } return self; } -(void)commonInit { self.goodStuff = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; } SubClass does its initializer, like so: -(id)init { self = [super init]; if(self) { [self commonInit]; } return self; } -(void)commonInit { self.extraGoodStuff = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; } Now, I've *never taken a proper Objective-C course, but I'm a programmer more from the Electrical Engineering side, so I make do. I've developed server-side applications mostly in Java though, so I may be seeing the OO world through Java principles. When SubClass is initialized, it calls the BaseClass init and my expectation would be — because inheritance to me implies that characteristics of a BaseClass pass through to SubClass — that the commonInit method in BaseClass would be called during BaseClass init. It is not. I can *sorta understand maybe-possibly-stretch-my-imagination why it wouldn't be. But, then — why wouldn't it be based on the principles of OOP? What does "self" represent if not the instance of the class of the running code? Okay, so — I'm not going to argue that what a well-developed edition of Objective-C is doing is wrong. So, then — what is the pattern I should be using in this case? I want SubClass to have two main bits — the goodStuff that BaseClass has as well as the extraGoodStuff that it deserves as well. Clearly, I've been using the wrong pattern in this type of situation. Am I meant to expose commonInit (which makes me wonder about encapsulation principles — why expose something that, in the Java world at least, would be considered "protected" and something that should only ever be called once for each instance)? I've run into a similar problem in the recent past and tried to muddle through it, but now — I'm really wondering if I've got my principles and concepts all straight in my head. Little help, please.

Also, clearly porting some GA stuff to C++ for fun and practice.

Here's the code that initalizes the logger protected void SendMessage() { log4net.Config.XmlConfigurator.Configure(); ILog log = LogManager.GetLogger(typeof(Contact)); ... log.Info("here we go!"); log.Debug("debug afasf"); ... } it doesn't work, no matter what I seem to do. I am referencing the 'log4net.dll' correctly, and by debugging the application i can see that the log object is getting initiated properly. This is a asp.net 3.5 framework web project. Any ideas/suggestions? I thought originally this error may be due to a file write permission constraint, but that doesn't seem to be the case (or so I think).

  • using PHP to create multidimensional array from simple JSON array

    - by Michael Robinson
    I have a php query the returns the following JSON format from a table. [{"memberid":"18", "useridFK":"30", "loginName":"Johnson", "name":"Frank", "age":"23", "place":"School", }, It needs the following format: [{"memberid":"18" { "useridFK":"30", "loginName":"Johnson", "name":"Frank", "age":"23", "place":"School",} }, I was told in another question that PHP would work and it looks like "Transversing" might be appropriate, I'm looking to find out what to put in the Php before it returns the JASON. My Array.plist will look like the following: Root: Dictionary V Rows: Array V Item 0: Dictionary Title: String 18 V Children Array V Item 0 Dictionary Title String 30 etc. Thanks in advance.

  • Simple grid layout question

    - by Matt H.
    I can't believe I'm back to this after working with WPF for 3 months :) Consider very common setup: How do I configure the rowheights so that the top and bottom rows (menu bar and status bar) size to fit the height of their content, and the middle row (main content), fills the remaining available space in the program? I can't fix the height of the top/bottom rows because the height of their content can vary. <Window> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition/> <RowDefinition/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Menu Grid.Row=0> ...menuitems </Menu> <Grid Grid.Row=1> ...main application content here (like most programs) </Grid> <StatusBar> ...statusbaritems </StatusBar> </Grid> </Window>

  • PHP Simple modification/correction

    - by Adrian M.

Thank you so much everybody, this website really helped me a lot to learn php by examples!

  • Need to debug LINQ simple queries in Visual Studio 2010

    - by maxima120
    I often get in a position when I need to know why my LINQ doesnt work as intended... I use object collections and extensions. I dont want spend more than couple of minutes on it. LINQ supposed to make developer's life easier not harder. I hoped VS 2010 will have it fixed but I now use RC and it still doesnt let me type LINQ and check what is going on... Says as before "Expression cannot contain lambda expressions"... Is there some add-on for Visual Studio so I can quickly and effectively run ad-hoc queries and find out what is going on and where I am wrong?

  • Java Simple Calculator

    - by Lahiru Kavinda
    I have made this calculator program in Java. This works well only when two numbers are calculated at one time. That means to get the sum of 1+2+3 you have to go this way : press 1 press + press 2 press = press + press 3 press = and it calculates it as 6. But I want to program this so that I can get the answer by: press 1 press + press 2 press + press 3 press = but this gives the answer 5!!! How to code this so that it works like an ordinary calculator? Here is my code: import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; public class cal1 extends JFrame { double op1 = 0d, op2 = 0d; double result = 0d; char action; boolean b = false; boolean pressequal = false;
