  • What can I do with urllib?

    I grasp that it can fetch internet resources, but I'm not really fully appreciating what that means. I was doing the challenges at pythonchallenge.com, and I got past the one that requires urllib to fetch the page and read the source, but I don't see how this is useful quite yet. And examples are kind of lacking in diversity. What else can it do, or how can I use this to my advantage? (Besides building a web browser...)

    I had programmed a brilliant web page in ASP.NET 4.0 and lo and behold, this one page lost its sessions in Google Chrome. I could run it locally in debug and could not reproduce the issues in Chrome. Didn't happen in IE or Firefox, only Chrome on the published server.   • Creating database connections - Do it once or for each query?

    At the moment I create a database connection when my web page is first loaded. I then process the page and run any queries against that conection. Is this the best way to do it or should I be creating a database connection each time I run a query? p.s It makes more sense to me to create 1 connection and use it but I don't know if this can cause any other issues.
