  • Locating the UIView that UITableView scrolls over

    - by Coocoo4Cocoa
    Hi all, I'm working on trying to obtain the UIView that UITableView scrolls over, if scrolling is enabled. Typically, the background is white, and if you push the UITableView out of its bounds, you'll see a background. I'm trying to set this background to a UIColor of blackColor. I can't seem to find the appropriate one to tag. I've tried the following code in my UIViewController: - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; UITableView *aTableView = [[[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds style:UITableViewStylePlain] autorelease]; [aTableView setScrollEnabled:YES]; [self.view setBackgroundColor:[UIColor blackColor]]; [self.view addSubview:aTableView]; self.tableView = aTableView; } The color still stays white. Seems I'm hitting the wrong UIView. Any idea? Thanks.

  • How we should load theMFMailComposeViewController in cocos2d ?

    - by srikanth rongali
    I am writing an app in using cocos2d. This method I have written for the selector goToFirstScreen: . The view is in landscape mode. I need to send an email. So, I need to launch the MFMailComposeViewController. I need it in portrait mode. But, the control is not entering in to viewDidLoad of the mailMe class. The problem is in goToScreen: method. But, I do not get where I am wrong ? -(void)goToFirstScreen:(id)sender { CCScene *Scene = [CCScene node]; CCLayer *Layer = [mailME node]; [Scene addChild:Layer]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setAnimationInterval:1.0/60]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] pushScene: Scene]; } Thank you .

  • iPhone UIImage Display Controller

    - by Bill Shiff
    Hello, I would like to be able to display a UIImage from within my app and support a lot of the functionality available in the built-in Photos app (i.e., pinch-to-zoom, pan, etc). I don't really want to write a bunch of code that someone has already written, so I'm wondering if there is a library out there already that I could just import into my project. I'm aware of the Three20 project, but I don't want to import a huge library if I don't have to. Is anyone aware of an available library that's already out there for displaying UIImages? Or part of some open-source project that can be pulled out on its own? Thanks!

  • Differences in accessing resources between Simulator and Device?

    - by Tony
    Is there some difference between the way that bundle resources can be accessed on the iPhone simulator versus a device (in my case, an iPad)? I am able to access a file on the former, but not the latter. NSString *filePath = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%@",[[NSBundle mainBundle] bundlePath], @"/AppResources/html/pages/quickHelp.html"]; BOOL fileExists = [[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:filePath]; // fileExists == YES in the debugger on both the simulator and the device NSString *path = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"AppResources/html/pages/%@", contentsFileName]; NSString *pathForURL = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:path ofType:@"html"]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:pathForURL isDirectory:NO]; The code above works fine in the simulator, but on the device pathForResource:path returns nil, so the last line throws a 'nil string parameter' exception. Am I missing something obvious? edit: Of course, in the above @"quickHelp" is being passed in the contentsFileName var. edit2: if it makes any difference, in my build settings "Base SDK" is set to "iPhone Device 4.0", and "iPhone OS Deployment Target" is set to "iPhone OS 3.1.3". Any other settings that might have an influence?

  • Calling NSFetchedResultsController & CoreData experts

    - by JK
    I am having a few nagging issues with NSFetchedResultsController and CoreData, any of which I would be very grateful to get help on. Issue 1 - Updates: I update my store on a background thread which results in certain rows being delete, inserted or updated. The changes are merged into the context on the main thread using the "mergeChangesFromContextDidSaveNotification:" method. Inserts and deletes are updated properly, but updates are not (e.g. the cell label is not updated with the change) although I have confirmed the updates to come through the contextDidSaveNotifcation, exactly like the inserts and deleted. My current workaround is to temporarily change the staleness interval of the context to 0, but this does not seem like the ideal solution. Issue 2 - Deleting objects: My fetch batch size is 20. If an object is deleted by the background thread which is in the first 20 rows, everything works fine. But if the object is after the first 20 rows and the table is scrolled down, a "CoreData could not fulfill a fault" error is raised. I have tried resaving the context and reperforming the frc fetch - all to no avail. Note: In this scenario, the frc delegate method "didChangeObject...." is not called for the delete - I assume this is because the object in question had not been faulted at that time (as it is was outside the initial fetch range). But for some reason, the context still thinks the object is around, although is has been deleted from the store. Issue 3 - Deleting sections : When the deletion of a row leads to the deletion of a section, I have gotten the "invalid number of rows in section???" error. I have worked around this by removing the "reloadSection" line from the NSFetchedResultsChangeMove: section and replacing it with "[tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths...." This seems to work, but once again, I am not sure if this is the best solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Releasing Autopool crashes on iOS 4.0 (and only on 4.0)

    - by samsam
    Hi there. I'm wondering what could cause this. I have several methods in my code that i call using performSelectorInBackground. Within each of these methods i have an Autoreleasepool that is being alloced/initialized at the beginning and released at the end of the method. this perfectly works on iOS 3.1.3 / 3.2 / 4.2 / 4.2.1 but it fataly crashes on iOS 4.0 with a EXC_BAD_ACCESS Exception that happens after calling [myPool release]. After I noticed this strange behaviour I was thinking about rewriting portions of my code and to make my app "less parallel" in case that the client os is 4.0. After I did that, the next point where the app crashed was within the ReachabilityCallback-Method from Apples Reachability "Framework". well, now I'm not quite sure what to do. The things i do within my threaded methods is pretty simple xml parsing (no cocoa calls or stuff that would affect the UI). After each method finishes it posts a notification which the coordinating-thread listens to and once all the parallelized methods have finished, the coordinating thread calls viewcontrollers etc... I have absolutely no clue what could cause this weird behaviour. Especially because Apples Code fails as well. any help is greatly appreciated! thanks, sam

  • How do I make a UIAlertView happen only on the first start-up of an iPhone app?

    - by user309245
    I'm using the UIAlertView to make a pop-up happen once the app has started up. It works fine but I only want the pop up to happen on the first start-up of the app. At the moment I've got the UIAlertView in the AppDelegate class, after the application didFinishLaunching. Here is my code at the moment. - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { sleep(4); UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Welcome!" message:@"SAMPLE!!!" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; I'm new to app development so sorry if this is simple. Thanks in advance! :)

  • Keeping User-Input UITextVIew Content Constrained to Its Own Frame

    - by siglesias
    Trying to create a large textbox of fixed size. This problem is very similar to the 140 character constraint problem, but instead of stopping typing at 140 characters, I want to stop typing when the edge of the textView's frame is reached, instead of extending below into the abyss. Here is what I've got for the delegate method. Seems to always be off by a little bit. Any thoughts? - (BOOL)textView:(UITextView *)textView shouldChangeTextInRange:(NSRange)range replacementText:(NSString *)text { BOOL edgeBump = NO; CGSize constraint = textView.frame.size; CGSize size = [[textView.text stringByAppendingString:text] sizeWithFont:textView.font constrainedToSize:constraint lineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap]; CGFloat height = size.height; if (height > textView.frame.size.height) { edgeBump = YES; } if([text isEqualToString:@"\b"]){ return YES; } else if(edgeBump){ NSLog(@"EDGEBUMP!"); return NO; } return YES; } EDIT: As per Max's suggestion below, here is the code that works: - (BOOL)textView:(UITextView *)textView shouldChangeTextInRange:(NSRange)range replacementText:(NSString *)text { CGSize constraint = textView.frame.size; NSString *whatWasThereBefore = textView.text; textView.text = [textView.text stringByReplacingCharactersInRange:range withString:text]; if (textView.contentSize.height >= constraint.height) { textView.text = whatWasThereBefore; } return NO; }

  • If my application doesn't use a lot of memory, can I ignore viewDidUnload:?

    - by iPhoneToucher
    My iPhone app generally uses under 5MB of living memory and even in the most extreme conditions stays under 8MB. The iPhone 2G has 128MB of RAM and from what I've read an app should only expect to have 20-30MB to use. Given that I never expect to get anywhere near the memory limit, do I need to care about memory warnings and setting objects to nil in viewDidUnload:? The only way I see my app getting memory warnings is if something else on the phone is screwing with the memory, in which case the entire phone would be acting silly. I built my app without ever using viewDidUnload:, so there's more than a hundred classes that I'd need to inspect and add code to if I did need to implement it.

  • How can I delete video stored in the photo library ?

    - by srikanth rongali
    I have saved video in to the photo library. -(void)exportVideo:(id)sender { NSString *path = [DOCUMENTS_FOLDER stringByAppendingString:@"/air.mp4"]; NSLog(@"Path:%@", path); NSLog(@"Export Button CLicked"); UISaveVideoAtPathToSavedPhotosAlbum(path, self, @selector(video:didFinishSavingWithError: contextInfo:), nil); } - (void)video:(NSString *)videoPath didFinishSavingWithError:(NSError *)error contextInfo:(void *)contextInfo { NSLog(@"Finished saving video with error: %@", error); } Now I need to delete the video i have stored programmatically. How can I delete the video ? Are there any functions for it? Thank You.

  • Is it possible to make an alarm using NSTimer and UIDatepicker?

    - by user557425
    I have an app which plays some ambient noises. I have fitted it with a sleep timer and a local notifier which work fine, but the notifier will only fire when the app is in the background. I would like to be able to fit a standard alarm clock that the user can set using the date picker, ie, the user picks 07:15 am on the date picker and this triggers a sound being played at this time. Can this be done?

  • Why does UIActionSheet cancel crahes my App?

    - by Tim Büthe
    I try to use the UIActionSheet within my iPhone App but have the following problem. When I tap the cancel button "I don't", the app crashes. When I remove the NSLog statement from the actionSheet:clickedButtonAtIndex: it does not. The "Yes, do it" button works just fine and I see the log statement in the console. What's wrong? - (void) doItWithConfirm { UIActionSheet *actionSheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"do you really wanna do it?" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"I don't" destructiveButtonTitle: nil otherButtonTitles:@"Yes, do it", nil]; [actionSheet showInView:self.view]; [actionSheet release]; } - (void)actionSheet:(UIActionSheet *)actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { NSLog(@"buttonIndex: %@", buttonIndex); }

  • UITableView scrollable background , UITableViewCell transparency

    - by f0rz
    Hi! In my UITableView I have custom cells. My UITableView have a repeatable background myTableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithPatternImage: [UIImage imageNamed: @"backg.png"]]; I set my cells to have their background (clear); UIView *backView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero] autorelease]; backView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; cell.backgroundView = backView; This makes the cell have the same background as the TableView.. Problem is; That seems that every cell loads myTableView.backgroundColor once again. And the background are not being repeatble as it should. I want to have the cells totally with no background at all, instead they loads up myTableView.backgroundColor once again. Here is one example. Can anyone help me?

  • Total Size of NSMutableArray object

    - by sj wengi
    Hi Folks, I've got an NSMutableArray that holds a bunch of objects, what I'm trying to figure out is how much memory is the array using. After looking at a couple of places I know about the sizeof call, and when I make it I get 32 bits (which is the size of the NSMutableArray object it self). Example code: NSMutableArray *temp = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; [temp addObject:objectxyz]; [temp addObject:objectabc]; [temp addObject:object123]; now I want to know the size :) Thanks, Sj

  • Very simple test view in MonoTouch draws a line using Core Graphics but view content is not shown

    - by Krumelur
    Hi, I give up now on this very simple test I've been trying to run. I want to add a subview to my window which does nothing but draw a line from one corner of the iPhone's screen to the other and then, using touchesMoved() it is supposed to draw a line from the last to the current point. The issues: 1. Already the initial line is not visible. 2. When using Interface Builder, the initial line is visible, but drawRect() is never called, even if I call SetNeedsDisplay(). It can't be that hard...can somebody fix the code below to make it work? In main.cs in FinishedLaunching(): oView = new TestView(); oView.AutoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizing.FlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizing.FlexibleHeight; oView.Frame = new System.Drawing.RectangleF(0, 0, 320, 480); window.AddSubview(oView); window.MakeKeyAndVisible (); The TestView.cs: using System; using MonoTouch.UIKit; using MonoTouch.CoreGraphics; using System.Drawing; using MonoTouch.CoreAnimation; using MonoTouch.Foundation; namespace Test { public class TestView : UIView { public TestView () : base() { } public override void DrawRect (RectangleF area, UIViewPrintFormatter formatter) { CGContext oContext = UIGraphics.GetCurrentContext(); oContext.SetStrokeColor(UIColor.Red.CGColor.Components); oContext.SetLineWidth(3.0f); this.oLastPoint.Y = UIScreen.MainScreen.ApplicationFrame.Size.Height - this.oLastPoint.Y; this.oCurrentPoint.Y = UIScreen.MainScreen.ApplicationFrame.Size.Height - this.oCurrentPoint.Y; oContext.StrokeLineSegments(new PointF[] {this.oLastPoint, this.oCurrentPoint }); oContext.Flush(); oContext.RestoreState(); Console.Out.WriteLine("Current X: {0}, Y: {1}", oCurrentPoint.X.ToString(), oCurrentPoint.Y.ToString()); Console.Out.WriteLine("Last X: {0}, Y: {1}", oLastPoint.X.ToString(), oLastPoint.Y.ToString()); } private PointF oCurrentPoint = new PointF(0, 0); private PointF oLastPoint = new PointF(320, 480); public override void TouchesMoved (MonoTouch.Foundation.NSSet touches, UIEvent evt) { base.TouchesMoved (touches, evt); UITouch oTouch = (UITouch)touches.AnyObject; this.oCurrentPoint = oTouch.LocationInView(this); this.oLastPoint = oTouch.PreviousLocationInView(this); this.SetNeedsDisplay(); } } }
